JavaFX's files possibilities

Hey, I'm going to learn JavaFX, I saw some examples, but I'd like to know, what can be potentially done with files (txt, xml, images, audio, video, ...).
1. Please, join a,b,c,d with A,B, if it is possible. Discuss any barriers and reasons.
I'd like to see some examples / tutorials / book tips.
An JavaFX applet can ...
a) load file from a client's location (selected by person on client side)
b) load file from a web server location (selected by the person on a client side)
c) search files by some attributes in a database and load one or more selected files (for editing on client side)
d) load file from url
e) create a new file
AND
A) edit file(s) on a client side and save them to a client's location
B) edit file(s) on a client side and save them to a web server location
2. Are there some differences in this between desktop (launch) version and browser version?
Thank you!

Yes, you can...

  • JavaFX 2.2 not installing after JDK7u6 installation on Windows 7 x64

    Please everybody ignore this message of mine, I've had a D'OH! moment! This new installation of JDK7u6 has completely thrown me
    because of the existing documentation, as some of the documentation still states the following:
    http://docs.oracle.com/javafx/2/installation_2-2/javafx-installation-windows.htm#CJGGCFBH
    As on this page it still has the following documented:
    +"Installing JavaFX+
    +Note:+
    +Only one version of the JavaFX SDK and JavaFX Runtime can be installed at a time. The JavaFX Runtime installer will automatically uninstall previous versions.+
    +Run the .exe file of whichever installer you downloaded. If you use a bundled installer, the installers run in the following order:+
    +Java Development Kit (JDK)+
    +Java Runtime Environment (JRE)+
    +JavaFX Software Development Kit (SDK)+
    +JavaFX Runtime+
    +The default installation directory for the JavaFX 2.2 SDK is C:\Program Files\Oracle\JavaFX 2.2 SDK. See JavaFX SDK File Structure for the directories and contents.+
    +The default installation directory for the JavaFX 2.2 Runtime is C:\Program Files\Oracle\JavaFX 2.2 Runtime."+
    And I guess I was still expecting to see the JavaFX installer following the JDK installer during installation. When this didn't happen I was searching my system for the
    above installation path C:\Program Files\Oracle\JavaFX 2.2, and of course I had no entry for this, hence my earlier post. Talk about a trap for young players!
    I installed both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions of the JDK 7 update 6 SDK. Both installed JDK7u6 successfully, but both failed to initialise
    the JavaFX 2.2 installation wizard. I've checked through Control Panel and JDK7u6 are listed there, but no mention of JavaFX 2.2 anywhere?
    Before installation I made sure to uninstall JavaFX 2.1 from the Control Panel before installing JDK7u6. So what do I do now?

    @863626:
    I actually did the same as you did: I uninstalled the JDK, the JRE, and JavaFX before installing JDK 7u6, and the JDK 7u6 installer installed the JDK and the JRE, but not JavaFX.
    After reading the info you quoted in your post, I tried the following: uninstall everything, reinstall the 7u5 kit, which installed JavaFX 2.1.1, then uninstall the JDK and JRE 7u5 but leave JavaFX there, and reinstall JDK 7u6.
    The JDK and JRE 7u6 were properly reinstalled, but the JavaFX installation was not upgraded to 2.2.0 as expected.
    Moreover, I noticed that in the windows displayed after the JRE 7u5 is installed, the button present at the bottom is labelled "Continue" and leads to the JavaFX installation wizard.
    In the equivalent window of the JDK/JRE 7u6 installer, the button present at the bottom is labelled "Close" and terminates the wizard without installing any JavaFX kit or component.
    Conclusion: You did not have a D'OH moment — the JDK 7u6 installer either really misses the JavaFX kit or really has a bug in its installation sequence!
    And by the way, I reproduced the bug with the 64-bit Windows installer on a 64-bit Windows 7 platform.
    Anyone at Oracle can help?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

