JAVA iso9660/UDF file system creation

Is there a class or utility in JAVA that will allow the creation of an iso9660 file system for CD's and/or the creation of a UDF file system for DVD's? I am looking for such a class to incorporate into an applcation that is currently under development, and would rather not have to write our own.
Thanks.

First check the mkfs_udfs((1M) manualpage, it displays some information regarding this. Next you may benefit from the fsdb_udfs(1M) command to display certain options. But with regards to blocksize and the likes the first manpage should do.

  • [Java 7] Zip file system does not handle nested zip files

The ZIP FileSystem which is shipped as an extension with Java7 does not support nested ZIP files. I.e., you can open the outer zip file as a FileSystem, but if you try to open an inner zip as a FileSystem, you get this exception:
    java.nio.file.ProviderNotFoundException: Provider not found
at java.nio.file.FileSystems.newFileSystem(FileSystems.java:403)Since the ZIP FileSystem is an extension, and not a part of the core JDK, I'm posting this here (and on Xueming's blog) in the hope that it will get resolved. It doesn't seem right to report it as a JDK bug.

The zip file system definitely allows zip entries to be read without extracting them first. And--based on reviewing the ZipFS source code that Oracle has included with the JDK--it doesn't appear to be silently extracting the data to a temporary file.you missed the point of what Peter Lawrey said. in order to create a ZipFS on a zip file, it must be a file in the first place (i.e. have random access). there is no way to do random access on an entry within an existing zip file, therefore in order to create a ZipFS on a nested zip file, you would first have to extract it to a file.

  • Need help with File system creation fro Oracle DB installation

    Hello,
I am new to Solaris/Unix system landscape. I have a Sun enterprise 450 with 18GB hard drive. It has Solaris 9 on it and no other software at this time. I am planning on adding 2 more hard drives 18gb and 36gb to accommodate Oracle DB.
Recently I went through the Solaris Intermediate Sys admin training, knows the basic stuff but not fully confident to carry out the task on my own.
I would appreciate some one can help me with the sequence of steps that I need perform to
    1. recognize the new hard drives in the system,
    2. format,
    3. partition. What is the normal strategy for partitioning? My current thinking is to have 36+18gb drives as data drives. This is where I am little bit lost. Can I make a entire 36GB drive as 1 slice for data, I am not quite sure how this is done in the real life, need your help.
    4. creating the file system to store the database files.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello,
Here is the rough idea for HA from my experience.
The important thing is that the binaries required to run SAP
are to be accessible before and after switchover.
In terms of this file system doesn't matter.
But SAP may recommend certain filesystem on linux
please refer to SAP installation guide.
I always use reiserfs or ext3fs.
For soft link I recommend you to refer SAP installation guide.
In your configuration the files related to SCS and DB is the key.
Again those files are to be accessible both from hostA and from hostB.
Easiest way is to use share these files like NFS or other shared file system
so that both nodes can access to these files.
And let the clustering software do mount and unmount those directory.
DB binaries, data and log are to be placed in shared storage subsystem.
    (ex. /oracle/*)
SAP binaries, profiles and so on to be placed in shared storage as well.
    (ex. /sapmnt/*)
You may want to place the binaries into local disk to make sure the binaries
are always accessible on OS level, even in the connection to storage subsystem
    losts.
In this case you have to sync the binaries on both nodes manually.
Easiest way is just put on shared storage and mount them!
Furthermore you can use sapcpe function to sync necessary binaries
    from /sapmnt to /usr/sap/<SID>.
For your last question /sapmnt should be located in storage subsystem
and not let the storage down!

  • File drag and drop from java app to file system - Linux problem

    Hi all,
I am developing an application for files archiving, with a graphical user interface. The files are showed in a JList, and I implemented drag and drop feature for it. It works well for Windows platform, but not at all for Linux (Ubuntu).
Under Linux, file export with DND from the archive to file system does not work.
To extract a file with DND, we can't know the target destination folder, so I create a temp file (file extracted from the archive is wrote to OS tmp dir), and the system is expected to handle the DND action.
The temp file is correctly created (original data is well retrieved), but Ubuntu does not want to copy or move it via DND.
I get a system dialog window (while extracting file "test1") :
    Error while moving
There was an error getting information about "[tmp/60lp1t7egl/test1]".
Show more details > Operation not supported
    (Cancel, Skip all, Skip, Retry)
Can it be a rights problem ?
    Any idea ?
    Regards,
    Biibox

Until the 3rd party image editor developers provide us with the Photos extensions for using their app from within Photo we'll have to export to the Desktop, edit there in the apps and either import the new file into Photos or use it elsewhere.

