Java tutorial/resources for writing a RSS agregator/reader

Hi,
I'm planning to write a simple java RSS reader/aggregator application and I'm would really appreciate it if someone would point out where I could find tutorials and the appropiate RSS java libaries/API's
Thanks

thanks for that - ive seen the rss utilities page on java sun but assumed that it was for writing apps in JSP !
IAs far as i can tell the google link doesnt provide a tutorial on writing code for a desktop java application which can be used to read given rss feeds.
Do correct me if im wrong.
Thanks

  • Java Programming Resources for starting out

    Hey guys,
What are the best resources for starting out with Java. I did a bit of work with Java in my Uni course but it was about 2 years ago. I'd like to go over it from the start and get familar with everything again.
Can anyone suggest some good places to get Resources, Tutorials and Exercises for Java Programming?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Developer resources for writing plugins?

Our system is having problems with robots - we don't want to ban then, because we want our pages indexed, but we can't handle the load.
I'd like to throttle the load. Each requesting IP may have (say) 10 requests queued, and no more than 10 requests in any 10-second period (this allows human users to see pages with images). There are some site-specific rules: if the request comes from a certain internal IPs, then I want to look at the X-Forwarded-For header rather than simply the source of the request.
So that's why I'm thinking of a custom-built plugin. Where would I find the doco about writing and installing a thing like that? I prefer Java - but

This seems like an ideal use for the built-in Request Limiting feature of Web Server 7. Jyri Virkki has written a few blog entries on this subject:
Also of interest might be this conversation we had a while about about throttling:
Based on a superficial readthrough of your post I suspect that combining the <If ...> conditional syntax with the request limiting will do what you want. That certainly seems easier (to me) than trying to write a SAF or IO Filter to do this.

  • Tutorial Resources for Adobe Bridge PS CS3 for Windows?

Can anyone provide links to some really good Adobe Bridge CS3 tutorials? I'd liked to find resources other than those found from within Bridge it's self. So far, my Google-ing hasn't produced the desired results. Thanks.

If you ASSIGN your monitor profile to an image already CONVERTED to sRGB in PS, it looks like Windows viewer. This is because Windows viewer is not color managed
If I understand you, then any sRGB image displayed on my monitor in a non-color-managed app will be more saturated and redder than it should be because its pixel values are being interpreted as if they were in my monitor's custom wider-than-sRGB colorspace when in fact they're not.  When displayed in PS, Photoshop "knows" that they're in sRGB and my monitor isn't, and adjusts accordingly.  Right?
Here are some shots from the MS Color control panel applet comparing my monitor's gamut (color shape) to sRGB (white/gray shape):
    From "below":
    From the side:
    From "above":
This explains why there's more red, but curiously I don't see the same effect in the green, which has an even wider gamut as shown below.  Maybe the green levels in this image aren't high enough to be shifted appreciably?

  • Does it support regional languages like marathi, gujrati, kannada etc for writing as well as reading ?

Does Mac book pro with retina display support regonal languages like marathi, gujarati, kannada etc for typing any documents ?
If it supports then what i need to do ?

Yes, here is a list of keyboards:

You turn them on in system preferences/language & text/input sources.  Fonts take care of the themselves.

  • Java accessibility Bridge for windows

I have installed Java Accessibility Bridge for windows but the screen reader in windows (Narrator) is not responding to my java application. On searching the internet, most of them mentioned about JAWS. So is it the only screen reader supporting Java Accessibility Bridge? Also is there any way to use it with Narrator?
    Thanks in advance
    leeman

Narrator doesn't use the Java Access Bridge so it will not work with Java. Recommend you use another screen reader. Yes, many people do use JAWS, but I also know SuperNova (from Dolphin) and NVDA also work.

  • KM Resource for Super User to add attributes

    System: BI Portal, 7.0
I want to create a resource for my super users to add description data to a report, but I don't want the other users to be able to see that control on their screens. In other words I don't want them to attempt to add description data and get a "permission error", they should not see the control.
Currently all of my controls on the iview's resources are read only. In the KM content directory the "super users" can add reports to the specific directories that they have permission for.
    How is that done?
Do I have to create another iview with specific editing resources on it for the super users?
    Thanks,
    Mike

I'll create a new role and resources for users to make adjustments.

  • File upload in KM throws a system exception: java.util.MissingResourceException: Can't find resource for bundle java.util.PropertyResourceBundle, key xtlt_Required

    Hi All,
We are on Netweaver 7.01 SP14. (well I understand we are way behind patch levels, but a simple file upload should be working ?/)

    Hi Vijay,
    Thanks for the quick reply.
I have gone through the notes 1535201  & now on 1606563  after your advise.
Both the notes says the fix is available on 7.01 after SP 07 and we are on SP 14 already.
Also just in case I did checked with our basis and they confirmed we are a head and we have the above notes in our release already.
Unfortunately the notes are not the solution to the investigation till date.
    Thanks,
    Sai

  • Moving into cluster, what are the consequences for writing java ?