  • Problem in Installing JavaFX for NetBeans 6.0.1

    Hi ,
    I am using NetBeans6.0.1. The problem I am facing while installing/updating JavaFX plug-in in NetBeans6 is that the system is watched by network firewall.
    NetBeans is unable to retrieve information about the updates as firewall doesn't allows it to do so.
    I badly need JavaFX plugin installer(I hope it is something like javaFX.nbm file) so that I can update it offline by searching it through Downloaded tab in the plugin window.
    Please don't give me this link ( https://openjfx.dev.java.net/javafx-nb60-plugin-install.html ) to update my NetBeans for JavaFX.
    If there is any option to update NetBeans for JavaFX, do let me know.
    Also, why have you given just one option for installing JavaFX Plug-in in NetBeans??
    I am eagerly waiting for reply.
    PS NetBeans6 doesn't highlights(active) Updates and Available Plug-in's in the plugin window.

  • JavaFx & Java Code

    Hi!!
    I'm student, and i want to develope an application for my HTC Diamond using Location API 179. My phone dont support this API with many JVM like Jbed... but with JavaFx Mobile Emulator y can develop this type of application!!!!
    There are various things that i want know, first of all i have saw that JavaFx uses JavaFx Script code to run, and i want to develop the application using Java code, can i do that? if i work with java code, my mobile will support all API's?
    And other question is that i want to use JavaFx interfaces using Photoshop and call to Java Classes to process, this is posible??
    Thank's a lot, and sorry about my speeling, i'm spanish and i dont use english usually!!!

    You can do most of your application on Java. Probably limited to [MIDP 2.0|http://java.sun.com/javame/reference/apis/jsr118/] (the most common profile for phones) or whatever profile your mobile implements. So, no, you can't use the full Java API (or all the libraries), only a subset.
    Now, you still have to learn JavaFX script (it isn't so hard) to design the user interface and the interactions.
    About Photoshop: there is the JavaFX production suite which provides plugins for Photoshop and Illustrator. Not sure exactly what they do, as I don't have these softwares. But with that, you can generate FXD (or FXZ, the compressed kind) files which are basically JavaFX resource files (in JavaFX script) you can use in your JavaFX application. But you still have to write some JavaFX code to manage them.
    But as said above, your JavaFX interface can heavily rely on a pure Java back-end.

  • Javafx JAR to .exe(windows) or .app (MAC)

    hi,
    Anybody has any idea how can i import my javafx application to an installation file for MAC or Windows?
    For example, MAC has a jar bundler app which convert java jar to .app files for MAC.
    I tried with it, but it fails, i have no idea how to make it run javafx jar files.

    I've looked throughout the forum but I've only found
    how to call an executable from within the java code,
    but not convert it into an exe.
    And about googling it, I found few (maybe not using
    the correct keywords, any suggestion?), and they
    don't quite work well, so, just asking if any of you
    have had success with one and, what is the name of
    it.
    Thx.can't have looked very far, then. the definitive answer to this question has been posted several times, quite recently
    the real question, though, should be "do I want to bind my nice portable java code to a particular platform?"

    Install Java 7 for Mac from Oracle. I believe it includes JavaFX SDK and i think double-click on JavaFX jar file should be able to find it (though i had not validated it myself recently).

  • What is the issue with Java 7 Update 6 windows installer?

    Hi guys,
    I know that this is not the forum to ask Java Installation issue, but I couldn't find a forum that specifically deals with such issues. Also, as the issue in hand concerns JavaFx, I thought it appropriate to post the question here. Let me begin...
    I ran the installer for JDK 7 Update 6 on my Windows 7 64-bit machine, and it installed Java successfully, but no JavaFX SDK. So I uninstalled it, and ran the installer again, and it produced the same output i.e. Java installation O.K. but no JavaFX. It also didn't show any error message.
    Puzzled, I looked at the system requirements for JavaFX 2.2, and it says SP1 for Windows 7. Sure my Windows 7 is not updated to SP1 yet, but JavaFX 2.1.1 was successfully installed on it, and it had same requirement ie. SP1. Since my numerous attempts to update to Windows 7 SP1 failed, I downloaded and installed separate installer for JavaFX 2.2, which the Oracle site says is for Java 6 only. Now, I am able to compile and run JavaFX 2.2 applications on my system without any problem. It has left me puzzled because if JavaFX 2.2 is compatible with my system, then why the JDK installer for 1.0.7_06 is not able to install JavaFX?
    Are other users facing the same issue?
    -Dinesh

