Java software on Exadata
Hi
Our application has Java code:
1) In process running on the same machine as the database [we do that because the CPU usage of this code is marginal
vs the one of the db]
2) In stored procedure started by oracle scheduler
If we migrate to Exadata, can we still run this code?
B.R.
Sure you can, as long as your code runs on Intel cpus, under Linux (being java, this should be no pblm).

HT1338 I need to upgrade my JAVA software - I'm in a MacBook Leopard 10.5.8?
I'm trying to use an on-line program that may require me to upgrade my JAVA software. Any ideas?
MacBook 4.1 Leopard 10.5.8
JimUpgrade your OS:
Upgrading to Snow Leopard, Lion, or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You must purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
Snow Leopard General Requirements
1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
2. 1GB of memory
3. 5GB of available disk space
4. DVD drive for installation
5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
fees may apply.
6. Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and
terms apply.
Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax. It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
Lion System Requirements
1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
or Xeon processor
2. 2GB of memory
3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
4. 7GB of available space
5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
7. Xserve (Early 2009)
Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.
Am I eligible for the free upgrade?
See Apple - Free OS X Mountain Lion upgrade Program.
For a complete How-To introduction from Apple see Upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion. -

I would like to use Java version 6.Hi John,
I sort of remember Java 6 being IntelMac only...
Once you’ve gotten logged in, go to Downloads, select “Java” on the right hand side of the page, and download the Java SE 6 beta. Note: this is only available for Intel Macs running Tiger or Leopard — if you’ve got a G4 or G5, you’re out of luck right now

Java software for my PDA O2 XDA11i
I have an XDA11i but cannot access my bank account details in Internet Explorer keeps giving error message stating the I need to download Sun Java. Can anyone please advise what Java software I can download that is compatible with a PDA particularly an XDA11i that will allow me access to secure bank services.
Regards
Smileyhello, this is a developer site, not an end user site. So it is unlikely you will get a good responce here.
I would try contacting your PDA provider (XDAs are O2? http://www.my-xda.com/ )
However it sounds like you need an applet, few "End User" friendly Java SE implemenations exist for the Windows Mobile. Most are Jave ME, which does not run applets.
Try:
♦ A list of JVMs for PPC
♦ Java on PocketPC, the Unofficial FAQ
♦ Mysaifu JVM
Finally, contact your bank, and ask if they do Mobile version of the site. Also an applet is not Disabiled Freindly, and so they should also provied a Disabiled Access site, try using that one. -
After installing a recent java software update(trojan horse) have not been able to open several bookmarked pages.
Was this the Security Update that disabled Java in the Browsers?
If so & you need Java, just reverse these unchecks to checks...

When I am trying to logging in to a government site i need to use Oracle's Java software. I have a Macbook Pro V 10.6.8 which has this program already installed on it. when trying to set up my login to the government site it informs me that I need the latest version. The system updates are all up to date. I am trying to use this through Safari which can have either 64 or 32bit. Why can I not access this site?
NOTE: Text with images, hopefully visible this time. I don't understand why the editor allows you to upload images (in this instance .tiff saved by default by Grab) that will not be visible on the page after editing...
After upgrading to Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite, despite upgrading Java (JRE client) amongst all the other out of date clients, I still get the following popup:
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the JRE several times just to check it's not a legacy problem, but it makes no difference. Despite the Oracle verifying ok:
and the system settings for Java confirm that there is only one version installed:
Any ideas? It seems to be just annoying as so far all content works and I haven't noticed any software problems...
Thanks... -
Java software critical update - virus?
Hi guys I was streaming a show online and this screen popped up saying Java Software Critical Update and it won't let me shut down the computer or anything; I CANNOT get rid of it unless I update. Is this a virus?
It's not a virus. It's a malicious web page created by imbeciles who are trying to find and victimize the few people on earth even more stupid than themselves — a difficult task.
Some of those scam pages can be dismissed very easily. Press command-W to close the tab or window. A huge box will pop up. Press the return key and both the box and the page will close. If that doesn't happen, continue.
From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
and uncheck the box marked Enable JavaScript. Leave the preferences dialog open.
Close the malicious window or tab.
Re-enable JavaScript and close the preferences dialog.
If the Preferences menu item is grayed out, quit Safari. Force quit if necessary. Relaunch it by holding down the shift key and clicking its icon in the Dock. From the menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
to get rid of any cookies or other data left by the server. Open your Downloads folder and delete anything you don't recognize. -
I was wondering what it takes to create a java software development company? I know you have to have a couple of employees and computers but what else do you have to have? And how would you get it?
something to sell that everyone 1 wants 2 needs
3 is better alternative to anything else in the same catagory 4 is about the same as everything else in the same catagory but cheeper 5 the ability to provide it -
How do java software developers protect their code from their customers...
How do java software developers protect their code from their customers, if their code can be easliy decompiled? I will really like to know how to protect my .jar archives and .class files.
Thanks,
RilwanJThat depends on what you mean by 'protect', and how paranoid you are.
The best way is with the license, but then... it's nearly impossible to know when someone violates the license.
You could make the source available to them for a reasonable fee (many companies won't even consider your product unless they can get the source).
And of course if you are really paranoid, you could obfuscate it. There are a bunch of tools around to do that. But obfuscating has it's own significant set of drawbacks.
Ultimately if you want your customers to take you seriously, you have to trust them. Onerous protection will usually cause them to look elsewhere. -
Deploying Java Software Updates and SCUP 2011
Hello again All,
I've created a Java software update (JRE 7u71 (x86)) using SCUP 2011, and followed Kent Agerlund's "The_Complete_SCUP_2011_installation_and_configuration_guide" (great doc by the way). I've made sure to include all of the switches and
installable/installed rules as recommended.
Now the problem, once I advertise the update via SCCM, and begin installing, if a browser is open and Java is in use, then it will hang for a while and eventually just fail. However, when I run the java executable locally (jre-7u71-windows-i586.exe),
with the same switch (/s "IEXPLORER=1 MOZILLA=1" /quiet), the system will actually reboot and then install once booted back up; which is desirable.
Has anybody experienced this issue, and if so how do I remediate?
For 32 bit systems, I also get the following prompt;
Note: I'm not sure why the full switch is required, as I can only find reference that the JRE executable supports the "/s".
I can provide logs as well, if requested.
Thanks,

How to check current java software installed on mac?
Hi, I have the macbook pro with mountain lion 10.8.2 software currently installed on it. I am also a really forgetful person and whenever I get an update alert on the app store, I dont bat an eye; I just hit install. I now have been hearing about this hole in the java software and it has me worried, I was told that apple released a software on the 19th of february but I can not for the life of me remember if i did update that particular software, is there a way to check? I would really appreciate some help.
Unless you specifically installed Java it is not on your system Apple stoped shipping their machines with Java installed a while back.
However if you want to make sure that Java is not installed open a Terminal window (/Applications/Utilities/Terminal or enter Terminal in a spotlight search).
When the window opens enter
java --version
If java is installed you'll get its version number back if not this window will open
and then press Not Now
