Java not detected in redhat 5 linux firefox

I have installed the latest java 1.6_24 version using rpm on linux redhat machine. "java -version" works OK, I have the link:
libjavaplugin_oji.so -> /usr/java/jre1.6.0_24/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so
Also:
/usr/bin/java -> /etc/alternatives/java
/etc/alternatives/java -> /usr/java/jre1.6.0_24/bin/java
In the past install (java 1.4) there where also some references to "jvm" but these don't exist in 1.6 version.
Must be something else missing..

libjavaplugin_oji.so is the old classic Java plugin. For Firefox 3.6.x you need the Next Generation Java plugin (libnpjp2.so)

  • Java not detected even though installed?

I'm trying to access a web based VPN client. When I go to the necessary website I get 'Java not detected or installed. Cisco Secure Desktop requires Java to be present and configured on your desktop.' I definitely have Java, so how do I make it detectable?

The solution was actually very simple - I just needed to enable Java in the Safari Security Preferences!

  • Oracle not available on redhat linux 7.0

    Hello frineds ,
I successfully install oracle 9iAPS on RedHat Linux 7.0 , My purpose to run oracle 8.1.7
and it was done successfully , But getting a problem while creating database
    1. :- dbassist and copy database from cdrom but at the end approximately 80 % to 82%
it give me error oracle not available or end-of-file on communication channel
2:- SVRMGRL while connection as internal/oracle and tried to create database it give me error like
    ORACLE NOT AVAILABLE

    Hi
At windows You must create a service to hadle oracle threads. On linux this is not working in same way, You do not need a "service" to bind thread or process to it.
    simple set environment variables
and start sqlpus session with create database command, and so on.
Maybe You should read oracle admin guide for linux.

  • Java not working since upgrade to Firefox 7. My coupon printer states I do not have Java so it will not print. Java states it is incompatable with Firefox 7 = No win situation.

I print coupons through Smart Source and it worked fine a few months ago. The site states I do not have Java enabled. I go through the Firefox tab to ensure Java IS enabled. The add-ons it states that Java is no longer compatible with Firefox 7 and there are no updates to correct the situation. I have tried ALL the troubleshooting suggestions but NOTHING has worked. I've tried uninstalling/deleting all prior or duplicate versions of Java and reinstalling the latest version but NOTHING has worked.

Do you see the menu bar or anything else? As for the missing toolbar, this is the case for 90% of Firefox users, for instance the Google Toolbar. To restore it, you need to install Mozilla's Add-On Compatibility Reporter extension from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/15003 and restart Firefox twice.
As for the white screen, I am not sure what you mean, but your install looks corrupted, you probably need to uninstall Firefox and reinstall from scratch. You may spend too much time and effort otherwise. Back up your settings first if you have any, like Firefox bookmarks.

  • Airport Wireless not detecting network in Linux????

My iBook G4 has a fresh install of kubuntu 7.04 but it seems that my airport extreme card is not detecting ANY wireless networks even though I'm only 8 feet away from the router.
To answer any future questions: yes, I am 100% certain that the wireless works fine, since I am sending this to you on a wireless PC. Also, I have set up the wireless on my other PC's at home using ubuntu & kubuntu linux just fine by entering the WEP key and setting them to hexadecimal with no problems. However, this is obviously my first time setting up linux wireless on a mac Please let me know what I'm doing wrong. I know the ppc version of linux has to work for wireless somehow. Thanks!

I also have ever heard that ubuntu in iBookG4 can not detect the external audio port. Correct me if I am wrong.

  • What does "java not detected" mean and what should I do about it?

I am a teacher who teaches partly online. While trying to use Screen Recorder in Kaltura Media Space to record my desktop with audio voiceover, I encountered this message in red and was not able to use this device? I am not sure what the message means or how to fix this. I am using MacOS 10.9.1 and Safari. MediaSpace is provided by our school system, so I am not able to use my iPad to do this.

Do you have a Java Preference Pane in System Preferences? if not, Java isn't installed and from your description, it sounds like it may be required. You can also try running this Java Test.

  • Safari on Win7 -- Java not detected

I am trying to use Safari on a Win7 box to attend a WebEx meeting.
The WebEx Java client works on IE (so Java in installed on the machine).
However, when I try to launch the WebEx Java app from within Safari, I get an error of "WebEx Client Page tried to load Java content but Java is not available or installed"
I have 'Java enabled' checked in the Safari preferences.
I re-installed Java from Oracle and restarted the browser, but nothing changed.
Anyone know how to get Safari working on Win7 to support using Java apps?
    Thanks in advance,

