Java communication with applets

Hi, I'm new so I hope this is where I should post this question.
Basically, I want to write a java program that communicates with an applet and retrieves data from the applet. The applet is executed from secure http protocol and connects via the socket port. I know the applet is MainClassApplet.class, but I do not know any of its methods, variables, constructors, etc.
Is it possible to communicate with this applet and retrieve information from it?

The jar file is just a resource on the web server,
like the web page that it's called from. You could
use your browser to grab the jar file. Or use
something like curl.hmm.. do you know of some code or tutorial I could
look at for this?Look at the HTML source of the web page that includes the applet. From that page's URL, and the <applet> or <embed> or <object> tag that refers to the applet, figure out the URL to the jar file. Then type that URL in the location bar of your browser.
Or get "curl", which is a command-line utility that acts like a browser, and use that to get the file. Read the curl help pages.
User name and password doesn't necessarily have
anything to do with HTTPS. Is the site also using
HTTP authentication, or what? How do you know it
wants your user ID and password?Well, why would they make you pay for an account if
people could easily access their webpages? Sometimes a site will password-protect some pages but not others. And anyway, are they asking for a user name and password or aren't they?
I just
know it uses a post method in order to retrieve a
user's account name and password.. I don't think it
uses HTTP authentication.. It has 4 parameters that
it uses to execute the post method.Well, that tells me almost nothing.
Before trying to grab and reverse-engineer some functionality from a site, probably in a manner that violates whatever agreement you agreed to when you signed up for the site, you might want to learn about basic web technologies, like HTML, HTTP, etc. Then learn basic Java.

  • Need API for Java communicating with RS232

    Dear All,
    I am a newbie to Java. I have a sensor connected to a microcontroller, and this microcontroller is also connected to a PC through the RS232 (COM 1). I have installed the Java Communications API "Javax.comm" on my PC and was able to run the "BlackBox" sample program. What I require is a simple Java program that will read and show the bytes comming through the COM1 port. If anyone has done anything similar or has an idea of how to go about it, could they please send me some example code, I would be very grateful. Or if anyone knows about any website with such similar examples i would be very grateful.
    Thank you very much.

  • Communicating with Applet with JSP

    Hi,
    I am developing a tool that uses an applet to display information as a specialized spider table. I have used parameters to input information into the applet and this is working fine!
    I want to know how the applet can then output information based on the users choice inside the applet.
    E.g. The users can select values on spider diagram and I want to output these values to a place where I can access them (i.e. session or application level attributes for the JSP).
    Does anybody know how to "output" from the Applet in this manner or any other way?
    Many thanks in advance!
    GJ

    Hey guys,
    I think I got the answer. I can use the java.net.URLConnection and java.net.URL classes to open a standard HTTP connection to the web server. The server then passes this information to the servlet in the normal way.
    I'll let you know how I get on!

    Hello guys,
    I inserted an applet into another applet, but I need the inserted applet to receive some parameters, how can I do that?

    If you are talking about two web browser sessions on the same machine, and the same browser i.e both netscape or both i.e then use a static method and a singleton class. If you want a more detailed explanation, please ask.

  • Absolute Beginner needs help with applet

    Hello folks,
    I know I have already started a topic on this, but it was getting a bit long and I wasn't getting anywhere with it. Here's my problem... first of all, I am new to Java, especially with Applets. I attempted to create the HelloWorld applet from this site's First Cup of Java tutorial. I was able to compile the java file fine, but when I attemted to add the applet to an html file, I get a message at the bottom taskbar saying "load: class HelloWorld not found". I can't figure out what is wrong with my code. I have all my files (html, java, and class files) in one folder, with no subfolders at all. In case it matters, I'm on a Windows 98 machine with IE 6.0 for my browser. Here is the code:
    First my HelloWorld.java file, which, as I said, compiles with no problems
    import java.applet.*;
    import java.awt.*;
    * The HelloWorld class implements an applet that
    * simply displays "Hello World!".
    public class HelloWorld extends Applet {
         public void paint (Graphics g) {
              //Display "Hello World!"
              g.drawString("Hello World!", 50, 25);
    }And here is the HTML file which is supposed to display the applet:
    <html>
         <head>
              <title>A Simple Program</title>
         </head>
         <body>
              Here is the output of my program:
              <applet code="HelloWorld.class" width="150" height="25">
              </applet>
         </body>
    </html>Can someone please check this and see what, if anything, is wrong?

    Hi Chris,
    This isn't going to help much. I took your Java code
    and put it in a file HelloWorld.java. I took your HTML
    code and put it in a file HelloWorld.html. I compiled
    HelloWorld.java with javac so that I had HelloWorld.class.
    I then ran the program with appletviewer by typing
    appletviewer HelloWorld.html.
    It loaded and ran fine.
    Since that sounds like exactly what you are doing,
    I'm not sure what else to suggest. (I could also
    run it by opening the HTML file with IE.)
    There are only two things that still suggest themselves,
    and they seem like long-shots:
    1) Is the file named HelloWorld.java that contains your
    code (including the capital W)? This is obviously a
    long-shot because your code shouldn't compile if this
    was set incorrectly.
    2) Is it possible that you have the CLASSPATH environmental
    variable set? Some programs (like QuickTime for Java)
    will set the CLASSPATH and then Java just stops working.
    You can find out by typing SET at the command prompt and
    looking for CLASSPATH. If you find it, then you'll probably
    need to remove it from your AUTOEXEC.BAT (in Windows 98),
    or update it to include the runtime classes for the SDK.

