    Your code is absolutely unreadable - even if someone was willing to
    help, it's simply impossible. I do give you a few tips, though: If you
    understand your code (i.e. if it really is YOUR code), you should be
    able to realize that your minimum and maximum never get set (thus they
    are both 0) and your exam 3 is set with the wrong value. SEE where
    those should get set and figure out why they're not. Chances are you
    are doing something to them that makes one 'if' fail or you just
    erroneously assign a wrong variable!

  • HTTP connection between two java programs(classes)

    Hello everyone,
    here's my question:
    I need to create two java applications(just two console apps) that can exchange data with each other only via the HTTP protocol. I guess I have to use the URLConnection class. How can I do that? Basically I need to make one app work as a server and the other one just as a simple client.
    thanks in advance

    URLConnection.
    As for the server, you could use a Servlet. There are Java libraries that act as a servlet container without requiring installation. Jetty comes to mind.

  • New Java Programming Student Needs Help

    Hey everyone,
    I've just started taking a Java programming class at Penn State University, and I have had some prior experience with programming, i.e. C, C++, HTML, SQL. However, this will be my first attempt at Java. I know there are a lot of similarities between C++ and Java, but I'm still a little lost on some methodology.
    To get myself going, I've been looking through the textbook a little and came across a problem that gave me some difficulty. I'll write out the outline:
    A company pays its employees as managers (who receive a fixed weekly salary), hourly workers (who receive a fixed hourly wage for up to the first 40 hours they work and time and a half (i.e. 1.5 times their hourly wage) for overtime hours worked, commission workers (who receive $250 plus 5.7% of their gross weekly sales), and pieceworkers (who receive a fixed amount of money per item for each of the items they produce each pieceworker in this company works on only one type of item).
    +Define a Java class named EmployeePayment that includes functionality to compute the weekly pay for each employee. You do not know the number of employees in advance. Each type of employee has its own pay code: Managers have paycode 1, hourly workers have paycode 2, commission workers have paycode 3 and pieceworkers have paycode 4.+
    +Define a main method that creates an instance of the EmployeePayment class, and calls the setManagerPay method to set the managers weekly salary to $625.00. The main method should then prompt the user for the paycode Enter paycode (-1 to end): , validate the input and perform the associated processing for that paycode. Your program should allow the user to process employees until a paycode of -1 has been entered. Use a switch structure to compute each employees pay, based on the employees paycode. Within the switch, prompt the user (i.e. the payroll clerk) to enter the appropriate facts your program needs to calculate each employees pay based on that employees paycode, invoke the respective method (defined below) to perform the calculations and return the weekly pay for each type of employee, and print the returned weekly pay for each employee.+
    +Define a setManagerPay method that accepts and stores the fixed weekly salary value for managers.+
    +A private instance variable weeklyManagerPay should be defined in the EmployeePayment class to support these accessor and mutator methods.+
    +Define a calcManagerPay method that has no parameters and returns the fixed weekly salary.+
    +Define a calcHourlyWorkerPay method that accepts the hourly salary and total hours worked as input parameters and returns the weekly pay based on the hourly worker pay code description.+
    +Define a calcCommWorkerPay method that accepts the gross weekly sales as an input parameter and returns the weekly pay based on the commission worker pay code description.+
    +Define a calcPieceWorkerPay method that accepts the number of pieces and wage per piece as input parameters and returns the weekly pay based on the piece worker pay code description.+
    +Once all workers have been processed, the total number of each type of employee processed should be printed. Define and manage the following private instance variables (*numManager*, numHourlyWorker, numCommWorker, and numPieceWorker) within the EmployeePayment class. What are the ways in which these variables can be updated?+
    Sorry for the length, but I wanted this to be thorough. Basically, I'm having the most trouble writing the switch statement, and outputting the total number of each type of employee...
    Any help and pointers will be greatly appreciated...thanks all.

