Javax.script API maintaing the javascript vars

Hi All,
First is this the correct forum for javax.script questions? I can't find another....
Is there a way to maintain the state of a global javascript variable between calls?
I have a CompiledScript instance which I keep. I call eval once and then at various times I call functions in the javascript. The script has:
var a = 10;
at the top. When call a function can changes to var a be maintained between calls?

Java 6 Scripting API vs Rhino

Apologies if this isn't the right place for this question, but I can't see a more appropriate forum.
I have some classes that use the Mozilla Rhino API for invoking javascript, and I was planning to upgrade this to use the new javax.script classes in Java 6. However, there's one particular feature that seems to be missing.
In Rhino, you invoke JS functions through the Function class (See http://www.mozilla.org/rhino/apidocs/org/mozilla/javascript/Function.html). This has a method construct() which invokes a JS function that has been implemented as a constructor, and returns the new JS object.
I can't find an equivalent method in the javax.script API. Am I missing something? Or was this feature deliberately left out because the new API is designed to be more general purpose, and support langauges that don't have constructors?

If it was me I wouldn't get all excited just because it seems like the java API implements something that previously required a third party library.
I know that when initially the logging api showed up I thought log4j would never be needed again. That was until I actually looked at what the logging api provided. It wasn't close. So sticking with log4j was and still is by far the better choice.
Besides the actual API you might also note that as the first version that it is more likely to have bugs than a third party library that has been around for a while.

Some more typos in the Javascript API documentation

Very minor, niggly things, but even so, they are there.
In the Javascript APIs, the function definition refers to the parameter pNd, but then in the Parameters subheading, it is referred to as pId (inconsistent).
The two that come to my immediate attention are: $v_Array and $f_ReturnChecked.
$v_Array( pNd )
Returns an item value as an array. Useful for multiselects and checkboxes.

I've just come accross this $nvl function in the javascript API. see: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17556_01/doc/apirefs.40/e15519/javascript_api.htm#CHDGAIJJ
The description reads:
*$nvl(pTest, pDefault)*If pTest is empty or false return pDefault otherwise return pTest.>
So this sugguests to me, that if the value of pTest is either empty or null or false, return the value of pDefault. However, when you pass in an empty string (or a false variable), it just returns that value.
And if you look at the function specification in apex_4_0.js

return(b != null) ? b : ((!!a) ? a:"")
}Obviously, passing in an empty string as pTest (or a false variable), will just return you that empty string (or false), as it isn't null.
In a javascript console:

How complete is the javascript API?

Hi,
I am trying to serealize a AI document using the javascript API. Based on the "AI CC SCRIPTING REFERENCE" I assumed this could be done by simple traversing the dom and saving the type and properties of each object. It seems however that the API isn't complete. For example, I can't figure out how to read the transformation matrix of a symbolItem. (i.e. when creating a new symbolItem from a symbol and then resizing/rotating/repositioning it, how can I find these new properties?)
This is just one thing I ran into, that might be fixed using the C SDK. I am wondering however if this is worth the effort or more like filling a bucket full of holes? How complete is the javascript API?

Based on the description, you got the error message when you update the apps from version 1.0 to 1.1.
From the error message, it seems the menifest include some settings no allowed in the new version. Would you mind sharing more detail about how you update the project?

To execute server side code in a custom ribbon button script, using application page is a common way to do this, besides, you can also use a page dialog, which is similar with application page but display as model dialog, another way is javascript

the regular Sentinel plug-in site:

Problems with Java Scripting API

Guys, I need help with Java scripting API. A problem is that I cannot understand how can I operate Java Object's fields and methods from the script language. I have chosen embedded javascript to work with. And I can get the fields and methods of in-box java classes (such as ArrayList for example), but I cannot work with methods and fields from my own classes!
Here is an example:

please let me raise this topic because several new questions emerged.
(1) How can I get all the variables created inside my engine?
There are two kinds of variables: first kind is Java obejcts put inside the engine and second kind is the variables created in my script, such as 'var a = 4;'. How can I list all the variables of that two kinds?
(2) Is there is a way to make 'import static' to the engine? I dont want to write MyClass.MyEnum.MyEnumItem every time. Also, I cannot put the whole enum into the engine with engine.put("MyEnum", MyEnum); I can put only enum items separately: engine.put("MyEnum", MyEnum.EnumItemA);. Thats why I ask about static import.
(3) How can I cast engine variables back to java variables inside my java code?

How to pass the javascript variable value to a jsp

I am trying to set a javascript variable with onClick event of a radio button in jsp
and I am assigning this variable to a hidden property in JSP whic has the corresponding getter an setter method in form.
But I am not able to retrtieve the value assigned in either form/action .can any body help me in this:

You need to set the value of the hidden field in your function.
Setting an unrelated variable will not help.
function setValue(val)
document.forms[0].o.value = val;
also your get/set methods should be getO() and setO().

The problem is that we don't get the error code and/or the error message from the Javascript in oIndsgnSrvRes. The error code is always 0 if I set an Integer value as return in the Javascript. If I set a String, there is an Exception in the Java application.

As you're talking about "backing beans", are you using JSF?
After all, this is definitely not the way to let Java and JS interact with each other. Java runs at the server side. JS runs at the client side. Java can write JS code to the response, but definitely cannot call it. JS can access the HTML DOM and invoke requests to the server (form.submit() and AJAX and so on) and send parameters along the request, but definitely cannot call Java classes and methods independently. Nothing more and nothing less than that.

How do i call servlet from javascript after validation the javascript

Can anyone tell me how to call a servlet after the javascript is being validated. Here is my code to validate javascript i need to call a servlet inorder to save the data into the same form. I tried calling through the action method in the form but its directly taking me to the servlet but not validating the form. Is there any way that i can validate the form first then call the servlet.

Your javascript code contains a syntax error. That's why the function isn't being called. Take a look at this line in your code.
if ((m>12 && m<100) || (m> = 100 && m<1000) || (m==0))Notice the space between > and =. Remove that space.

Powershell script to get the low disk space on the servers...

Hi,
We have many SQL & Sharepoint servers running on windows server. I need some Powershell script to get the low disk space on those servers and it should send an mail alert saying "Disc d:\ have less than threshold 15% free space".

you should be able to use this powershell script which you can run as a scheduled task.
just change the details at the start of the script to point the script to the right location to create log files. you will need to have a plain text file containing a list of server names or ip addresses that you want to check drive space on.
