Java application to send an SMS via my DKU-5 serial cable.

Hi,
I'm not sure if this is the right forum but....
I'm doing a project for college which involves Learning Content Managemnt System.
I've developed a few features for this including chat, forums, etc.
I want to develop an SMS system to use in conjunction with the chat application
ie. If a user is not online then the chat message will be sent to their mobile in the form of an SMS.
Looking for help in creating a Java application to send an SMS via my DKU-5 serial cable.
Any ideas??
Thanks

  • Send sms via java aplication

Hello i want to develop a java application that send sms what shell i do?
is there any kit or package that i can download and test it?

Hi, A few ways you can go.
Some Telecom services have a system that allows you to send emails to SMS phones. You'll have to contact the Telecom company to get it enabled, in order to prevent "spamming" peoples phones.
Some Telecoms have Web pages where you can fill out a form and send the message. You can simulate the HTTP message sent.
There are a few pay Web services that can be used if your Telecom doesn't offer these things.
Finally, you can read up on the TAP protocol, and use javacomm to send a message directly via serial port and modem to your Telecom. It's not that tough a protocol. This is the pre-Internet Age method.

  • Sending/Receiving SMS on a J2EE Web Application

    hi friends
i have developed an application for bank accounts. Its a web application and my server is Tomcat 5.0. my requirement is that user could sms (from their mobile) to my application. In the SMS they will provide their account no and in response my application will send a sms to their cell phone giving them their current balance.
Now im very new to this mobile technology. im confused that whether i have to use J2ME or JMS or what. And what other things i require.
The Mobile and application has to do nothin with each other(means they r not connected in any way). So i think i need services from a Service Provider. But from technology pt of view what i'll use??
If any body knows which tech. to use and flow of such application pls help.
    thanx...

    Hi
There is no need to develope mobile application for
    sending SMS from the PC.
n general, there are two ways to send SMS messages
from a computer / PC to a mobile phone:
Connect a mobile phone or GSM/GPRS modem to a
computer / PC. Then use the computer / PC and AT
commands to instruct the mobile phone or GSM/GPRS
    modem to send SMS messages.
Connect the computer / PC to the SMS center (SMSC) or
SMS gateway of a wireless carrier or SMS service
provider. Then send SMS messages using a protocol /
interface supported by the SMSC or SMS gateway.I would like to know how do you set up the whole thing. What are AT commands and Where do i get thm and how do i use them. i am sorry for asking so many question but i am really interested in knowing this. I am doing my school project which requires me to send sms from my PC.
    Please help!!!!
    Thanks

  • Nokia 5310 Is it possible to send a sms message fr...

    Hi Guys
I am using a Nokia 5310 and was wondering if it was possible to send a sms message from my phone to my computer via Bluetooth? I can't seem to find an option to do this and don't know whether I am missing it or if it's just not possible.
Any help or advice would be great.
    Thanks Claire xxx

You can't send an SMS. However, if the phone (I don't know the 5310) has a note-taking application where you can create text notes/memos, the application might have an option to send the note/memo over Bluetooth. You might also be able to find some Java application to send text messages (still not SMS, technically) over Bluetooth, if the phone doesn't have such a feature built-in.

END Email_Alert;Ugly. What you are doing here is taking a meaningful exception and making it meaningless. The caller knows that the send mail fail. It is after all getting a raised exception in response.
What is important for the caller is to evaluate the error. Determine a) what happened and then b) determine what to do about it.
The what happened is determined from the exception error code. Only, you now went and changed the meaningful application error code to -20000.
    Do not make exceptions meaningless!

What you can do is send a specially formatted e-mail (specific recipient/subject) to a mail server, where this mail server has special code/plug-ins/processes that can reformat the e-mail as a SMS and then forward it to a SMS gateway server that can pass it to the cellular provider's network for processing and delivery.
Do you have such a mail server? Does it interface with a SMS Gateway (or similar) server?

  • How to remove Java Applications from "Add and Remove Programs" list?

I have deployed my Java applications (both JWS and Applet) via JNLP with allow-offline option enabled and without installer-desc option specified.
    My questions are:
    1. An entry is added to the Add and Remove Programs list after launching the application via JNLP. Is it due to the specification of JNLP or JWS? Is there anyway to prevent this behavior?
    2. I removed my application by clearing the cache via Java Control Panel but the entry for the application is still listed in Add and Remove Programs. How can I remove the entry in the Add and Remove Programs?
I have tried following methods but neither works:
1.Go to Add and Remove Programs, and click [remove] button to the right of my application.
*Warning message like 'Application cannot be uninstalled completely' is thrown.
2.Follow instructions listed @ [Microsoft Online Support site|http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314481/en-us] to remove my application manually via Windows registry.
*Couldn't find appropriate registry entry to delete.

  • How to get Formatted Mail Content through Java Application

I am using a mail sending function in my applet code which is listed below:
Main content is fetched from a format tool bar in JSP Page and it is passed as parameter to applet and it is used inside the mail content.
Same content when passed and executed in a JSP page, the formatted content is not lost and it is included in mail content as what it is fetched from Format Tool Bar.
Format is lost when it is used inside the Java Application mail sending function.

Unicode characters in the mail content are replaced by “?”.
In the function listed above I have used the MIME Setting as
    Multipart multipart = new MimeMultipart("alternative");
I have tried by using “relative” MIME format also as
    Multipart multipart = new MimeMultipart("relative");
But I am not getting the actual format passed as input to the Java Application in the mail content.
Can anybody let us know how to overcome this problem?
    Thanks in advance.

You need to really understand how the different multiparts work instead of just guessing.
    But for your application, you don't need a multipart at all. Just use msg.setText(msgText, null, "html");
Although that doesn't explain your problem, it will simplify your program.
How are you determining that the mail received doesn't have the formatting? Are you viewing it in a
mail reader (e.g., Outlook)? Or are you fetching it with JavaMail?
Are you using an Exchange server? Exchange will often reformat your message to what it thinks you meant.

  • Sun Java Application Server problem

    Hi!
Last year I developed a small servlet that would enable access to a serial port on a Windows system (a school project that required reading various parameters from a Microchip Microcontroller and display those params in a web age). The servlet works just fine when deployed on JAKARTA-TOMCAT servlet container (also tested recently and works fine on JAKARTA-TOMCAT 5.5.7).
A few days ago I tried deploying the little web application on Sun Java Application Server and when I tried to initialize the serial communication (set the COM port and BAUD RATE), I get the following error:
java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.io.FilePermission E:\j2sdk1.4.2_04\jre\lib\javax.comm.properties delete)Cand any one help? (I use the javax.comm to perform all the actions concerning the serial port. Also, my servlet uses a CommunicationClass that I have developed - inheriting the javax.comm.SerialPort as my base class).

Well, I read some of the tutorials on security and file access stuff.
What I found confusing is why does the application work fine when deployed in other web containers (TOMCAT, APACHE), and does not work in this one (SUN JAVA APPLICATION SERVER)??
Also, the sdk is installed on a NTFS partition... I double check the permissions for the sdk directory and they're ok: read & execute for all users, write only for some registered users.....
PS: please have some patience with me, as I am a novice in this matters (I am migrating from the C# and .NET environment - and that stuff is full of wizzards:P)