    You said you've written C and C++ code before. I don't have an excellent memory but from the little code that I wrote in C, I believe the switch statement is exactly the same.
    Read this: [http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/java/nutsandbolts/switch.html]
    If you're having trouble understanding something post what your specific problem is. No one is going to write your homework for you, but many, myself included, would be more than willing to help if you're really stumped. Just post your concise problem.

  • Integrating native C++ class in a java program

    Hello,I have a class written in C++, such as this one, myclass.cpp and myclass.h:
    myclass.cpp:
    #include <iostream.h>
    #include "myclass.h"
    myclass::myclass( int x ) {
    cout << "Class created with " << x << " parameter" << endl;
    void myclass:message( char *message ) {
    cout << "Message: " << message << endl;
    and the myclass.h is:
    #ifndef MYCLASS
    #define MYCLASS
    class myclass {
    public:
    myclass( int );
    void message( char * );
    #endif
    I want to create a java program that calls this C++ class, in which I can write the "message" and the "x"...
    how can I do it?
    thanx

    I am afraid I do not know the coding conventions for other systems than Windows (well, not anymore).
    I can only tell you, though, how I do that in C++ for Windows.
    1. I write the function signatures in Java:
    public class JavaClass{
    public native type_fun name_fun(param_list);
    2. In the same class, I make a static contructor:
    static {
    System.loadLibrary("library_name");
    // !!! no extenstion! only the name of the dll (or shared library)
    3. I compile with javac.
    4. I generate a header:
    javah -jni JavaClass
    This makes a file JavaClass.h - if everything works well.
    5. I provide an implementation for the function(s) in this header, in a file JavaClass.cpp. In the cpp file, I include the header which declares your C++ class. In the implementation of the (exposed) function, I create an instance of that class.
    6. I compile the C++ part and make a dll out of it; I make sure that this dll is in a directory which is in the $path (%path%) environment variable.
    That's it.
    I think, though, that this process is described in one of the online tutorials.

  • Java Program in MDM to call a standard java class

    Hi All,
    In MDM- GDS, (Global Data Synchronization), we have a scenario where, once we register the Items , it will be transported to a Data Pool called 1SYNC through SAP PI.
    There is a standard Java PRoxy(Kind of java Class) in MDM, which will be triggered once we register the Item in MDM-GDS.
    That Java Proxy will send the Item INfo as a XML message to PI.
    So we would like to know whether its possible to automate this process.
    Like,Writing a new Java Program which will check all the new items and trigger the Java Proxy and send these items as XML Messages to PI.
    I m new to MDM. So it would be really helpful, If i could get some inputs on this. Like, is it possible in MDM. If so, how?

    Aarthi,
    you can acheive this from MDM itself, and need not to write any Java proxy.
    you may consider following logic.
    Create a field with the Name Status and Initilize it with Value "new". Now define syndicaiton Map to syndicate records which holds value "new" in the status field.  define a workflow with syndication step, using maps defined earlier. After syndication step, execute an assignment to change Status field value from "New" to "Syndicated".
    Revert back if any question.

  • How to call a java program in javafx class(Urgent) and even vice versa

    Hi all,
    Here I have two questions:
    1)
    Please let me know how to call a javafx in java program...
    I tried with the following code but it is not working..
    The below is the java program in which I made a call to the Fx program.
    FxMainLauncher.java
    import net.java.javafx.FXShell;
    public class FxMainLauncher {
    public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception {
    FXShell.main(new String[] {"HelloWorld.fx"});
    2) How to call a java program in javafx class
    Here is my javafx program
    import check.*;
    import javafx.ui.*
    var instance = new MyJava();
    //visible:true
    System.out.println("Number is: {instance}");
    Here is my java program
    public class MyJava {
    public static void main(String args[])
    System.out.println("JAVAFX TO JAVA");
    Even this is not working please let me know ASAP
    Thanks in advance,
    V.Srilakshmi

