here is a my method
public WnUser findUser (Object email) {
return (WnUser) em.createQuery("SELECT object(u.email) FROM entities.WnUser u WHERE u.email =:email")
.setParameter("email", email).getSingleResult();
when I call this I see errors

I want write method fro login by email and password, also I want search email with entity beans, nut I have this errors, what is it?

Seems this is happening because your query finds no result.
If you look at the javadoc for javax.persistence.Query, you can see that method getSingleResult() throws a NoResultException if there is no result.

  • Noob Question: Problem with Persistence in First Entity Bean

    Hey folks,
    I have started with EJB3 just recently. After reading several books on the topic I finally started programming myself. I wanted to develop a little application for getting a feeling of the technology. So what I did is to create a AppClient, which calls a Stateless Session Bean. This Stateless Bean then adds an Entity to the Database. For doing this I use Netbeans 6.5 and the integrated glassfish. The problem I am facing is, that the mapping somehow doesnt work, but I have no clue why it doesn't work. I just get an EJBException.
    I would be very thankfull if you guys could help me out of this. And don't forget this is my first ejb project - i might need a very detailed answer ... I know - noobs can be a real ....
    So here is the code of the application. I have a few methods to do some extra work there, you can ignore them, there are of no use at the moment. All that is really implemented is testConnection() and testAddCompany(). The testconnection() Methode works pretty fine, but when it comes to the testAddCompany I get into problems.
    Edit:As I found out just now, there is the possibility of Netbeans to add a Facade pattern to an Entity bean. If I use this, everythings fine and it works out to be perfect, however I am still curious, why the approach without the given classes by netbeans it doesn't work.
    public class Main {
        private EntryRemote entryPoint = null;

            Main main = new Main();

        private void runApplication()throws NamingException{
            this.getContext();
            this.testConnection();
            this.testAddCompany();
            this.testAddShipmentAddress(1);
            this.testAddBillingAddress(1);
            this.testAddEmployee(1);
            this.addBankAccount(1);
        private void getContext() throws NamingException{

            this.entryPoint = (EntryRemote) ctx.lookup("Entry#ejb.EntryRemote");

            System.err.println("Can Bean Entry be reached: " + entryPoint.isAlive());

            entryPoint.addCompany(company);
            System.err.println("JavaFreaks has been placed in the db");
        }Here is the Stateless Session Bean. I added the PersistenceContext, and its also mapped in the persistence.xml file, however here the trouble starts.

    Well I don't understand this. If Netbeans created a Stateless Session Bean as a facade then it works -and it is implemented as a CMP, not as a BMP as you suggested.
    I defenitely will try you suggestion, just for curiosity and to learn the technology, however I dont have see why BMP will work and CMP won't.
    I also don't see why a stateless bean can not be a CMP. As far as I read it should not matter. Also on the link you sent me, I can't see anything related to that.
    Maybe you can help me answering these questions.
    I hope the above lines don't sound harsh. I really appreciate your input.
    Best regards

    hey guys i made some updates on my sample and i figure out that as long as am creating enterprise application on netbeans 6 that contain both ejb module and client module i don`t need to write mapedName i only put the @ejb in the client side and it creates an instance of the remote interface
    here is what i have done in the client code /*

    Hi, I'm a beginner on Weblogic, sorry my so simple and basic question (and my bad english). But I'm trying to build the weblogic examples ("ant build", as the documentation says) and got error messages like this:

    I suppose that there is some "jar" containing "javax.persistence" that should be included in some classpath
    on build.xml file, but I didn't find such "jar". I found in documentation that persistence is also implemented using
    the Kodo software, an may be I should configure it, but I don't know how. Can someone help me building the
    Weblogic examples?
    Thanks.

  • Javax.persistence annotated class creating persistence.jar dependency

    Hi,
    I'm trying to create a JAR for clients to use. I would like to include a few classes that have been annotated for use with hibernate using the standard javax.persistence annotations (code snippet below). The problem is, @GeneratedValue accepts a javax.persistence.GenerationType enum which is creating a dependency and, in fact, causes the client's compiler to fail if they try to import and use the Award class after including my JAR.
    Does anyone know of a solution. Thanks in advance. Here's the compiler output:
    An exception has occurred in the compiler (1.6.0_04). Please file a bug at the Java Developer Connection (http://java.sun.com/webapps/bugreport)  after checking the Bug Parade for duplicates. Include your program and the following diagnostic in your report.  Thank you.
    com.sun.tools.javac.code.Symbol$CompletionFailure: class file for javax.persistence.GenerationType not found
    Compilation completed with 1 error and 0 warnings
    1 error
    0 warnings
    Compiler internal error. Process terminated with exit code 4
    @Entity
    @Table( name = "award" )
    public class Award
        @Id
        @GeneratedValue( strategy = GenerationType.IDENTITY ) // this requires that GenerationType be available to the client
        @Column( name = "award_id", nullable = false, length = 19 )
        private Long id;
        // etc., etc.
    }

    Did you read the error message anyway? Did you bother to Google the error message?
    At least try upgrading both the JDK and the JPA implementation.

