JavaScript functions across the forms?

Hello,
We are developing set of forms using LiveCycle Designer. The forms are complex and need some involved JavaScripts. I found great feature where we can insert a script object to hold common JavaScript functions and use those anywhere in the form. However, as I need to create some 35 such forms, I was wondering if there is any way of creating a library of JavaScript functions that I can use for all the forms. I.e. I do not want to create Javascript Object per form but want to find out if I can have one JavaScript object that I can reference from all the forms?

Feeling especially lazy today, I thought I'd try asking rather than testing this to find the answer. How does updating scripts in the library work? If I have multiple forms that use a script from the Fragment Library, when I tweak the script and save it, does the tweak change the script in all the forms? If so, does this happen upon reopenning each form in Designer? (i.e. each form still has to be reopened in Designer for the tweak to happen, right?). I feel like an idiot asking, but I'm long in lazyness this miserable, damp, dreary morning in Wisconsin. Even my little dog's energy has waned today.

I want to trigger JavaScript function that I have written in form from Action: buttons in workspace user's account.
Is there any way that if i hit a button on action bar, it fire a javascript function.
Reason is: I dont want to place button on the form to perform any action on the form. I want to take control of the form from these buttons. Like submit, edit a form, etc, etc..
Please let me know if i couldnt explain it properly.

Sunil, you want to look at the "Customizing the LiveCycle® Workspace ES User Interface" document at http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/9.0/customizeworkspaceui.pdf. The workspace is a Flash component. For ES4 there's an option to run the workspace in HTML5 which might be more productive long-term.

Write javascript function in the mime repository

Hey all,
I Wrote a javascript functions inside the WAD html, and it works great.
Now I want to distribute this code to many WAD's.
I belive that the right way is to move the code to the mime repository and call it from the WAD's.
How can I Call a function in a file.js file that exists in the se80?

Try thowing this line in your <head> tag:

When you refer to your javascript, just use
<script type="text/javascript">
//Javascript here
</script>
There are also caching issues when using javascript. After you make a change to your file, use TCODE smicm. In TCODE SMICM, from the file menu... Goto->HTTP Server Cache->Invalidate->Global in System. This will invalidate the cache so you can see your new changes.

How to execute a javascript function in the body onload?

Hi everyone!
As you know in the HTML body attribute. You must specify the value of onload
What is the correct sintaxis for execute a function since in the onload body?
I only want to do some like this, but only I do it in APEX:
<body onload ="javascript:namefunction();" >
I do not know how to use #ONLOAD# when you using want to set some value.
Could u help me please ?

There is no HTML Header on Page Zero. The equivalent would be to use the page template.
It's also possible to place JavaScript in HTML regions on Page Zero, but I wouldn't consider this a good practice. JavaScript is better kept in external files and referenced using the SRC attribute.

Calling of javascript function in the method

Creating and submitting forms in embedded PDF, can I submit data to a js function on the parent HTML

I am trying to create an interactive PDF form for use in an educational activity. It is basically in the form of a lecure with quiz questions in the mix. I see how to create a drop down list or select list in Acrobat pro, and I see how to either submit a form or execute a javascript when an item is selected.
What I want to do is submit the response that the user has selected and process that on the server or send the data to a js fuinction on the parent page for processing. The latter option would be preferred. I do not want to display the response in the browser, which is what seems to happen if you use the form submit option. The data that I am interested in is just the form name and the export value, which I can configure when I create the form. Initially, this would probably be just a 0 or 1 for incorrect or correct. So I really just need 2 data, maybe 3 data values. The form name, the 0 or 1, and the name of the pdf document. I am embedding the PDF document as an object in a PHP/HTML page. I can make a javascript function on the parent page that processes the data. I am writing the responses to a MySQL server that has the users name (account system on the parent page), and I would then record the PDF page name, the field name (which question) and the response (0 or 1).
Seems like it should not be that hard, but I am not to familar with Javascript scripting within a PDF document and how that works.

You should just set up the form to submit directly to the server from the PDF. The server can then return an essentially empty response (status code 204 no content).

The javascript functions are working correctly, but still get scripting error messages

When you open or run any javascript functions in this form, error messages pop up, but functions work correctly. Anyone that can help me get rid of error messages? Screenshots are attached.

How to call javascript function when form load[like onload="fun()" in html]

I have to call javascript function at the time of iview is loading. I am not able use onload event which is not working in SAP Portal environment. Please suggest me any other alternative to call the function at the time of iview is loading. I have to set some properties when form is loading.

Let us take two pages
1. Main Page (A)
2. Child page (B)
       I have displayed records in tableview and each having checkbox and two buttons "print" and "viewDetails" at down in page A. If I clicked "print" button the records which i have selected checkboxes details will be displayed in new window( page B). In page B i have given this following code

Binding to a javascript function is not working

I am trying to use the following code to bind to a javascript
function and it's not working. I finally had to use jQuery to bind
the event handler, but I would like to see the CF generated stuff
work. Am I missing something here?

Binding is not restricted to flash forms. I can bind directly
to a cfc without problems, but in this case I need to send more
info to the cfc than a single field would provide. You're supposed
to be able to bind to a javascript function using the syntax above,
but it's not working properly.

This error has nothing to do with Forms, it is an JavaScript error.
Most likely cause is this line

How can we assign a JavaScript function on an TextInput action .

I have a requirement that on ON_BLUR event of a MessageStyledText , I have to call a JavaScript function .
This however should not refresh the page ( No submit action to the controller) .
So how can we tie the JavaScript function to the TextInput at design time .

but the functions don't work, why is this?

Passing JSP into JavaScript function

I have a database table containing a date for the end of an auction, I am able to successfully take the date from the database but I am having problems passing it and casting it to a date object within a javascript function. The purpose of the function is to begin a countdown to the passed in date. Any suggestions? The countdown function i have only works with a hard coded date object.

Looks like everyone's having a countdown problem.....

Anyway, there're what you can do. Write out the Date object in JSP as a Javascript Date, two ways to achieve that:
1, mydate.getTimeStamp() is should return a long value, time in millisec, so
var mDate = new Date(<%= myDate.getTimeStamp()%>);
2. a lil messy, use DateFormatter to format the sql.Date, this gives you a Date in Strint form. Do remember the exact API for the DataFormater, but something like this.
var mDate = new Date("<%= DateFormatter.format(myDate) %>");
I'd prefer the 1st approach, why changing a Date to String then just change to Date again....Also watch out the TimeZone stuff and Daylight saving time....have fun.
