Javascript generated stamp in Acrobat

I'm using JavaScript to generate an approval stamp on a form... The code I'm using is:
this.addAnnot({type:"Stamp", page:0, rect: [500,110,190,140], AP: "#DApproved"})
Seems to work just fine, but I have no idea how to work with the coordinates of rect: [  ...  Wondering if someone can help me out figuring out what these numbers are, and how to move the stamp around on the page...  I just can't seem to find the correlation of location based on those numbers.
Any advice?   Thanks so much!

This sounds like the best bet Gilad... if I could just position it, get the coordinates it provides and then code it in; that will save me a lot of time.
I found the following code which I think is doing what you say - Output the rect properties to the console...
function findRect() {
var fRect = this.getField("ToolTipBack.Page 1");
var rRect = fRect.rect;
console.println(rRect);
However, it appears that it is looking for the rect with a name (ToolTipBack) but my placed stamps don't seem to have a name for me to replace that with... Would this go in a button action as well?

  • Can I create a custom-scripted dynamic stamp in Acrobat Standard or do I have to buy Acrobat Pro?

    I am researching options for the company I work for to take it's invoicing system paperless and I need to know if I can create a custom-scripted dynamic stamp in Acrobat Standard or is that possible only in Acrobat Pro?

    You can create a custom dynamic stamp in Std. and Pro. and you can use the dynamic stamp in Reader as well. Here is an infographic on Creating a Custom Dynamic Stamp in Acrobat XI.

  • Dynamic stamps with Acrobat Pro X

    Help needed!
    How to create own dynamic stamps with Acrobat Pro X, without any knowledge of programming.
    It was very easy with the program used before (Nuance); unfortunally it's not possible to export from Nuance to Acrobat.
    Thanks in advance

    It can't be done without using a script, and not a very simple one, either.
    There are detailed tutorials about how to do it, for example here:

  • Custom Stamping in Acrobat X

    Our organization relies heavily on the usage of the Stamp tool, we have over 100 custom stamps created which enables us to be a paperless environment.  Here's the problem, in the new Acrobat X, Adobe removed the "names" of the custom stamps in the drop down.  So now you only see the stamp instead of the name.  We have some very large stamps, and some that are very similar but are used in completely different cases.  Does anyone know if it is possible to show the names of the custom stamps in Acrobat X?  This is such a huge deal to us, we won't be able to use any new versions of Acrobat unless this is possible!

  • Making a dynamic stamp in Acrobat 10

    I tried to follow the instructions for making a dynamic stamp in Acrobat 9 for use in Acrobat 10, but my stamp is static, not dynamic. The date and time stayed the same as when I made it. What is the trick to make this happen. It's very frustrating that it is so hard to make a dynamic stamp. Thank for any assistance anyone can provide.

    I've not done that, but here are some links which may help you:

  • Item Renderers Preview and JavaScript Generator wizard

    Hi all,
    there are 2 feature I can't seem to get my hand on on the
    latest Beta release of FB3 (Beta 3): Item Renderers Preview and
    JavaScript Generator wizard.
    Can anyone elaborate on how to get these started? how can I
    check'em out? are they in the Beta 3 at all or are they supposed to
    come out only in the final release. As far as now I wasn't able to
    find any information on both on the web aside from what Matt Chotin
    wrote on the "What's new" and on the FB3 Wiki.
    cheers.

    Hello Heike,
    Well I have been working on this and wanted some more information regarding one of the possible issues.
    As I have been telling you that I have dropdown boxes and based on the values that the user selects corresponding report should run.(I have eight drop down box and five push buttons)
    Now I have made the selection in the drop down boxes "multiple".
    I am generating the url for all the selected values. Like I have a drop down box whose value is 0SALES_OFF. if the user selects three options for this filter say "A", "B" and "C" and hits one of the push buttons , the query runs fine and filters the value. The only problem lies in the drop down box: it shows "A","B" and "C" as selected values in the drop down box, however this is just a display text and its value is"!unchanged". Now if the user wants to keep the same filter value the value that is being used for the selection is "!unchanged" instead of "A","B" and "C".
    I think this code is generated by SAP.Can you give me some insight as to where should I make certain changes so that values persists?
    Personally, I feel this is a more cumbersome method than using the standard navigation block..but still .I am client site...
    Thanks and Regards

  • Importing Existing Stamps into Acrobat 9

    Does anyone know how to load up an existing list of stamps into Acrobat 9? I know how to create and edit stamps. What I am trying to achieve is to simply cut and paste an esiting folder containing custom stamps into a new installation of acrobat 9. Previous versions of acrobat allowed you to do this by pasting your folder into the ENU/Stamps folder but this does not seem to be the same with Acrobat 9.

