Java ME 3.0 SDK Profiler - Mac OS X

Hi,
I would like to know if it's possible to profile the memory usage of an MIDP application on Mac OS X.
The SDK 3.0 seems to generate only offline CPU profiling information, which isn't very interesting.
I'd like to attach a profiler to monitor the memory usage at runtime (heap size) as my application loads a number of images from file.
I've tried using VisualVM or the Netbeans profiler, but both seem to monitor the emulator application instead of the midlet.
A heap dump should be helpful too, but I have no idea how to get one.

Hi,
sure, it is possible. Look into 'bin' directory in your Java ME SDK 3.0 installation and you will find 'memory-profiler' there. For instructions how to use it see the documentation 'docs/UserGuide.pdf', page 144, Virtual Machine Memory Profiler chapter.

  • Java SDK for Mac OS?

I'm new to java and even newer to Mac OS. Just got a mac laptop and was wondering if Sun had an SDK for Mac OS. Didn't see it on the download list. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

Java runtime 1.3.1 comes bundled with the OS. JDK up to 1.4.1 and development tools are free downloads/updates from Apple (and I think the recent software update brings 1.4.1 to the masses). Go to apple.com and choose the "Developer" tab for juicy details. You'll need to register with the Apple Developer's Connection (free) to download the Developer Tools, which include SDK, and IDE, source examples, and other fun.

  • Installing SDK to Mac OS

    Hi,
I successfully installed the SDK to my Mac (Snow Leopard) and am
already using it for Collector development.
    Everything works perfectly.
Now, I am trying to do the configurations for Reports development. The
only missing point seems to be the configurations related to "Enabling
Previewing Reports That Query The Sentinel Log Manager Event Store".
When I try to test the connection with
    "java -cp
    $ESEC_HOME/ccsbase.jar:$ESEC_HOME/reports.jar:$ESEC_HOME/jasperreports-3.5.1.jar
    com.novell.reports.jasper.data.event.ConnectionChe ck"
I get "Unsupported Operating System" exception:
    Testing the connection...

Is there a workaround for this case.

  • CLDC 1.1, MIDP 2.0 and JSR-75,135 in Java(TM) ME platform SDK 3.0, EA?

    Hello.
I am trying to develope a "simple" MP3 playback application using "Java(TM) ME platform SDK 3.0, EA", but I have a problem.
I need to write the program for a device that has CLDC 1.1 and MIDP 2.0 configuration, with optional JSR-75 and JSR-135 packages.
When I start a new MIDP application project, I can choose the platform. Then I have 3 options:
DefaultCldcMsaPhone 1&2 --- CLDC-1.1 & MIDP-2.1 with MMAPI and File Connection (among others)
DefaultCldcPhone 1&2 --- CLDC-1.1 & MIDP-2.1 with MMAPI and File Connection (among others)
    DefaultCldcJtwiPhone 1&2 --- CLDC-1.1 & MIDP-2.0 with only MMAPI and Wireless Messaging.
The other options are greyed, so I can not select a combination that has CLDC-1.1, MIDP-2.0, MMAPI and File Connect at the same time... I have tryied switching to the full NetBeans and then I have more flexibility choosing the device configuration and profile, using "Sun Java(TM) Wireless Toolkit 2.5.2 for CLDC" emulator platform. But when I run my application in the emulator, it takes some seconds to start playing the MP3. When I change to SDK 3.0, it plays inmediately.
So my question is, can I create a custom device that has everyting I need with "Java(TM) ME platform SDK 3.0, EA"?
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi,
This problem is known and will be resolved in Final Release of SDK.
Now you can try to change configuration in <your_project_path>/project.properties file.
platform.bootclasspath and platform.profile parameters should be changed.

    Hi John,
I sort of remember Java 6  being IntelMac only...
Once you’ve gotten logged in, go to Downloads, select “Java” on the right hand side of the page, and download the Java SE 6 beta. Note: this is only available for Intel Macs running Tiger or Leopard — if you’ve got a G4 or G5, you’re out of luck right now

  • Using CLDC Sun Java(TM) Micro Edition SDK 3.0 EA with netbeans

    Hi ,
has anyone stumbled upon this - I just installed netbeans and Java(TM) Micro Edition SDK 3.0 and am trying to work with the examples of the sdk inside the netbeans , but when I open them I get the message : "Problem - the project uses platform CLDC Sun Java(TM) Micro Edition SDK 3.0 EA", but it was not found. Create platform named like this - I tried to do it , but it doesn't help.
Is there any way of overcoming this?