  • Transactions, Persistence Contexts and Entity Managers... Oh My!

    Hi
    I am just getting into J2EE and EJB3. I have no prior experience with EJB2, we avoided it with our own POJO data access framework. With the advent of EJB3 we would like to use it in a new application.
    I am reading the book "Pro EJB 3" by Ketih and Schincariol and am having trouble wrapping my head around then Entity Manager chapter. I don't think it's any fault of the authors, but somehow it's just not coming together in my head. Perhaps it's because I have no real prior EJB experience.
    Can anyone point me to a resource that gives an overview of the relationships between Transactions, Persistence Contexts and Entity Managers? Or perhaps I just have to keep mulling it over until it all comes together...?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Shelli,
    I haven't read that book but I don't know of a good writeup of the tx topic specifically outside
    of the spec itself. There are certainly a lot of combinations, between container-managed
    vs. bean-managed EntityManagers, and JTA vs. resource-local. However, the
    common usage case within Java EE -- container-managed and JTA -- is very simple.
    In this case, the container automatically associates the persistence context with the
    active global transaction. If you make a call to another Java EE component within the
    same transaction and that component accesses a container-managed EntityManager
    for the same persistence unit, the persistence context is automatically propagated so
    that both components "see" the same persistence context.

    See [http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5333060&tstart=0]. In general, if you use third-party libraries in your code, you should include these libraries in Javadoc's classpath option when generating documentation.

    Hi,
    I have a web application that is built using Spring 3.2.1 and Hibernate 4.2.0 (JPA 2). The application deploys and runs well in Weblogic v 12.1.1. Now we have a change in the requirement from the client regarding the server version. The server needs to be downgraded to a lower version i.e., Weblogic v 10.3.2. It looks like a problem with the JPA library. I tried few of the solutions after I did some research but were of no use. Below are the solutions that I had tried
    Solution 1:
    1) Copy hibernate-jpa-2.0-api-1.0.1.Final.jar into your weblogic's %DOMAIN_HOME%/lib directory.
    2) Open up your setDomainEnv.cmd (windows) or setDomainEnv sh (unix) script file and set your PRE_CLASSPATH variable to set PRE_CLASSPATH=%DOMAIN_HOME%\lib\hibernate-jpa-2.0-api-1.0.1.Final.jar
    After trying the above solution the exception is still raised while deployment of the application.
    Solution 2:
    Create "weblogic-application.xml" file into META-INF with something like this:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <weblogic-application xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/weblogic/weblogic-application">
    <application-param>
      <param-name>webapp.encoding.default</param-name>
      <param-value>UTF-8</param-value>
    </application-param>
    <prefer-application-packages>
      <package-name>javax.persistence.*</package-name>
    </prefer-application-packages>
    </weblogic-application>
    After trying the above solution the exception is still raised while deployment of the application
    I really appreciate if anyone can suggest me what is causing this exception and how can I fix this?
    Thanks,
    Srikanth

    Hi,
    if you deplyo to Application Server 10.1.3 make sure you install the ADF runtime libraries 10.1.3.1. Shut down the Application Server and use the runtime installer from the JDeveloper tools menu

  • How to update java.sql.Clob using javax.persistence.EntityManager?

    Hello.
    Can anyone tell me (or show me some example) how to update java.sql.Clob using javax.persistence.EntityManager.
    When I’m trying to update column (with type Clob) value is not inserting, after update column is empty. I haven’t any error during update, I’m using database Oracle 10g.

    Post some code so we can see how you are doing it. If you are using JPA entities take a look at the @Lob annotation.

