JavaFX EJB 3.1 with Netbeans and GlassFish v3

Hi everyone.
I'm searching for a solution to connect my JavaFX WebApplication with EJB's.
It seems there is no information in the Web.
Basicly, is it possible?
has anyone a link or a small running example?
How can i deploy a JavaFX Application into an Enterprise Application.
Thanks for your response
Kind Regards

Since you can use regular java from javafx, it's not too difficult. Keep in mind javafx is more like a swing application than a servlet or jsp. It's an important factor when deciding how you want to connect. There are a couple options:
EJBs and the ACC
I'm sure it's possible to get the Glassfish ACC (application client container) integrated in some way, but haven't actually done it. I don't think it's a good solution for javafx since it it uses an extra port (3700 by default) for RMI communication. However, depending on your requirements, it may be a possibility.
REST
I'm fairly sure this will be the preferable approach for javafx and writing REST like services using Glassfish 3.1 is very easy. It's mostly annotation based. There's lots of documentation around the we for writing REST like services for Glassfish and I've seen several examples of how to consume those services in javafx. I don't have any links handy, so you'll have to do a bit of googling.
Most of the documentation about connecting a swing application to Glassfish is still relevant for javafx. I know you were looking for code samples, but I haven't seen many (or any) on the topic. Hopefully my info is enough to get you started.
Good luck,

  • Glassfish with NetBeans and Eclipse

    Hi,
    I have both NetBeans Java EE and Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers installed on my laptop. With NetBeans Java EE I have the installed the Glassfish and Tomcat server . Can I use/'integrate' this same Glassfish and Tomcat server with my Eclipse installation or is it advisable to install a "standalone" Glassfish &Tomcat server specific for my Eclipse environment?
    Thanks.
    Guy

    Hi!
    Yes you can integrate/use Glassfish and Tomcat with your Eclipse installation.
    For Glassfish support in Eclipse (assuming you are using Eclipse Luna) you have to install first: http://marketplace.eclipse.org/content/glassfish-tools-luna
    The integration is really simple: https://blogs.oracle.com/oepe/entry/getting_started_with_glassfish_4
    Hope hits help,
    Kind regards.

  • Which Way To Go? (ADF with Netbeans?, Glassfish in JDeveloper?)

    Hi there,
    I am new to the "Java for Web" branch - though I'm not that new to Java and J2EE itself. So far I've always used PHP for Web-stuff
    I have to write a Web Application (using Java EE 5 as backend) in JSF. Nothing too fancy - just a statistics tool (grabing data from the JPA-Entities, and displaying it in nice-looking charts)
    My problem is that I'm not really sure which way to go, since I have hardly any experience in this field (I did some JSP/Servlet stuff a while ago, but it was really painful)
    The application server is Glassfish V2 (SJSAS 9.1), database is Oracle 10g. Since I've used Netbeans for most of my Java stuff, I thought of using it for this project too, but when looking at JSF Implementations/Frameworks, a lot of people seem to like ADF Faces, while the other Implementations/Frameworks (obviously) aren't that great. However I couln't find any way to Integrate ADF in Netbeans (getting the ADF widgets/elements in the toolbox-palette of Netbeans). Using JDeveloper wouldn't be that bad (have used it too for some simple Swing-stuff), but I'm not sure on how well I can delploy/debug stuff in JDevelooper using Glassfish. - Is JDeveloper Java EE 5/EJB 3.0 ready? EJB 3.0 seems ok, but I tried creating a JSF Page, and I could only create one in Java EE 1.4 (JDeveloper version 10.1.3.2.0)
    I also had a look at PHP-like stuff in JSP/Servlets (like Phobos or Quercus), but they didn't seem to work that great :\
    Any ideas on how to approach this best?
    Thanks!

    Tim,
    Is JDeveloper Java EE 5/EJB 3.0 ready? EJB 3.0 seems ok, but I tried creating a JSF Page, and I could only create one in Java EE 1.4 (JDeveloper version 10.1.3.2.0)
    JSF support works in Java EE 1.4 and Java EE 5. However, JDeveloper uses JSF 1.1, not JSF 1.2 - which is what we support in JDeveloper 11. In regards to your requirement to create charts, ADF Faces does provide data visualization components in JDeveloper 11 - which currently is in developer preview and freely available on OTN. In JDeveloper 10.1.3 there are no graph components in ADF Faces.
    Since you want to use NetBeans and ADF doesn't work within this IDE I suggest you to have a look at Trinidad. Trinidad is an open source JSF component set originated from the ADF Faces code. Trinidad also has charting capabilities
    http://myfaces.apache.org/trinidad/index.html
    In JDeveloper 11, Trinidad is integrated within the JDeveloper IDE for declarative development with ADF. Not sure though if you find the same level of EJB /JPA support in Netbeans as you do in JDeveloper. However, you pick.

  • J2sdk 1.5 bundle with netbeans and

    After I installed java 1.5 bin file with netbeans bundle and did ...
    java at the command line
    I get this scripts echo
    #!/bin/sh
    #echo "libgcj-java-placeholder.sh"
    #echo
    #echo "This script is a placeholder for the /usr/bin/java and /usr/bin/javac"
    #echo "master links required by jpackage.org conventions. libgcj's"
    #echo "rmiregistry, rmic and jar tools are now slave symlinks to these"
    #echo "masters, and are managed by the alternatives(8) system."
    #echo
    #echo "This change was necessary because the rmiregistry, rmic and jar tools"
    #echo "installed by previous versions of libgcj conflicted with symlinks"
    #echo "installed by jpackage.org JVM packages."
    It compiles normally in netbeans but I still need to do it at the command line instead of getting this script? Should I just delete it?