    I want to pass along a couple of tips that will get you more and better response on this list.
    1) There is an un-written rule that says more "stars" is better than just one star. Giving a one star rating will probably eliminate that responder from individuals that are willing to anser your question.
    2) If someone gives you an answer that meets your needs, reply to that answer and say that it worked.
    3) If someone suggests that you look at an example, DO IT! LV comes with a wonderful set of examples that demonstate almost all of the core functionality of LV. Familiarity with all of the LV examples will get you through about 80% of the Certified LabVIEW Developer exam.
    4) If you have a question first search the examples for something tha
    t may help you. If you can not find an example that is exactly what you want, find one that is close and post a question along the lines of "I want to do something similar to example X, how can I modify it to do Y".
    5) Some of the greatest LabVIEW minds offer there services and advice for free on this exchange. If you treat them good, they can get you through almost every challenge that can be encountered in LV.
    6) If English is not your native language, post your question in the language you favor. There is probably someone around that can help. "We're big, we're bad, we're international!"

  • Problem with Java Communication API

    hi
    I installed the Java Communication API on win32 platform (as per the guidelines)
    Now when I try to run the sample program 'Blackbox' for the serial port, I get an error (in fact an exception is generated inside main function in BlackBox.class file)
    I tried the SimpleRead.java example but that too generated the same exception
    Can anybody help me out.... I am a novice with Java Comm API

    I tried running the sample BlackBox program provided for serial port and now it says
    No Serial Ports Found!
    I verified that both comm.jar and javax.comm.properties are in the <JDK>\lib directory.
    Actually, I am using netBeans IDE 1.4 and I used the C:\J2SDK folder installed with netBeans for the Java Communicaion API

  • VB Client communicating with a Java servlet

    Hi,
    I have a java servlet and I would like to have a VB application communicating with the servlet.
    Can I do it ? and if yes, how to do it.
    Thanks in anticipation,
    Ayana

    The VB client can open an internet or Http connection to the servelet, send a request and parse the response. We've done it here but I don't know exactly which ActiveX control the VB guy uses.
    Also look into using webservices.

  • Servlet Communication with Java WebStart

    Hi there,
    we have an application that works fine with Java WebStart whenever we start it in a local area network. But from outside the LAN the application cannot communicate to it's servlets. I use the codebase IP address with the servlet runner's port (http://<codebase IP>:port/) as URL for servlet communication, but the application's request never reaches the servlets.
    My question is now, if anyone had the same or a similar problem with servlet communication using Java WebStart, or if anyone knows, if that might be a problem with proxy configuration.
    The servlet runner we use, is JServ from Sun (JSDK2.0) and the webserver where it is running on is not behind a firewall or a proxy, but the client PC with the web start application is.
    Thanks,
    Katja

    Thank you for your early reply. But I think, that's not the problem.
    I get no security error and the webserver is identified the same way it is in the jnlp file. Also my application is not running in the Sandbox. My assumption is, that the http-request to the servlet does not go through the proxy server between my PC and the PC the servletrunner is running on.
    I wonder if I have to configure my application to use a proxy server for communication with the servlets instead of the direct http-request to the servlet runner?

  • Java interface with xml communication

    Hello everybody,
    For a project i need to make a java interface with xml communication.
    For example ; from 1 laptop I press on a java button and then i need to get a text message on the other laptop.
    The java interface is already created now the xml code for communication.
    I hope someone can help me how to start with the xml code.
    Are there any templates that i can use?

    I need to use XML for this, cause it is in the
    assignment.As far as communication is concerned, it doesn't matter that you are sending XML. You can send any kind of data. So first find out how to send data, then send data which is XML.
    I only want to know if its possible to send data/text
    from 1 laptop (windowsxp prof) to the other laptop
    (also windows xp prof).Provided the other laptop is running a server that can receive that data.
    Maybe its easier if I send data to a specific IP
    address?Provided there is a server running at that IP address that can receive that data. You can use an IP address to connect to a server but that has nothing to do with sending the data.
    Its important that the communication between 2 system
    is in XML language.XML is not a programming language. XML is a format for storing data. You can certainly send XML-formatted data between two computers.
    So i hope u have a solution for my problem.The solution would be for you to learn how communication between two computers works in the real world. If you have an assignment that says you have to make communication work, surely there was something taught to you before about how to do it?

  • Java - Eclipse debug applet with System.out.print in jboss console

    I use System.out.print to debug my java programs using Eclipse. I'm new
    with applets, and when nothing showed up in the applet window, I tried
    using print statements. I was expecting to see them in the jboss console like
    always, but there was nothing there. I tried looking this problem up
    online and found nothing. Does anyone know how I can use print
    statements to debug my applet? (Japplet to be specific).

    System.out.println works for me. The output statment are visible in the Console Window within Eclipse.
