Java Server/Client Applicaton - problem with sending data back

Hello!
I'm trying to write a small server/client chat application in Java. It's server with availability to accept connections from many clients and it's app just for fun... However, I've come up against a huge problem: everything what clients send, arrives to server (I'm sure about that because it is displayed on the Server Application screen) and then server should send it back to all clients but it doesn't work. I have no faintest idea what causes this problem. Maybe you can help me?
Here is my server app code:
import java.net.*;
import java.util.*;
import java.io.*;

public class Server {
    ServerSocket serw = null;
    Socket socket = null;
    String line = null;
    Vector<ClientThread> Watki = new Vector();
    ClientThread watek = null;
    public Server(int port) {
        try {
            serw = new ServerSocket(port);
            line = "";
            while(true) {
                System.out.println("Running. Waiting for client to connect...");
                socket = serw.accept();
                System.out.println("Connected with:\n" + socket.getInetAddress() + "\n");
                watek = new ClientThread(socket);
                Watki.addElement(watek);
                Watki.firstElement().Send("doszlo?");
        }catch (IOException e) {
            System.out.println("BLAD: " + e);
    public void sendToAll(String s) {
        for(int i = 0; i < Watki.size(); i++) {
            Watki.elementAt(i).Send(s);
    public class ClientThread extends Thread {
        Socket socket;
        DataInputStream in = null;
        DataOutputStream out = null;
        String line = null;
        public ClientThread(Socket s) {
            try {
                this.socket = s;
                in = new DataInputStream(s.getInputStream());
                out = new DataOutputStream(s.getOutputStream());
                start();
            }catch (IOException e) {
                System.out.println("BLAD: " + e);
        public void Send(String s) {
            try {
                out.writeUTF(s);
            }catch (IOException e) {
                System.out.println("BLAD: " + e);

                System.out.println("BLAD: " + e);
    public static void main(String[] args) {
        Server serwer = new Server(5000);
}And here is client app code:

            System.out.println("BLAD: " + e);
    public static void main(String[] args) {
        Client client = new Client("localhost", 5000);
}By the way, this app is mainly written in English language (text that appears on the screen) however in functions I used Polish language (for example: BLAD - it means ERROR in English). Sorry for that :)

Yeap, I will change those exceptions later, thanks for advice.
You asked what's going on with it: both applications start with no errors, but when I write something in client side it should be sent to the server and then forwarded to all connected clients but it stops somewhere. However, I added a one line to the server code
line = in.readUTF();
System.out.println(line);
sendToAll(line); and after it reads message from client (no matter which one) it shows that message on the server side screen, then it should send this message to all clients but it doesn't work in this moment. What's confusing: no errors occurs, so it's rather a mistake in my code, but where?

    I'm using Oracle 9i. when I have more data in my database its acting weird. There is SELECT only from one table, but sometimes I have data from other tables aswell.
    I didnt touch any config files or something else. Only created new User and DAD.
    any ideas what should I do to fix that ??
    thnx in advice

    Hello,
    My guess is that you are speaking about PLSQL Server Pages (PSP), and the PLSQL Web Toolkit.
    This is why I do not think that you will have lot of answer since this forum is targeted toward Web Services developer (XML, SOAP, and so on)
    I am inviting you to ask your question on the general Oracle Application Server - General or PLSQL forums.

  • Problems with sending data to serial

    Hi!
    This may be a stupid question.
    But i try to ask it, however...
    I'm trying to communicate with a motor throu rs-232.
    The manual says that the commands should have the following form: (an example)
     SXWT <0H><0H><0H><32H> <88H><cr>
    Where <0H><0H><0H><32H> is the data in a four byte long integer. <88H> is a checksum, that is easy to calculate.
    My problem is how do I send the hex. data in a string(combined with the ascii-string in the beginning)?

    Also have in mind how the motor want to receive the integer. Labview uses Big Endian. If the motor want the integer in Little Endian you must use byte swapping
    Besides which, my opinion is that Express VIs Carthage must be destroyed deleted
    (Sorry no Labview "brag list" so far)

  • Problems with send forward/back

    This shouldn't be a problem, but it's driving me crazy.
    I've created a calendar with inDesign. Pictures, month name and calendar, all designed for a CD case. I have no problem arranging the order (front to back) of the above, but I also have lines across the page to guide me for the paper cutter. These are essentially crop marks (I need the whole lines because a) there are two pics per page, and b) to make the slice work with the paper cutter.) We're not talking a pro project here.
    No matter what I do, the lines I create will *not* appear above the pictures. They absolutely insist on being behind everything. I've moved the pics back, the lines forward, etc etc. It never ever works. Again: the text and the pictures move forward and back as expected; only the lines don't.
    WHAT am I doing wrong???
    Thanks for any help.
    EdB

