Java.lang.instrumentation (looking for examples, code snippets)

I'm exploring the use of java.lang.instrumentation, management for a variety of tasks such as profiling, monitoring, etc.
I'm looking for some code snippets and examples to get me bootstrapped. Didn't find any doing a search.

Unfortunately there aren't any examples of java.lang.instrument usage available yet. I will try to rectify this.
java.lang.instrument.Instrumentation is an interface, but it is not an interface that users of java.lang.instrument implement. A single instance of a class, internal to the JRE, which implements this interface is created if and only if the -javaagent flag is used. This sole instance is then passed into the premain method.

I'm looking for examples of CAN control code with LabWindows CVI.

    Hi,
The NI-CAN driver installs some examples for both the frame API and Channel API (NI-CAN 2.0).
    The typical installation directory is:
    C:\Program Files\National Instruments\MeasurementStudio\CVI\samples\nican.
It might change depending on where you installed CVI.

  • Java.lang.instrument related question.

    Hi, all
    Small question regardign java.lang.instrument.
java.lang.instrument package docs describes how the customer transformer ClassFileTransformer may be introduces using *-javaagent:{jar.file | class.name}* JVM command line arg. Looks rather obvious.
My question is as follows. This is about the JVM startup definitions. IDEs (for instace, IDEA I use) are able to reload recompiled classes during remote dubugging (the debuggee process is started with standard remote debug flags). How do they do it? - I mean how do they introduce their ClassFileTransformer to use it's redefine() during jmv's runtime?
Thanx in advance for any inputs
    Sincerely,
    Jabb

Security: you might not want all classes loaded off e. g. the internet to have full access to your computer.
Runtime code generation: you can make a class loader that rather generates java byte code than reads it from a source; think about optimizing arithmetic expression interpreters that you give an expression as a string like "x^8 + log(x)*sqrt(8+y)".. instead of generating the expression tree and traversing it every time values for x and y change, you could transparently generate a class that has a method that takes the variables as parameters and computes the value of the expression much much faster...

I am looking for some help to deploy the application in weblogic6.0.
This is what i did during the application deployment.
Create a new directory under config as a new application.
    D:\bea\wlserver6.0\config\test
under test created two other directories applications and logs.
Under the applications directory copied .ear and .war files.
Under the test i copied config.xml, all the *.pem starttest.cmd, fileRealam.properties
files. Modified the config.xml with my application, domain and the server. Modified
the settest.cmd with the new domain and server name.
when i do startup, it is prompting for the password and i entered what ever i mentioned

  • Looking for examples using BigDecimal

Two newbies to Java are looking for examples of code that use the BigDecimal features for rounding and truncating large numbers to more user-friendly values.
We are doing some hefty math calculations on values defined as doubles and want to round and truncate to within 1/100th for display purposes.
We've tried some stuff on our own, but it is not cooperating. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Looking for example of seurity domains

I'm looking for examples of code for implementing issuer security
domains as well as application providor domains. Having read the
GP documentation it seems rather strait forward, but I would like
still like an example if anyone knows of any. In particular one

I would recommend you contact a vendor because they issuer for the ISD. If you want to become an ISD, then you'll have to organize the applet to conform to your specifications.
Also, you need to contact a vendor because to perform delegation is outside the realm of developer cards. In other words, I don't know of any vendor that provides delegation implementation with developer cards.

    Hi Ray,
There are several ways to do this, and in the example I created, I actually did not end up using shift registers. I've attached some example code that basically multiplies the period by the duty cycle percentage to achieve the number of milliseconds to be high and low.
You would just need to insert your DIO code in each frame of the sequence structure.
    Hope that helps. Kind regards,

You're correct. I meant the DOMAIN_SYSTEM_PASSWORD password in my
<domain-name>domain.ksh file. The DOMAIN_SYSTEM_PASSWORD value (if
specified) has to match the system user's password or else the server will
    not start/stop.
I have determined more since my post. A startup class also produces the
same error. I have minimized my environments as follows and still receive
the exception, and a soon as I synchronize the system users' passwords on
the app/web server the problem goes away. Or, I can keep the passwords
different and just not access the app server EJBs until after the web server
finished loading, which also causes the error to go away. I'm just confused
about what I might be doing wrong.
    Steps to produce the error:
    App server:
    - Installed from 6.1.1.0 from scratch and started it up.
    - Changed the system user's password from the admin console, persisting the
    changes.
    - Modified logging settings to see more info in the log files.
    - Disabled instrument stack traces.
    - Stopped/Started the app server
    Web server:
    - Installed from 6.1.1.0 from scratch and started it up.
    - Modified logging settings to see more info in the log files.
    - Disabled instrument stack traces.
    - Added a servlet to the DefaultWebApp_insiteserver application
    - specified name and class
    - the load on startup setting defaulted to zero, which will cause the
    preloading
    - Added 3 jar files to the classpath to support the EJB call
    - Stopped/Started the web server
When the web server loads the servlet loads and tries to locate the EJB on
the app server. The app server throws the security exception. The app/web
servers are both running on the same SUN box, have the same IP address
(different ports) and I'm using non-SSL. Each server is it's own WLS
environment. The only installed file that is shared it the
weblogic_domain_registry.dat file in the root directory. As for security,
I'm doing nothing except changing one password (system user on the app
    server).
I then tried to manually upgrade the app/web servers to 6.1.2.0 by updating
the WEBLOGIC_ROOT in the respective xxxxdomain.ksh files. Same problem.
I then cleanly reinstalled the app/web servers using version 6.1.2.0 and
    configured as above. Same problem.
Let me know if I need to provide additional details.
    Thanks,
    Jed Zimmer

  • Still looking for examples

    Hi
I have heep of books on Java security, but am still looking for examples that show how to Create, Import and Export certificates PROGRAMMATICALLY.
Does anyone know where I can find these.
    regards

I can create certificates using Keytool, but I was wondering how to create certificates using java API

  • Java.lang.instrument.Instrumentation.getObjectSize(..) wrong in Jrockit

When using this method ( Instrumentation.getObjectSize(someObjectGraph) ) on Sun JVM HotSpot, I get accurate results.
When using on JRockit 1.6.0_26 I get result which is inaccurate by 8 bytes per object instance in the object graph.
I know the JavaDoc for the method leaves things ambiguous as to the accuracy of the result, but it would sure be great if JRockit could fix this.
Is there any way I can file a bug for this without having a support contract?

    To reproduce, simply do this:
    System.out.println("Size of new Object() is reported as: " + java.lang.instrument.Instrumentation.getObjectSize(new Object()) + " instead of 16");
(Of course 16 is not necessarily the expected size, depending upon compressed refs mode, etc.).

  • Looking for Source Codes

    hi everyone!
I am looking for source codes with the following characteristics:
    - significant data processing (like fft or image processing algorithms)
    - use of just a few classes and/or packages (it must not use awt or swing)
    - code is not so big (200 lines of code at most)
    - program is multithreaded (it is not necessary)
If anyone could help me, I would appreciate a lot.
    Thanks.

However, as also mentioned above, the best approach is to only pass discrete key values in URLs.
