Javascript menus don't work.

I'm having some trouble with javascript menus (or what I believe are javascript menus). Whether it matters or not I am not sure, but it happens in both Firefox and Chrome...IE works fine.
Examples of sites with menus that don't work:
1. Orbitz.com: Can't pull down the "Adult" or "Child" menus.
2. toyota.com: Can't "select vehicle" at the top of the page.
I get no error messages. I have started Firefox in safe mode, I have also reset Firefox.

I do have a touch screen. Can't believe that matters!
I toggled both of these settings to:
dom.w3c_touch_events.enabled = 0
dom.w3c_touch_events.expose = false
However the selector still does not work. I don't get a "javascript;;" message.
This occurs both in Safe Mode and standard mode.

  • 2 Questions - Vertical Menus don't work on Windows but work on Mac

    I have made a horizontal menu with vertical drop downs. Then drop down menus work properly in all "mac" browsers, (Google Chrome, Firefox, Explorer, Safari) but they don't work at (drop down) all on my pc laptop using the same browsers. (Google Chrome, Firefox, Explorer, Safari)
    Why would they work on one platform and not another? Is there something I can add to my source to fix this?
    Also the menu is located above a flash image and on the PC the menus go behind the flash animation instead of on top. It drops down over the flash animation in the mac browsers but not the pc browsers. The Z Index is set to 1000 so that should be correct. Any ideas what's up?
    Also, what would be an inexpensive or free menu creator tool to replace Menu Machine? Does Dreamweaver CS4 have a simple menu creator?

    So why does the menu appear above the flash animation in all mac browsers and not in Windows browsers?
    It's caused by different browsers on various platforms giving a higher priority to flash objects.  Also different among update levels within same browsers.  For example,  Firefox.3.0, Firefox.3.6... Safari 3.0, 3.1, 4.0...
    What is "jQuery Cycle" and how do I use this instead of flash?
    jQuery is a common JavaScript library.  Cycle is a plug-in for making images fade in/out, etc...  See the demos.

  • Application's run-time shortcut menus don't work on local drive.

    The run-time menus in my application don't work, unless I run the application from the location where it is built.  This project has an application build specification, and an installer build specification.  The installer specification, copies the app to the local drive.  But the run-time shortcut menus do not work when the app runs.  Nothing happens when I right click on the control.  However if I run the same app from the network drive, where the application build spec builds it, it runs fine.  When I have the application build spec build the app directly to the local drive, it works fine.  The exe, ini and aliase files are identical.  Why does this app run differently depending on which drive it's on?  How can I fix it so the run-time shortcut menus work on the target machine?  Any ideas?

    Hello, I believe that when you create a custom run-time menu it gets saved to a file.  My guess is that you are not including this file as part of the build specification for the application.  The file likely exists in the build directory but does not on the target directory which is why it no longer works.  If that does not fix the problem, let me know and I will see if I can figure something else out.

  • JavaScript Links Don't Work

    I don't know if I'm in the right place to ask this question, but could someone please help me? I'm using Windows XP Professional Corporate Edition. When I first installed Windows everything worked fine. Then I downloaded Windows XP Service Pack 2. Soon after I found out that Microsoft no longer supports Java or some crap like that. So I downloaded Sun Java, which ever the newest version is. I have no problems with Java applets like Yahoo! games and stuff like that, they work just fine. But when I click on a JavaScript link, nothing happens. I don't get an error message or anything. I get nothing. It worked right after I installed Java, but hasn't worked since. Now I can't empty the trash in my email because it's a JavaScript link and I'm quickly running out of mailbox space. I also can't add minutes to my cell phone because the link for that is also JavaScript. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Java like seven times and it doesn't help. I contacted Microsoft but they want to charge me to help. Just so you all know what I'm talking about in case I confused you with my babbling, when I click on "Empty Trash" in my email, down in the bottom left corner of Internet Explorer it says "javascript:do empty trash()" without the quotations. I've been told that Java and JavaScript are different. I don't know if this is true, but if it is, could someone please still help me? I can't switch folders in my email either so I can't get to my saved email that I need to get to. It says javascript:doSwitchFolder(",'FolderName') . Please help me. You can reply here or email me at [email protected] . I'm able to read my mail, so don't worry I will get it.
    Thank you
    Chris Stewart

    It's true that M$ isn't supporting Java. And it's also true that Java isn't JavaScript.
    This must be something related to the browser settings... IE I believe.
    In IE, go to Tools... > Internet Options... > Advanced tab.
    Scroll down to find some checkbox above which Java (Sun) is mentioned. Just check if the JRE you installed (or have you?) is seen there and the checkbox should be checked.
    Another possibility. In the Security tab, click on the Custom level... Scroll down till you see Scripting; click the enable radio button for all the options under it.
    And don't forget to save. That should solve!

  • Why does the scroll down menus don't work on my laptop at home but work when I'm on my laptop at work?

    It's really weird. When I'm on my laptop at home, the scroll down menu appears but disappears in less than a second. When I bring my laptop to work and use the scroll down menus there, they appear and they don't disappear? It's very annoying that I can't use the menus at home, can someone help me?

    The two things to try first are renewing your network lease, forgetting the network and if that doesn't work to reset all networks. You might have tried one of these but I'll repeat the steps just to make sure.
    Settings > Wi-Fi > tap the blue arrow to the right of your network name > Renew Lease
    If that doesn't work then
    Settings > Wi-Fi > tap the blue arrow to the right of your network name > Forget this Network
    If that doesn't work
    Settings > General > Networks > Reset All Networks > then reset your iPhone by
    Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart.
    I hope one of these will help.

  • Blu-Ray Motion menus don't work!

