Certification Forum ModeratorHmmm.... I would say the following:
1) I agree from the Oracle Oracle Practice Tests, Kaplan SelfTest are purchasable via Oracle and via Kaplan. Fascinately I can buy from Oracle in GBP (possibly slightly more than from Selftest which is in dollars) ... but Oracle will certainly apply the tax called VAT for me ( I suspect Kaplan Selftest might not .. which would be cheaper for some). At this moment going through the purchase route on Kaplan selftest yielded an invalid security certificate .... which given the number of braindumping clone sites arround is not comforting! I'd have had to have used a login to go farther so I gave up ....
( And I finally noticed at the bottom of the page it says: Transcender Practice Tests are still available, linked directly from the exam pages. ... however it does not warn Transcender Tests are a superset of Selftest .... leading some candidates into the upsetting risk of buying both).
2) On 1z0-851 there is no link to the Transcender test .....
(http://www.transcender.com/practice-exam/oracle/1z0-851.kap)
From the 'Exam preparation Tab to 1z0-851': ... Observe no Transcender reference below:

Summary:
* Links to Practice Tests from some exam pages seem missing
* Lack of Difference between Kaplan Transcender and Kaplan Selftest not stressed everywhere either/both are mentioned ( It is in the help center ... I know to look there ... I am not sure a 1z0-051 candidate might).
* Really important to ensure links to authorized suppliers are good because of so manner braindump providers out there using similar names.
* Incorrect certificate on Selftest for long needs addressing.
* Possible payment differences for inviduals going via Oracle and direcy.

  • Interfacing JADE/Java with PowerWorld Simulator 9.0

    Dear all,
    I am currently working on a multi agent project using the JADE
    framework. However, I need to interface my agent platform with
    PowerWorld Simulator 9.0. I would be greateful if anyone could give me
    advice on how to interface java with PowerWorld Simulator. To the best of my knowledge, PowerWorld Simulator has a feature that acts as a COM object, which can be assessed from various programming tools with COM compatibility. Is there anyway to bridge this with Java? Thank you so much in advance.
    Regards,

    This occurs when I try to run a data file through a case study program that I need for my examinations. I'm using RealJ 3.51, with SDK 1.4.2_09 The case study launches fine, and when I open the .dat file, I can see the fish which should begin to move, but that is when I get that error.

    Trying to guess... Does that class have a package or something?

  • Java Developer Exam.

    I'm thinking of taking the Java Developer exam.
    People who have done the Java Developer exam, could you please contribute with your help by answering these questions ?
    1. How long did you program in Java before taking the exam on ?
    2. How long did it take for you to complete the programming task ?
    3. Was it more difficult than the Java Programmer exam ?
    4. Is it worth to take it ?
    5. What was the hardest part of the exam ?
    Other comments on the Java Developer exam are welcomed as well.
    Cheers
    /Andreas

    Here is what I would recommend, based on my experience:
    * Take the mock exams - the tests at javacertificate.com do a good job of helping you identify your strengths and weaknesses. Dan Chisholm's mock exams are tough, but also good for opening your eyes to some things you might not have thought about.
    * Concentrate on your weaknesses (mine were assertions, garbage collections, and threads).
    * Practice your butt off writing code. Practice, practice, practice. And DON'T use an IDE. Code with a simple text editor and compile from the command line. The test is going to tax your ability to "compile" in your head and you don't want an IDE doing that work for you.
    * Familiarize yourself with the Exam objectives. Know those inside and out, and you'll have no trouble with the test. Don't waste time on non-covered topics (e.g. java.io, java.awt).
    * Figure out why you want this certification. It's not going to win you any admirers among the gurus. It's probably not going to get you a job. It doesn't mean you can code your way out of a wet paper bag. It's just the start of your journey in Java.
    For me, it was something I wanted to prove to myself - a self-taught, entry-level programmer at the time - I could get. It helped me tremendously in my understanding of basic Java, so I don't regret obtaining the cert one bit. I also realize I have a LONG way to go. So, good luck, study hard, practice, practice, practice, and let us know how you do! If I can be of any help, let me know. :o)

  • Help in java traffic simulation

    traffic simulation is my project, but i don't know any thing the mathematical
    model i have to use..gratful if any recommend spicific model.
    also i need any refrence to any tutorials or books related to using java in traffic simulation.