    I'm guessing you've put them on the master page (presuming, as Simon has already said, they really are lines and not guides) and you've just discovered a fundamental rule of stacking in ID.
    For any given layer, master items are always at the bottom of the stack, behind anything created on the live document page ON THAT PARTICULAR LAYER, and are not affected by the send forward/backward commands as long as they are not overridden onto the page. Everything, including master items, on a layer will be in front of everything on any layer below it in the layers panel, and behind anything on any layer positioned above.
    Another common scenario where you need to add another layer to accommodate this stacking order is with automatic page numbers which might otherwise become hidden under a page element like a photo that bleeds off the edge.

  • Problem with Send and Receive Emal In SAP System

    Hi gurus!
    I have a following quote:
    Dear !
    I have a problem with send and receive email in SAP system following :
    I want to test send and receive email in local network at my company. I
    had two server
    Server 1 : I setup Exchange Mail Server 2007 with domain controller is
    fes.com
    Server 2 : I setup SAP ERP ECC 6.0
    On Server 1 : I created 2 account ( u1Afes.com and u2Afes.com ) and then I tested send and receive email between u1 and u2 in local network through Microsoft Outlook 2007 -> OK
    and then
    On Server 2: I had configured send and receive email on SAP system
    through tcode SBWP, SCOT and SOST as Note 455140 - "Configuration of
    e-mail, fax, paging or SMS using SMTP"
    for example :
    I logged in SAP system with user Basis01 (with email u1Afes.com ) -> then,using tcode SBWP -> new message -> send to u2Afes.com with Internet Mail type and then status message with green light -> sending ok
    and then I have used Microsoft Outlook 2007, I logged with account u2 ->check email -> Ok. I saw message which send from u1
    Finally, My problem is how can receive mail in SAP system without using Microsoft Outlook
    For example:
    Login system SAP with Basis01 account (with  u1Afes.com ) -> tcode SBWP ->New Message -> send to u2Afes.com
    and then
    Login system SAP with Basis02 account (with u2Afes.com ) -> tcode ??? ->
    To receive email from Basis01 (with u1Afes.com )
    Please help me now
    Thanks
    I replace "@" with "A" because of banning email of this forum.
    This quote is about sending email in local network. And we can't receive any email from the outside email address. Addition if I wanna send email to internal email in Internet (we've just tried with email address in local network) What should I config in SAP and Exchange ?
    By the way, Is SAP Server IP added to Relay Agent for sending or receiving mail ?

    Hi,
    This problem is a classic problem of mail routing via Exchange. Exchange like most mail servers use the domain part of the email address as a means to route mails. So I will make an assumption that your main company mail addrss is "User @ fes.com".
    So when you send a mail to the "User @ fes.com mail" address the mail is delivered to your Outlook mail address as this is the default route for company.
    (Q) So how do you get your Exchange server to relay the mail into the sending SAP system?
    (A) The easiest way would be to setup and unique mail domain for your SAP system. I always recommend "user @ client.sid.company.com" which in your case would be "u1 @ 100.PRD.fes.com". You can then instruct Exchange to send any emails addressed to 100.PRD.fes.com domain to your SAP system. Also using this format of address you can configure multiple mail connections into multiple SAP systems.
    (A) Another answer would be to enter the "Full" email address (LOcal and Domain part of address) into the routing rule for Exchange e.g. "U1 @ fes.com" so that all emails addressed to this user will be delivered into SAP. However this method requires a lot of Admin as you will have to update Exchange with ALL email address that need to receive emails. Also if your corporate mail address is "U1 @ fes.com" then all mails will be forwarded to SAP.
    I would definitely NOT recommend this method but the decision is up to you.
    P.S. The IP address of the SAP system is entered into the mail header of the email. This is standard practice in SMTP relay. You can suppress this header in Exchange
    Hope this helps
    Michael