    Hi George,
    Thanks for your prompt response. I have not yet tried to paste anything into Acrobat 9. I am in the process of changing a user across from their old machine that uses Acrobat 7 to a new machine using Acrobat 9 and thought there must be a way to get their existing Acrobat 7 stamps transferred without having to re-create each one in Acrobat 9.
    Any suggestions would be helpful.
    Kind regards,

  • How to passw protect my pdf files generated by Adobe Acrobat?

    I simply want to passw protect my pdf files generated by Adobe Acrobat. However the option as indicated by the helpdesk is not available in my pdf generator. I am working with apple? Can someone tell me how to pass protect my files?
    Can some one help me out here?

    Hi josr,
    You can password protect your files in Adobe Acrobat by choosing File > Properties when you have the PDF open, and clicking the Security tab. Here is a Help topic that goes into detail: Acrobat Help | Securing PDFs with passwords.
    If you don't have Acrobat, you're welcome to give it a try! Feel free to download a 30-day trial from http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html.

  • Why does working with Stamps cause Acrobat Pro XI to crash on close

    Although other people in my organization have been experiencing crashes several times a day with Acrobat Pro XI (usually from stamping PDFs and closing Acrobat), I've just started receiving crashes after working on custom Stamps. This hasn't happened before to me. What is so special about the stamps that might be causing these crashes?
    Our users using Acrobat for scanning receive the crash message "Adobe Acrobat has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
    Any suggestions will be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Charlie

    Hi George - a few divisions have stamps with JavaScript to query user to enter a date and time document was stamped. Most of the users do not. Just a set of static signature and File stamps. The File stamps have fields that contain custom calculation scripts to always display the current date and time of stamping. This was never a problem in Acrobat 9 Pro, though. Some crashes have occured just scanning through Acrobat without touching the stamps. Thanks for the quick reply and would appreciate if you have any more I can look into.

  • How do I flatten a custom stamp in Acrobat XI?

    I use a custom stamp made from a scanned signature for signing documents.  There was a simple flatten function in the Document menu of Acrobat X that quickly merge the signature into the document.  I do see such a function in Acrobat XI.  I use Windows 7.  Any suggestions?

    By the way, that blog post above doesn't make it clear that this folder isn't created by default when you install Acrobat, so if it's not present, you have to create the ..\Acrobat\Privileged\11.0\JavaScripts folder manually and place the script file there.

  • HOW TO CREATE A DYNAMIC STAMP ON ACROBAT X PRO????????

    I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO CREATE A  CUSTOM DYNAMIC STAMP ON ADOBE ACROBAT X PRO, I CAN EASILY CREATE A STAMP FROM A pdf FILE BUT WHEN TRYING TO INSERT A TEXT OR CHECK BOXES THEY DO NOT GET ATTACHED TO MY NEWLY CREATED STAMP WHEN I SELECT THAT STAMP ON THE STAMPS PALETE, PLEASE HELP AS ADOBE ACROBAT ONLINE SUPPORT EXEMPT THEMSELVES FROM SUPPORTING WHAT THEY CALLED "OLDER VERSIONS"

    If you need the kind of advanced dynamic stamp that it seems you want, one that prompts you for data to include in the stamp just prior to it being applied to the page, it will require JavaScript. In particular, it will likely best be done with a custom dialog, which requires some rather arcane scripting. I usually advise folks in your position to find someone to do this for you, at least for the first stamp. Feel free to send a PM if you'd like professional help.
    The following book has more information about custom stamps, but lacks much information about the type of dynamic stamp that you're wanting to create: http://www.amazon.com/About-Stamps-Acrobat%C2%AE-Paperless-Workflows/dp/0985614706
    That last part isn't a criticism of the book, which is very good. Custom dialogs are complicated, and using them with stamps adds more complication, so the subject really needs a book of its own to be handled thoroughly.

