Java -version fails in 1.5.0_02

Hi,
I installed the 64 bit java self extracting binary on Solaris 5.8 Generic_117350-11. After setting my path to the new java directory (and bin), I do a
java -version (after verifying which java) at the shell prompt and I get back
java -versionError occurred during initialization of VM
java/lang/NoClassDefFoundError: java/lang/Object
It seems to be looking for some classpath in 1.5 that wasn't quite needed in 1.4. Any ideas?
Also, I don't see a javaw anymore in the bin directory. Is this correct?
Thanks
rgs_1

Color me embarrassed. I did install the 32 bit and then the 64 and all is well with the world again.
The install guide doesn't quite talk about this but I am guessing that we set the path to the $JAVA_HOME/bin/sparcv9/java to use the 64bit? (as opposed to $JAVA_HOME/bin/java which still looks like the 32 bit variant). Any thoughts? Thanks again.

  • "java -version" fails in Solaris 5.9 with relocation error

    Hi all,
    Appologies for the Java 'newbie-ness' of this query from the outset... But here goes. My current configuration is ...
    SunOS 5.9 Generic_112233-11 sun4u sparc SUNW,UltraAX-i2
    and I'm trying to run with Java 2 SDK, Standard Edition Version 1.4.1
    As far as I know, local support has fed me with the required patches to get me up and running so as I can use 'jar' to upgrade a jarfile. But if I try to do this (or even just try "java -version"), I just get...
    Error: failed /usr/j2se/jre/lib/sparc/client/libjvm.so, because ld.so.1: java: fatal: relocation error: file /usr/j2se/jre/lib/sparc/client/libjvm.so: symbol __1cG__CrunSregister_exit_code6FpG_v_v_: referenced symbol not found
    I can only find this bug (?) referencing Solaris 5.7 at most recent. Am I missing something obvious?
    I've got...
    setenv JAVA_HOME /usr/j2se
    setenv LD_LIBRARY_PATH $JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/sparc/server:$JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/sparc
    Are the solaris 7 patches not necessarilly in the patch bundle I've had stuffed on here...?

    It looks like that the likely cause of this error is some failed library dependancy. You can manually check if all libraries libjvm.so depends on are actually present on the system by running the following commands:
    $ cd /usr/j2se/jre/lib/sparc/client/
    $ ldd libjvm.so
    The output of the ldd command should look something like the following with possible slight deviations:
    libCrun.so.1 => /usr/lib/libCrun.so.1
    libdl.so.1 => /usr/lib/libdl.so.1
    libthread.so.1 => /usr/lib/libthread.so.1
    libsocket.so.1 => /usr/lib/libsocket.so.1
    libnsl.so.1 => /usr/lib/libnsl.so.1
    libm.so.1 => /usr/lib/libm.so.1
    libw.so.1 => /usr/lib/libw.so.1
    libc.so.1 => /usr/lib/libc.so.1
    librt.so.1 => /usr/lib/librt.so.1
    libmp.so.2 => /usr/lib/libmp.so.2
    libaio.so.1 => /usr/lib/libaio.so.1
    libmd5.so.1 => /usr/lib/libmd5.so.1
    /usr/platform/SUNW,Ultra-60/lib/libc_psr.so.1
    /usr/platform/SUNW,Ultra-60/lib/libmd5_psr.so.1
    Check if all library path's are actually present on the system, otherwise you will need to satisfy the missing dependencies.

  • Java version 1.4.2_06 to 1.5.0_08 and 1.5.0_10     vs.   1.6.0_02

    Hello. I did a system check on my computer for an onlline course I'm taking and it stated that I am running java version 1.6.0_02 annd thhat I need to upgrade to 1.4.2_06 to 1.5.0_08 and/or 1.5.0_10. It seems to me thought that the numbbers are going backward - and this would bbe an error. Does 1.6.0_02 have thhe capabilities of the othher numbers? what does anyone recommend I do?
    thanks,
    szo

    They have a bug in their version check. They didn't make it future proof. A program that can execute on e.g. 1.5 should be able to execute on 1.6