    Hey Gang,
    I posted this issue before but since I received a very limited response, I'm hoping that someone will respond to this simplier issue.
    I created a empty blu-ray project. I placed the Encore Crib Motion Menu HD into the project. The menu provided NO motion even after rendering.
    I then created a standard DVD project and performed the exact same steps. The motion menu now works.
    I'm running a system with Vista 32 loaded & CS3.
    Anyone get the motion menus to work in Blu-Ray?
    Please let me know. It will take a minute to duplicate my project.
    BTW, I have tried this on two seperate system yielding the same results.
    Thanks!
    Steve

    That's right. CS4 simply behaves different to CS3!
    I have never had to render out a menu to preview it. We only create motion menus for Blu-ray and only use highlight layers from Photoshop. In CS3, when you right clicked on a menu in Encore and clicked "simulate from here", you would see your highlight layers over the video immediately.
    NOW, with CS4, you must render out the menu after clicking "simulate from here" to see it. VERY annoying but I'm sure Adobe did this for a good reason.
    Pop-up menus I am glad to report actually work! We haven't figured out how to create motion pop-up menus yet but I suspect this is not available yet in Encore.
    If anyone knows any differently, I'd love to hear it.
    What's fixed and I'm SO GLAD is that during simulation, the SKIP FORWARD chapter button WORKS!!! In CS3, you had to pause the video and then could skip forward. Now, like any other normal program, while the video is playing, you can skip forward.
    I would thank Adobe for fixing this but, let's face it, this just should have worked in CS3!

    Darren

  • Javascript popups don't work using global variables?

    I have a "References" menu region that contains links to several pop-up pages showing valid data entry codes filtered for the user's location. I tried to make this work from another page by changing the references from page variables to global/application variables, but this doesn't work. Can anyone suggest a workaround? Here's the code I'm using:
    URL target in link
    javascript:callEmpPopup('P1050_ORG_ID')Javascript
      function callMyPopup (formItem1,formRow1) {
        var formVal1 = document.getElementById(formItem1).value;
        var formVal2 = 1;
        var url;
      url = 'f?p=&APP_ID.:1056:&APP_SESSION.::::P1056_FACTORY_ID,P1056_ROW:' + formVal1 + ',' + formVal2;
      w = open(url,"winLov","Scrollbars=1,resizable=1,width=1000,height=600");
      if (w.opener == null)
      w.opener = self;
      w.focus();
      }

    Javascript can reference and manipulate only those elements that are part of the HTML page (DOM elements). Application items are not part of the HTML that constitutes an APEX page and as a consequence cannot be accessed using Javascript.

  • My pop-up menus don't work when I apply them.

    I have been working in fixing this problem nearly all day and haven't been able to find a solution. I added a pop-menu in DW, but it doesn't show up. I am new to coding and I suspect it has to be a problem with the hierarchy of the code, but I just can't seem to figure it out. Can someone pleeeeeese take a look at my source code and let me know if you can see how to correct this problem. The .js file is in the folder so I know that's not the problem.
    Please please help if you can.
    Here is the link: http://www.graphicmechanic.com/DEKALBCOUNTY/LIVING-IN-DEKALB/LIVING-IN-DEKALB.html
    The link that I applied the pop up menu to is the "Arts & Culture" link in the list to the left in blue area.
    Any advisement that gets me closer to solving the problem would be greatly appreciated!!!!

    I believe it's because the code to create/load the menu is wrapped in a <script> tag that actually calls an external JS file, meaning the external code is executed instead of the code wrapped in the tag. You have this at line 62:
    <script language='JavaScript' type='text/javascript' src='TE_FontMagnify/yahoo-dom-event.js'>function mmLoadMenus() {
    It should be this:
    <script language='JavaScript' type='text/javascript'>function mmLoadMenus() {
    THen you would need to add this after the closing </script> tag to call that external file again:
    <script language='JavaScript' type='text/javascript' src='TE_FontMagnify/yahoo-dom-event.js'></script>

  • Itunes Toolbar Menus Don't work with Mouse

    I moved itunes from my laptop to my PC. Everything works fine except the toolbar menus. I can not access the toolbar menus with my mouse. I have to use the alt key to access the menus.
    Suggestions?
    Win 7 Sp1
    ipad
    Itunes 10.3.1.55

    I found out WHY this is happening. Evidently there is a bug of some sort in itunes? In Win 7 I have the task bar at the top of the screen. Moving the task bar to the bottom of the screen (the default) rresults in the menus working with my mouse. I do not have trouble with any other program.
    Any ideas?

    I am doing this and the submenu does not fold out? Can anyone help me with this? I have CS, and the tool bar submenus work fine in that program.

    You are welcome, Janice.

    It seems that you are rather good at more intricate computer handling.
    And it seems that it may be necessary to reboot even with pre Vista Windows.

  • Menus on some web sites don't work

    I have just activated 2 new Lumia 520 phones with Windows 8 mobile. (updated to Amber)
    When browsing the web, the menus don't work on a couple of web sites that I have written.
    These menus use Javascript to show drop down lists and to navigate to the appropriate pages. When you click a link on the menu, the drop down menu appears for a couple of seconds, then disappears. Even in the couple of seconds that the dropdown appears, it can not be clicked.
    Interestingly, these web sites also use javascript to open overlay pages when a thumbnail picture is clicked, This action works.
    These menus have been regression tested in all the major browsers and they work on a PC, Mac, iPad and Android but seem to fail on Windows 8 mobile.
    I searched and can't see any option that allows me to enable or disable Javascript.
    Here are links to those 2 sites:
    http://www.garynancy.com/index.html

    What am I missing?

    The menuscript (popupmo.js) you are using will not work.