    Hello,
We are intending to write a java web application and it should be deployed on a
    Websphere Application Server cluster.
Is there any important things we should know about how to write our java application so it will be
compatible with cluster ? (parameters, classes, statics , etc...).
    Thanks !!

Thanks, but as i understood, there IS a best practice for writing J2EE code under Cluster.
Something with statics and forwarding parameters by session and not by request.

-Have you used any database connectivity for your report (like JDBC or ODBC)? Does your report work fine from designer ?
-The reason you are getting this error might be that the u201Cojdbc14.jaru201D or the JDBC driver type jar file you are using might not be present in the u201CCRConfig.xmlu201D class path location.
-For resolving this error message, please add the u201Cojdbc14.jaru201D to the CRConfig.xml file class path present in the folder u201CC:\Program Files\Common Files\Business Objects\3.0\javau201D for CR XI.
-Also, please make sure whether you have copied the JDBC driver to the WEB-INF\lib folder.
-Apart from this.please make sure that you have copied all the JAR files from business objects lib folder inside lib folder of your application.
    Thanks,

  • Can't open '/dev/rdisk1' for writing (Resource busy)

I got a Macbook Pro, install win7 on boot camp. When I wanted to resinstall win7, I accidently click on Recover button and it deleted all my partitions and become one, which run Mac OS. I tried to recover my data partition. On google, I found some guy do it with 'pdisk' command. I followed steps but when I tried to use pdisk:
    sudo pdisk /dev/rdisk0
    and use command 'i':
i got a message: can't open '/dev/rdisk0' for writing (Resource busy)
So I borrowed a Mac, connected it with my Macbook through FireWire, and set my Mac in 'Target Disk Mode' and use pdisk again:
    sudo pdisk /dev/rdisk1
when i use command 'i', i still got the message:
can't open '/dev/rdisk1' for writing (Resource busy).
Can anyone know what is this problem? Do I need to extract my hard disk from my Mac?
    Please tell me about it!
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Thank you for youre answer, that was very useful. It helped me find the solution. The file I wanted to edit was downloaded with Inno Script Studio, which by installation changed the attributes of the file to none writable. So simple by setting a parameter
in this scripture I was given write access.

  • Method to verify VISA resource is ready for writing.

Dear Forum, I have a piece of equipment which I am connecting to LabView via serial. The Instrument Assistant is of course totally useless and fails for inexplicable reasons, but everything works perfectly in hyperterminal.
When I try to adapt the "Basic Serial Write and Read.vi" example to my application, the implementation is very straightforward. However, it fails to work despite working in hyperterminal. After a little bit of investigation, I have determined that the problem is that after "VISA Configure Serial Port" the port is not *actually* available for writing quite yet, most likely because this is a very old computer.
By inserting a delay between the "VISA Configure Serial Port" and the "VISA Write" I am able to get the program to work as expected 100% of the time. However, this is a very bad solution because on an end user's computer (which may be far better than this one) such a long delay may be completely unnecessary and cause poor performance. Particularly because this piece of equipment has 8 analog inputs, 8 analog outputs, 4 Relays, 20 24VDC outputs, 8 DIOs, and 3 passthrough RS232 ports so it will be communicating a lot of data.
Is there a function that I can use to *guarantee* that the COM port is actually ready for writing? If I could do this, then it might return almost immediately on a fast computer, while still allowing plenty of time for slower computers to finish opening the port. It may well be something happening on the windows driver side of the port open command.
This is LabView 8.20 running on a Windows XP in VirtualBox on Linux host server. Please don't just tell me that I should not be using Virtualized Windows, I'm sure this problem happens for people with old hardware as well as that is the only significant difference in terms of serial API. The virtualized instance is just likely to be slower dealing with hardware than it would be otherwise.
    Solved!

This shouldn't be an issue, you open Visa resource and configure it at the start of the program and leave it open until you close the program  when you close the resource. A 100ms delay should be sufficient and only happens once. If you open, configure and close the resource every loop you'll run into lots of strange behaviour.

  • Resources for first java soap client/server endeavour?

    Hello community,
Im looking for some good resources for setting up a soap server, on apache tomcat, to handle incoming soap messages and send a soap response to the client.
Any links to examples/sample code are greatly appreciated. I am completely new to webservices.
your help is appreciated, thank you.

Christ, how did I mange to make those typos?
You need a webserver to accept the requests, and something like Tomcat to run your web service. Since Tomcat has a webserver (doesn't it include Apache?) already, Tomcat is all you need, but it won't really care whether you send some XML using HTTP or HTML form data using HTTP. It's still HTTP.