  • My Applet start failed due to security warning after upgrading java version

    Hi Team,
    We have an application where we read the weight from the attached weighing Scale (Hardware device).
    For this we use one Applet which runs and reads the data.
    Now we upgraded the Java version from 1.6 to 1.7 and started encountering a security alert 'Running unsigned applications like this will be blocked in a future release because it is potentially unsafe and a security risk'.
    Our application runs on a HTP port not on HTTPS because this is installed in client premise and no risk in opening HTTP port internally.
    Could you please help us in resolving the issue. We don't want to see the alert even after upgrading the Java version.
    Thanks,
    Vijay G

  • Java Instalation Failed. ~Please Help?~

    When i get to the installation step of download Java Version 6 Update 16 this error shows up.
    Error Msg:
    Installation Failed
    The wizard was interrupted before Java(TM) 6 Update 16 could be completely installed. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again.
    System:
    I'm runing Vista,
    500GB Hard drive, Laptop is like new so i dont think lack of hard drive space would be the problem.
    When Problem Occured:
    - I downloaded JDK 6 Update 14 with JavaFX SDK and saved everything into a folder on my desktop because I wasn't sure wether I wanted to keep it.
    - When i had no use for the program anymore i uninstalled it. I only had the program on the computer for a small while so im not sure weather Java was working after i downloaded because i never tested it out.
    - After i uninstalled it i realised Java was not working and one of the command prompts for one of my programs what used java said cannot find location of the folder That JDK was in, thats because i deleted it..
    -So i tryed to reinstall Java and this problem started.
    Things I have tryed:
    - Deleting all files associated with Java and retrying download.
    - Downloading other forms of Java such as;
    ----> Online & Offline RE download (interruption error)
    ----> JDK 6 Update 16 with Java EE (no runtime worked)
    ----> JDK 6 Update 14 with JavaFX SDK (no runtime again)
    - Downloading files to a desktop folder again, just incase. (Fail)
    Notes:
    - I could not find product key though to delete link to Java in control panel. (Possible cause?) Also the icon is not Java it is that blank page icon with Java written under it and when u click on it, it says "Aplication not found."
    - This happened two days ago.

    Have you tried to install the jdk. Do not insall from the download.
    Dowload the jdk to your computer (desktop or downloads) the install.
    I'm an XP, Linux and Mac user so I will have to check with some Vista users who have installed jdk.
    Also:
    Have you installed Firefox. One good thing IE is for is to download Firefox.

  • Java Georaster API error - wrong java version

    John.

    Looks like the code is explicitly checking for a specific version of Java without doing a greater than check, you'll have to trick the API
    Before you call the JGeoRaster Method, call:
    String temp = System.getProperty("java.specification.version");
    System.setProperty( "java.specification.version", "1.4.1" );
    the after call:
    System.setProperty("java.specification.version", temp);
    Alternatively, the JGeoRaster library that comes with 11g has a fix for this issue.

  • Loading Java Applet Failed in CRM 2007 Web Client Marketing

    We have recently upgraded our CRM 4.0 sp6 system to CRM 2007.  As part of this upgrade we configured the SAP Best Practice Building Blocks.  Logging on to the webclient using the user MKT_MAN (assigned business role BP_MKT_MAN) we get an error when trying to run the Marketing Calendar.  the error we get is that "Loading Java Applet Failed" the specific applet in question is: Applet com.sap.crm.mkt.calendar.applet.MktCalendar notinited
    We have implemented the following SAP notes to try and rectify the issue but with no success:
    Note 1177590 - Version 2.0 of Marketing Calendar java applet
    Note 1237477 - Marketing Calendar is not displayed, Tensegrity Library
    Any ideas as to what can resolve this issue
    Thanks in advance
    Eddie

    Hi Eddie
    I have exactly the same problem, using IE 6.0 & JRE 1.4.2_07.
    What I have found is that users in my company with the same configuration on their machines, same settings as above can load the Marketing Calendar without issue.
    Have loaded the same notes as yourself already.
    I have managed to get it to working by switching off my proxy settings entirely. This is fine for testing but of no use for go live.
    I have also found that when it does finally load successfully it is incredibly slow in comparison to other functionality within the WEB UI.
    Thus far I have logged an OSS Message regarding this matter, could I recommend you do the same, this should encourage SAP that the issue is not isolated.
    Good Luck

  • Java -version error

    Hello,
    I am installing 11.1.1.7  Soa Suite etc, and given all the talk about Jrocket, decided to give that a spin.  I am on Windows 7
    when I do a simple java -version I get the following:
    [WARN ][osal   ] Could not enumerate processes (1) error=-1073738819
    [WARN ][osal   ] Could not add counter (null)\ for query
    [WARN ][osal   ] Failed to init virtual size counter.

