Java 7 update 10 not working with Internet Explorer 8

Hi there,
I recently upgraded to Java 7 update 10 and ever since no Java applet loads in Internet Explorer 8 (works fine in Firefox 17.1).
I've tried uninstalling Java and reinstalling Java many times, makes no difference.
Can someone help me please?
Thanks
Ninko
P.S. I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium (all updated), in case it helps.

I agree - check to make sure IE itself hasn't disabled Java.
Since you're using Java 7.10, please also check the Security tab in the Java Control Panel which can be found in the Windows Control Panel.
While in the Java Control Panel, check also the Advanced tab and make sure Microsoft Internet Explorer is checked under 'Default Java for browsers'
Alternatively check this registry key: HKCU\Software\AppDataLow\Software\JavaSoft\DeploymentProperties
For this setting: deployment.webjava.enabled
Make sure its set to 'true' to enable java; if its 'false' it disables java.

  • IWeb Page Navigational Links not working with Internet Explorer 7

    I'm hoping someone can help me out here? My wife created her 1st website using iWeb. I am testing the sites functionality before we publish it. All the pages and links work fine on Firefox and Safari for windows. However, the page navigational links are not working on Internet Explorer 7. All I see is a dot to the left side of where the page links should be. When I start the site in IE7 I get an Active X script warning and I am asked if I want to allow the script to run; to which I reply yes. After I allow the Active X script the dot to the left side of where the page links should be disappears, but the links do not appear.
    Is there anyway to resolve this? Most of the members of her club have Windows based PCs and are using IE7.

    Yes, Javascript is running on IE7 and other java script applets appear to be working with the exception of the Navbar script.
    It would be great if my wife's friends used a "real" browser, unfortunately 70% of the people on the web use IE7, so this is a real concern if we can't get this to work. I'v seen other iWeb site on IE7 that seem to function fine, so I'm not sure what the issue is here.

  • Not working with Internet Explorer?

    Not sure y, but all of a sudden, a few days back, my website is not working with IE. I use Firefox and it works fine. Others I know can't view it and they click on something and it takes them to some Mac error page. Any thoughts on this? I had my wife even update her IE to 8 and restart her windows machine. nada! cheers!

    I am having the same issue.
    I have website for my 7th Grade class. Over the weekend, I updated to iWeb'09. Today, when my students (using IE7 tried to access the site, I noticed loading pages takes much longer and the tech guy tells me that IE doesn't work with Mobile.Me.

  • Response.TransmitFile not working with Internet Explorer 11

    My website works fine with FireFox, and it worked fine with Internet Explorer too up until a few weeks ago (at least).  Now, with Internet Explorer 11 (running on Windows 8 Pro 64 bit), when I click the button to download the file (a Word document),
    nothing happens.  In FireFox, a dialog is presented asking the user to save or open the file.
    What is going on???  I have been having nothing but problems with IE11.  Extremely poor performance all around.
    HELP!!!!
    Here is the C# code in question:
    Response.TransmitFile(filename_goes_here)
    Response.Flush();
    HttpContext.Current.ApplicationInstance.CompleteRequest();
    The three lines above are wrapped in a try/catch, and no exception is thrown.

  • Flash not working with Internet Explorer 11

    I have upgraded three computers to IE 11 and cannot get Flash to work on any.  It did work on one machine running WIndows 7, 32 bit until Flash updated and then it acted like the other two.  Two of the machines are WIndows 7 64 bit and are actively used.  It never played videos on either.  Videos tell me I need the Flash player.  I follow the link and install it.  The page verifies the install.  I still cannot see embeded Flash videos like on Yahoo News.
    When I try to check in Manage Add Ons, Flash nor any other Adobe product shows up.  Whe I do a verify with your tool it says it is working.  The only solution I have found so far is to return to IE 10.

    Hi,
    Please be aware that Flash player is embedded in Windows 8.1.
    Regarding this issue, please try following steps to check the results:

  • Java update not working with OS X

    Downloaded Java and it doesn't seem to be working after updating to OS X and can't play mine craft -

    This was the last Java update for Leopard:
    Update 10, 29 June 2011 - This release updates J2SE 5.0 to 1.5.0_30, and updates Java SE 6 to 1.6.0_26. J2SE 1.4.2 is no longer being updated to fix bugs or security issues and remains disabled by default in this update. Support for out-of-process Java applets on Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard has been removed with this update.

