The only way this might be possible is by using the HostContainer object

Passing values from javascript in pop up window to parent jsp

I am trying to pass values from a pop up window to the main window that popped this child window , with the idea to have the parent window refresh itself with value from pop up window.But the values are not going through.I do a request on the hidden variable but when the parent
jsp refreshes , the variable is still null...

HTML-DB OAE Javascript to close current window and open a new window

What we want is to close the current window and open a new window with the URL mentionned in the window.open('http://www.cf.qc/pls/portal/PORTAL.....,'newwindow').
The new window opening fires only once although we call it many times.
Our javascript is:

Try this on for size:
I have included two functions.
windowRebuild() - opens a new window, maximizes it based on the screen size, removes all toolbars, and then closes the old window.
myLocation(appName, pageName) - builds a url referencing an HTMLDB application, specfic to what server you are currently on. Very useful when you have an application on 3 different servers(dev, test, prod servers), you wouldn't want the server name hardcoded if you plan to export the app to another server.
Also, you need to be careful when using &APP_ID. I am not completely certain how that is resolved at runtime, but I've found it only works when the javascript is in the HTML Header of a page and not stored in the template of the page.

Open PDF in browser - but cant control/close window from javascript

Hi
I hope I picked the correct forum
Basically I have a site in asp classic. From a button I opens 2
windows via javascript.
One contains info, one shows a related file ( could be tiff or pdf ).
When user closes info-window, I also close the file window via javascript, so that user only hav to click once.
That works with tiff, but not with pdf, '!file.closed' returns that window are already closed.
Somehow I simply loose contact to that window when I open pdf.
My Adobe is set with "open pdf in browser", version 10.1.2
Any Ideas ?

Oracle tags and JavaScript

Attention JavaScript and Oracle Guru's,
My company has come up with a great requirement using JavaScript and dynamic pages to provide end users with a Systems Availability Information portlet, which scrolls text along the screen.
This is as follows.....
They want a Portlet which scrolls text along the screen on the users home page. This has been easy enough to implementbut now this information has to be supplied from the database (an Internal Systems Operation team input information into this table via a form)
HmmmmOracle tags do not work within JavaScript. So I have created a hidden form on the outside of the JavaScript to pass in text.
This works great with normal text variables, so I thought the addition of Oracle tags would be the next logical step needed to pass data from the database into the scrolling text Portlet.
With use of the <Oracle> tags and hidden variables I have managed to come up with the following....

What I want to achieve is something very basic, done n times
on the web, but its strange that its not working on my machine. I
am getting popups through getURL function and on HTML links but not
from swf/javascript links. This includes linking both to the
webpages on the internet e.g. google and pages on my machine. I
have tried three different ways of achieving this and am attaching
thecode. Can someone look at the files please and see what’s
wrong/spot something I overlooked? I will be extremely grateful.

How to use JavaScript in Dynamic commandLink

Hi All,
In my JSF application, I am able to get the dynamic CommandLink with the below mentioned code.
commandLink.setActionExpression(createActionExpression("#{myBean.myMethod}", String.class));
The above code is navigating to the page mypage.jsp properly (the page which is returned by method myMethod).
My Question is: Instead of navigation (as mentioned above) I want to generate a popup window using JavaScript on click of commandLink.
Please suggest me on how to proceed on this?

1) java is not javascript. This is a java forum. Sun does not have javascript forums because javascript is a different language and unrelated to java. I would guess that most people who know java do not know javascript.
2) If you open an html file in a pop up window, e.g.:
PreTestAnswer.html
and then write to the popup, e.g.:
newdocument.write(.....);
the popup will be erased first, and therefore opening PreTestAnswer.html in the popup is an exercise in futility.
3) On your windowsXP machine, your file PreTestAnswer.html is not in the same directory as whatever html page is displayed in the main window.

How do I get my menu bar at the top of the page with no gaps?

How do I get my menu bar at the top of the page with no gaps? Whenever I move it there is a huge gap at the top of the page which I cant seem to get rid of, i posted about this before but none of the suggestions seemed to work for me. i'm not very good with css so im not really sure where to find the problem. There are generally gaps everywhere which looks at absolute mess, no clue how they got there and why, there is a huge gap underneath my menu bar too which wasnt there before. how do i get rid of this too? its probably some padding a or margin but no clue where.

