Java finite element kernel

Hi,
Just wanted to know if somebody is aware of an open source java kernel for finite element method solving ...
Guillaume

I'm sure Google didn't bring back much. Most FEA that I know of is done in Fortran - MAYBE C, rarely C++. I'm not aware of any commercial code that uses Java.
Check here for s'ware:
http://dmoz.org/Science/Technology/Software_for_Engineering/Finite_Element_Analysis/
There are Java linear algebra packages. You can base your solvers on that stuff:
http://math.nist.gov/javanumerics/
But I think you'll be on your own with elements, inputs, etc.
Could be an interesting thing to do properly with interfaces, an XML input stream, etc.
Academic, work, or just interest?

    Hey Everyone
    I have a strange problems, I am using jfree package with my java application to generate Gantt chart and it was working fine before my computer crashed for other reason, I install everything and now i am having the following error and I have no clue why it is doing.
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: kernel/TT

    I hope anyone can help me out.
    thanks

    jfree can't find something it needs.
    Verify that your Java program includes any required jfree import statements
    Your classpath may be missing an entry. Review the jfree installation instructions and verify that nothing is missing.

  • LabVIEW and Finite Element Analysis

    I would like to know how people have used LabVIEW for/with finite element modeling (FEM), either LabVIEW itself or LabVIEW interacting with third-party FEM software.
    Sincerely,
    Don

    Don,
    I have not seen applications built in LabVIEW that perform finite element modeling. While I am not entirely familiar with the intricacies of FEM, I do know that the process entails a great deal of advanced mathematics. LabVIEW does have VIs for performing various math functions including differential equation solvers. If you wanted to use LabVIEW for FEM, you can also consider the use of the MathScript node and the MathScript window to write m-script code for these mathematical functions.
    I may be able to provide additional information if you could provide an example of your FEM application. How intricate is the model for the object that you will be modeling? For example, will you be analyzing forces and torques on a beam, or will you be modeling an asymmetrical collision of a car into a wall? Do you know the sort of calculations will your application entail?
    At this time, LabVIEW does not have an easy means of communicating with a 3rd party FEM software. Again I would ask in what respect you would like to interact with alternative software. Do you want to see a visual representation of the physical object that you are analyzing? LabVIEW can easily interact with SolidWorks software for 3D modeling, but not a software package that would perform finite element analysis. Would you like to develop a front panel for an analysis application that is performed in another software? This may be possible if we further discuss the details.
    Finally, I can encourage you to submit any product suggestions at the National Instruments Product Suggestion Center. Our LabVIEW developers carefully consider each of these suggestions, and any input you have as to how our application can better serve you would be greatly valued.
    I apologize that I do not have a more concrete answer for you, but I hope that this information was useful for you. Please let me know if you would like to discuss this application further. Thanks,
    Mike

    Hello kkjmt,
    could you please describe what type of data you want to read from the file ? Is it geometry information describing the geometry of the mesh or do you want to read result data e.g. temperature calculated at a vertex of the mesh ? or both ? In any case it woul dbe helpful to see an example of the data file.

  • System copy : As Java : Non-unicode kernel Option not available

    Dear All,
    we are performing AS Java system copy to create a new system , same SID , same HOST and same Configuration except OS is upgraded.
    Susle Linux OS - 11 SP3
    As Java Nw 701
    kernel version -
    NW701 - Kernel 721_Ext - Non_unicode - 201 patch level
    We have successfully completed export and now we are importing the same export in new server,now while performing taget installation we are not getting option to install NON UNICODE kernel , except it is only asking for UC Kernel 7.20/7.21.
    Current version of system is non-unicode and we will like to keep it that way.
    May I know is non-unicode system copy option is not available? is it removed ?
    and if we want to install non-unicode then how we can perform that ?
    Can we install target system using UC kernel and later just perform NON-unicode kernel upgrade, will this work?
    Has anyone faced such concern?
    Guidance will be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Bond

    Thanks for  update RB.
    We have tried this method as in we stop SAP and sync file systems and perform DB/Backup restore method. This method works but unfortunately I am not able to find any SAP relevant document to support this method for so called "java" systems.
    SAP only suggest to perform system copy for "java" hence we are trying via export import. Currently I am looking into options of using old master installation software.
    although, can i request you if you any SAP relevant note or kba or any other in which SAP support/suggest we can perform file system copy and db restore for "Java" systems then it will be just a thing which I need to go ahead with method you suggested.
    Thanks , kindly update.

