Java Applet Background Color Problem on Internet Explorer
Hi,

The menu bar is writting in Java Applet. If you scroll down the page, and scroll back up, I see white background as I scroll back up. It happens only on Internet explorer. Neither Java Applet nor HTML Body bg color is white. I am kinda lost, and any help would really be appreciated.

Well I used HtmlConver utility to generate applet html code, so I assume nothing is wrong with Object tag. Do you know what could cause this problem on Internet explorer? To be honest, I spent last couple of days, but I am just lost. It absolutely works fine on Netscape.

Yes, I have read that the applet tag was deprecated - the problem is that it is working for my colleague, also in IE8.

To elaborate on the fix, yes - updating to Java 6 - 16 will allow IE 8 to display applets.
Just in case anyone else runs into this issue as well:
I am running Vista on a 64 bit.
It has two directories named Program Files:
One named just "Program Files" - evidently for the 64 bit stuff.
Another named something like "Program Files (x86)".
Apparently it will look into "Program Files" - the 64 bit one by default.
I haven't found a 64 bit version of Java 6 - 16 to install - the only 64 bit one is some version of 1.5, unless I am missing something, so the Java 6 - 16 installed into the Program Files(x86), and 1.5 into Program Files. Windows pointed JAVA_HOME to 1.5 because it looks into the Program Files by default.
The result was that when I went to the Java site it analyzed my Java version and told me I have the most up to date version. But -
java -version on the console returned 1.5. Confusing at first, but on such systems, apparently the JAVA_HOME has to be explicitly repointed to the (x86) Program File directory. -
Link Color Problem in Internet Explorer
I am completely new to Dreamweaver and I only know how to
make a very basic page using the design view. I have added some
images to my site that are links, and they should have black
borders both before and after being visited. However, these links
only have black borders in Safari. In IE and Firefox the borders
are blue, and then green or purple once visited. I would like them

The a:hover {background:transparent;} fixes a bug in IE5/6
where you can't hover over an image link without first declaring a
hover rule for that link (go figure!) It was fixed in IE7, but many
still use IE6.

Gui 7.0 windows xp, problem with Internet Explorer 6.0

I am installing SAP GUI 7.00, on all the windows XP machines, of our SAP users. All the machines where GUI 7.00 is installed, are facing the problem with Internet Explorer. When we click on IE we don't get error but the requested URL do not show anything. Our version of Internet exploerer is 6.0.

Since the recent upgrade from Adobe pdf plug-inn Firefox often won't open pdf-files. Uninstalling doesn't help. I don't have this problem with Internet Explorer.

Most printing issues are solved by resetting the Printing preferences. When you print from Firefox and you click on the down arrow, do you see Defualt and Firefox? Please make changes to the preferences here and preview the document.

Printer print size is very small. Do not have this problem with Internet explorer.
When I try to print something in Firefox, the printer print size is extremely small. I do not have this problem with Internet Explorer.

Java Applet problem in Internet Explorer 7 with Tab Key
Hi
I am developing some web pages in which iam using a java applet. so far the intended user are supposed to be using Internet Explorer 7. the problem i am facing is that when i press the tab key within the applet. the control get transferred to new tab position in the web page outside the applet and i have to click back to the applet to get control again transferred to the applet.
i want to restrict the control of tab so that when tab is pressed within the applet the tab should not move to next tab position in the page and remain confined within the applet.
Can someone please help me how can i achieve this and whether i have to do coding for it in the applet or in the web page...so that within the applet the Internet Explorer tab control should remain disabled..Hello all,

Spry Menu Bar Horizontal Problem in Internet Explorer
I'm having a problem with a spry menu bar. It works fine in Firefox and Google Chrome, but in Internet Explorer the submenus shift to the right.

Spry Alignment and Positioning Problem in Internet Explorer 6 and 7
I am designing a website at http://atoment.007gb.com, and neither me, nor my partner can figure out why the Spry Horizontal Menu Bar is loading the way it is in Internet Explorer. We are doing this for a school project, and eye appeal and workability is a top priority. I changed and customized most of it, but even if i did keep it the same, it still wouldn't work. I have only the best confidence, that even given the amount i have changed, you will still be able to help me with my alignment problem.
The Submenu Buttons Tile across the page, when they are supposed to go straight down...
the Submenu overlaps the main menu when you hover over it
and the darned thing wont center in any of my browsers, but thats the least of my worries.