  • R/3 Releases supported in a  VMWare REDHAT Linux virtualization environment

Hi, I hope I have chosen the right Forum here?
I am trying to find out information on whether 4.6B & 4.6C R/3 SAP Releases running the 4.6D Extended kernel with MaxDB is supported on virtualized REDHAT Linux environments using VMWARE. I have found a couple of notes i.e. 895807 and 1122387, but although they mention the virtualization technologies egg VMWare ESX, they do not explicitly mention REDHAT Linux nor which SAP versions plus database versions are supported???
    Can someone please help?
    Thanks
    S

    Dear Sharon,
last week, the SAP LinuxLab conducted several testings with Xen/VMware using both enterprise distributions from Novell and Red Hat. We are currently digging through the gathered data. The current time frame of publishing this data is first or second week in march.
Nevertheless, I can share some information with you beforehand.
The supported client operating systems are
XEN: Novell SLES10 SP1 (incl. a special Linux kernel) or SLES10 SP2 or from Red Hat RHEL 5.1 (incl. a special Linux kernel)
VMware: Novell SLES10 SP1 or Red Hat RHEL 5.1
The supported SAP kernel releases on VMware and Xen are currently 7.00. If you want to use older releases, please open a OSS message on component BC-OP-LNX and ask for an individual release.
    Thank you and Best Regards,
    Hannes Kuehnemund

I am trying to install 8i 8.1.7 on redhat linux 9. when I start the installer I get this error and nothing happens after it. I do have java installed on the pc. Whats the cause. I did the preinstall steps and am using the oracle account to start the installation. I got the install file from the oracle downloads site.

  • Firefox is not detecting Java plugin

A few weeks ago I installed updates and updated to Firefox 3.6.13 on OpenSuse 11.1 (yeah, I know, I should upgrade, but I'm lazy). No more Java functionality for me. So I installed a new version. I followed all of the instructions on this page (I've tried both from the RPM and the self-extracting file and get the same results either way): http://java.com/en/download/help/linux_install.xml but I got nothing. Next I tried this: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/manual-plugin-install-linux-136395.html The /firefox/plugins folder (which I should note I have installed in my home directory) shows the symbolic link. Still not registering in Firefox, at all. When I go to about:plugins, I'm not seeing anything about JRE.
At this point I'm at a loss. I'm ashamed to admit that as long as I've been using Linux, I still know very little about it as I only use the very basic functions on my machine (email, internet, office applications; no need for much other than that). But I've never run up against this problem before, and I'm not sure what I'm missing here about what I did wrong. I have this sneaking suspicion it's something simple, but...
    thanks!

Make sure that you create a symlink to the Java JP2 plugin (libnpjp2.so) that current Firefox version need.

  • Installing 9iAS Java Edition 9.0.3 on RedHat Linux 8.0, 7.2

    Hi,
Iam trying to install oracle 9iAS Java Edition 9.0.3 on RedHat Linux 8.0 and 7.2. But i have common problems during installation.
I get the following error while installing -
Error in invoking target install of makefile
    /home/oracle/servers/9ias/sqlplus/lib/ins_sqlpluslib.mk
Error in invoking target install of makefile
    /home/oracle/servers/9ias/network/lib/ins_oemagent.mk
Similarly i get one more error. I dont remember the actual file name.
Once i ignore all these errors then the OC4J instance configuration assistant and OPMN assistant do not start. They have some deployment problems during installation.
After the installation is complete with certain problems, i try to start all the services of DCM, using dcmctl start command
    /home/oracle/servers/9ias/dcm>dcmctl start.
The other services start except the HTTP server. I get the error ADMN-906025
Iam not able to start the Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM)
    also...
Kindly give me the exact steps to overcome this problem or a link to some documentation...please
    Its very urgent...

So, definitely a 32bit Linux kernel; installed 32bit Firefox15.0.1, Flash 11.2.202.238, and Java 1.7.0_07.  Created symbolic link from ../firefox/plugins/ to the actual libnpjp2.so file in Java-home, as seen above.
Firefox 15 starts, Addons shows the two plugins, but no movie shown on the Adobe Flash test page.
PLEASE - could someone help!  better yet, login my system and help me get this working, please!

I found through extensive Google searches that other users experience similar severe frustration and problems with the Flash-plugin 11.2.202.236.  Others recommended to find and use the 'supported' 10.3 version, which I did and it works!  So, I removed all traces of 11.2 and then disabled the Autoupdate in Firefox in order to keep the 10.3.

  • Are Java and Flash (or any plugin; as a matter of fact) supported on Linux Firefox 8? I don't see any lib or plugins directory in the install directory.

I don't see any plugin support on installing Linux Firefox 8 tar.bz2 package. I've tried symlinking libnpjp2.so and libflashplayer.so to the isntall directory but Firefox doesn't seem to recognize those. I don't find any mention of disabling plugin support (Java and Flash specifically) on Firefox 8 release notes. Is anybody else facing this issue?

Thanks. Creating a "plugins' directory inside the profile directory, and putting symlinks to plugin files inside the directory solved the problem
