Java script assistance

HI to all experts,
i need help in devloping a command in wad using java script.
the command i want to create will provide me the option to send a certain wad URL (link) thru a message using outlook . the command needs to genrate the url from bi portal .
Thanks
Alex

Current page URL
document.location.href
Sending an email
Here is some javascript that will dynamically generate a hyperlink for the user to click on. The body of the email will contain the page of the URL
var sHREF = "mailto:[email protected]?subject=Dynamic URL&body=";
sHREF = sHREF + document.location.href
sHREF = "<a href='" + sHREF + "'>";
sHREF =sHREF + "Send Email</a>";
document.write(sHREF)
(Sorry, this crappy online editor doesn't allow me to post nice code samples, so I have had to butcher it to get it to display here)
This, however, won't send it automatically. If you want to do that, then you'll need to do something like creating a hidden form on your page, populating an input value in the form with the page URL and then submitting the form. You can set as the action of the form a mailto recipient.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Andrew

  • Acrobat 9 - how do you create a dynamic stamp to include the current date (java script)

    I have seen my question multiple places and times but the resolutions provided have not worked for me.
    I am running Acrobat 9 Pro, cannot run X or XI due to the use of ProSystem fx Engagement.
    I want to create what I thought would be a simple stamp. My initials and the current date. i.e. "crm 01/10/13".
    Simple right? I created a PDF of my initials. Now I just need the text field with the proper Java Script to insert the date, correct?
    I have tried opening "Dynamic.pdf" and copying and pasting the text field that includes the Java Script:
    " event.value = (new Date()).toString(); AFDate_FormatEx("h:MM tt, mmm dd, yyyy"); "
    The date does not update, it stays static.
    I have manually entered the Java Script.
    I have edited the Java Script to remove the "Ex".
    I have edited the Java Script to revise the "yyyy" to "yy".
    I have edited the Java Script to remove the " h:MM tt, " trying different formats to get "dd/mm/yy".
    I have selected "Use single-key accelerators to access tools" in Preferences/General.
    I have tried PDF files, PNG files. I have created the image files from Word and Excel.
    I am at my wits' end. Can someone PLEASE assist me to resolve what should be a simple issue (I hope).
    Thank you in advance.

    Thank you for your response.
    Your script works well, but I still have the same issue.  The date is remaining static to the system date when the stamp is created.  My initial idea was to create a pdf of my initials "crm" and then add the text field with the java script for the date behind my initials.  "crm" + (TEXT FIELD with JS).  I wanted 3 stamps, red, blue and green.  The colors correspond to specific processes in our workflow.
    Your script adds my initials as well as the date.
    My machine is running Windows 7.
    My stamps are located:
    C://Documents/Acrobat Stamps/...
    Acrobat templates:
    C://Program Files (x86)/Adobe/Acrobat 9.0/Acrobat/plug_ins/Annotations/Stamps/ENU/...
    I have no problem creating stamps, just a stamp that will use the current system date.  I HATE using the typewriter for my initials and the date.  I guess I can stamp my initials and then type the date...but what is the point?
    Do you have any further thoughts or suggestions?
    Thank you very much.
    crm 01/11/13

  • Can I balloon engineering prints in Adobe Reader or Acrobat? Create a dynamic stamp w/ Java Script?

    I am trying to establish a very simple way to balloon prints with character numbers; below I have uploaded an example screen shot.  My end goal is for the user to select a dynamic stamp (a circle with a number in the center) and it start numbering with 1 and then increment by 1 yet the user is placing each balloon in its respective location, resetting for each PDF document, one addition would be to allow the balloon numbers to be edited like a text box after they have been created in case there is an error in balloon placement etc.  Is this possible? I have programming experience in other languages, but have only built a few dynamic stamps with time stamp information provided by java script code.
    Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

    Yes it's possible with dynamic stamps, but the code is rather messy as it has to keep a running total.
    See http://www.pdfscripting.com/public/department53.cfm for some samples (and the definitive book on creating your own dynamic stamps), and Rick Borstein's blog for some basic samples that put exhibit numbers on legal documents.

  • Drag and Drop Image to PDF with Java Script

    Hi,
    I have to create some PDF reports and contained within these reports there are numerous images, some as many as 30-40. This is really time consuming. Can anyone please advise if there is some java script available so I may Drag & Drop an image onto a button or directly onto the PDF report.
    I have attached an example video of the current process and as you will see the process is very long to say the least. Any assistance would be appreciated.
    Kind Regards
    Terry Lewis

    Hi Gilad,
    Apologies for that I edited the wrong video in my Youtube account.
    You mentioned that its not possible with JS.
    Are you aware of any other options?
    Kind regards
    Terry
    P.S. I have amended the video situation.

  • Enabling Java Script

    I'm running Opera as my browser and have been messaged that Java Script is not enabled. This results in blank pages or "looping" in many web sites. I have checked my preferences in Opera, and Java Script is (supposedly) enabled. I uploaded Java 4.1 just weeks ago, but somehow Java Script is still not enabled.
    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as I am only slightly computer literate.
    Jeff

    Despite the similarity in names, Java and Javascript are not at all related; Java does not enable/disable Javascript, that is totally a function of your browser settings/controls.
    While someone here may have sufficient knowledge of Opera and Javascript, your best bet is to go to the Opera support group for their assistance.