  • Difference between ASM Disk Group, ADVM Volume and ACFS File system

Q1. What is the difference between an ASM Disk Group and an ADVM Volume ?
To my mind, an ASM Disk Group is effectively a logical volume for Database files ( including FRA files ).
11gR2 seems to have introduced the concepts of ADVM volumes and ACFS File Systems.
An 11gR2 ASM Disk Group can contain :
    ASM Disks
    ADVM volumes
    ACFS file systems
Q2. ADVM volumes appear to be dynamic volumes.
However is this therefore not effectively layering a logical volume ( the ADVM volume ) beneath an ASM Disk Group ( conceptually a logical volume as well ) ?
Worse still if you have left ASM Disk Group Redundancy to the hardware RAID / SAN level ( as Oracle recommend ), you could effectively have 3 layers of logical disk ? ( ASM on top of ADVM on top of RAID/SAN ) ?
Q3. if it is 2 layers of logical disk ( i.e. ASM on top of ADVM ), what makes this better than 2 layers using a 3rd party volume manager ( eg ASM on top of 3rd party LVM ) - something Oracle encourages against ?
Q4. ACFS File systems, seem to be clustered file systems for non database files including ORACLE_HOMEs, application exe's etc ( but NOT GRID_HOME, OS root, OCR's or Voting disks )
Can you create / modify ACFS file systems using ASM.
The oracle toplogy diagram for ASM in the 11gR2 ASM Admin guide, shows ACFS as part of ASM. I am not sure from this if ACFS is part of ASM or ASM sits on top of ACFS ?
Q5. Connected to Q4. there seems to be a number of different ways, ACFS file systems can be created ? Which of the below are valid methods ?
    through ASM ?
through native OS file system creation ?
    through OEM ?
    through acfsutil ?
    my head is exploding
Any help and clarification greatly appreciated
    Jim

Q1 - ADVM volume is a type of special file created in the ASM DG.  Once created, it creates a block device on the OS itself that can be used just like any other block device.  http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E16655_01/server.121/e17612/asmfilesystem.htm#OSTMG30000
Q2 - the asm disk group is a disk group, not really a logical volume.  It combines attributes of both when used for database purposes, as the database and certain other applications know how to talk "ASM" protocol.  However, you won't find any general purpose applications that can do so.  In addition, some customers prefer to deal directly with file systems and volume devices, which ADVM is made to do.  In your way of thinking, you could have 3 layers of logical disk, but each of them provides different attributes and characteristics.  This is not a bad thing though, as each has a slightly different focus - os file system\device, database specific, and storage centric.
Q3 - ADVM is specifically developed to extend the characteristics of ASM for use by general OS applications.  It understands the database performance characteristics and is tuned to work well in that situation.  Because it is developed in house, it takes advantage of the ASM design model.  Additionally, rather than having to contact multiple vendors for support, your support is limited to calling Oracle, a one-stop shop.
Q4 - You can create and modify ACFS file systems using command line tools and ASMCA.  Creating and modifying logical volumes happens through SQL(ASM), asmcmd, and ASMCA.  EM can also be used for both items.  ACFS sits on top of ADVM, which is a file in an ASM disk group.  ACFS is aware of the characteristics of ASM\ADVM volumes, and tunes it's IO to make best use of those characteristics.
    Q5 - several ways:
    1) Connect to ASM with SQL, use 'alter diskgroup add volume' as Mihael points out.  This creates an ADVM volume.  Then, format the volume using 'mkfs' (*nix) or acfsformat (windows).
    2) Use ASMCA - A gui to create a volume and format a file system.  Probably the easiest if your head is exploding.
    3) Use 'asmcmd' to create a volume, and 'mkfs' to format the ACFS file system.
Here is information on ASMCA, with examples:

  • Analysis Services failing to Start . File system error: Error occurred during the creation of directory

    Hello All,
Posting this problem here and hoping for a solution from the experts in this forum.
When i have restarted the Analysis Services , i see that it has been stopped but never started back. It fails with an error
"The SQL Server Analysis Services (MSSQLSERVER) service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs."
When Checked the Event Viewer i see the following error -
The service cannot be started: The following system error occurred:  The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.  File system error: Error occurred during the creation of directory: '\\?\E:\OLAP\MSSOLAPFactory\OlapData;M:\Test

I remember changing the BackupDir value of Analysis Services few days back, and i think it could have impacted. Can you please help me how can i change back the BackupDir value and have the server back?
Let me know if you need any more details
    SG

Is this still an issue? If so, I would find msmdsrv.ini and make sure you don't have two folders listed in the BackupDir (or DataDir or TempDir). You'll have to runas Administrator to edit the msmdsrv.ini file and save changes. Once you fix that, it should
    succeed.

