Java word HTML microsoft com question
Hi:
I am very new to Java and I don't need to you write any code for me, so please don't flame me :D
I am in the process of planning a utility that will convert/assemble Microsoft Word Docs into HTMLs and then build search/sort/etc functionalities on the HTMLs.
My question: I guess this can be done in Java via COM bridge in Windows. Is it the same on Macintosh/Apple platform? Do Apple even have a COM interface as well that a Java program can utilize? If not and I am limited to the Windows platform, I might not even need use Java at all.
Any other suggestions toward this idea is greatly appreciated. I got it to work with Perl and some freeware utlity that convets Word->Txt, and I then generate HTML from Txt with my links and stuff. I just want to make it more user friendly by providing some kind of interface/configurations.

I have not used it, but you might look into POI to parse the word docs, then you can output whatever you want - you might look into ECS to generate the HTML.

excel problem
i have problem in excel when i write Arabic or i receive any excel file contain Arabic word it come like letters it do not come like word
my Microsoft office is 2011
what i can doMS Office for Mac does not really support Arabic. But you may just have a font problem. Disconnected letters means a Windows font is being used. Change the font to a Mac font like Geeza Pro.
For better Arabic support, try OpenOffice. -

This is a SIMPLE http server. You would have to emulate an application server ( like Tomcat ) yourself if you want full-blown servlet / jsp functionality. You could define a simple jsp-ish domain specific language and parse it yourself, though.
That might be an interesting exercise, but not one that would appeal to me. -

Explanation
아래와 같은 절차에 따라 IE에서 Embeded 형태로
MICROSOFT WORD R MICROSOFT EXCEL 를 볼수 있습니다.
1.Viewer type을 추가합니다, Word 와 Excel Type 두개 모두 해야합니다.
2.Sysadmin responsibility권한으로 Login
3.Navigate as follows:
Install -> Viewer Options
4.다음 two lines 을 추가하고 저장한다.

Text text/11i word 11i word
5.다음을 실행합니다.
5.1. Navigate to Profile --> System
5.2. Search for %viewer%
5.3. Click on the "Viewer:Application for Text". You should get the "…"
5.4. Select either the 11i Excel or 11i Word option.
(In this example choose 11i Word.)
5.5. Save the configuration.
5.6. Log out and log in again
5.7. Login as sysadmin responsibility
5.8. Go to "File" at the top and choose "Log on as a different user"
If you don't have any reports that you can view then run a simple
report like active users.
5.9. Navigate to Requests --> View
5.10. Choose View All My Requests
5.11. Find the Active user report or any other report you wish to use.
5.12. The Netscape Browser should come up and you will get a dialogue
window that says the following:
File Download
"You have chosen to download a file from this location.
What would you like to do with this file?"
5.13. You have two choices. Open the file or save the file to disk.
5.14. You also have a check box that if you uncheck it you will no
longer get this window.
5.15. Select Open this file from it's current location.
5.16. You will now see the following window:
"Open With
Click the program you want to open the file 'file' with"
5.17. In the top of the box put in a description you will be able to
find later. In this case put in "11i word type".
5.18. Go down on the list and find winword. Make sure that the Always
use this program to open this file is checked and click OK.

Note 119505.1I got this message when trying to use Excel 2003. I went to Microsoft's web site's community and entered the error message that you got. There was a solution offered that worked for me although I cannot remember now what it was. You might also try Microsoft's knowledge base for any possible answers for this problem. IMHO, I believe this is an Office 2003 problem and not an Acrobat problem.
I usually find the answers to problems such as these on Microsoft's web site. Good luck.

no delete permission grants and there is no user database sesssion concept.
The ODBC DSN for MYTABLE is setup as:
- Free Tables (not database)
- Null (checked)
- Deleted (checked)If you're using Visual Foxpro database(.DBC), you should see "Exclusive" option too. You can try check it, but I don't know whether your issue will disappear. -

I tried it in my application and it worked. Changing:

result.setProducer(rs.getString("producer"));
to:

made the exception disapear and now my code works fine. I still dont know
exactly where the problem comes from.

