Java.math for CLDC ?

Hi all,
I'm currently developing a MIDlet using WTK2.2 but the simulator does not support java.math. I need to use the package in my program, is it possible to include the package in the WTK2.2 ? How ?
Or perhaps should i change to other simulators that support CDC? Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Use the search, there are several packages out there that will emulatie math function found in java.math.

    In the WTK documentation they give this link for third party emulators but is not mantained anymore.
    Do you know where to get some emulators compatible with WTK for CLCD?

  • Netbeans 6.5 doesn't detect Sun Java Wireless 2.5.2 for CLDC

    I have netbeans 6.5 installed on my system and the Sun Java (TM) Wireless Toolkit 2.5.2 for CLDC is located in the usual folder i.e C:\Program Files\NetBeans 6.5\mobility8\WTK2.5.2
    It was working fine for some time but since yesterday it has stopped working suddenly although nothing has been modified in the installation folders
    The WTK 2.5.2 is not accessible in netbeans IDE anymore. I have tried to add it from "Java Platform Manager" but netbeans does not seem to work
    The procedure I do is
    One in Netbeans IDE
    1. Open Java Platform Manager
    2. Add Java Platform
    3. Select "Java ME MIDP Platform Emulator"
    4. Click "Next"
    nothing happens... just stays at this screen
    I tried to uninstalled and reinstalled netbeans 4 times nothing seems to work.
    Can any one help me out.

    Found the solution.... The Configuration folders for NetBeans were not getting deleted by unInstaller.
    This is what you have to do to get it working
    1. Completely un install the NetBeans IDE. (to be on the safe side you can uninstall jdk as well)
    2. Delete all left over registry entries, if any.
    3. Go to your user profile folder. that is C:\Documents and Settings\myusername\
    4. There will be 4/5 folders for NetBeans.. delete all of them. (1 of them is called nbi)
    5. back up the contents of your workspace folder,. and delete it.
    6. Reinstall NetBeans 6.5 IDE.
    7. Now It will detect J2ME..
    So the conculsion is the Netbeans uninstaller should delete (or at least provide option) these configuration folders...

  • Is MIDP 2.0 and CLDC  inluded in Sun Java Wireless Toolkit 2.5 for CLDC?

    I downloaded the "Sun Java Wireless Toolkit 2.5 for CLDC" and "Sun Java Toolkit 1.0 for CDC" and I have JDK 6.
    do I need to download anything else or is this all I need to make applications for cdc and cldc devices??
    please help.
    thank you.

    Most devices used today support MIDP 2.0, but not all of them support CLDC 1.1. If you can do without floats, it's better to restrict yourself to CLDC 1.0 & MIDP 2.0. Devices which only support MIDP 1.0 aren't suitable for today's game development anyway (performance, resolution...) so personally I'd suggest not bothering with them if you don't have to.
    Here are some lists you can use to help you decide what to use, based on how many devices you want to target:
    http://www.j2mepolish.org/devices/platform.html
    These lists aren't complete, so please let me know if you find better ones.

  • @value tag dosen't work for java.math.BigInteger constants

    Is there anything I can do to get the Javadoc {@value} tag to document the value of BigInteger constants?
    I presume the issue applies to any object constants, but, BigInteger is all I need.
    Thanks for any advice.

    I apologize, I should have supplied more context....
    Here is my sample source
    package ...;
    import java.math.BigInteger;
    public class TestJavaDoc
    * TEST_STRING has value {@value}
    public static final String TEST_STRING = "IFQ Permit ";
    * TEST_BIG_INTEGER has value {@value}
    * Should also work like this {@value #TEST_BIG_INTEGER}
    * Constant ONE has a value {@value BigInteger#ONE}
    public static final BigInteger TEST_BIG_INTEGER = BigInteger.valueOf(1000);
    Here is the generated Javadoc, where you can see that @value works for a String, but fails for BigInteger....
    TEST_STRING
    public static final java.lang.String TEST_STRING
    TEST_STRING has value "IFQ Permit "
    TEST_BIG_INTEGER
    public static final java.math.BigInteger TEST_BIG_INTEGER

  • Cast to a literal (ex. "java.math.BigDecimal")

    I have an array with 2 columns like:
    "java.math.BigDecimal", "2"
    "java.lang.String", "Test 01"
    "java.math.BigDecimal","120"
    "java.math.BigDecimal","148"
    "java.lang.String", "Test 02"
    Is there way to cast the second string to the correct object type, using the first string.
    Something like this:
    ("java.math.BigDecimal")("2")
    ("java.lang.String")("Test 01")
    thanks in advance,
    intovoid

    You could do this by reflection for classes which
    have a contructor which takes an single string
    parameter - which I believe all these classes do.
    Lot's of messy expections to field. The sequence
    would be something like:
    private static Object create(String[] columns) throws
    Exception {
    Class clazz = Class.forName(columns[0]);  // get
    the class
    Contstructor cons = clazz.getConstructor(new
    Class[]{String.class}); // get constructor from
    String
    return cons.newInstance(new Object[]{columns[1]});
    // construct object
    code]Except, the problem remains that the OP can still not cast the Object returned by newInstance() by using the String in columns[0] (even though the Object is a BigDecimal). Even if it could be cast "dynamically", what would it be cast into - you can not dynamically declare the variable type.
    The above method could work if all the possible objects returned implemented a common interface. Or maybe instanceof could be used to hard-code the cast to the possible objects.
    In the end, I think this type of code can lead to a brittle design.

