Issue: Aliasing text in render, regardless of Preset

Hello
I'm new to AE CS6, but I have done SOME A/V in Corel Pro for both low and HD high-res, so I'm a newbie, but I am familiar with common Presets for different quality requirements.
The issue is, the rendered AVI (911,280KB !!) shows aliased text - text that fades in using opacity fade in with keyframes. I've tried one HD and one NTSC/DV preset. I've tried adjusting the Advanced render settings.
Please let me know if I should provide system spec, or if the issue is uncommon and needs further detail, i.e. is this a common issue for 1st time users that can be solved by click of a switch...
I haven't installed QuickTime, yet either.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Issue in short form by illustration:
1- showing text/stage with composition settings:
2 - showing the render output settings
3 - Showing AVI video in Windows Media Player at default size, i.e. window has not be adjusted or resized manually.

Hi Dave
Thanks or your reply, and for the pointers. Very basics only, but looking forward to learn more. Watched this on video2brain: http://www.video2brain.com/en/lessons/fields-and-interlacing, which helped. The Field Order was already None. Incidentally, the choice of NTSC DV was made by watching a layering tutorial. Secondly, the Comp Settings are Classic 3D. AVI is wrong (or me, for web) What I need to do is experiment with the Output Module.
'Field Order' is Field Render?
I just want to add, in Corel, I've only ever exported as WAV/WMV with web video a target (thank to YT for doing a great job at converting hi res rendered HD to lower res)... so I need to try other output settings, certainly. My ouput target is web video, Vimeo / YouTube...
UPDATE ON WAV as output instead of AVI, positive result, text renders as desired:
Seems like I got misled by the earlier layering YT tutorial. AVI for WEB-VOD! Why didn't I realise, been there before now that I think about it.
Learnt 2 things: stick to the output settings I know work for conversion to web video, and Interlacing basics
Thank you or your time and help Dave, grateful.

  • Render issues with text

I have made a short 1 min movie, and have rendered it.  I want to download to youtube, but when I try to export using quicktime conversion, it shows render issues wherever I have text.  Once I get cancel out, it shows no render problems.
When I remove the text, the render problem still remains.  I can export with quicktime, but not sure youtube will allow this to be downloaded.

Please define: "render issues" and also the phrase "Once I get cancel out"

  • LineBreakMeasurer with anti-aliased text

    Hello,
I am developing an application, which needs to render anti-aliased text. The application uses LineBreakMeasurer for text layout. Without anti-aliasing, LineBreakMeasurer works perfectly. However, when I turn anti-aliasing on, the text lines returned by LineBreakMeasurer.nextLayout() are too long (that is, longer than the specified wrapping width).
    For example, if I call
    TextLayout layout = measurer.nextLayout(92.0);
    then
    layout.getAdvance()
    might return 101.0.
Has anybody been able to make LineBreakMeasurer to work with anti-aliased text?
    Thanks,

issues with texting after the 6.1 update on my iPhone

My wife and I are on different networks ie GCI vs AT&T after we both updated our iphones to 6.1 we no longer can receive texts messaging even though both are phones say the message was delivered. we can however text with other iphone users as long they are withing the same carrier and with everyone as long as they are not other iphones regardless of the carrier as well as with other iphon users that are still using 6.0. My wife and I also have ipads with wifi only and the one we updated to 6.1 is having the same issue while the one that is still 6.0 has no issue and will send and receive messages with out issue even to and from the 6.1 devives that are having issues. I have contacted both service providers and was told it is a Apple messaging issue. At this point I just would like to find and reinstal the 6.

I'm having issues with text layers in photoshop. They aren't visible. I've checked font size, alignment, layer order and color. And the layer list shows that it's there. All seems well but I still can't see the text that I write. Need help trouble shooting. (I asked this question about a month ago but I got sidetracked and never circled back.) Thanks.

