Java error - Oracle Security Alert for CVE-2010-4476

I have come across this security alert described at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topics/security/alert-cve-2010-4476-305811.htm l
In summary - Java Runtime Environment hangs when converting "2.2250738585072012e-308" to a binary floating-point number.
This vulnerability affects:
Java SE
JDK and JRE 6 Update 23 and earlier for Windows, Solaris, and Linux
JDK 5.0 Update 27 and earlier for Solaris 9
SDK 1.4.2_29 and earlier for Solaris 8
Java for Business
JDK and JRE 6 Update 23 and earlier for Windows, Solaris and Linux
JDK and JRE 5.0 Update 27 and earlier for Windows, Solaris and Linux
SDK and JRE 1.4.2_29 and earlier for Windows, Solaris and Linux
Java for MacOS X 10.6 update 3 updates Java to SE 6 to version 1.6.0_22.
Is anyone aware of new Java update for Mac that will fix this problem? If one doesn't exist, does anyone know when a new update will be available?
Thanks.

Hi Hussein,
have you applied this? Please can you update?
Our environment: 11.5.10.2 (9.2.0.7)running on HP-UX PARISC. We are using Jinitiator. We are not yet migrated to J2SE Plugin.
So, since the sercurity patch is for JRE, is that still required for our environment?
Please advise?

with regrads to the below thread which mostly talks about Oracle Security Alert for CVE-2012-1675 "TNS Listener Poison Attack"....i just wanted to find out if this effect DB that are externally or internally....meaning 95% of our DB are in network(internally) behind our firewall....and rest of the 5% are outside our firewall facing the world wide web....so does this apply to both of just one ?The attack is on the Listener itself - so if you want to prevent this attack, you need to secure that Listener, irrespective of its location.
IMO, mandatory if you expose your Listener to an unsecured or public network (e.g. internet).
As for Listeners running on your internal network - if this attack is used, securing your Listeners mean very little IMO. Because your internal network already needs to be compromised in order for the attack to occur. Which means you have far more serious problems then someone attacking your Listeners.

  • Oracle Security Alert for CVE-2012-1675

    Hi,
I want to know more about recent release "Oracle Security Alert" : http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topics/security/alert-cve-2012-1675-1608180.html
    Document available in https://support.oracle.com/CSP/main/article?cmd=show&type=NOT&id=1453883.1
Fix is about Class of Secure Transport (COST). I need to know about elaborate steps to find out whether this change is need to apply to my databases or not.
About my DBs : 10.2.4 , AIX, Nondefault Listener, Shared env , non RAC, local_listener is null & running in pfile.
    Thx,
    Gowin.

    Hello;
Apply it. Very clean. Simple. No outage on Non-RAC. Biggest Impact is listener stop and start. Took about 3 minutes per server.
Tested today and had zero issues. ( Assumed you understood a CONNECT was part of the test ). Zero issues.
Had a thread on this here a few days ago :
    Oracle TNS Poison vulnerability
See Oracle Support Note 1453883.1 for additional information.

With all due respect this isn't very hard. Make a decision.

    PLs guide me.
    Sailaja.

Also, additionally, please make sure you had followed all the steps in "Deploying Fusion Web Application" chapter of the Fusion Developer's Guide for Oracle ADF. There are several steps you need to follow closely - for example you need to create the Datasource entries first. Also, ensure that the WLS server you are trying to deploy to has all the necessary ADF runtime library. For example, when you create the WLS server using the Configuration Wizard, you need to check the option "Oracle JRF - 11.1...." to install the ADF runtime library to the WLS Server you are creating. If you are deploying ADF application to just any WLS server, you will see a lot of these "missing library" errors.
If you do not see the option "Oracle JRF - 11.1...." in the configuration wizard, please ensure that you are running the version of the Configuration Wizard that are shipped as part of JDeveloper studio edition.
    Thanks,
    Joe Huang

  • Oracle Security Alert #48

Does Oracle Security Alert #48 (bug 2642117) - Buffer Overflow in DIRECTORY parameter of Oracle9i Database Server effect Oracle 8i v 8.1.6.0 database?
I know the Oracle Alert states it effects Oracle 8i v 8.1.7, but I'm not sure if that would mean it effects older releases like v 8.1.6.0.
    Thanks

    Some clips:
    "Products Affected

    Oracle9i Database Release 1v, Version 9.0.x

    Hi,
I have SharePoint 2010 setup and works fine until today all of a sudden it throws error "The security validation for this page is invalid" when delete a SharePoint document or list item.
There is no custom event handler deployed on library/list, and it should not be account issue as the same account works yesterday, and even after I turn off security validation from Central Admin, it still doesn't work.
The only change I did is turn off Dynamic Compression from IIS, after that I tried enable back Dynamic Compression but it still doesn't work.
Does anyone know what could be the possible reasons? Thanks in advance.