Ok , I found the solution.
I installed the Sun Java Wireless Toolkit for CLDC ver 2.5.2.2_01 directly (not as part of the SDK 3.0) , then added new platform and a new project configuration
    according to the new platform.
In case someone else stumbles on that....

  • How can I configure the Java ME Emulator (3.0) on Mac to launch a browser?

    Hi all.
I'm a non-developer user of the Java ME Emulator, where I need to test J2ME applications. I run the Java J2ME ME Emulator on my Mac, version 3.0.
I usually run the emulator as such:
    /Applications/Java_ME_SDK_3.0.app/Contents/Resources/bin/emulator -Xdescriptor:/path/to/jad
However, in our application I'm testing - whenever I click a URL/Link that normally opens a browser on a real device - it does nothing on the emulator. How can I get this to work? I've loaded up the 'Java_ME_SDK_3.0' App (/Applications/Java_ME_SDK_3.0.app) and found the settings there for this (Preferences -> General -> Web Browser) however, no matter what I put in there seems to work. (No browser even launches/opens)
    Can someone please help me?
    Thanks
    Ryan Hunt.

Hello TwoTankAmin, the Java deployment Toolkit is for developers and used by Java applications to help manage getting the right version of Java for a user’s system. Are you sure the problem is there ?
Do you have it '''Always Activate''', in Add-ons Manager tab and the Java TM platform SE 7 U67 also? [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-issues-with-plugins-fix-problems#w_determining-if-a-plugin-is-the-problem Determining if a plugin is the problem].
    thank you

  • Bad installation of Java Platform Micro Edition SDK 3.0 - Can't uninstall

    Hi,
I tried installing the Java Platform Micro Edition SDK 3.0 tonight and it didn't work (I guess the thing doesn't like it when you're running Win7 x64 with the latest JDK for some reason...). Anyways, it installed fine but on first run it got stuck at the nag screen with IOExceptions, etc. and never finished starting. So I decided to uninstall and guess what? I can't uninstall it because it tells me it can't run the uninstaller program since it can't load a win32 dll on a 64-bit machine...
So I resorted to deleting the folder and running a registry cleaner :/ However, so I can properly clean things up, I'd like to know where else the SDK put files or dlls and which ones.
    Thanks for your help!
    -LordPhoenix

I'm having exact the same problem, but I'm using Vista x64.
I tried to uninstall x64 version of the Java SE SDK and installed the x86 version instead, but it didn't help :/
So could please anyone post a solution to this.
EDIT: actually I at least managed to uninstall it using the SE SDK x86.
But still, is there any way to use Java ME SDK on Vista x64?

I click on Java ME SDK3.2 in the New Downloads menu. I read & accept the license agreement. I then go back to the overview menu option, click on download the system just take me back to accept license agreement page.

  • Dreamweaver and Java SE 6 Runtime problem on MAC Mountain Lion OSX

I have a problem with dreamweaver. I really love dreamweaver for building web pages and have used it for years with a PC.  I recently switched from a PC to a MAC but I find that when I open the Dreamweaver app for the first time I get a prompt that says something like "You must download Java SE 6 runtime, would you like to install it now?"   I click yes, and the download fails.  I called Apple about it, they said the software resides on Oracle's Java web site, and its out of their control.  I go to the Oracle Java web site it says "Apple supplies their version of Java SE 6 runtime and there's no way to download it from the Java.com site.  All this means is that YOUR software does not work on my MAC because these two companies can't agree on who suppies this software.
What I need to know is HOW DO I GET DREAMWEAVER TO WORK?  How do I get around this crazy *** catch 22 situation?  And why doesn't your software recognize Java SE 7 runtime?

I'm in the same boat with you. I recently used Time Machine to backup my profile and then wiped my entire drive and installed Mountain Lion. After importing all of my data with the Migration Assitant, Dreamweaver will NOT open.
SnakEyez02, Oracle's website does NOT have the dowload. The link you posted is to version 7. We've been down this road already. Martiantime is correct, neither Apple nor Oracle are providing Java SE 6, but Dreamweaver is crying to have it installed.
So, Adobe, how do we get out of the hole that we did not dig?