  • Java Card File System ...Please reply

    Hi all ,
I am working on Java Card technology for last one year . Presently I am facing some problem regarding some file concept of java card .
I know that Java Card 2.1 does not support file system . But I want to simulate the file system in java card using applets . i.e . I want to write an application(applet) , which can simulate the EF , DF in smart card . Whenever APDU command is send to the file system applet , it should generate a Elementary file (EF) or dedicated file (DF) etc and store data to that file.
Can I do this type of thing using Java Card ? I am really in doubt .
If you have any idea on this , please let me know your view on this . If you know any open source code for this type of simulated Java card file system , please let me know .
I am desperately looking for a help .

  • ECC6 EHP2 (ABAP+Java)  system copy using file system copy

    Hello Experts,
I have a question around system copy method for a dual stack ECC6 EHP2 system.
We are planning to take full file system backup of this entire ECC6 EHP2 dual stack system and throw it on a completely new hardware with new host name but same SID.  We are also planning to do a host renaming in instance profiles and re-building the control files in target system after we finish the file system restore.
Is this method supported in SAP ? Or we strictly have to use  SAPinst to do export and import method.  In any case our source and target platform is not going to chance as per our scenario.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Harshal

    > Thanks for the quick response. Is their any document that says it is not supported ?  Because of no proper document that says no to do it, client want's to try it out.
For the ABAP part this is certainly feasible.
The Java part has not only issues with the secure store but also with SID and hostname. The old values are stored in many places in the database and in, depending on the applications installed, many .properties files in the filesystem. So it would be not enough to somehow regenerate the secure store but also change hostname and SID in different places that are not really all documented.
What you are basically looking for is
Note 757692 - Changing the hostname for J2EE Engine 6.40/7.0 installation
    with the significant sentence
This note should be applied only when the hostname of a machine
where the j2ee engine was already installed has changed.
It does not replace the SAP official system copy procedure and
MUST NOT be used for copying of an instance to another host and/or with different SID.

  • Java IO on top of a second file system layer

I have created a second file system on top of an existing file system, and I have java executing Java and Python(Jython) how would I get the IO they use to link to my file system and not the OS' file system?

    Dennis56 wrote:

Are you suggesting that you have created something like windows shared drives or windows condensed drives?
Because that is the only way you could create a IO system on "top" of an existing system. And if you have successfully done that then you do not need to do anything to java/python except 'point' them to the new location such as using a driver letter for a windows shared drive.
On the other hand if you have a bunch of java/python applications and you want to implement some other sort of file system then you would need to modify the virtual machines and the APIs of both of those.
And regardless all of the above WILL be a lot of work.
Now if you have some idea to implement a library that is useable (not replacement) for java/python apps then you
    1. Create the library
    2. Use the library
That solution requires a lot less work. Although certainly more than a trivial amount.

  • How to design a file system based on java card

I have reviewed all kinds of articles about it.And right now I can not find any source code to do that function. But how to design a full gsm file system using java card.
of course you need fast access, dynamic allocate memory, file properties management.Let's talk about it.

    just do it.
there is no such feature in the javacard api. This must be coded by hand, you have to manage memory, etc.
    I know, that's not cool.

  • After Restoring/Backup of File System XI Java Instances are not up!

    Hello all,
We are facing problem in restoring the SAP XI System, after taking backup of the system the <b>java instances</b> in SAP XI System are not starting again. ABAP connections are fine.
Can anyone provide suggestions/solutions in order to restore the XI System back.
The system information is as follows.
    System Component:     SAP NetWeaver 2004s, <b>PI 7.0</b>
Operating System:     SunOS 5.9, SunOS 5.10
    Database:          ORACLE 9.2.0.
    Regards,
    Ketan Patel

    If it´s REALLY a PI 7.0 (SAP_BASIS 700 and WebAS Java 7.00) then it´s not compatible. WebAS 7.00 needs Oracle 10g (http://service.sap.com/pam)
    Also see
    http://service.sap.com/nw2004s
    --> Availibility
    --> SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (2004s) PAM
If you open the Powerpoint, you will see that Oracle 9 is not listed. I wonder, how you got that installed.
Neverless, if you recover a Java instance, both filesystem and database content (of the Java schema) must be in sync, means, you need to restore both, database (schema) and filesystem, that have been backed up at the same time.
Check Java Backup and Restore :
    Restoring the System
           1.      Shut down the system.
           2.      Install a new AS Java system using SAPInst, or restore the file system from the offline backups that you created.
           3.      Import the database backup using the relevant tools provided by the database vendor.
           4.      Overwrite the SAP system directory /usr/sap/.
           5.      Start the system (see Starting and Stopping SAP NetWeaver ABAP and Java.)
The J2EE Engine is restored with the last backup.

I would also like to reframe my problem.
XI server(both abap and Web) was working fine. Every weekend we take full backup(file system+DB)(UFS) of server. After taking backup server got up and we were able to login through abap but java web page was not openning. We did some troubleshooting it didn't work and finaly we restored the backup and somehow it worked. Next week after backup again same problem arose. We again restored latest backup but this time problem still exists.