    I tried checking the  lodctr /q (from Could not enumerate processes (1) error? | Marcus Hirt) as suggested on the bottom of this page  Re: Web Logic server 10.3.5 not running , but everything looks ok -- nothing is disabled in the lodctr /q output.
    I was able to get a weblogic a quick domain running, but also got these errors when starting the domain.   Should I abandon Jrocket?  Can I expect it to function properly regardless of these warnings?
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you,
    Stuart

    When I do the same on my environment do not see the warnings you are encountering:
    C:\bea\jrockit-jdk1.6.0_45-R28.2.7-4.1.0\bin>java -version
    java version "1.6.0_45"
    Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_45-b06)
    Oracle JRockit(R) (build R28.2.7-7-155314-1.6.0_45-20130329-0646-windows-x86_64, compiled mode)
    What can be the case is that your machine is not actually 64-bit, i.e., that the hardware virtualization extensions (VT in the case of Intel) of your processor are not enabled (this is just a guess) - steps on how to do that are provided here: https://access.redhat.com/site/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/6/html/Virtualization_Administration_Guide/s….
    "Should I abandon JRockit?" No I think not, some examples that included WebLogic and JRockit set-up can be found here: Middleware Snippets: JRockit. All in all JRockit runs very smooth (never had any problem with it), but if the warnings do not go away, it is better to use something else (you never know what these lead to in a production environment).

    I installed Sun ONE Java Server 6.1 SP6 on Redhat Enterprise 4.0 64bit. This version uses java version "1.4.2_04" which is intalled in /opt/SUNWwbsvr/bin/https/jdk. With this configuration everything works ok. When I changed Java (/usr/java/jdk1.5.0_09) on version "1.5.0_09 (in server.xml) Sun One doesn't start. I have such error:
         CORE3170: Configuration initialization failed: Error running init function load-modules: dlopen of /opt/SUNWwbsvr/bin/https/lib/libj2eeplugin.so failed (libjvm.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory)
    I checked file libjvm.so and it is in locations: /opt/SUNWwbsvr/bin/https/lib/ and /usr/java/jdk1.5.0_09/jre/lib/amd64/server.
    Does anybody know what is wrong ???
    Thanks for help

  • Offline Content Player & Java Version Issue

    Hi Friends,
    Does anyone know that the LSO Offline Content Player works only on Java Version 1.4.2 and not on any other?
    Also, if the Organisation goes in for a Java Upgrade ( say Version 1.5), would the Offline Content Player Application not fail?
    Points Assured!
    Tan..

    Hello Tania,
    The Offline Content Player does work with newer versions of the JRE, however you will have to test the OCP prior to any additional JRE rollout. This should be part of your companies software deployment strategy.

    Hi HMLunger,
    Did you install the SQL Server instance successfully? If not, please help to post the summary and detail logs for analysis. By default, the logs can be found in: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\110\Setup Bootstrap\Log.
    However, if you fail to start SQL Server Express service after successfully installing SQL Server,
    you might have to change the paths of the files by running the following scripts from the command prompt. For more details, please review this similar
    thread.
    NET START MSSQL$SQLEXPRESS /f /T3608
    SQLCMD -S .\SQLEXPRESS
    ALTER DATABASE model MODIFY FILE (NAME = logical_name , FILENAME = 'new_path\os_file_name');
    ALTER DATABASE model MODIFY FILE (NAME = logical_name , FILENAME = 'new_path\os_file_name');
    go
    exit;
    ALTER DATABASE msdb MODIFY FILE (NAME = logical_name , FILENAME = 'new_path\os_file_name');
    ALTER DATABASE msdb MODIFY FILE (NAME = logical_name , FILENAME = 'new_path\os_file_name');
    NET STOP MSSQL$SQLEXPRESS
    In addition, you can follow the steps in this KB article to uninstall SQL Server.