    Check JDK folder. You should see jre/lib/jfxrt.jar there.Yes it is there. And in Netbeans IDE, I specified the JDK home folder where it asks for JavaFX SDK folder location, and it accepted it; the IDE found all the required JavaFX SDK files in that folder as it is able to compile the program without any problem.
    Thanks for pointing me to the right direction. All the while I was looking for the folder named "JavaFX 2.2 SDK", and not founding one, assumed it to be some problem with the installer.
    Thanks again.

    Solved the problem locally. It appears that one of the related projects copied an older version of the javafx jar file from our repository because the project had the checkbox for copying dependent libraries selected. Meanwhile the JDK is using the latest JDK. The apparent conflict was resolved by unselecting the copy dependent libraries checkbox in the properties window for that project.

  • Signed Jars

    I have a web based project that includes numerous iamges. As a result of the images I must sign the jar files. However, to date I have been unsuccessful. I have reviewed the threads and deployment information and would appreciate a straightforward way to accomplish this with Net Beans (the signing function there has not worked for me as well). I would appreciate any assistance.

    If you can place the images inside your jar file and load them from there or place them on a server that hosts crossdomain.xml (*exactly* this file http://static.flickr.com/crossdomain.xml) in the root directory of it's domain, then you do not need to sign your jar file. If you cannot do either of these things and the images must be hosted on a different server than the one hosting your jars, then read on.
    Do not try to use the javafxpackager command line tool to sign jars as that does not currently work => this issue can be tracked here: http://javafx-jira.kenai.com/browse/RT-18246
    Signing documentation is here =>
    http://docs.oracle.com/javafx/2.0/deployment/packaging.htm#BABJGFBH
    http://docs.oracle.com/javafx/2.0/deployment/javafx_ant_task_reference001.htm#CIAFJGAB
    But you have already read all that.
    Signing requires the following steps.
    1. Generate a Certificate Signing Request (CSR).
    2. Submit the CSR to a Certificate Authority (CA).
    3. The CA will generate a code signing certificate for you.
    4. Package your application as a bunch of jar files.
    5. Sign the jar files using your code signing certificate.
    If you are just using a self signed certificate and you are already using NetBeans, then NetBeans can do all of this for you.
    Here are the steps I used to sign a JavaFX project consisting of multiple Jar files using NetBeans nightly build 201112120600
    1. Right click Project and choose Properties.
    2. Project Properties | Libraries | Compile |Add Library... and add your dependent jars.
    3. Project Properties | Packaging
    Check Compress JAR File
    Check Build JAR after Compiling
    Check Copy Dependent Libraries
    Do not check Binary Encode JavaFX CSS Files as that might be buggy.
    4. Project Properties | Deployment
    Check Request unrestricted access
    Signing Certificate: Edit...
    a) choose Self-signed by a generated key OR
    b) use your own keystore if you have a certificate from a trusted public CA.
    Download Mode for Libraries: Use the mix of eager and lazy appropriate for your app. Signing wise, it doesn't matter as all of the jars need to be signed anyway.
    5. Project Properties | Run
    Configuration | New... | Configuration Name => enter browser
    Application Class | Browse... choose your Application's main class.
    Check Use Preloader if you have one (the preloader jar will be signed). If you are having difficulties with basic signing, get that to work first before enabling the Preloader.
    Select Run | in Browser
    Set a Width and Height for the page.
    Leave Web Page empty until you get an empty web page with your app in it to work.
    Choose the Web Browser you want to launch the app in.
    Press OK.
    6. Select the browser config from the drop down combo and hit the run arrow.
    Netbeans will compile your app, package it, generate a self signed certificate, sign all of your application's jars and launch the application in a browser.
    A trick to getting all of the above to work more than one time, is to make sure that you close the browser tab after you have finished testing and before you try to run again, otherwise NetBeans seems to fail with weird errors because the distribution files get locked by the app running inside the browser under Windows.
    If you are still stuck, you can try opening this JavaFX project which uses self-signed jars in NetBeans 7.1 RC2 or later => http://willow-browser.googlecode.com/files/willow-src-prerelease-0.1-netbeans-project.zip

  • Kylene please help!