    GOT IT !!!
    I had to change the name of the method in .h file generated by javah command. On doing
    javac -d ../../classes HelloWorld.java
    go to the ../../classes directory (where you have the class file) and do
    javah HelloWorld
    I got a HelloWorld.h file in which I had
    JNIEXPORT void JNICALL Java_HelloWorld_display(JNIEnv *, jobject);
    I added the package name too:
    JNIEXPORT void JNICALL Java_GUI_HelloWorld_display(JNIEnv *, jobject);
    The HelloWorldImp.c file should have the same name (ie with package) and be in the same directory(ie ../../classes)
    compile and build the shared library to get "libhello.so" file
    gcc -c -fPIC -I/usr/lib/j2sdk1.3/include -I/usr/lib/j2sdk1.3/include/linux HelloWorldImp.c
    gives .o file
    gcc -shared -o libhello.so HelloWorldImp.o
    gives .so file
    then run java with the command in my first message. It works.
    Thanks for the reply "thedracle".

  • My java program runs fine even if i don't specify access specifier of class

    Hi,
    My java program runs fine even if i don't specify access specifier of class as public .
    Then why do they say that atleast one class should be specified as public.
    please help.

    public access specifier is the default access
    specifier
    so if you dont give the access specifier before the
    class name it is not wrong.I think that you are wrong. The default specifier is package or "package-private".

  • JSP Unable to Load Class (posted in Java Programming for 5 Dukes)

    I hope this isn't a violation of forum etiquette, but I posted my question in Java Programming at http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=31&thread=203255
    I realize now that it may have been wiser to post it here, but I have some replies already and it makes more sense just to inlcude the link.
    Can anyone assist with the question at http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=31&thread=203255
    It's worth 5 dukes.

    Try changing <tagclass>E:\Tomcat324\jakarta-tomcat-3.2.4\webapps\examples\WEB-INF\classes\tags.ExampleTag</tagclass> to <tagclass>tags.ExampleTag</tagclass>
    because <tagclass> tag is for the class name and not the location of class file
    And make sure your ExampleTag.class file is in
    \WEB-INF\classes\tag\ExampleTag.class

  • Difference between a java program and a java class

    Hi there,
    What is the difference between a java program and a java class?

    HI,
    A java class is an object - described in a .class file - which has been given properties and behaviours and which can be instantiated in a program.
    A java program( application ) consists of at least one class (one of which must be declared public) and which executes its main() method ( of the public class ) when it is started.
    Every program is a class but not every class is a program.
    Examples:
    A java program
    // this simple program will print out the first command line argument you put
    // in after calling : java ScreenWriter "arguments"
    class ScreenWriter
    public static void main( String [] args )
    if( args.length > 0 )
    System.out.println( args[0] );
    A java class
    //the Math class is already defined in the java.lang package
    //and contains a constant for PI
    //So I can include the Math class with the PI constant in my simple program
    //and now I have a program that involves my ScreenWriter class and the Math class too.
    class ScreenWriter
    public static void main( String [] args )
    if( args.length > 0 )
    System.out.println( args[0] );
    System.out.println( "The value of Pi is: " + Math.PI );
    When you see package and import declarations at the start of a program they are there to ensure the compiler knows which classes are used in the program.
    Hope that helps,
    Terry

  • Running a java program at "Start Up"

    Besides running an html file with an applet in it. Are there any simple ways to launch a java program every time the computer is turned on.
    I am not asking for specific directions, but rather just an idea, and i will go find my own guide.

    Well two ideas (if ur on windows) u could try are -
    one, if you had a class file you could simply create a
    batch file on windows that says java <class> and then
    put that batch file in your startup so that the class
    is run at startup or else you could think of modifying
    the registry keys on windows to run this class at
    startup - whichever works for you.Or you could just jar the program up, adding a Main-Class indicator in the manifest, and then add a shortcut to the jar to the startup folder, as someone else stated. Theres little need to go messing around with DOS batch in modern windows.