  • JavaScript - Error: The security validation for this page is invalid...

    Hi there,
I have a question regarding javascript and the security validation.
I have created a custom action for a document library. This custom action should update a field in all selected documents by the user. But when I do the update, I got this error message:
"The security validation for this page is invalid. Click Back in your Web browser, refresh the page, and try your operation again."
I know, I could AllowUnsafeUpdates, if I were using C#, but actually I can only use JavaScript at this stage. Or does anybody know, how to allow this or switch to C# in this area?

    Dennis

    Ok, I found the reason.
I just had to replace the SP.ClientContext line in JavaScript.
    Instead of
    var clientContext = new SP.ClientContext(siteUrl);
I need to use this one:
    var clientContext = SP.ClientContext.get_current();

  • Provision for capacity alerts for Exchange 2010 servers on SCOM

    Hi All,
This is one urgent requirement, please help.
We have around 25 exchange servers in our environment, we need to configure alerts to limit the threshold to 80-90% of mailbox.
My requirement is to configure SCOM alerts for mailboxes hosted on databases servers. In our environment we have set that a database should contain 208 mailboxes. So we need to have alert when mailbox limits reaches to 80% or 90% (say 180 mailboxes in number).
Please let me know hw to configure this alert and thresholds in SCOM?
    Best Regards,
    Harsha L P

     Hi,
Have you import the Exchange management pack to your maagement group?
We may need to check the management pack guide to find if there is any monitor or rule which can do this.

  • Error Handling and alert for HTTP 401

    Hi Experts,
We have an asynchronous ECC (Proxy) -> File via local processing. 1 of the outbound proxy message encountered 401 HTTP_RESP_STATUS_CODE_NOT_OK error and didn't reach PI. We have used exception class CX_AI_SYSTEM_FAULT in our program but the error was not caught.
    1. Can we really catch this error via exception class CX_AI_SYSTEM_FAULT?
    2. If not, how can we catch this error and also notify/alert us when such error occurred in ECC when sending the proxy message to PI?
    3. Outbound proxy errors can only be handled in ECC itself and not in PI?
Has anyone done this before? Appreciate your inputs regarding this matter.
    Thank you so much!

    Hi,
We've just used Acknowledgements for Asynchronous in our client proxy to capture system errors in ECC such as this. http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/f4/8620c6b58c422c960c53f3ed71b432/content.htm

I installed the latest Oracle Data Integrator 11g (11.1.1.5.0) a while ago on Windows XP and it worked fine.
However, yesterday I upgraded Oracle Data Access Components (ODAC) for Visual Studio .Net to the latest version, ODAC 11.2 Release 4 (11.2.0.3.0).
I also upgraded Java on this computer to the latest release.
Now when I try to connect to the ODI Repository, I am getting the following Java error:
    *oracle.odi.core.exception.OdiRuntimeException: java.lang.Error: Incompatible version of libocijdbc[Jdbc:112020, Jdbc-OCI:112030*

Thank you Phanikanth for your help, this may be the right solution!
    It makes sense to me:
Step 1: Install latest Java JDK from Oracle site (there shouldn't be any old ODI version installed on your drive at this point. If there is, then uninstall it prior to Step 1)
Step 2: Install latest version of ODI.
Following these steps will probably resolve the issue.

  • Security Alert # 68 Question

    I have 8.1.7.4 on Windows 2000 server.
Does patch 8.1.7.4.16 correct the Oracle Security Alert #68? The readme file does not state any information about this alert.

Patch 8.1.7.16 is patch number 3820881 and the original patch for alert #68. 8.1.7.17 (3709700) is cumulative and therefore supersedes 8.1.7.16 , which means alert #68 is addressed.
Patchsets are major patches like 8.1.7.4 and should be always applied, patches like 8.1.7.4.17 have to be applied only if your applications are affected by the bugs described in the README file.