  • Acrobat 3d import finite element model

    I'm trying to figure out how to import a finite element solution into acrobat 3d, very similar to this:
    http://www.acrobatusers.com/tech_corners/3d/3d_gallery/index.php?galleryimage=stress_plot
    So far I have only been able to import the geometry using STL files. I am trying to figure out how to also import scalar data that is attached to the geometry so that I can map data onto the surface using false color maps.

    Chris,
    That looks like it was probably a VRML import.
    Although this is from a 3D printer company, the same ideas apply.
    http://www.atpdev.com/images/FEA%20Tech%20Sheet%20.pdf
    They give a list of FEA software that exports color VRML.

  • Finite element mesh?

    Hi,
    I am trying to draw a structure which I usually model using finite element analysis. In order to get high quality illustrations I was hoping to redraw it in illustrator. My problem is that I'd need a fill that creates only intact squares, in FE terms this is called advancing front mesher, i.e. squares are created starting at the outline and then work there way towads the centre. Is there a way to do that in illustrator? A standard "grid" fill doesn't work as it produces incomplete squares at the edges.
    thanks for help!

    Well hereis anotherway that might work for you I made a grid as before but this time a narrow one with say 4 Columns and 30 rows I expanded the grid, not sure that part is necessary. Then I went to Object >Envelop Distort >Make with Mesh gave it one column and 4 Rows of cousre it could be only one or tow or three rows or more if you wish.
    Then I use the direct select tool to form the shape I wanted rather than try to make the grid conform to the shape I simply shaped the grid.

  • In .java add elements to .jsp

    Hello!
    I'm just beginning and can't understand one thing:
    When I create JSPDynPage, system create JSP and JAVA file - it's clear. Then I add elements to form in JSP, for example, Layout.
    Can I add, for example, row into that Layout in .java file?
        .JSP:
    <hbj:form>
             <hbj:formLayout
                 id="myLayout"
                 width="100%">
                 <hbj:formLayoutRow

                         <hbj:formLayoutCell
                                 id="Cell11"
                                 align="LEFT"
                                 width="100%">
                                 <hbj:textView
                                     id="welcome_message"
                                     text="May the force be with you unknown user"
                                     design="HEADER1" />
                           </hbj:formLayoutCell>
                   </hbj:formLayoutRow>
               </hbj:formLayout>
        </hbj:form>
    .JAVA:
    public void doProcessBeforeOutput() throws PageException {
             this.setJspName("myjsp.jsp");
          Form Reg_Form = null;
          FormLayout RF_All  = new FormLayout();
          Tray Left_Tray1 = new Tray("TrayRules1");
           Reg_Form = (Form)this.getForm();
           RF_All = (FormLayout) this.getComponentByName("myLayout");
           for (int i = 1; i <= 3; i++ ) {     RF_All.addRow(); }
           Left_Tray1.setTitle("Sample Title");
           Left_Tray1.setWidth("100%");
           TextView Left_Tray1_text = new TextView("Left_Tray1_text");
           Left_Tray1_text.setText("Sample Text");
           Left_Tray1_text.setEncode(false);
           Left_Tray1_text.setWrapping(true);
           Left_Tray1.addComponent(Left_Tray1_text);
           RF_All.addComponent(2,1, Left_Tray1);
           Reg_Form.addComponent(RF_All);
    That code don't display Tray in page...

    Paul,
    I suggest you  not to add the your business logic in that auto generated file.
    Instead you can have seperate java file or any Bean.
    Since you are writing the logic for layout you can add the code in the jsp file
    itself.
    If you are using HTMLB Then keep the auto generated code in the jsp otherwise remove the code and keep the file as jsp meaning you use the html, javascript,
    jsp code in the .jsp file itself.
    you can add the java code in the jsp
    <% String strName = "SAP"; %>
    <sc ript>
    al ert("<%=strName%>");
    </sc ript>

  • I18n Support for WD-Java UI Elements on CE 7.10, Particularly Chinese text

    Hello Experts,
    Using NWDS 7.10 SP5, I have followed the Tutorial : Developing International
    WebDynpro Applications
    (cf. http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en
    /44/f0674039c6c549e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm)
    to create a WD-Java program with three languages : English, German and Chinese.
    I can see that the files below
    Location.dtsimpletytype
    Location.dtsimpletytype_de.xlf
    Location.dtsimpletytype_de.properties
    Location.dtsimpletytype_zh.xlf
    Location.dtsimpletytype_zh.properties