  • IWeb 09 not working with Internet Explorer

    Spent quite a bit of time creating a site in iWeb 08, which worked fine with Firefox and IE. Decided to upgrade to the '09 version because of few new features (widgets, etc.) Update install went well. No problems using Firefox and Safari but IE now will not work.
    Site (home page) can be accessed using IE but links to other pages are not live. A real pain. I did nothing new to site (e.g., did not add widgets, photos, files, etc.) except to add a comment to my blog. A friend told me about the problem. Unsure what version of IE he is using but I tried it using Parallels running XP with IE v.6 and had the same problem.
    Do I need to reinstall the '08 version? If so, will it just overwrite '09 or is there some other procedure required to install an earlier version? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Didn't intend this to be as much a venting as a warning to others.
    The iLife 09 suite is very flawed. And it's not just iWeb.
    iPhoto does not deliver. Face recognition failed to correctly identify even one person in over 250 photos. Not a minor thing since it was trumpeted so loudly at it's announcement.
    iMovie corrupted the preview of a project I was working on in a prior version.
    Turned it gray and 'staticky'. Starting over now.
    I don't see quick fixes coming down the pipe because Apple has been absent from any news or comments for over a month.
    So if someone is contemplating an upgrade to iLife09 and happens upon my rant, maybe I've save someone from wasting their money.
    As far as knowing what I'm doing?
    I've been in IT for 20 years. Unix, Linux, Windows, backup/recovery, etc... I've led a very rich IT life. I bought a Mac because of the 'Just works' promise, not to add another OS to my debugging repertoire.
    I can get around the FTP problem manually (another problem with iWeb), but the ftp on 09 was a big reason I purchased it. And the problem with IE and Firefox not being able to even view any iWeb 09 sites now? That's going to be a bit more difficult to fix and is a show stopper.
    Apple has not responded to anyone's support questions (including mine), and it's been about a month.
    Not even a "Hey customers, we know about the problems and are getting right on it!".
    So, when something like this happens, I like to put the word out there on every medium possible. kind of warns people and hopefully get's back to Apple.
    And if Apple doesn't monitor these Support Discussions, they really should.
    At the very least, my comments may bring up issues others have yet to discover.
    And it makes me feel better...

  • Flash not working with Internet Explorer or Firefox - is OK with Google Chrome - What gives?

    The title is my question.  When accessing Youtube with either Internet explorer or Firefox and attempting to watch videos I have viewed before from both browsers, I get messages that I need to install the latest version of Flash player.  After multiple re-installs of both Flash and the browser software as well, the problem still exists.  The only browser that I can use is Google chrome, and I prefer not to.  What can I do?

    Hello,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums.
    Do you have Windows or MAC ?
    Which version of IE and Firefox are you using ?
    Do you see Flash bouncing logo here : http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
    Check whether Shockwave Flash Object is enabled or not ? (For IE : Tools -> Manage Add-ons & For Firefox : Tools -> Add-ons)
    Note : Open the above URL on IE or Firefox

  • HP 8600 Printer setting changes do not work with internet explorer v11 and win7

    I can connect to my printer using my IP address in ie 11, and i can look at lots of things, but if i attempt to change something simple, like the time, i get an error message back that says invalid input.  However, if i use Firefox v26.0, it works fine.  I have the latest drivers installed on my laptopt.  can this be resolved?   I have to do this from time to time because the clock on the printer does not keep the correct time.  Apparently, there is no fix for that.  (other than manually  adjusting it from time to time)

    Open IE 11 internet options and place the printers EWS IP address in the compatibilty view section. You can then save changes

  • ITunes 10.7 not working with Internet Explorer 8 (Windows 7) - Help!

    I downloaded iTunes 10.7 today after getting email update from iTunes <[email protected]>. After I installed newiTune 10.7 and try to launch the app, Windows gave a prompt saying "iTunes has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.". .. Guessing that it maybe an IE-8 issue, I uninstalled IE-8, and launched iTunes 10.7 again - it worked!! However, when I reinstalled IE-8 again, the same issue re-occurs. Anyone faced the same issues? How to resolve?

    I can not get the flash player plug in to work with Internet Explorer

    I also went into the safety tab and deselected

    Restarted and still does not work.
    I need help.....
    Chrome uses a different and separate plug-in.
    There are things about IE you need to know, especially 11. Specifically:
    "User-Agent Strings"
    That doesn't mean a lot, I'm sure, but it's the root of your problems, and Flash Player has nothing to do with it.
    Microsoft "rewrote" the User-Agent Strings for the abomination they call their latest and greatest browser. User-Agent Strings are what websites use to identify the browser you're using and provide the proper content for it's browser engine, like ActiveX stuff, and Flash or HTML5 video. Thanks to the geniuses in Redmond, WA, the User-Agent Strings for IE11 (which has a Trident engine), ID it as either "Gecko" (Firefox) or "Webkit" (Chrome). Problem is: when the site the directs to the content for one of these two engines, the Trident engine in IE can't intepret it and the site then sees IE as an "unidentified" browser.
    The problem with an unidentified browser is that the plug-ins in that browser aren't recognized either, so even though you're up to date, it says you need the latest Flash Player when you use IE11. YouTube... has converted to HTML5 video so if it doesn't detect Flash Player, it can display HTML5 (MP4) video which requires no plug-in to play. Facebook can't do that, because HTML5 doesn't apply to games... only video.
    Microsoft has no plans to "fix" the mess they've created because they think it's a great idea to block you out of the websites you visit.
    They recommend using "Compatibility View" and pretending that you're using an older verison of IE... Problem with that is that it's seen limited success, and you have to enable it for EVERY page that has problems... individually.
    I'm not big on "pretending" so I recommend actually using another browser.
    Firefox (from Mozilla)
    Opera (from Opera)
    Safari (from Apple)
    Chrome (from Google)
    ANY of those will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't even need that because it has its own Flash Player plugin built in.