    I tried to restore my ipod.
    And I got this message:
    "There was a probelm downloading the software for the ipod. The requested resource was not found."
    What am I suppose to do?
    I cannot update my ipod at ALL.
    It takes forever to connect to the computer, and then once connected it tells me my ipod is corrupt. Please help, Im very upset.

    Sorry for the delay, SyLviiA.
    Okay, this error message can be a bit difficult, since it most always relates to connecting to the iPod itself as opposed to the iPod software update server.
    I'm not sure what you've tried, but even if you have tried something, it wouldn't be a bad idea to just try attempting it again, to see if it works now. Let's start out trying a few things here:
    - Connect the iPod in disk mode. With your iPod disconnected from your computer, force it into disk mode. For instructions, see:
    Putting iPod into disk mode
    Then, after you've got the iPod in disk mode, connect it to your computer, and attempt to restore it.
    - Update your USB drivers. Make sure that your USB drivers are up-to-date. And, in some cases, you may need to reinstall those drivers. For details, see this:
    iPod is not recognized properly by computer when USB drivers are not installed properly or are out of date
    - Connect your iPod to a rear port. Make sure that you are connecting your iPod to a rear port. Also, it would be best if the iPod were connected to a 2.0 USB port, as opposed to 1.1.
    - The Five Rs. Try the first four steps listed here: The Five Rs
    <hr width="75%">
    Now, if none of the above worked, let's go ahead and explore the connecting to the Internet, or iPod software files, possibilities:
    - Turn off your firewall. With your iPod disconnected from your computer, switch your firewall/antispyware settings to OFF. Then, connect it to your computer, and try restoring the iPod.
    - See this suggestion from a Knowledge Base article. Make sure that your "Automatically detect settings" option is selected. Check out this for more info.
    - Try deleting your iPod software updates folder. While this folder may not exsist on your computer, since no iPod software updates were generated, go ahead and try deleting it.
    See this: What to do if iPod can't be updated because the firmware file was corrupt or not found
    Any success with any of those things?
    -Kylene

  • Applet loading Api?

    Hi,
    is there a way to somehow replace original java spinning logo during applet loading with something else, and also is there a way to control the applet loading via some kind of api?
    my second question is, is there an api to load one javaFX bin file into another and access its classes via API? so basically not just load as a stream of bytes but so that loader can talk to it afterward?
    and all that durring runtime?
    if anybody knows relative info, blog, or discussion I would appreciate if you can share it
    regards

    This "string parameter" is doing exactly what you ask for: "+replace original java spinning logo during applet loading with something else+"...
    I also remember a blog article telling how to use a small applet to show a complex load screen, then to be substituted with the larger final applet, but I don't recall where I saw that.

  • Can't run JavaFX app as a jar file from command line

    I'm trying to build a JavaFX app from scratch (that is, by including the jar file from the JavaFX SDK rather than by using the special JavaFX project type from NetBeans). It runs fine in NetBeans. However, when I try to launch it as a jar file from the command line (using "java -jar dist\TestApp") I get the following. Unsatisfied link means that Java is trying to access a native library, but it cannot be found. As to why this error is being thrown, here is my guess:
    If you open up one of the sample jars with a zip viewer, you will see that the Manifest file has the following entries:
    >
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    JavaFX-Version: 2.0
    implementation-vendor: Oracle
    implementation-title: BrickBreaker
    implementation-version: 1.0
    JavaFX-Application-Class: brickbreaker.Main
    Created-By: JavaFX Packager
    Main-Class: com/javafx/main/Main
    >
    In other words, a JavaFX project works a bit differently than a normal Java project. com/javafx/main/Main is used as the Main class and your "Main" class is called later.
    If you are trying to build this from a normal Java project, then com/javafx/main/Main will not be created and it will call your Main class right away. Thus, whatever setup is needed to run JavaFX will not occur.