    I am having trouble with Anchor.htm.

    I recently downloaded both the 32- and 64-bit Java Script applications when I received a message that the existing version of Java Script was out-of-date. Anchor.htm worked before I installed the update.

    From Dreamweaver FAQ
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/429114
    "If Dreamweaver is acting erratically, or if you see a message saying "the following JavaScript error(s) occurred",  it's usually a sign of a corrupt cache file. The first thing to try should always be to delete the file cache. If that doesn't work, delete your personal Configuration folder. Full instructions are in Deleting a corrupted cache file.

    Hi Kranthi,
    You have option to read a cell content as html. else you will have to go for SDK. I think you will get better suggestions, if you can explain your requirement in a little detailed manner.

    Well, I've been trying to make a conversion file by using if statement of Java script with < , > definitions. unfortunately i got "Evolution error" over and over again.
    Actually i want to convert all dates before 2009 as 2008.12. And the dates which is greater than 2009 will be converted as they are (e.g. 2009.01 or 2010.02 etc.).

    Details

    You are on Windows 2000, you do not have a "Firefox" button, and should consider yourself to be fortunate in that you still have menus and don't have to do anything to get the menus back instead of the "Firefox" button. (The same applies to Windows XP users).
    Use the "File" menu to get to Import. You are not on Windows 7 or Vista, and don't have to put up with the nonsense added for Aero.
    If you want the "Firefox" button you can get it with View -> toolbars -> (uncheck) Menu Bar. The menu bar and the "Firefox" button were supposed to be mutually exclusive (which is impossible in some cases without being incompatible).
    Once you are using the "Firefox" button ...
    Use the "Alt" key to view the menu bar (temporarily) containing File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, and Help. On Windows 7 and Vista, the menu bar was hidden by default in Firefox 4 and above. These menu items are more or less available under the "Firefox" button which has the most used of the built-in Firefox menu items available in a different format.
    To get back to having menus again. "Firefox" button -> Options (second column) -> (check) Menu Bar
    You can make '''Firefox 7.0.1''' look like Firefox 3.6.*, see numbered '''items 1-10''' in the following topic [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox-problems.htm#fx4interface Fix Firefox 4.0 toolbar user interface, problems (Make Firefox 4.0 thru 8.0, look like 3.6)]. • Dreamweaver 8: Java script in Design Mode

    Mac OS 10.4.11 Dreamweaver 8
    I have a web page with a java script that displays a random picture from a list of images each time you reload the page.
    http://www.irises.org
    It renders fine when viewed in a browser, but the image does not display when viewed in Dreamweaver Design mode. The random image does not display and lacking the image other things are out of place.
    The script that sets up the image array:
    <!-- Begin
    // Set up the image files to be used.
    var theImages = new Array() // do not change this
    // To add more image files, continue with the
    // pattern below, adding to the array.
    theImages[0] = 'images/home-rotate-1.jpg'
    theImages[1] = 'images/home-rotate-2.jpg'
    theImages[2] = 'images/home-rotate-3.jpg'
    theImages[3] = 'images/home-rotate-4.jpg'
    theImages[4] = 'images/home-rotate-5.jpg'
    theImages[5] = 'images/home-rotate-6.jpg'
    theImages[6] = 'images/home-rotate-7.jpg'
    theImages[7] = 'images/home-rotate-8.jpg'
    theImages[8] = 'images/home-rotate-9.jpg'
    theImages[9] = 'images/home-rotate-10.jpg'
    theImages[10] = 'images/home-rotate-11.jpg'
    theImages[11] = 'images/home-rotate-12.jpg'
    theImages[12] = 'images/home-rotate-13.jpg'
    theImages[13] = 'images/home-rotate-14.jpg'
    theImages[14] = 'images/home-rotate-15.jpg'
    theImages[15] = 'images/home-rotate-16.jpg'
    theImages[16] = 'images/home-rotate-17.jpg'
    // do not edit anything below this line
    var j = 0
    var p = theImages.length;
    var preBuffer = new Array()
    for (i = 0; i < p; i++){
       preBuffer[i] = new Image()
       preBuffer[i].src = theImages[i]
    var whichImage = Math.round(Math.random()*(p-1));
    function showImage(){
    document.write('<img src="'+theImages[whichImage]+'">');
    //  End -->
    The code (further down the page after the all the list elements) that generates the image:
               <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
    <!-- This script and many more are available free online at -->
    <!-- The JavaScript Source!! http://javascript.internet.com -->
    <!-- Begin
    showImage();
    //  End -->
    </script>
    Is there a way to get it to display correctly in the Design mode?
    Thanks
    <br />
    </script>

    Is there a way to get it to display correctly in the Design mode?
    I don't think so, at least not with this script.  What you need is for an image to be displayed on the page by default, and for the javascript to only change the src attribute's value.  Something like this -
    At the point where you want the image have -
    <img src="the_path_to_some_default_image.jpg" id="rotation" />
    and in the javascript, change this -
    document.write('<img src="'+theImages[whichImage]+'">');
    to this -
    document.getElementById('rotation').src='theImages[whichImage]';
    See if that works....