Footer now floating in middle of page and no background color

Hello all,
Been working on this for days with no luck. I hope someone can spot the silly mistake, because I know it has to be something silly but it's driving me round the bend! The page has always been just fine until I recoded part of the body (the four columns with titles, photos, and text) to help with 508 compliance. Since then, the orange footer that was firmly at the bottom has started floating half way up the page and the background orange color has disappeared.
I've gone through my code line by line, marking off each beginning and ending div tag and everything is fine there. Below, is a screenshot of the lower half of the page showing how the footer should look.

as you can hopefully see, the footer has lost it's orange background and is sitting halfway up the page.

A repeating background image to 'fake' equal height columns is perfectly ok.
It won't work IF your page is responsive but it isn't so no problem. If it were responsive a better solution would be to take advantage of the css property display: table; and display: table-cell;
In reference to your footer background color not showing I would assume you have floated items within the footer container. If so then you need to clear those floated items which allows the footer container to wrap itself around the floated items inside it.
You would do this by using css - overflow: hidden; - on the parent container which has the floats inside it.

How to automatically startup a report in a new window after committing a form

I have a form on a portal-page. The user enters values in the form and presses the INSERT button.
After doing so, I want to show a report in a NEW window querying some values the user entered in the form.
I was hoping to be able to use the After Processing Form PLSQL-section as follows:

I've tried to use the after-form-processing part, but it seems I can only startup reports in the same window with GO and CALL.
Also the ID-variable can not be read from that part.
A second solution I tried was to put this PLSQL in the PLSQL-handler-section of the button, but for some reason all double quotes " are automatically changed into single quotes ' causing several Java-script errors. Perhaps a bug?
Does anyone have a solution for this functionality?

Hi,
There are 2 scenarios I can think of:
1. The value of ORD_ID is not known until the insert processing completed.
2. The value of ORD_ID is known and can be retrieved without a roundtrip to the server.
The 2nd scenario is being simpliest and could be done from Javascript w/out any server involvement, all you need is the getField() function (or any other function to get the field value) described here : http://technet.oracle.com:89/ubb/Forum81/HTML/000073.html
Javascript piece goes something like this:

The first scenario is more complicated.
During the "accept cycle", when your PLSQL insert/update etc. event handlers are
fired all the processing output will happen into the current window.
Neither owa_util.redirect_url() nor wwa_app_module.set_target() will help.
Both of them will do a redirect only in the current browser window,
actually, wwa_app_module.set_target() internally calls owa_util.redirect_url().
What you need is:
1. Get the field value, and either: 1. store it somewhere in a package variable,
or: 2. do this all at once in "before displaying the page"
2. After the form processing is completed (but not in the onSuccess!!! code),
open a new browser window w/Javascript specifying the same url you were passing to
set_target().
Here is my example, place following code into "before displaying the page" additional PLSQL block:

I got some code for a centered pop-up window in Flash from a
Kirupa tutorial. It works well, except that you are supposed to put
an actual URL for the 'address' variable. I'm using a dynamic URL
(+url[p]+) for my URL. When I put address = "'+url[p]'"; for the
address, it doesn't work.
Here's the code for the button:

Any idea why my dynamic url is not being recognized?

Display content items into custom remote portlets

Hi, I need to dinamically display content server items in a custom portlet, using the EDK, but I did not find any way to get this result. Is it poossible to get an object (in my case a published content item) within an ObjectManager and display it's content (in our case a simple HTML content).
I need to do this because whe have to format the home page of the portal in order to display the first half in three columns and the second half in two columns and we are trying to do this implementing a custom portlet (in the content canvas area) containing a three columns table displaying each a different content item.

There are basically two ways that I have done to open the content item editor.1) From a content presentation template you would call a JavaScript function like:

2) The other way is using the content Item API. You get the editor url from the content item, which you already have. Now what you are doing below is almost correct. The importance of the pt:objectid is crucial. Take a look at the web docs on Plumtree ([url[/url]http://www.plumtree.com/edoc/Enterprise_Web_Development_Documentation.htm) under portlets/adaptive portlets/transformer tags/links. So the reason yours is not working is that you are missing some ptargs. The pt:objectid needs to be the objected of the "Content Administrator" portlet. This is for 2 reasons. One is so that you get the correct PTargs and the second is that it will use the basic auth information stored in its web service. So if your objectid of the portlet was 201 then it would look like this:
