Java Mail Exception

Hi,
I am using a javax mail program. The program is able to send mails at times, however when it does not work, it gives me the following exception.....
Sending failed; nested exception is: class javax.mail.SendFailedException: Invalid Addresses; nested exception is: class javax.mail.SendFailedException: 550 5.1.1 ... User unknown
Regds,
Sreenandan

Hello Projyal,
Thankyou for responding to my query. I've been able to send a mail even if the To email id is an invalid one. It's just that the mail sending is very inconsistent. Sometimes, I get this exceptions even if the recipient email id is a valid one.

    The exception is occurring when parsing the Content-Disposition header.
    I don't see that header in the list of headers you provided.
    Can you save the entire message to a text file using
    msg.writeTo(new FileOutputStream("msg.txt"));
    Then look for the Content-Disposition header in msg.txt. Most likely you'll
    find that it is incorrectly formatted - as the exception says, there's a comma
    in a place that a semicolon is expected.

  • Java Mail/EJB/WebLogic/weblogicSP6 "No Such Provider Exception"

    Hi,
    My application that is coded to send e-mail is not performing at all.
    Application architecture is as follows:
    1)JSP-EJB on Web Logic App server and
    2)SMTP Host is IIS server and its SMTP service.
    3)Using Java Mail API and installed Service Pack 6 of WebLogic that supports Java Mail API
    4)EJB Programs coded as per the Sun JavaMail API documentation.
    5)Send Mail occuring in the EJB.
    Runtime Error: "No such provider exception"
    Could u help me by instructing me about:
    1)weblogic service pack installation.
    2)sample ejb
    PS:Same code on a simple java class fired on command line is executing without any exception. Wheras in an EJB on Weblogic is throwing the exception.

    That error you are seeing typically comes from JavaMail being unable to
    contact the SMTP host. Are you sure that you are a valid user/permitted to
    access the mailer?
    Thanks,

  • Message Exception and Internet Address exception in Java mail API

    Hi,
    Using JAVA mail api while using sendmessage method i am getting Invalid address exception..TO address and from address are same as my mail id..Someone please tell why these exceptions come.
    Thanks..

    To prevent spammers using your system's mail transfer agent as a channel for spam most MTAs are set up to send message either from a recognised local address to a remote address, or from remote to local. "Unable to relay" generally means that your MTA doesn't recognise the machine that tried to send the e-mail as "local".
    You probably need to make changes to the configuration of the MTA (Sendmail or whatever) that runs on the machine you've designated as mail host.

    I don't know if there is a Java Mail specific forum or not, so I put this here.
    I'm getting an IOException when I attempt to send my message. Below is the full text I see. If you understand what I'm doing wrong, please let me know. The code it attempting to send a multipart MIME message. It has a body which is "See attached file(s).\n.". I also attached a small text file. Finally, since this was just going to be a test e-mail, I added myself as a recipient.

    when i set the folder as "Recently Deleted" or "Trash" , i get an exception as "folder does not exist".
    when i tested , some times mail is moving into Recently Deleted folder, but not every time.
    this is happening in both the interface as AOl Interface or my application.
    when i use folder.close(true) after setting the flag of message as DELETED. it completely remove the message from the acount.
    but i want to let the message be remained in the Recently Deleted folder. what should i do.
    i dont want to remove the message completely from the account.I am using IMAP also.

    You'll need to figure out what the real name of the "Recently Deleted" folder is on the AOL IMAP server
    (assuming it's a real folder and not some sort of "virtual" folder), then copy the message into that folder.
    See the folderlist.java demo program as a way to explore the names of all the folders on the server.

  • Error while sending mail when using Java Mail API

    Hi Experts,
    I am trying to execute a webdynpro application which uses the Java Mail API to send emails. The exception that I get on executing the application is :
    Sending failed;  nested exception is: javax.mail.SendFailedException: Invalid Addresses;  nested exception is: javax.mail.SendFailedException: 550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for [email protected]
    Can anybody please help me sort out the issue.
    Regards
    Abdullah

    Hi,
    Usually one get this error if the SMTP server is configured not to relay mails (a security measure) or the SMTP server need the mail to be sent from a trusted IP or with proper authentication. Some SMTP servers are configured to block junk mails.
    Pls check with your  mail server administrator.

  • Java Mail Madness - Doesn't Work but shows no errors ?

    What's up folks. I am trying to implement the java mail library. Unfortunately, I have a problem and I don't know how to track it down. Here is the code that I run in the Netbeans IDE.
    import java.io.*;
    import javax.mail.*;
    import javax.mail.internet.*;
    import javax.activation.*;
    public class SendApp {
    public static void send(String smtpHost, int smtpPort,
    String from, String to,
    String subject, String content)
    throws AddressException, MessagingException {
    // Create a mail session
    java.util.Properties props = new java.util.Properties();
    props.put("mail.smtp.host", smtpHost);
    props.put("mail.smtp.port", ""+smtpPort);
    Session session = Session.getDefaultInstance(props, null);
    // Construct the message
    Message msg = new MimeMessage(session);
    msg.setFrom(new InternetAddress(from));
    msg.setRecipient(Message.RecipientType.TO, new InternetAddress(to));
    msg.setSubject(subject);
    msg.setText(content);
    // Send the message
    Transport.send(msg);
    public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception {
    // Send a test message
    send("kernel", 25, "jd@kernel", "[email protected]",
    "re: dinner", "How about at 7?");
    Where kernel is the domain name of my computer. However, when I check my email at [email protected] (fake address) I don't see anything and the program exits with success. I don't know if this is cause of a problem with my Netbeans, my code, or my postfix smtp system. Any help is greatly appreciated !
    SIncerely,
    Justin Dallas

    Hi,
    Did you checked the log for any errors
    catch (Exception e) {
         System.out.println("Exception while sending mail" + e.getMessage());
         e.printStackTrace();
    Or else add the following line in your exception handler and check whether their is any error or not.
    wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportException(e.getMessage());

  • ADDRESS parse error in java mail

    Hi,
    I'm trying to retrieve the mails header and I get following error.
    javax.mail.MessagingException: Failed to load IMAP envelope: foldername=INBOX[uidvalidity:1222323518] : seqnum=1
    After digging source code of java mail I found that one of bad address is causing this problem. One of message is having following format of address.
    ("test" R "test" NIL "test1" "test.net.au").
    According to specifications (RFC 2060) address should have four component personal name, [SMTP] at-domain-list (source route), mailbox name, and host name. When java mail tries parse this address it throws address parsing exception.
    Is anyone have come across this issue? I want to know is there any way to handle this scenario. Since other mail client seems to handle it e.g. thunderbird

    It's possible. It's only software, after all.
    But it's not easy. It effectively involves
    screen scraping the HTML pages.
    There used to be a third party JavaMail provider
    that did all the hard work, but it has disappeared.

  • Problem in retrieving email using java mail api

    hi,
    In my project,i am retrieving mails from a particular email id.
    I am able to retrieve the latest mails and save it in a folder in my system.
    The problem is whenever i run the program eventhough the most recently received mail in inbox is retrieved and saved,again it is retrieving the same one and saving it in the same folder(not repeating).
    I tried to check the newmessages in the inbox using the folder.hasNewMessage() method in java mail api,but the method is returning false only regardless new mail is there in inbox or not.
    I want to read the unread messages only.Dont want to retrieve the already read mails.
    I got the mail retrieving code from the below site.(sorry not posting the code because it is so long and having 4 classes)