  • Package java.math does not exist!!!

    hi java experts, i really desperately need some help. ihave been trying to compile a java program i have written that imports the java.math package as i am using the BigInteger class. I am using SUN ONE STUDIO ME 4 and have j2se SDk installed. when i try to build the program in the IDE, it gives me an error message saying the java.math package does not exist. i can't understand why. i think it's an IDE problem. i tried mounting the filesystem and i mounted almost a million times in diff ways but it still can't compile. i can't find the directory of the java.math to mount into. anyway i tried to compile it at the command prompt and it can compile but with errors... so i figure that i do have the java.math class on my system just that the IDE jsut can't recognise it. i am at my wits end and gonna go mad if someone doesn't please help me.
    adeline from singapore

    java.math package will be there in jdk_dir\jre\lib\rt.jar. You need to set the classpath variable in your IDE for this jar file. There must be some means to edit the IDE's classpath variable.
    i mounted almost a million times in diff ways but it still can't compileIf it takes one minute for each mount then total time you have taken = 10000000 minutes = 166666 hours = 6944 days = 19 years (roughly). Java was not there 19 years ago.

  • Dynamic java applet for binary search tree

    dynamic java applet for deleting an element of a tree at any specified locationin the tree.

    sorry, having thought a bit more about it let me try to be more correct and concrete. say i have feature a at arbitrary chromosome position 7 and features b at positions 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 9, 10. right now i have to get the closest distance (Math.abs(7-6)) by doing brute force comparison of all values (Math.abs(7-1), Math.abs(7-2), so on). what i want to do is set up a binary tree thus (please forgive poor ASCII):
    5
    2 9
    1 3 6 10
    and get back the keys that the tree tried (since i know that 7 is not in the tree and a traditional binary search e.g. TreeMap.get(new Integer(7)) will return a null). i should get back 5, 9, 6, in an array/ArrayList and be able to find the closest feature b in three comparisons rather than 7. that doesn't seem like much but when you have a million b features the difference between 1000000 comparisons and log2(1000000) is pretty appreciable. so i am wondering if there is an extant class that will give me back the trace of attempted keys through a binary tree as described or, if not, if this would be horribly difficult to implement as an extension of TreeMap.

    I agree. In my opinion Sun has done a horrible job documenting all this madness for the average developer just starting out with this stuff. There is the CLDC, J2ME, Personal Java, J2ME-WTK, MIDP, MIDP-FCS ... maddness. Anyway after sorting through it all for a few days, I think the answer to your question you will need to use Personal Java for WinCE and the Sharp Zaurus, and MIDP for PalmOS for the palm. Jeode seems to be the most common and best Personal Java implementation and it is basically the JDK1.2.2 (or is it 1.1.8) that is designed to run on WinCE and Embeddix (such as Lineo on the Zaurus). You program it just like you would a 1.1.8 application and then you can test it by running pjava.exe which is included in the personal java 3.1 download from Sun. There is also a program called JavaCheck that will ensure that your app will run properly in PersonalJava. As for the Palm, MIDP for PalmOS is a 574K program that installs on your palm device. You then use the J2ME-WTK (wireless toolkit) to build a JAR/JAD file and you use the MIDP API to write the code.

  • NUMBER - java.math.BigDecimal

    Dear JDBC writer,
    When I have done a query in my Java program on a table in an Oracle database with a NUMBER or NUMBER(4) or NUMBER(4,2) column,
    and I use the generic method ResultSet.getObject(int column), the method always returns a java.math.BigDecimal instance.
    1. In case of NUMBER(4) I had suspected a java.lang.Integer instance. In case of NUMBER I had suspected a java.lang.Double instance. Why did you return a java.math.BigDecimal instance?
    2. Was it your intention to do further calculations with the BigDecimal instance or should I check the precision and scale of the column and get the int or double out of the BigDecimal instance?

    Thanks for the tip about getNUMBER, that may help with some of my other problems, but I'm trying to get data out of oracle spatial geometry types, and both integers and floats are stored in arrays of numbers. If you do a getarray on these or even process them as a result set, you get bigdecimals. How could I do the equivalent of getNUMBER for an array type? This is a huge performance problem for Oracle spatial and java.

  • Serialization Framework for CLDC

    During my work I've recognized that there is no framework that allows to serialize java classes for the CLDC (obviously because it lacks reflection). But still I found it worthwile to investigate (and develop) such a framework.
    The resulting software enables the application developer to store and load respectively java objects into a byte stream but also seamlessly into the RMS with just one method call. It is even possible to remotely store objects in a central (server sided) database, again with just one method call. Of course the framework is still buggy as it is an early prototype, but it works.
    My question is, would you guys be interested in such a framework? Would you appreciate the framework to be release as open source? It would take me some time (I don't have) so I thought it might be better asking first :-)

    Hi,
    Iam also trying to develop such a framework. I think J2ME polish 2.0 already has serialization framework but dont know if it serialize only fields or the whole class.
    http://www.j2mepolish.org/docs/serialization.html
    Please let me know if we can work on developing framework of our own.
    Prabhu.