    Hi Aisha_fahd
    First thing dont worry about Mathematics, not needed for this.This requires a fair amount of work, here's a start:
    Identifiy basic objects needed i.e:
    Class Car
    (feilds)
    carNumber
    arrivalTime
    waitingTime
    transactionTime
    basic constructor, set and get methods for above.
    Class Queue
    (Implement your own or see Java Collections)
    Class WaitingQueue
    (Sub class for Queue)
    needed to update the Class Queue when a car has been
    served.
    Class TrafficController
    (A server)
    Feilds
    currentCar
    status
    transactionTime
    Heres an idea of the type of methods needed.
    Methods()
    +isFree() :bool
    +setBusy() :void
    +setFree() :void
    +setTransactionTime():void
    +getRemainingTransTime(): int
    +decreaseTransTime(): void
    +setCurrentCar(Car):void
    +getCurrentCarNum():int
    +getCurrentCarArrivalTime():int
    +getCurrentCarWaitingTime():int
    +getCurrentCarTransactionTime():int
    Hope this helps you is some way.

  • Java Programming Exam v1.4

    Could anyone please e-mail me at [email protected] with information and tutorials with regards to the Sun Certified Java Programmer exam for Java 1.4. I know it sounds stupid, but i've only been learning and programming with java for approx. 2 months and some of the subjects covered in the exam i haven't looked at due to a lack of resouces.
    Thank you to anyone who replies and any help is greatly appreciated.

    Could anyone please e-mail me at [email protected]..
    First, don't ask people to reply by private email. Most Forum regulars believe solving problems should be a public, transparent process during which a first try at an answer can and should be corrected if someone more knowledgeable notices that it is incomplete or incorrect. Also, they get some of their reward for being respondents from being seen to be competent and knowledgeable by their peers (not to mention the possibility of collecting some of those precious Duke Dollars).

  • JVMDI & Suspend/ResumeThread for Java simulation.

    I am currently trying to add a Java Interface to a simulation software package written in C++. The JNI interface works fine. The issue is we are attempting to simulate a device that runs Java code. Therefore, when the simulation pauses, the Java code must also pause.
    The simulation is a discrete simulation, so it runs in timesteps. I am attempting to force a certain number of lines of Java code to execute for each timestep. Currently, five Java steps per simulation step. The process works as follows.
    Resume a suspended thread. Allow five single step events and suspend thread on the fifth.
    The reason for this method is we would like to plug Java code directly into the simulation without modifiying it. For the most part, the simulation works, but it is prone to freezing.
    The JNI and JVMDI interface is created from the native side. The code gets frozen sometimes when C++ resumes a thread and then Java doesn't throw any Single-Step events. The GetThreadStatus function claims the thread is running and not suspended. It often reaches up to 5000 cycles without error. The C++ side will just forever wait for the single-step events that never come.
    I'm assuming this problem has to do with why suspend and resume where depricated from the Java language, but then why are they still availible to JVMDI? However, the explanation on why the functions were depricated doesn't seem to explain the error because it says the thread.resume() is never reached, but in my case it is called and doesn't return errors.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    You're right about the even being generated from the thread. I tired that. It didn't work. I have my main C++ "thread", which uses JNI to spin off a Java thread. Then when the event is called, the JVM kinda steals control away from my application. I can't return control until I exit the hook function, allowing the thread to continue execution or Suspend the thread. Executing the Suspend command actually prevents any more execution within the hook function until the Resume command is called from my application.
    Unless you have an idea of how I can return control out to the C++, I'm a bit lost. The only way to do something like that, is something like a goto command which would certainly doubt would work.
    Thanks for the advice.

