Does anyone have a walkthrough on deploying the Java Runtime to a network via Microsoft SMS? What is the best way to deploy Java?

Error in Java deployment step of SAP Netweaver installation

Hi Team,
We are installing SAP Netweaver 7.4 SR2.
We are using How to install SAP NetWeaver Application Server Java guide.
We have completed all steps upto step 27 without much hiccups, but during Java deploy stage, we are getting errors related to port 50004.
We have restarted the machine and continued the installation .but are still getting the error.
We have checked the heap size -- Its value is 1024mb.
Do not know what is wrong with this.
We have assigned 4 GB Ram and Paging is also set as per requirement. Previously we had used 3.5 GB RAM

Hope you are doing good.
Nice to hear from you again. It looks like P4 connection is affected:
1)
Review note 1158626 and adjust the P4 port configuration accordingly. You will need to check whether the P4 port is available. Note 1925352 will help you to check this (you can use the sapcontrol command or others mentioned to check whether host: 172.16.35.110 and port: 50004 is available or not).
2)
Make sure that there are no invalid profile files. Kindly move the profile files that are old to some other location.
3)
Also, please verify that you don't have any non-deterministic names in the etc/hosts file, per SAP note:
1134222 - Cannot access AS Java via P4 connection

The plugin (Java Deployment Toolkit 7.0.670.1 10.67.2.1) disables me from utilising Java

Apparently, there are two Java plugins which one is as stated in my questions and the other is Java(TM) Playform SE 7 U67 10.67.2.1 which has no problems with its status set as 'Ask to activate'. The problem with the Java Deployment plugin is that i cant set it to 'Always Activate' due to reasons of being vulnerable.
This has not happened to me before until the recent Java 67 update. I really hope I could get a reply with the solution as this has greatly hindered my web-surfing on Firefox.

The Java DT plugin is not related to the general Java functionality with regards to running Java content in the browser. It's meant for web developers and network admins. How do i fix the message to update java deployment kit when I already have the lastest version of java installed?

I keep getting a message that "An important update is available for Java Deployment Toolkit 7.0.400.43". I click on "Update Now" and I get taken to the Mozilla Plug-in check page. A brief message shows at the top of the page that tells me some plugins are out of date and then disappears. The plugin checks show all plugins are up to date. I have uninstalled/reinstalled Java more than once and run a registry cleaner, but once I install Java the same messages appear. I am on a Windows XP machine and I am running an older version of Firefox (9.0) because addons for some of my other software don't work with newer versions of firefox. Can I get rid of the message or do I have to live with it because I use an older version of firefox?

Please update to Firefox 23.0.1 IMMEDIATELY. Old versions are extremely vulnerable to security issues, and all your add-ons should work if they work in Firefox 10 anyway.

Drivers to be used on networked computers that arent directly connected to HP Laserjet M1536dnf MFP

Hi, I have been having problems connecting computers on network to printer. The printer is HP LaserJet Pro M1536dnf MFP. The computer that is connected to the printer directly through usb port is fine. I downloaded full solution drivers from the hp site, installed them and all is well. the problem is with the computers on the network, they cant even detect the computer from add printer. And I have enabled all the file sharing and printer sharing options in advanced sharing on all computers. I also tried installing the same drivers i used on local computer on the networked computers but its not working. Please kindly advise me on which particular driver I should use or solution.