    After I installed java 1.5 bin file with netbeans
    bundle and did ...
    java at the command line
    I get this scripts echo
    #!/bin/sh
    #echo "libgcj-java-placeholder.sh"
    #echoThat looks like something from the GNU GCC Java compiler. You'll need to uninstall that. This should be a package named "gcc-java". Running "rpm -e gcc-java" should do it, if you're using Linux.
    I wouldn't recommend just deleting the file, as there are probably a number of other files lying around which will conflict like this.
    Hope this helps.

  • Problem with netbeans and WTK.

    Hi I reinstalled my computer...
    I have installed "J2me with netbeans "
    when I am running my project (the build is ok)
    my emulator refuses to load or when it lodes it "fly" out after few seconds
    I traied to reinstall netbeans ,
    instaled WTK in a different folder (then inside netbeans)
    but nothings seems to work
    I am hopeless...
    PLz HELP!!!

    Hi Anvi,
    I think you posted in the right place as the J2ME SDK Team read this forum (though they sometimes don't respond promptly as we would have liked). I also got the same issue as you, but check out the responses by the J2ME SDK Team to: https://blogs.oracle.com/javamesdk/entry/update_java_me_sdk_through
    It seems there are issues with Netbeans 7.1, and they are fixing things for the next release for Netbeans 7.1.1 so I am sure they are aware of problems that we are encountering. Its fine for Netbeans 6.9/7 if you cannot wait though.

  • How to store data in JavaFX 1.2 Mobile with Storage and Resource API

    I'm need to store some numbers and strings in an application that will be deployed in a HTC HD2 device with JavaFX 1.2 When run on desktop, everything works perfectly. But after being installed in the device, the application won't store data in files. I thought JavaFX was able to do that, according to its documentation (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17802_01/javafx/javafx/1.2/docs/api/javafx.io/javafx.io.Storage.html)
    I do it like this (just the part that stores integers)
    public var availableGifts : Integer[] = [0,0,0];
    var highscoresFile = Storage {
    source: "AvailableGifts.txt"
    public function writeConfiguration() {
    try {
    var resource : Resource = configurationFile.resource;
    var outputStream : DataOutputStream = new DataOutputStream(resource.openOutputStream(true));
    outputStream.writeInt(availableGifts[0]);
    outputStream.writeInt(availableGifts[1]);
    outputStream.writeInt(availableGifts[2]);
    outputStream.flush();
    outputStream.close();
    println("Data stored!");
    } catch(ex : IOException) {
    ex.printStackTrace();
    The application is self-signed, just in case. But it won't store data in the mobile device... I need some help with this!

    Agh, the problem is not in how data is stored, because it IS being stored. The problem is that inputstream.available() seems to always return 0 in the mobile device, so the file seems to be empty.
    But that's a different problem.

  • Rendering issue with Netbeans and Firefox

    Very new at using JSF, in fact I am using it from Nebeans 6.1. Once I create the pages using the visual designer, in IE, for the most part they look as they were designed, however when I view them in Firefox, listbox seems to be the original size and spacing between components is larger than IE. Not sure how to fix this, any help appreciated.
    Edited by: robucf3 on Jun 4, 2008 8:35 AM

    I have read up on the two subjects and I have looked at the generated code, in fact I had to tweak some of it to get the CSS to work. In any case, is there anything specific for me to look at, some attribute that maybe needs setting, etc?
    Found this:
    # Issue #95022: Resizing of textfield and other components does not work.
    Description: Due to a change in Woodstock components, resize handles have been removed from the following Woodstock components: TextField, TextArea,PasswordField, DropDown and ListBox. This issue impacts especially projects imported from Java Studio Creator and NetBeans Visual Web Pack 5.5/5.5.1. Resized components may look different from how they looked in previous releases.
    Workaround: For TextField and TextArea components, use the columns and rows attributes, respectively. DropDown and ListBox components are automatically resized to the size of the longest item by the browser.

  • Calling Glassfish jdbc Datasorce in EJB 3.0 with @Resource annotation.

    I tried EJB 3.0 with netbeans and glassfish and "{color:#ff0000}+_ORACLE_+{color}". I wanted to link the oracle database to GLASSFISH server and I followed the instructions.After I clicked 'ping' button, it displayed as *{color:#339966}'PING SUCCEED".{color}*
    But I couldn't call my datasource from the eje stateless session bean with @Resource annotation.It resulted a dependency injection exception. Can some one tell me how to do this properly.
    {color:#ff0000}Thanks in Advance!!!!{color}

    Frank, yes, I can modify if it is necessary the datasource but, how can I say in the xxxx-jdbc.xml not to use JTA transactions when this data source is called inside a ejb 3.0 method?
    I'm using Jdev11g and the integrated Web Logic Server.

  • Netbeans and JavaFX

    I am new to Netbeans and am only using it for the JavaFX integration (IntelliJ user) so I am not sure if I am dealing with my ignorance of Netbeans or some JavaFX idiosyncrasy.
    However, when I try to organize my JavaFX code into package structure (rather than using a single default package) and go to run it I get NoClassDef exceptions on my main class. It looks like netbeans automatically packages up the files into a jar and runs it from a jar. I took a peek inside the generated jar and Netbeans is not maintaining the package structure inside the jar it is just putting all the classes at the root of the jar (hence the NoClassDefs).
    How can I get Netbeans to maintain the package structure inside the jar?
    Does JavaFX use the "package" keyword the same way as Java does?

    Yep, after I was able to get my classes in a package structure (rather than default package) I discovered that.
    I couldn't at first get my classes out of the default package. I am spoiled by IntelliJ which changes/adds package statements when you move classes. Netbeans did not automatically add the package statement when I moved from the default package to a package structure. Nor did it warn me that the classes were missing a package statement and/or the package statement didn't match its package location.