  • SAP got sample exam for Developer Exam?

    Want to get the feel of it, before writing the real exam.
    How is the question pattern?.
    How many types of questions?.
    Can anybody please give me some head on?.
    I know it is 80 questions 3 hrs....please don't post exam official link. Read it 1000 times.
    Praveen's exam blog also read.
    But never got idea, how exam look like?.
    Do we have a simulated exam somewhere?.
    Just want to know the pattern of exam.....Please post all help.
    Points will be rewarded lavish.

    Hi Ash,
        Totally there will be 4 sections each section will be considered for scoring..
      --> Few question on SLD-maximum 4 questions
    > Few questions on IR and ID.
    > Few questions on Mapping
    > Few question on Adapter Engine-you wil get 20 in this part
    >Few question on BPM--Maximum of 20 in BPM.
       As i heard that tricky questions from Adapterengine rather than BPM.
    <b>Note</b>:please prepare what are the jar files we have to use for java mapping and what are all the jar files are available.
    Hope I am clear..!
    Please let me know if you have any queries..

  • BW Certification exam

    Hi guys,
    I am looking for some help in getting started with preparation for the SAP BW certification.
    I would really appreciate if someone could help me in finding braindumbs or simulation exams or something with which I can atleast plan for getting into the exams.
    Thank you in advance

    Hi ,
    Pls go through SAP BW Certification by Catherine M. Roze
    ISBN # 0471236349. it would surely give u the feel of the questions. Try to get the material from SAP LABS, that would be really helpful.
    Take a look in the SAP Service Marketplace to check

  • Web Services Exam

    Hi,
    I'm considering taking the Sun Certified Developer for Java Web Services (SCDJWS) exam but before I did I wanted to know how recent the current exam is and whether SUN have any plans to update the exam in the near future?
    It's just that I keep hearing that java web services have changed, or are going to change ... it could just be a load of rubbish so thought I'd post it out there.
    Regards,
    A.

    JSP, no.
    Servlets will certainly help but isn't required (Web service endpoints are deployed as servlets, and handlers work similarly to servlet filters, but that's about it).

  • Problem while spawning scp (secure copy) in Java

    Hi,
    We are calling shell script to spawn scp (secure copy) in Java. JVM version is 1.4.2. While trying to invoke this shell script on JVM 1.4.2 in UNIX environment, it doesnot give desired result. Either it gives the error as :
    1)
    "The authenticity of host 'sxfer01.bluecrossmn.com (159.136.224.30)' can't be established.
    RSA key fingerprint is 8d:84:82:c2:bb:15:94:e1:30:e1:11:0e:3f:8b:83:24.
    Are you sure you want to continue connecting (yes/no)?"
    After saying "yes", it hangs.
    OR
    2) It doesnot display the value for output variables. Value will be blank and it goes back to system prompt. It doesnot hang.
    So How to treat scp utility in JVM 1.4.2? Any change / configuration to be done ?
    Thanks,
    Asawari

    As a guess....
    1. You first need to understand how to run the command successfully from a command prompt.
    2. Again from the command prompt you then need to understand what sort of errors the command can generate and what action you need to take based on those errors.
    3. You need to create (ONLY after 1 and 2 are complete) a command line simulator which MUST use threads in java. Your simulator knows how to correctly accept all possible responses from the command and how to respond to them. (And you better understand how java shells out commands and handles streams for them as well.)

  • SCJP 5.0 exam

    Hi,
    I have some experience with java and am planning of taking the SCJP 5.0 exam. From experience what would be a reasonable preparation time frame for such an exam?
    thanks

    Well, you could read this book:
    SCJP Sun Certified Programmer for Java 5 Study Guide (Exam 310-055) by Katherine Sierra and Bert Bates
    Some of the toughest topics in the real exam are generics and concurrency , pay close attention to the new features introduced in Java 5