Small business needing to expand and deploy a network

HI,
I hope this is the correct forum to post this question. If not, please move it to one more appropriate.
We are a small company currently working from home but now have a need to expand into an office due to winning a contract with a large international organization. We offer web market research services utilizing Web 2.0 techniques. Our current 'network' infrastructure if you want to call it that is based around a standard home office scenarion - 24Mbit DSL 4 PC's, a couple of laptops, Dlink gigabit switch and the router from the telecom company. Our printers are networked via the switch and we run Windows 7. We have servers hosted in the Rackspace Cloud and with Amazon S3 but no current physical server. Email is via a hosted Exchange package.
Due to the new contract we will have to hire two to three additional personnel taking us to 7 staff in total and that requires a move to a dedicated office. That wouldn't be much of an issue if we only needed to setup an office LAN but the crunch comes within the security protocols we are required to meet in the new contract. We'll be storing customer data on servers and we'll require an audit of our systems once in place. We will be scanned by our new client and expected to install a scanner appliance to be deployed on our internal network which will allow our new client to periodically scan us for network vulnerabilities.
The key issue is that we have to have physical sight of the server that is holding the data, which also needs to have WAN access. This server must reside on a network independent from our office LAN. We'll need VPN access to this server. The requirements document also demands a hardware firewall. The new office has Cat6 cabling that routes back to a server room. Apart from that, this room is empty.
It's a bit of a daunting task and I'd like to know what equipment we'll require to setup two independent networks with WAN access. The two new servers will probably come from Dell and will be rack mounted. I'm sure we'll need the services of a network professional but I'd like to be clear in my own head about what components we will need to purchase to deploy this network, and what would be a suitable internet network connection. The server for the new project will need to run a web and MySQL server and it will be accessed by around 600 people across Europe and the USA each month. I can't give a clear figure on total bandwidth but the 600 people will be accessing a pretty standard WordPress site. The number of users will increase to 6000 per month within 6 months. On top of that office staff will be sending emails and using web services on a daily basis. The office server will run Windows Server 2008 with 10 CAL's. We have an initial capital budget of about $12,500. Within 6 months we will need to deploy our own SharePoint server for this project. A dedicated remotely hosted SharePoint solution will not be acceptable to the client. More budget will be available for this. Support will be delivered by Dell for the servers and network maintenance will be contracted out.
Any help in making this a little less daunting would be much appreciated.

Leo has given you some excellent advice ie. you cannot choose a kit list until you have a design. It just doesn't work the other way around. If you don't have the experience to design the solution then you can't really be choosing the kit. Otherwise when you do hire your consultant he might well be constrained by the kit already chosen and you will not get the best solution for your needs.
Please don't take any of this the wrong way. NetPro is a great forum for helping people out with technical and design issues with Cisco equipment but there are times when NetPro is not the best solution and this is one of them. We could each give you a kit list of what we "think" is the best solution but that really should come from the designer.

Netweaver 7.3 AS Java Installation Error in Java Deploy (30th step) of 33.

Hi Experts,
I'm installing Netweaver Application Java 7.3 with the following system credentials.
1) Windows 7.0 - 64 bit
2) 6 GB RAM, 150 GB HDD
Software folders downloaded -
1) 510415560_16 (NW730_WPL_IM_WIN_X86_64_ADA) - SAPINST.exe file (started this first)
2) 51039309 Java Part 1 to Java Part 6.- Given the path of this for the java request from 51039309 java Part1.exe
3) 51038550_10 for MAX DB
4) JCE_POLICY -6.zip
and I was unfortunately stuck in Java deployment step that is 30 of 33.
undefinedStatus:AlreadyDeployedDescription:1. Already deployed component has version:1000.7.30.0.0.20101020230400. SOLUTION: Check 'undefined' and '' for more information
Saw similar issue in the threads but no response, I would be very happy if you can provide me any clue in resolving this.

I think it is just Netweaver 7.3 Web AppServer Java (I have searched the market place it did not say anything about the version EHP),
so as said by Naveen try to start the server manually, it says some processes running (safe mode) and also the
developer trace says
Warning => Node Server0 failed : result 1, exit code 666.
and restarted the installation got the latest error as below:

Removing the Java Deployment Toolkit?

Hello,
I was wondering if it is possible to remove the Deployment ToolKit .dll from the machine or disable it in browser within an infrastructure? I wanted to see if there are any other functionality that could be impacted I remove the deployJava1.dll from my machine or disable it in browser?

By blocking the Java DT plug-in, the Java version detection mechanism is disabled. Therefore, when a user tries to launch a Java applet or application, that requires a specific Java version other than the active Java version on a user’s system, it will fail.
Does this mean the application will break? Or just that the detection mechanism will be broken for the application version check and the app will still run? I would like to remove these bits to ensure no version checking is done on my systems.

Your "More System Details" doesn't show any Java plugin at all. Are you sure you have the current version installed? This test page will lead you to a download if needed:

If you have Java installed, check whether its two plugins (Java Platform SE and Java Deployment Toolkit) are set to "Never Activate" on the Add-ons page. That disables them. Open the Add-ons page using either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Plugins. Note that disabled plugins cluster at the bottom of the list.

