Java 2D statistic as servlet

Hi volks,
I've got a big problem. Can someone help me.
I try to create a 2D statistic on a JSP page. There should be no applet. I'm searching for another solution like this:
- create an image like jsp
- than us a bitstream or something like that
- and finally insert the graphic in the jsp page like normal html graphic
Has someone an idea how it'll work?

You may get more responses if you post this to the servlet forum, but returning image content from a servlet is a snap.
1. In doGet:
response.setContentType("image/jpeg"); //or "image/gif", etc...
OutputStream out = response.getOutputStream();
//start writing2. If you map that servlet to "qwerty" in your web.xml file, then the tag in your html/jsp can be:
<img src="qwerty?optional_query_string">3. There is no step three!