The original SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css does not have any issues in any of the browsers. If you go and modify the original, and it does not work anymore, then the logical conclusion is that you have made one or (more likely) multiple mistakes.
In other words, you cannot make it work with what you already have.
My advice is that you replace the original CSS and work from there; but instead of changing the original CSS, make your changes in a separate stylesheet so that you can monitor and test the code at each change. For instance if you want to change the colour of the text you make a style rule that overrides the original in your new stylesheet as follows:

}So what happens is this: if the user hovers over the "+logon: username+", a little box pops up with some further information (the item &APP_CODES_DISP.) and the logout-link. Below this link, the Navigation bar starts. So while the box pops up, it covers a part of the region below, what its meant to do.
The promlem is, that this doesnt work in Internet Explorer properly, when its launched from apex. Instead, the popup-box is displayed behind the region below. In Mozilla, as always, everything worls fine. This problem ocured already, when I opened the html-file from desktop, but I fixed that by putting the z-index-attribute in. Only now, in Apex, its still now working in IE. I am not that of an expert in css. I have tried different XHTML declarations in the header, all no difference.
The current one:<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">This might be a bit of a tricky issue, so I dearly hope, someone can help me. (Similar problem like the other threat I started recently here where the round-corner attribute is not working in IE-Apex, but this time its a bit more vital. :) )

This turns out not to be an APEX-issue, as I tought first, but rather a css-problem. Maybe therefore I'm in the wrong forum, but maybe someone can help me anyway.
I have created two pages with the relevant element: (login with test/test please) one page with standard tabs and another with my own html-navigation. Now Internet Explorer has the option "Compatibility View" which in our company is activated by default. On page 1 it makes no difference, but on the second, with Compatibility View on, the drop-down box apeares behind my selfimplemented navigation bar. WHY IN GODS NAME DOES THIS HAPPEN??
I have posted the same question in a german web-developer forum (here) also, because its quite urgent that I solve this, and as I mentioned above, many colleagues work with IE.
So if anyone here is a css-IE9-expert... :)

Works in applet viewer but not in internet explorer
I origionaly posted this on devshed. I got 55 views but no replies. It seems to be a common problem to which no one knows the answer. Surprise me :O)I'm sure this is a really common but there seems to be surprisinly litttle on the web about it.
I developed a game applet a while ago in applet viewer and am now thinking about putting it on my web site. However I have found that it doesn't work in internet explorer. I can browse other sites using Java fine. There is clearly just something about my applet that ie doesn't like.
Does anyone have any suggestions? What sort of things upset ie?

Flo.There must be some thing that tells you it isn't working. You should tell us so we don't have to guess. Does the browser hang? Do you get an error? Did you try opening the Java Console to see if there were any messages? I am guessing that your code is using something that the security level of an Applet does not allow (but appletviewer does allow).

Weird text problem in Internet Explorer
I have a totally puzzling issue with my text in my website.
The problem is that it looks fine when the site is previewed in Firefox, Google Chrome or Safari but when previewed in Internet Explorer for some unknown reason some of the text displays incorrectly as illustrated in image 2 below.
I have been trying for days to solve this issue but nothing I have tried so far can solve the issue. Is anyone out there familiar with this bug?

Applet won't run in Internet Explorer
I am having problems running applets that I create. They don't run in Internet Explorer. Other applets will run in the browser but it seems to use the Microsoft VM, not the JVM from Sun. The Mozilla Firefox browser will run all applets using the JVM from Sun.

If you cannot see an entry in IE Tools menu named Sun Java Console and open it , then do the following.
1.Open Windows' Control Panel and look for an entry "Java Plug-in".
- If it's not there, go here http://java.com/en/index.jsp and click the "Get It Now" button to install the Java Plug-in.
- If it's there, click it, and then the Browser tab. Make sure that "Internet Explorer" is checked, then close all instances of IE. Go to this page and try one of the applets: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/relnotes/demos.html
2. If that doesn't resolve the problem, remove ALL Sun Java stuff that you can find - check directories and the Registry - and do a clean install of Java.

Question 1: It appears that you typed the error text in your message #8, because there are capitalization and spelling problems that do not exactly match the errors that Java produces. Is this the case? If so please cut and paste the verbatim text of the errors from the window that appears when you click on the "More Details" button of the "Error - Java General Exception" box. (The EXACT and TOTAL error test is important.)
It appears that the applet is attempting to acquire the value of some variables from the HTML code that calls the applet, but for some reason it cannot find the HTML file named "example1.htm" that contains the variables. One possibility is that there is a file on your computer named either example1.htm or example1.html that is being found first. Check your machine for files with one of these names; if found, temporarily rename it to something else and try the Sun BarChart applet from the demo page again. -
Image loading problem on internet Explorer

I am doing an java game.My starting class is a class that extends JApplet.Then I am calling a class that extends JFrame.Then i am calling a class which extends a canvas.In the constructor of my canvas class i call a method loadImage(),which loads all the images used in my game.My game is working fine in appletViewer.but it is not working in internet Explorer.When I commennted the method loadImage() inside consructor of canvas class ,then my game is working on internet Explorer.I think there is some problem in loading the images.I am using .png images,which has a size of 87.2KB only which is very little as compared to an PC game.plz help me

You may want to also run this applet in Mozilla Firefox, because Firefox uses the correct JRE that is installed on the system. If the applet running in Firefox does NOT say 1.1 (e.g 1.4, 1.5, etc), then you have the correct JRE. In this case, go to Internet Explorer -> Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced. Scroll down this list until you see the checkmark that says "Use JRE x.x.x for <applet> tag (requires restart)." Ensure this box is checked.
If that box is already checked, or if the applet in Firefox also says "1.1," then you probably don't have the latest JRE installed. See http://java.com/ to grab the latest JRE.