I downloaded 3.6.8 and found Win32.Cherche.us in module plugin-containers.exe in mozilla firefox directory. i now have many network computers to clean and a lot of work, check your files

I started installing 3.6.8 several network computers. When I started firefox, I got the message from spybot that Win32.Cherche.us was found in file plugin-container.exe in the mozilla firefox directory. This is a rootkit and I will probably to re install/clean at least 4 or 5 virtual/real machines. This will be a lot of work on a weekend when I just wanted to rest

Why is Java Deployment Toolkit (click-to-play) blocked, also the referenced bug is closed and there are no security issues known in Version 7 U51?

I think it is important to block unsecure addons. But if you do so there should be an open bug assigened. The referenced bug for this add-on is allready resolved so I do not know why this plugin is disabled. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=636633
I have the problem that I want to use Secure_Auth that is using the Java Deployment Kit in such a nasty way (via javascript) that firefox doesn't see that the deployment kit should be started. Therefore I will not be asked to allow this plugin always for this web site. Since there is no documentation available how to do this configuration in a config file I am stuck at the moment.
I'm a liitle bit suprised that blocking all versions (even secure versions) is a way to get a good user experience.

That's a bug report in the Blocklisting component, meaning it's a request to add an add-on to the blocklist. The fact that it's marked as fixed means the add-on has been added to the blocklist.

Given that there's no way to disable Click-to-Play for this plug-in (the only options are Ask to Activate or Never Activate), if Firefox doesn't trigger a Click-to-Play prompt, I see no way to use it apart from disabling the entire blocklist. This carries a considerable security risk, as no plug-ins will be blocked or set to Click-to-Play, including known malware. Java platform and Java Deployment should be updated but there is no other version, always the warning to update but thats not possible

Java Platform 7u9 and Java Deployment Kit plug-ins are yellow and asked to be updated.
The problem is that there is no other version than I have already installed.
Even if I try to instal this latest version again I've get the message that I already have the latest version.
The same problem was with Flashplayer where I installed the latest version but three days Firefox asked to update the plugin.
The last one is now ok but Java Platform and Java Deployment Kit is hopeless.
Why it ask for an update if there is none?
What should or can I do? I always be careful and patch my pc if necesserry.
All my friends who are working with Firefox have the same problem.
Can anybody tell me whats going on here?

There is still an issue for me. When i check to see if add-ons are up to date it identifies "Java(TM) Platform SE 7 U9" as out-of-date and gives me an orange "Update" action. When i hit this it takes me to the Java website giving me "Recommended Version 7 Update 9". This is the one i've already got so i cannot get rid of the orange Update action buttons.
Furthermore, if i try the link earlier in this thread to test to see which version of Java i should be using it says "Congratulations! You have the recommended Java installed (Version 7 Update 9)" so i'm not sure what this talk of version 7.10 is about?

Contrary to what BIJ001 suggests, the Java Deployment Toolkit Plugin is installed in Java SE 6 Update 10 and above.

Ever since Java 6 Update 10, an NPAPI plugin and an ActiveX control (npdeploytk.dll and deploytk.dll, respectively) have both been installed by default with the JRE.
You should be able to find them under one or more of these folders (there are other locations you may find them on your drive):
C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin (both)
C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\new_plugin (npdeploytk.dll only)
C:\WINDOWS\system32 (deploytk.dll only)

I "allowed" Java Deployment Toolkit, it made me upgrade java, and now there are ads everywhere

I was doing homework on masteringgenetics and there was this box in the top left hand corner that said to allow java deployment toolkit because some of the content on the website needed it so I clicked "always allow". This then took me to java's website to update java and I was gullible so I did. Now there are random ads on most websites I go to and if I stay on there it takes me to some random website. I've tried disabling all plugins, uninstalling java, uninstalling then reinstalling firefox, but it still happened. It doesn't happen when I use google chrome so I think it's a firefox thing (actually now it's happening on chrome too).

Oracle may be bundling other software with a Java update, so always be careful when installing or updating programs like Java and Flash and look carefully for any check boxes to installs such unwanted extras.
You can check in "Windows Control Panel > Programs" for recently installed programs (sort by installed time) to see if any suspicious software shows up.