Problem converting .doc with "display_urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" properties
PDF Generator cannot convert a simple .doc document when there are properties with a name like "display_urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office#Editor". I think this is a property that some versions of MS Word add automatically.
If you try to convert the attached document, the result is the following:

Could this be a bug of PDFG?
Is there a workaround to convert this kind of file?

Yes, this could be a bug in LC. I verified that conversion was ok after removing the two properties. Conversion works fine with Acrobat as well. I have still not come across any other word document with these kind of properties embedded, so I am not sure where they come from.
I'd report this to Technical Support and have them investigate this.

Cs6 dreamweaver - javascript error with Clean up Word HTML . . .
Very recently upgraded to CS6 from CS5.5. Every now and then, I have to run the Clean up Word HTML Commands function for a client. Never had a problem before. This time, I got this message:
While executing onClick in Clean Up Word HTML.htm, the following JavaScript error(s) occurred:
At line 2012 of the "Macintosh HD:Applications:Adobe Dreamweaver CS6:Configuration:commans:Clean Up Word HTML.js"
The object is not currently contained in a document.
I searched through the Discussions and found refernce to deleting MacFileCache-###.dat file in the Library Configuration folder for Dreamweaver CS 6. Did that, same thing. It also mentioned deleted the entire Configuration folder. Same result.
I called tech support and was directed to go through the (count 'em) 14 steps on the Troubleshoot JavaScript page -- http://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/kb/troubleshoot-javascript-errors-dreamweaver-cs4.html. Still no luck.
Anyone else out there having this problem? What am I missing? Help!

I am talking to Word as a COM server in a program that makes documents with Word as the document engine.
The program can load Word on a user request or switch to Word if Word is already loaded. At different sites Word may use one or several Word Addins. All the addins are dotm files and are in the Word startup folder. Observations show Word takes approximately
10 seconds to load the addins. Fewer addins results in a shorter load time.
One addin has macros the program uses in making documents. One way to load Word on request and manage it is to wait 10 sec before talking to Word. I am wondering if there are better ways?
1. When Word is loading will it respond to core requests such as "Is AddIN ABC loaded?"
2. Is there a way to ask Word "Are you open for business?"Hi Russell
Well, one possible approach would be to start Word using a Command Line that does not load add-ins; you can find more information here:

Another one is to isolate a command that's causing problems (returning an error) and check for that error in a loop. When it no longer occurs, the assumption would be that Word is ready.

This isn't recommended or really supported, which is one reason Word doesn't expose the functionality you're looking for. The "correct" way to generate Word documents is to work directly with the Open XML file format, which doesn't require the

There does not seem to be a problem with the parameter separations, so if anyone can spot what I have done wrong I would appreciate it.

Java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Invalid ar
Hi, I'm getting an error in the eManager server log when running a load test:
Error executing prepared statement: sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcPreparedStatement@189ff39
java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Invalid argument.
I found this on the MS site concerning the 2GB size limitation for MDB files:

The RSWReport.mdb file is more than 2GB in size, so I'm assuming that this file is causing the problem.
Is there anyway to purge this file? Will compacting the file or splitting the file as MS recommends fix the problem?
JamesYou can always just create a new mdb file and run with that. I typically create a new MDB for each project I work on, or build of an app.
The windows ODBC controls will let you create a blank MDB file.
1. Start - Settings - Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Data Cources (ODBC)
2. Chose the reporter ODBC - click configure - create. I tend to name by date and project, etc.
3. In e-Load, chose Manage - Databases - New. In that window, chose 'Create e-Load tables in the database, give it a name, enter the DSN name, chose 'set as current e-Load database' and click ok.
You should be good to go with a clean MDB file. If I missed a step or the instructions aren't clear let me know.
SQL will give you better performance, but if its not an option managing the MDB files will help.