    How to load images from css file in JavaFX 8 - Stack Overflow

    There is nothing special to do - you execute the statement from your program just like any other SQL statement.  The only thing to be aware of are the privilege/permission issues:
    When loading from a file on a client computer:
    READ CLIENT FILE privilege is also required for the database user.
    Read privileges are required on the directory being read from.
    The allow_read_client_file database option must be enabled.
    The read_client_file secure feature must be enabled.
    Revoking these privileges is also the only way you can prevent a user from executing the statement.

  • Deploying my first JavaFX file as an Applet not working :o(

    Hi guys,
    basically the issue I am having is that when I run my project in NetBeans with the default setting, it runs fine, however, when I run it as a Applet, it brings up the Java loading spash image, then turns into a grey box.
    I am new to JavaFX, where I work, I have written some code which generates a Gantt chart in SVG. However it has been decided as Adobe SVg is now unsupported and IE doesn't support SVG natively we have to move to an alternative. The code is written in Java to get the various data to render the Gantt chart and having read half a book on JavaFX thought I'd give JavaFX a go to try to see if I can replicate the SVG Gantt.
    So this is HTML file NetBeans generates...
    <html>
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8">

    def projectId:String =  FX.getArgument("0") as String;

    var calculatedGanttData: ChartData = ganttHelper.getGanttChartData();

    var calendarNodes: java.util.ArrayList = calculatedGanttData.getCalendarLayoutData();
    def maxHeightScroll = (((tasklist.size() * 16) + GanttChartConstants.CALENDAR_HEADER_HEIGHT + 100) *-1) + 600;
    def yScrollNeeded:Boolean = (maxHeightScroll > 0);
    def maxRightScroll = GanttChartConstants.HOVER_BOX_WIDTH + 20;I included that portion as it interacts with other Java code and the examples on the web just dont do this so thought maybe this section might be causing problems for the applet, although in the jnlp file, the includes are there for the refrenced classes. Also as mentioned before, just want to re confirm that this code works fine in default mode, Java Web Start in Netbeans seems to hang although I have no need for it to work with JWS.
    Any ideas what is wrong, I have been googling like mad and just can't find out what is wrong, so any help very much appriacated.
    thanks,
    Dale

    Thanks guys its working now, funnily enough it wasn't a problem with the codebase, although I have changed that afterwards, it was the FX.getArgument bit!
    So its rendering now so im happy, couple of questions more, hop you dont mind...
    javafx(
    archive: "WFMT-JavaFX.jar",
    width: 800,
    height: 500,
    code: "com.btwholesale.wfmt.handlers.gantt.Gannt",
    name: "WFMT-JavaFX"
    1) How do I pass a parameter into this?
    2) Can I specfy an ID of a DIV to load the applet into rather than in just appending to the document? I'm pretty sure I could modify the code to make it do this, but this must be a fairly common thin so I'm guessing tis already done.
    Thanks
    Dale

    }

    I'm not looking for a "tutorial created especially for me".... Just perhaps someone that can copy and paste some code from a similar project that they have done so I understand how to do it.
    You could have simply put here's a tutorial for how to use TweenLite to crossfade between four pages, and here's one that will let you pass information between two .swf files. If you recently watched the tutorials then it wouldn't take long to find them (maybe you have them bookmarked) and post a couple links.
    Anyways, I just found an excellent tutorial on how to crossfade using TweenLite (found here) and an article that explains how to pass information from one .swf to another (here). It took some searching and knowing exactly what I was looking for to find them, but that's a much better answer for someone looking to do those two things than I've found here (or elsewhere for that matter).