  • Javax.naming.LinkException  JNDI error Help please

    Hello All,
    I am trying my first bean on Weblogic 7 and can't seem to get the deployment descriptor correct. The home
    interface is, ObjectIDLocalHome and the full class name is com.oga.gserve.biz.oid.ObjectIDLocalHome. I am
    using the fully qualified class name so that I can do an EJBHomeFactory latter on.
    I have used the WLS console and see my bean in the JNDI tree I also used the following to find it:
    public static void loop(final Context ctx, final String name) throws Exception {
    try {
    String local;
    NamingEnumeration childrenOfNaming = ctx.list(name);
    while (childrenOfNaming.hasMore()) {
    NameClassPair ncPair = (NameClassPair) childrenOfNaming.next();
    System.out.print(ncPair.getName() + " (type ");
    System.out.println(ncPair.getClassName() + ")");
    if (name.length() > 0) {
    local = name + "." + ncPair.getName();
    } else {
    local = ncPair.getName();
    loop(ctx, local);
    } catch (javax.naming.CannotProceedException e) {
    // We are at a leaf, no more children.
    I find ObjectIDLocalHome as type javax.naming.LinkRef, as a leaf of com.oga.gserve.biz.oid
    So I know it exist!
    But why as a javax.naming.LinkRef?
    Now when I try the following:
    String cName = ObjectIDLocalHome.class.getName();
    ObjectIDLocalHome home = (ObjectIDLocalHome) ctx.lookup(cName);
    I get:
    javax.naming.LinkException: . Root exception is javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: Unable to resolve
    'java:app.ejb/gs-ejbs.jar#ObjectID/local-home' Resolved: '' Unresolved:'java:app' ; remaining name
    'java:app.ejb/gs-ejbs.jar#ObjectID/local-home'
    What is wrong?
    It must be in one of the .xmls but I can't see it:

  • Where is javax.persistence.AccessType

    Hello all,
    I am not able to fine the Enum AccessType , neither in the api-doc nor in the lib.
    Can anyone help me to find out that which library shall I look for the same.
    Thanks a lot for the help.
    Regards,
    Varun Narang.

    Got the answer:
    EJB 3.0 Java Persistence API Final Release, A.4 Changes since Public Draft:
    Quote:
    "Removed accessType element from annotations: required use of a single access type in an entity hierarchy; placement of the mapping annotations determines the access type in effect. "

  • JPA persistence and ADF bindings help!!

    Environment:
    Jdev 10.1.3.1
    EJB 3.0 JPA toplink essentials+JSF
    I'm usind ADF data control to map persistence action to bindings
    I find an example to map "save" button to "merge" method and all work
    please anybody knows how to use or where find example about
    "persist" method to create a new entity instance and how to mapping to a button?
    Thank u in advance
    Francesco Galante

    Hi,
    to persist the information you enter in a form, create a input form based on the object's constructor. There is a spcial constructor node in teh ADF Datacontrol palette. In the form creation dialog, add a submit button ( as checkbox option)
    In teh data control palette, select the persist() method optionand drag this node over the submit button. Choose the "bind to existing button" option from the context menu. Thsi will change the button label, which you can change in the button's property
    A dialog is shown that asks you to provide a value for the object. When you click into this field, a button [...] show that you use to launch the ExpressionLanguage editor.
    in the editor, select the Iterator binding entry and choose the "DataProvider" subelement to bind the input form to the persist method.
    As Shay mentioned this is all described in basic TopLink / EJB tutorials on OTN

  • Javax.naming.NoInitialContextException! Urgent help needed

    Hi All
    I'm using Oracle Application Server(OC4J) for J2EE. i created an application of Stateless Session Bean & tested on j2sdkee1.3.1, & it is working fine on it. Same Application (an .ear file) i deployed on OC4J. But it is giving an error NoInitialContextException, lookup fails here.
    Application contains method getEchoString(String):String & a index.jsp page calling a bean's method.
    Can anybody tell me the solution to get handle of beans home interface for calling method.
    Already i've wasted many days for this. Plz help. It's urgent
    Thanks in Advance

    To the best of my knowledge, the 'javax.naming.ldap' package is fairly new, and is only included in the most recent distributions of the JNDI API. I know that this package is included with J2SDK 1.3, and I can also confirm that the very latest JNDI distribution (from http://java.sun.com/products/jndi/#download) contains the package.
    Good luck,
    -Derek

    Thanks Buddy,
    I think that was the correct one, but as i was using the example of ejb1.1 compatible, this is futher giving me a problem, Says U need to make the methods in the bean as abstract, i think this is as per the ejb2.0 specs right?.
    I would try for that ad come back to u
    Thanks