  • Can I add a hyperlink to a stamp in acrobat pro ?

    I'm working with blueprints in pdf format and I have created stamps to place on the drawings. I want to add a hyperlink to these stamps to link to another file or document. I can do this by "overlaying" the hyperlink feature. But I really want to be able to save the stamp with the hyperlink intact so I can reuse without having to go through the additional steps. Is this possible?
    Thanks in advance, idtwalt

    Hi,
    An alternative to consider.
    Typically, a Stamp incorporates an image.
    Consider using a Button.
    A Button can show text, an image, or both.
    A Button can be given an Action.
    The choices for the Action are many.
    The Action could be to go to another PDF, go to a named destination in another PDF, some specific view at some designated part of another PDF, or it could be to execute an Acrobat JavaScript.
    This alternative approach permits your use of specific images and actions.
    A "template" PDF could hold the inventory of Buttons.
    Have it opened while working on another PDF file. Use copy-paste to select and insert the Button; then, position it.
    Yes, adds time to the work flow.
    However, it provides the ability to let a user "link" to a different PDF.
    It becomes a question of the relative value of providing the "link" for all future users.
    As George points out; a Stamp provides no "interactivity" so its use precludes providing "added value".
    Be well...

  • Adding a date stamp using Acrobat XI

    Hi there
    I want to add a date stamp to a voucher PDF, so that when it is downloaded and printed out, it displays today's (system) date.
    I followed the tutorial at: http://tv.adobe.com/watch/acrobat-x-tips-tricks/quick-tip-how-to-add-a-date-stamp-to-a-for m/   ,double checked the javascript, and this seemed to work. But when I checked the following day, the date displayed was still set at yesterday's date. It had not moved forward. I tried saving as Reader Extended/Enable More Tools, but that didn't work either and I think it removed the JavaScript altogether.
    In the original, I went to  Edit All JavaScripts and this is the code that was there:
    //-----------------Do not edit the XML tags--------------------
    //<Document-Actions>
    //<ACRO_source>Document Will Print</ACRO_source>
    //<ACRO_script>
    /*********** belongs to: Document-Actions:Document Will Print ***********/
    var f = this.getField("DatePrinted");
    f.hidden = false;
    f.value = "Printed on: " + util.printd("mmm dd, yyyy", new Date());
    //</ACRO_script>
    //</Document-Actions>
    Can anyone please help?

    Did you print the PDF and observed what happened.
    The video is about putting the date printed in the PDF just before the PDF is sent to the printer.
    I would have coded it as follows:
    var f = this.getField("DatePrinted"); // field object
    f.display = display.noView; // only print the field
    f.value = "Printed on: " + util.printd("mmm dd, yyyy", new Date()); // set the value of the field
    The 'hidden" property of the field is an old method and discouraged along with the 'print' property. Both of these can be manipulated with the "display" property.
    The "Will print" action only occurs when a print action is initiated
    Do you want this to change when the PDF is opened? Then you need to create a page open or document level script.

  • Will upgrading to Acrobat XI Pro preserve my custom stamps from Acrobat X Pro?

    I'm in the middle of installing Acrobat XI Pro and it wants me to uninstall my existing Acrobat X Pro. I'm concerned that I might lose my custom stamps in the process.

    I can't say for sure, but in any case you should make backups of the stamp files. If they aren't retained, you will be able to simply copy them over to the correct stamps folder for Acrobat 11.
    To find the current stamp folder, open Acrobat, open the JavaScript console by pressing Ctrl+J, and enter the following line of code:
    app.getPath("user", "stamps");
    and with the cursor on that line, press Ctrl+Enter, or Enter on the numeric keypad (on Windows at least).
    The path that is shown may include a hidden directory (e.g., "Application Data", but that is where you'll need to go to copy the stamp files from.
    It possible the custom stamps are also in the location given by:
    app.getPath("app", "stamps");
    so check there too.