    I18nView0.wdview_de.xlf
    I18nView0.wdview_de.properties
    I18nView0.wdview_zh.xlf
    I18nView0.wdview_zh.properties
    are generated in the related folders.
    The build EAR file is deployed a CE 7.10 SP7 instance.
    The English and German versions of UI are working fine; however, the Chinese version is missing.
    I checked inside the generated JAR file (company.com~i18ntest.jar) and found the following files :
    (Simple Type Resource Properties File)
    simpleTypeResource.properties
    simpleTypeResource_de.properties
    simpleTypeResource_en.properties
    (WD Component Text Resource Properties File)
    ResouceI18nComp01.properties
    ResouceI18nComp01_de.properties
    ResouceI18nComp01_en.properties
    There is no *_zh.properties file in there !
    I am wondering whether I have missing something or WD-Java for CE 7.10 does
    support Chinese (or other asian languages) UI element/message at all ??
    Any info will be much appreciated !

  • Can WPF be used to perform finite element analysis?

    Hi All,
    We are using C#.net, WPF to build a visualization application to mathematically design 3d models for optimization and interface it with Pro E Wildfire. We are able to derive the unstructured wireframe of the model, but would like to view it with a structured

  • Java Programming - Import Element.jar

    Really need help here, hope any java gurus can assist me in this. I'm trying to run a simple programme here:
    import element.*;
    class MethodDrawing
    public static void main(String[] args)
    DrawingWindow d = new DrawingWindow(500,500);
    d.moveTo(100,100);
    d.lineTo(100,150);
    After compiling I got an error saying "Package Element does not exist.
    After some researches, I understand that I need to set my CLASSPATH to the jar file. Thus, I did the following;
    - I inserted element.jar in the directory "c:\cis109\element.jar".
    - Program directory "c:\cis109\javacourse\
    exercise1\MethodDrawing.java"
    - I also set CLASSPATH variable to "c:\cis109\element.jar;c:\javacourse;.\
    After all I've done the same error occurs. I'm running on WinXP. Any solutions ?

    Hey Guys! I am having the same problem. I have come to a real dead-end. Did you manage to work out what the problem is?
    Was hoping to get past Chapter 5 today but I have tried everything and can't get anywhere. That CLASSPATH thing is driving me demented!Ok, I assume you're on Windows 2000, XP or Vista (English language).
    1 - copy the file MethodDrawing.java* and elements.jar into C:\Temp;
    2 - open your command prompt by pressing the 'Start' button, select 'Run', type "cmd" and press the button 'OK';
    3 - on the command promt, navigate to C:\Temp:cd C:\Temp4 - compile your java-file: javac -cp .;elements.jar MethodDrawing.java5 - run the compiled class-file: java -cp .;elements.jar MethodDrawingIf you do this exactly as I posted, it will work.
    * the file MethodDrawing.java should look exactly like this:
    import element.*;
    public class MethodDrawing
        public static void main(String[] args)
            DrawingWindow d = new DrawingWindow(500,500);
            d.moveTo(100,100);
            d.lineTo(100,150);
    }I even uploaded all files necessary to run that code snippet (I also have that book by D. Bailey). You can find it here:

  • Optimization library in Java?

    I am wondering if there exit any Java classes that allow you to solve optimization problems (and more specifically, integer problems).
    Anyone has an idea? thank you.

    http://www.Opsresearch.com
    Take a look there, they provide a jar which maybe will help you.
    Another possibility would be to write it yourself, a good operations research book shows you many algorythms in sums and elementary mathematical expresions, so it isn't so difficult to implement them (i myself once have written a simplex algorythm, which e.g. can also be used to solve equation systems).
    I don't think such classes will be default, since many new heuristic algorythms become developed, and e.g. there is no "computer" easy way to solve any type of differential equations (there are only methods for specific types), and often you have to change your finite-elements specific to your problem.
    Especially numerical solvers is a huge area, and if u care of goodness of solutions, there is also no generic way. The one barrier function isn't so good for another problem.
    Also some algorythms are still computation-power-expensive, so many people will abandon Java for such problems, even if the difference in performance isn't so big today (through JIT and even some native compilers). There some people even write routines in Assembler, because speed is essential (Traveling Salesman Problem - Class NP full, or how you call this in english, here heuristics like genetic algorythms are often used).