  • Issue in text element in Bex after transport

    Hi All,
I'm facing an issue in text element assigned to Fiscal year .
In Bex design mode ,I introduced text element and I choosed the "Display Current fiscal year(Variable/Key)" in Development system and after releasing the design mode Im seeing the year in numbers, say 2010(user entered year).
Now I transported to Quality system when checking the report Im seeing the year is changed to text format, that is "'Cal. Year, 4 Special Periods 2010" and in design mode > text element property> "Display Current fiscal year(Variable/text)" is checked.
Could anyone help me why this change happening from one system to another system.

  • Anti-aliased text when exporting PDF to image

I need to be able to batch-convert multi-page PDFs to individual bitmap images (one image for each page) with anti-aliased text.
Photoshop works this way if you open a single PDF, allowing you to select one or more pages to rasterize as separate images, but not when batch processing (specifically, if you use the Image Processor script on a folder of images and PDFs, it will rasterize the PDFs automatically, but it will only do so with the first page of each PDF.)
Acrobat, on the other hand, automatically creates an image for each page when exporting, and can do this in a batch sequence, but the text is not anti-aliased, making the image look like a screenshot from 1997. No matter how high an image resolution you select, the text is still jagged when you zoom in.
So, is there a setting I'm missing that will allow the text to be anti-aliased when using Acrobat to export PDF to an image? I am using Acrobat 8, not 9, so something might have changed in the newest version.

Not sure about Acrobat Pro 8, but in Acrobat Pro 9 (not Extended) you can Export>Image>Multiple Choice: JPEG, JPEG2000, PNG, TIFF.  I used JPEG and under the options in the export dialog box, leave the filename as is to coincide with the PDF filename and then choose Maximum Resolution under File Settings: Grayscale (JPEG, Quality:Maximum); Color (JPEG, Quality:Maximum) . . . skip down to Conversion Colorspace: Determine Automatically and Resolution choose 600pixels/inch for a letter size document.  This will result in a file size of 1.3MB per JPEG image if there is not a lot of information on the page.  I chose a simple header, footer with page numbering, and 5 lines of Lorem Ipsum text.  600dpi is overkill, you can go for 300dpi and still result in a decent image that will be able to be printed on a laser photocopier that is connected to a production computer.  Obviously if you are printing to a laser printer or a high quality inkjet 300dpi will suffice as well for a letter sized document.  But I have been told that 300dpi is not a standard rule of thumb and you must obtain specs from your printer since he/she can calculate by very strict rules the dpi you need for your content.  It depends on whether you have background images such as watermarks and also if your text body contains line-art.

  • Issues with text on different OS

    Hi,
On the "credits" section of my site,
www.danielwaltermusic.com, I am having an issue with text appearing
differently on OSX vs Windows. On OSX the text appears normally,
with the links located exactly where they are supposed to be. On
Windows XP and Ubuntu 2.22.3 (only systems I've been able to check
it on) the links are located improperly like so:
    http://www.danielwaltermusic.com/awoa/siteexample.JPG
If anyone can point me in the right direction, that would be
great. My web designer is not using dynamic text so that is not the
    issue.
Also, if someone could help us figure out how to get the web
player to play songs sequentially (as it is, the player stops after
one song) that would be great.
    Thank you so much!

Hi - thanks for your reply.
I try not to use Iphoto, although it does sometimes kick in before i can cancel it. Normally, i copy the records from the card to the Imac hard drive.
I'm assuming the CF card may have been formatted by a previous windows machine at some point. Is this likely to be an issue?

My Quad is as quiet with 10.4.5 as it was on arrival Jan 31, with 10.4.2
Altivec Fractal Carbon gives the CPU too much chance to cool down. I've got other ways to drive the CPU to sustained 100% load. Yes, the fans speed up, but it's still pretty quiet. I've run it at 100% for hours.
I like the idea of taking things gradually. If you can wait a few days before making big changes, it can make things much easier. 3-4 weeks is very conservative, but great if you have that much patience.
My Quad has been up full-time since I got it. Works perfectly.