  • Why does my Web Handler work with Internet Explorer, but not with Firefox

    I am trying to develop a web page that uses the Simile Timeline (http://code.google.com/p/simile-widgets/wiki/Timeline) with data from SQL Server.
    In initial testing of my timeline I tested it with Example.xml, a static XML file in the correct format to be event data. I wrote the following in the appropriate place within mytimeline's Javascript: -
    var WebHandler = "Example.xml"
    tl.loadXML(WebHandler, function (xml, url) { eventSourceFamily.loadXML(xml, url) });
    This worked fine with both Firefox and Internet Explorer. I then changed the assignment to
    var WebHandler = "GDBTimeline.ashx?Type=Family&Userid=" + getControlValue("input", "hdnUser");
    so that invoked a web handler that could look up the SQL database and return the XML that I wanted, and wrote this web handler.
    This works perfectly with Internet Explorer, but with FireFox the timeline band is blank. Yet when I examine the http traffic with Fiddler2 (http://www.fiddler2.com/fiddler2/) I see that with either browser there is a response from URL
    /GDB_pages/GDBTimeline.ashx?Type=Family&Userid=robertb
    that returns the XML that it is supposed to.
    I have previously used web handlers with Firefox before, with no problems. The Fiddler results conclusively show that the web handler is invoked, and returns the appropriate XML, and this XML is identical to the XML from the static test with Example.xml.
    Where do I start looking for answers? I don't even know if this is a Simile problem, a Firefox problem, or an ASP.NET problem.
    Thank you, Robert.

    Problem solved. The issue: Content Type was not correct.
    Visual Studio creates the web handler with dummy code like this: -
    Public Sub ProcessRequest(ByVal context As HttpContext) Implements IHttpHandler.ProcessRequest
    context.Response.ContentType = "text/plain"
    context.Response.Write("Hello World")
    End Sub
    I wrote a database query that set a string variable to the XML I wanted: -
    Public Sub ProcessRequest(ByVal context As HttpContext) Implements IHttpHandler.ProcessRequest
    Dim Outstring as string
    ' my logic to fill Outstring with XML
    context.Response.ContentType = "text/plain"
    context.Response.Write(Outstring)
    End Sub
    This works with Internet Explorer. However it's not strictly correct: to make it work with other browsers as well,
    context.Response.ContentType = "text/plain"
    should be
    context.Response.ContentType = "text/xml"
    It now works with IE, FF, and Chrome, and presumably all others.

  • New flash player 11 update doesn't work with internet explorer 8

    I have Windows 7 and IE 8. This is a home desktop computer.
    When the latest update of FlashPlayer 11.5.502.146 was automatically installed on Jan 9, IE8 stopped working. I can navigate to a site, but then it just freezes. I can not click any toolbar or other buttons or links--I can not even close IE--I have to use task manager. If I disable Flashplayer, IE works fine, but then of course no content can be displayed. If I go to a site and then enable Flashplayer, I can't click on anything again, so that doesn't work. HELP. Does the newest update not work with IE8?

    I have a similar problem. I've Win XP SP3 with IE 8. For last few months I've noticed that Flash Player is not able to play flash audio/video on a webpage i.e., upon visiting a page the flash player starts loading but it does not finish - a circle keeps rotating - player does not manage to display 'Play' button. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Flash Player 11.5.502.146. Also, installed Flash Player 11.6.602.161 from above link. But, with same result.
    Same behaviour is repeated in FireFox 18.0.1 with Flash Player 11.5.502.146. It seems that something else is not allowing flash player to play. I've latest Java 7 Upd 13, ZoneAlarm 11 and Avast 7.0.1474.
    (Note: I've another PC with Win XP SP3, IE 8 and FireFox 18.0.1 and Flash Player 11.5.502.146 works well. It has Java 7 Upd 13. It has ZoneAlarm 11 and Windows Defender AV)
    Can anyone help?