  • Problems with retrieving data from tables with 240 and more records

    Hi,
    I've been connecting to Oracle 11g Server (not sure exact version) using Oracle 10.1.0 Client and O10 Oracle 10g driver. Everything was ok.
    I installed Oracle 11.2.0 Client and I started to have problems with retrieving data from tables.
    First I used the same connection string, driver and so on (O10 Oracle 10g) then I tried ORA Oracle but with no luck. The result is like this:
    I'm able to connect to database. I'm able to retrieve data but from small tables (e.g. with 110 records it works perfectly using both O10 and ORA drivers). When I try to retrieve data from tables with like 240 and more records retrieval simply hangs (nothing happens at all - no error, no timeout). Application seems to hang forever.
    I'm using Powerbuilder to connect to Database (either PB10.5 using O10 driver or PB12 using ORA driver). I used DBTrace, so I see that query hangs on the first FETCH.
    So for the retrievals that hang I have something like:
    (3260008): BIND SELECT OUTPUT BUFFER (DataWindow):(DBI_SELBIND) (0.186 MS / 18978.709 MS)
    (3260008): ,len=160,type=DECIMAL,pbt=4,dbt=0,ct=0,prec=0,scale=0
    (3260008): ,len=160,type=DECIMAL,pbt=4,dbt=0,ct=0,prec=0,scale=1
    (3260008): ,len=160,type=DECIMAL,pbt=4,dbt=0,ct=0,prec=0,scale=0
    (3260008): EXECUTE:(DBI_DW_EXECUTE) (192.982 MS / 19171.691 MS)
    (3260008): FETCH NEXT:(DBI_FETCHNEXT)
    and this is the last line,
    while for retrievals that end, I have FETCH producing time, data in buffer and moving to the next Fetch until all data is retrieved
    On the side note, I have no problems with retrieving data either by SQL Developer or DbVisualizer.
    Problems started when I installed 11.2.0 Client. Even if I want to use 10.0.1 Client, the same problem occurs. So I guess something from 11.2.0 overrides 10.0.1 settings.
    I will appreciate any comments/hints/help.
    Thank you very much.

Installing 11g client changed something that even using old 10g client (which I still have installed) fails to work. The same problem occur no matter I'm using 10g or 11g client now. Powerbuilder hangs on retrieving tables with more than like 240 records.

  • Problem in sending data to parallel port

    Hello,
    I can open a parallel port (LPT1) using java comm api i,e javax.comm.
    but problem in sending data to parallel port,
    I choose the appropriate port(LPT1), it is in bi-directional mode according to BIOS configuration.
    but according to the java program the mode is SSP.
    when i write data to parallel port the volt-meter give a reading of high state for all data pin (pin1 to 9) i,e the parallel port doesnot change state. I am using windows XP.
    What is the solution?

    try it on Open Solaris 10 or Linux platform.
    also just try using the new FileWriter("LPT1").write("Hello");
    on windows platform

  • Problem with loading data to Essbase

    Hi All,
    I have a problem with loading data into Essbase. I've prepared maxl script to load the data, calling rule file. The source table is located in RDBMS Oracle. The script works correctly, ie. generally loads data into Essbase.
    But the problem lies in the fact, that after deletion of data from Essbase, when I'm trying to load it again from the source table I get the message: WARNING - 1003035 - No data values modified by load of this data file - although there is no data in Essbase... I've also tried to change the mode of loading data from 'overwrite' to 'add to existing values' (in rule file) but it does'nt help ... Any ideas what can I do?

    http://gafgarion.atspace.com/psp/2.jpg

  • Facing lot of problems with the DATA object  -- Urgent

    Hi,
    I am facing lot of problems with the data object in VC.
    1. I created the RFC initially and then imported the data object in to VC. Later i did some modifications to RFC Function module,and when i reload the data object, I am not able to see the new changes done to RFC in VC.
    2. Even if i delete the function module, after redeploying the IVIew, results are getting displayed.
    3. How stable is the VC?
      I restarted the sql server and portal connection to R3 is also made afresh.... still i am viewing such surprise results..
    please let me know what might be the problem.

    Hi Lior,
    Are u aware of this problem.
    If yes, please let me know...

  • Problem with a data set: DIAdem crashes

    Hi,
    I've got a problem with a data set. When I want to zoom in DIAdem-View, DIAdem crashes with the following message (translated from German ;-):
    error type: FLOAT INEXACT RESULT or FLOAT INVALID OPERATION or FLOAT STACK CHECK
    error address: 00016CB8
    module name: gfsview.DLL
    I've got some similar data set not showing such problems. Further on I scanned the data a bit, but in the 59000 points I didn't see anything special. I did try to delete "NOVALUE"s as well, but after that there still exist "NOVALUE"s.
    Does anyone have an idea what to look for?
    Thanks,
    Carsten

    Carsten,
    Could you please upload you Citadel database to the following FTP site:
    ftp.ni.com/incoming
    If you want to compress (ZIP) and/or put a password on the data, that's fine. Please send me a private email at [email protected] (with the file name and password if you put one on the file) once you have uploaded the file and I will check it out.
