Java mail - SSL POP3
Dear all,
Would you please help to solove the problem? In the code, my flow wen to the else case
I tried to connecton to Exchange server.
When I try to telnet the 995,

It seems the connection to 995 is OK.

It seems the connection to 995 is OK.There's something very basic about networking that you're not understanding.
The server is clearly refusing to allow you to connect, and yet you think
the connection is OK. It's not.
Talk to your mail server administrator and/or network administrator
to find out why you can't connect.

I've read many tutorials, as well as forums, and guides. Many are outdated or just didn't cover SSL at all. I think this SSL business with Gmail appears to be farely recent.

P.S: CHECKING !!
STEP 1.
First compile and execute the PROGRAM 1 with your USERNAME & PASSWORD. This will send a mail to your own account.
STEP 2.
Now compile both PART 1 & PART 2 of PROGRAM 2. Then, execute PART 1 - Main.java. This will retrive the mail sent in step 1. njoy! :)
In future, I hope this is added to the demo programs of the Java Mail API download package.
This is for 3 main reasons...
1. To prevent a lot of silly questions being posted on this forum [like the ones I did :(].
2. To give the first time Java Mail user with a real time working example without code modification [code has to use command line args like the demo programs - for instant results].

I did checked by enabling session debuging and also checked pop settings it's enabled for all
mails, I tried deleting some very old messages and now the message count is changed to 310.
This may be the problem with gmail.

Only 274 mails are coming when using pop3 with java mail
Only 274 mails are coming from GMAIL when using pop3 with java mail. but there are more than 3000 mails.

POP3 is the older email retrieval protocol (IMAP4 is the more current one) and only has very limited support for folders (or anything but a single inbox, really). It's quite common that POP3 only allows access to a subset of all emails stored by a provider. -

I want to read email from microsoft exchangeserver 2010 and save attachement into a folder.I created an Java program to import attachments from a exchange server mailbox using "POP3S".It works fine when run as a java application.But when i put this inside Oracle11g R2 using load java and while executing from a procedure it gives an error at parsing message into Multipart

I am New to Java Mail.
How to Receive email using POP3 SSL, (pop3 protocol).
I could able to receive email using Non-SSL.
I dont know the procedure for using SSL.
What things are necessary to do this?

How can i access gmail's smtp server using java mail api
i m using java mail api to access gmails pop and smtp service to receive and send mail from ur gmail account. I m able to access gmails pop server using the ssl and port 995 , but i can not use its smtp server to which i m connecting using ssl on 465 port. It requires authentication code.

I don't see that header in the list of headers you provided.
Can you save the entire message to a text file using
msg.writeTo(new FileOutputStream("msg.txt"));
Then look for the Content-Disposition header in msg.txt. Most likely you'll
find that it is incorrectly formatted - as the exception says, there's a comma
in a place that a semicolon is expected. -
Problem in retrieving email using java mail api
hi,
In my project,i am retrieving mails from a particular email id.
I am able to retrieve the latest mails and save it in a folder in my system.
The problem is whenever i run the program eventhough the most recently received mail in inbox is retrieved and saved,again it is retrieving the same one and saving it in the same folder(not repeating).
I tried to check the newmessages in the inbox using the folder.hasNewMessage() method in java mail api,but the method is returning false only regardless new mail is there in inbox or not.
I want to read the unread messages only.Dont want to retrieve the already read mails.
I got the mail retrieving code from the below site.(sorry not posting the code because it is so long and having 4 classes)

Oracle Java Mail API exception in Jdev 11.1.15
we are using java mail api to send out emails. and wrap it in java embedding with in our webservice.
we are using jdeveloper 11.1.1.5 for this and the Java API is failing with the below error, we have included all the java libraries. As code is working fine in Jdeveloper 11.1.2
we tried different version of jdeveloper ( 11.1.1.5, 11.1.1.7 ) but its still the same. Can some one please suggest

Using Java Mail with lotus notes
we are using lotus notes as default mail client and lotus notes server , there is no pop3 or smtp server as far as the intranet mailing goes,
i am developing an application in which i have a form which the users will fill in if they forget their logging in passwords, as soon as they submit the form they will get an autogenerated email which will send them their passwords. considering the above scenario can i use java mail api for thisNo. If you aren't running the pop3 or smtp services then the Java mail API won't help you at all, unless there is a SMTP server somewhere that you can use to deliver mail to your Notes server. If you use Notes for external emails there must be a server somewhere!!??
You can use the Notes Java API to create and send a document if you have the DIIOP service running on the Notes server.

plz tell us the function so that we can fetch mails from the specific mailbox to our mailclient in java mail apiOk so, i've tracked down the rfc pages for POP3 and SMTP. But these are general guidelines and specifications independent of a programming language. Do you know what java libraries and APIs I should be looking at ? You assume to much.
There are only two possibilities
1. Code already exists to do thi.
2. You are going to have to figure it out yourself.
If you want the first then I believe I already suggested that you could find already built servers.
If the second then a significant part of learning how to do it yourself is not only knowing what to use but also knowing what not to use. And you won't find the second if someone tells you.
I can tell you that you will need to implement the following
1. Storage. Storing the emails either in files or a database.
2. Running a server. How do you get a server to run all the time? How do you get it to run when the computer reboots?
3. How does it keep trying to send/receive when you are not there to push a button? How do you keep it from completely using up the CPU/IO on your box while it is still doing that.
4. How would you actually make your server available to others? How would it interact with other servers? (This is easy to understand and very hard to do.)
Yes, it exists and is called the JavaMail APIYep.
Your steps at this point.
1. Get that to work with your current email server. You should be able to send email to yourself.
2. Once it works then go back to determine what additional logging and error notifications you can get from it. For example what happens if you give it the wrong host name, what happens if you use the wrong protocol for a given port.
Once you have done that then you will have a tool that you can use to test your own email server and the experience to understand some of the problems. -

As far as i am aware there is no such thing as SMTP or IMAP services in Tomcat....SMTP and IMAP are protocols and it can be implemented by a separate servers..u can find lot of free email servers in the net..
And u can install them in ur environment and use them..
And about the Java Mail api it is java's client side implementation of SMTP,POP3 email protocols...u can use these api's to send and receive email programmatically...
