Java install problem under redhat 9

I download rpm and install it under redhat 9. I can compile program (the class file is generated) but can not run it.
I checked the path and see /usr/java/j2sdk1.4.2_04. WHen I check the version, it tell me version "1.3.1". It soulds like I have 2 different version of java installed. How can I solve this problem?
Thanks

Probably not a mix up. Try to update your path wirh the path to the bin directory of the java version you want to use. Something like :
export PATH=/usr/java/j2sdk1.4.2_04/bin:$PATH

  • SDK install problems on Redhat 7.1

    Hi
I'm having problems getting the SDK to work on Redhat 7.1.
My path variable is set up corectly, and get the following errors when I do a java -version
java: /usr/bin/cut: No such file or directory
usr/lib/jdk1.3.0_02/bin/i386/native_threads/java: error loading shared libraries: libjvm.so :cannot load shared object file: No such file or directory
I've tried the following: copying libjvm.so to my /usr/lib directory and creating a "cut" file under /usr/bin. That took care of the error msgs, but now I get a core dump.
Does anybody know why this is happening?? I running the same SDK on SuSE without any problems.
    Please help!!

Lots of people talk about this problem with RedHat 7.1
I know this sounds crazy but you could download jBuilder from borland and get a Sun jdk that works.
    That's what I did.
I can't figure out what's up with the Sun download but look at the permissions.
    For the second guy
If the file had a .bin on the end of it it's a bash script that the permission is screwed up on I bet ??
You might want to move the file off the system and put it back as user. Don't know, seems like if you change the permission as root or run as root you might end up with an unusable jdk (permissions all screwed up) ???

I have already compiled J2sdk1.4.2 and JMF2.1.1e performance pack for linux and they both work alright under Redhat linux 9. JMStudio works fine to playback audio files. The problem I'm having is when I try to transmit and receive audio files through AVTransmit2, AVReceive2 and JMStudio!! They just don't work!!
AVTransmit2 and JMStudio just starts to transmit but on the receiving end both jmstudio and avreceiver2 just waits for rtp data but none arrives!!
Can anyone help me with this problem?? I've already tried spending a whole day cranking my brain about this!!

What is the name of your installer file? have you downloaded the one for
    Linux OS?
make sure you FTPed the installer file in binary mode.

  • Oracle9i install problems on RedHat 7.1

    Hi!
I'm having problems installing Oracle9i database on a redhat 7.1 server. I get some permission errors and som "unable to pend Makefile to" (or something). I've tried installing a version of binutils a little below the version that ships with redhat 7.1, but that doesn't do the trick!
    Anyone knows, whats wrong?
    null

I've now succesfully installed Oracle9i on Red Hat 7.1. The only thing that I needed to do ,was to manualy copy some java files from the local Java dir to where Oracle wanted them on /u01 and Voila!

  • 9i Install Problem on RedHat 7.2

I got a problem while installing 9i enterprise on RedHat 7.2. The link problem can't find library -lclntch or -lclntsh (can't remember clearly) when making oracle/plsql. Anyone can help me?

Mike, keep in touch. Perhaps we can benefit from a little mindshare. Perhaps you can describe what you're encountering in more detail.
For those that are following, I've managed to get the software to install consistently using the above fix thanks!
[my earlier issues were related to, not suprisingly, a messy attempt at downgrading binutils, which worked out to be unnecessary]
However, the example database creation hangs. Now, I know it's supposed to take an hour or so, but after 3 or 4 hours it's still at %50 ... Any suggestions? I'm going to try to do the dbcreate manually ...
Gents, please be detailed about your issues and solutions. Hopefully we can get an impromptu RedHat install guide out of this thread! Don't forget to write it up when you find a fix.

Aside: Is 9i on RH7.1/2 a certified config? Wouldn't that suggest there should be a functional installation procedure or guide? Oracle?

  • Oracle9iR2 install problem on RedHat 7.1

I downloaded the new R2 release (9.2) & can not get the installer (OUI) to run.
It says that it is initializing the JVM, then goes away. A core dump is produced in /tmp
I was able to install 9.0.1 successfully last year. The OUI from 9.0.1 will not install the new version, so I need to get the new OUI running.
BTW - Oracle tells me that 9iR2 will only be certified on RedHat Advanced Server 2.1!