Turn off iMessage on the old iPhone.
    Restore the iPhone as new.
Have the other iPhone users delete the current message thread, and start a new messae to you.
Have the other iPhone users delete your contact, then re-add it.
Go to ww.icloud.com and remove the device from your Find My iPhone.
Go to appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and/or password.

  • Live text template render issue when using Media Encoder?

I'm running into flash frames with Media Encoder exports of Premiere sequences using the live text templates.
Unfortunately, AME doesn't flag it as an error, so the render completes without any issues in the render log and the only way to find it is to watch the rendered file.
I have tried different combinations of having After Effects open or closed, with the live text template comp open or closed; I can't consistently reproduce the problem with any certainty and so am having trouble pinpointing the source.
My only hypotheses so far are that:
The glitches seem to be happening in the dynamic link between AME and PP, not AE and PP. The live text will pop back to the duplicated comp's text for one frame. Video playing simultaneously doesn't pop.
In other words, the AE text template said: "name here". In PP it was edited to say "John Doe", then that comp was duplicated and edited to say "Bob Smith". Everything looks fine in PP. There are no keys on the source text in AE (I have noticed that if there are keys on the source text in AE, the text will pop back to the original AE text at that key in PP).
When rendered out of AME, halfway through Bob Smith's title, it will read "John Doe" for a single frame, then pop back to being Bob.
I've only had this happen so far with AME renders. The renders out of PP haven't given me any issues so far.
It might happen more frequently on longer segments? If a title is up for 45 sec instead of 10 sec, it may be more likely to pop.
The issue seems to occur more often in batch renders out of AME (happened to 3 of 5 files rendered in a batch, AME 2014.1) and/or with unrelated AE comps open (on a single render from AME 2014.2)
Again, it doesn't happen every time or to the same title, or in the same spot. Files are being rendered to ProRes 422 HQ. Unchecked "Use Previews" in AME.
Would be nice to get to the bottom of what's happening so I can recommend something to the editors when I hand off these live text templates to them.
I realize that the live text is a new feature as of 2014.1, but haven't found anyone else talking about this. Would love if this was a very simple fix that I'm missing.
I was able to reproduce the error on 2 different machines, with similar specs:

  • CS5 bug rendering anti-aliased text in 'Save for web'

Seems like there's a bit of a bug when using 'Save for web and devices' with thin weights of type in CS5 for Mac. Although thin type looks fine while working in Illustrator, as soon as you enter the 'Save for web' dialogue, it gets badly mangled. Looks like this issue has been present at least since CS4. It does not happen in Photoshop. It looks particularly bad for light text on a dark background.
Some people may say "sure, Illustrator is not really meant for intensive bitmap work". However, with features like 'pixel preview' and 'snap to pixel', Illustrator has (generally) become a very viable tool for web design, and personally I much prefer it to Photoshop. It is also clear that Adobe intends it to be usable in this manner. So the anti-aliasing render bug is definitely a problem. Just surprised they didn't address it when CS5 was born.
I put up some example images on http://www.thesheep.co.uk/2011/06/24/illustrator-save-for-web-anti-aliasing-problems/ to illustrate the problem.
Does anyone have any clever work-arounds for this? It's a bit annoying to have to move stuff over to PS before exporting, but maybe that's what I have to do. Hopefully Adobe will address this soon.

    Hi,
I am experiencing this same problem of pixelated gifs when I use the "save for web" dialog from Illustrator, but this solution has not worked for me. I have tried the trick of using type-optimized anti-aliasing, but it doesn't change the output at all. I've done this from within the "Image size" tab as well as through Effect>Rasterize>Options)Anti-aliasing: Type Optimized. My image is a logo made entirely from text, although for some of it I used "outline path", so I'm not sure if it still qualifies as text...I'm a newbie at this stuff, so the technical details are still quite opaque to me.
Does anyone know of a solution to this that does not require me to add Photoshop to my workflow?
    I'm using Illustrator in CS5, version 15.0.2.
    Thanks in advance
    Jonathan