  • JAVA Install problem with EP Sneak Preview

I am trying to install the Enteprise Portal Sneak Preview edition from the SDN website.  According to the instructions it asks for me to download the JDK from sun website and use it.  However when I run the SAPINST program, and try to install according to the instructions, the install asks me for the SAP JAVA CD, which I dont have (there is no download for it)  And I can not proceed any further.
I am stuck on this bump for three days now and want to start working on this tool.
    Any help is greatly appreciated

    hi,
i just popped in as i am also considering the installation of the ep 6.0 sneak preview (i just finished downloading the necessary files).
i had a look at the quick install. guide, and of course i am facing questions straight away...
i've got the j2sdk1.4.2_05 (dev.kit) runnning and the j2re1.4.2_05 (runtime environment).
under requirements the guide says JDK 1.4.2_06 ...
does it really have to be 1.4.2_06 or is my 05 version sufficient?
at sun.com they've got 07 in the shelf for download...
higher versions will do, or not?
I just downloaded j2eesdk-1_4-windows.exe (in case I might need it - but if so, is that the right tool?)
are there any other pain points, which might appear and where the inst. guide is not clear?
    thanx for your input,

If you have time, could you please also let me know how the rest
of the installation go and what was the best support reference

  • Install Problems under Windows 2000

I have recently upgraded my machine from WinNT4 SP6 to Windows 2000 Professional, and now I cannot install JDeveloper. I have tried 3.1, 3.2 and 3.2.2 and all of them hang at different stages during the installation. There is no error message, the install application just stops responding.

I haven't had problems with any other products installing. I have tried installing JDeveloper 3.2.2 with the bare minimum of components as well as trying the typical installation and nothing seems to work, Im not running anything in the background. The system is a HP Kayak XM600 with an intel PIII 800Mhz 256Mb RAM and an ELSA Synergy graphics card. Someone else I know tried to install it on a Dell machine with a different setup, but under Win2000 Professional, and the install failed on them as well.

  • Install problems under Vista

First I installed Captivate 3 trial on Vista. It worked fine,
I was using a non-Admin-account (but with granted admin rights).
When the trial expired I decided to buy the Technical Communication
Suite and the trouble began. I installed it and activated
FrameMaker successfully. FrameMaker, Acrobat and RoboHelp startup
successfully, but Captivate always comes up with "trial expired".
After several install/remove/install cycles I figured out
that I cannot get rid of the "trial expired" screen in Captivate
unless I use "Start as Administrator" from the Windows file
explorer context menu. When I login as (the one and only)
Administrator no problem arises. Now Captivate works also under the
regular account, but asks on every startup if I would allow to
    start it with Administrator rights.
Even worse is that on right clicks (e.g. to the start icon)
Acrobat install starts and tries to configure something.
Could somebody please help me? I guess there should be just
some left-over files or registry entries which must be corrected.
I have a Production Suite CS3 installation on the same PC and
I'm not that happy with the recommendation of Adobe Tech Support
just to remove everything from my PC and install everything from
scratch. It's like telling me "go and get a new PC". This is a very
bad buyers experience, you buy something and feel
    punished...

Hi there netsuxxess and welcome to our community
Sorry you are having issues. First off, note that I'm not an
Adobe employee. In fact, they rarely visit here. Occasionally they
will if we ask them to. Or they look in for a short period after a
new product release. But other than that, we are pure user-to-user
    support.
The fact is, you have the Technical Communication Suite. This
is a package of four components (FrameMaker, RoboHelp, Captivate
and Acrobat Pro 3D) that have been designed to work together. So
you have special versions of each that are only available by
purchasing the suite. As you apparently downloaded the stand alone
trial of Captivate only, I'm guessing that is causing the issue
with the operation of it as opposed to other suite components.
I know it probably won't sit well with you, but you should
probably try Adobe's suggestion of uninstalling to start over.
However, I'm not sure I'd suggest uninstalling everything. I'd
    probably try the following approach.
    Uninstall the TCS.
Install the Captivate 3 trial, then uninstall it. (It wasn't
clear if you performed an uninstall of the Captivate 3 trial prior
to installing the TCS. As the TCS and the stand alone verison are
different, I'm thinking that if you simply installed the TCS
without first uninstalling the trial, this could be what caused the
issue. So I'm suggesting a special uninstall of the trial only in
the hopes that it will help cure the issue)
Reinstall the TCS and hopefully things will be better.
If that fails to work, you are probably in for a call to
support to help unravel and correct the issue.
I know it's a pain, but Adobe is huge with a vast array of
products. Many products (such as Captivate) were acquired from
other companies. So I'm sure that Adobe is still today working to
make them coexist more seamlessly. You have many different
departments involved. For example, even with simple stand alone
Captivate, another department handles the installation bits. So
it's quite possible that some routine with installation isn't all
that familiar to even the staff handling the actual product
    development.
Hopefully something here was helpful... Rick
