JBoss: cannot use RMI when underlying IP changes

Hi, I'm new to JBoss.
I would like to deploy some EJBs on JBoss to which remote clients are able to access across the Internet.
I have a FQDN for the JBoss server. However I found that after the underlying IP address changed (after the server started), the clients cannot access to the EJBs through RMI (port 1098).
Run in debug mode, server.log shows the name server stub as follows:
[org.jboss.naming.NamingService] NamingServer stub: NamingServer_Stub[UnicastRef2 [liveRef: [endpoint:[xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:1098,org.jboss.net.sockets.DefaultSocketFactory@ad093076](local),objID:[0]]]]
I also read the JBoss source code, and in fact the stub is bound to an IP address and is cached once the server starts. A listener (BootstrapRequestHandler in org.jnp.server.Main)is responsible to return the stub whoever requests it.
            OutputStream os = socket.getOutputStream();
            ObjectOutputStream out = new ObjectOutputStream(os);
            out.writeObject(serverStub);To solve this, I have to restart JBoss.
But It's kind of annoying....

I found the solution. It's not JBoss problem, but Java RMi's.
That's why I can't anywhere in the JBoss source code controlling where RMI server bound to.
I have to set a the property - java.rmi.server.hostname when starting JBoss.
e.g. ./run.sh -Djava.rmi.server.hostname=myFQDN.com
Therefore the remote client will only connect to my FQDN rather than the specific IP address.

    We are installing acrobat pro with GP on XP systems. The install goes fine but on some users machines when they launch the program it comes back with
    "Cannot use this product under a guest account". The users are admins on the system. If I uninstall acrobat pro 10 and reinstall in manually the same error happens. (note these systems had acrobat pro 9 installed, but was un-installed with the acrobat pro 10 MST)

    Adobe WTF???!!! I have wasted a whole day on this problem and it's pissing me off. I'm trying to do something very simple.
    I have Acrobat Standard X. I installed the software on local administrator User A and it works
    I login as local administrator User B and it doesn't work, says "Cannot use this product under a guest account". Fine.
    I uninstalld software as User A and reboot
    I login as User B and installd the software. Software doesn't run, still says "Cannont use this product under a guest account". Why???!!! This is ridiculous. User B, is a local admin acount, it is not a "guest account". I understand that with this license I can only run the software with one account. I want to run the software with User B, why are you forcing me to run it with User A???!!!
    Can someone from Adobe please give a solution to this ridiculous problem? I'm losing my patience with your products and I am considering going another route...

    This really is an old chestnut. In the days of character mode many people used to put such code in key-triggers, which meant large numbers of triggers, possible loopholes, and a nightmare when it came to conversion to mouse navigation.
    After using various methods in the past, I have now standardised on using a FORM-LEVEL WHEN-NEW-ITEM-INSTANCE trigger in all of my new forms. Although I originally did this because I wanted to highlight the current field, I have since found it very useful for doing other things. If I want to navigate as a result of WHEN-VALIDATE-WHATEVER I set a variable to the name of the item I want to go to (could use a global but I prefer packaged variables). The W-N-I-I trigger reads the variable and does the GO-ITEM (and of course nullifies the variable).
    I also agree with Steve, POST-CHANGE is oldy-fashioned and not really the right thing to use.

    I installed Photoshop Elements 12 today and registered online.  I tried to use Photo Editor and get a dialog box "cannot use this product under a guest account". I went to the Organizer side of the program and tied to log in under Help, but that didn't work.  Please tell me how to correct this issue.

    OK, we have a fix. My Administrator noticed that there was an Adobe Acrobat issue found at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/783362 that was almost identical to what I was experiencing.  In that thread, the user was a member of a group called “Administrators” but was also a member of the group called "Guests". The program saw both user accounts but allocated the user to the Guests account and gave the same error “Cannot use this product under a guest account”. With that background, my Administrator tried to remove me from the Guests group.  However, I have Windows 7 Home Premium as my operating system and it doesn't allow access to the Local Users and Groups Snap-in under the Microsoft Management Console (MMC). Therefore, he had to:
    Open a command prompt (run CMD as Administrator)
    net localgroup Guests  /delete
    Log off user
    Log back on as user.
    When he did that, I had a fully functional PSE12. So tomorrow I will begin to explore the new program and have high expectations that it will be as great as its reviews. Thanks again for all your help.

    Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
    As long as the issue is not the result of user damage (like being dropped) it should be covered under warranty.  Only Apple can say for certain whether it is covered or not.

  • My app cannot use USB when ordinary user

    Hi,
    I have written an application that controls a USB Phidget servo via libusb, but when I log is as an ordinary user my app cannot communicate with the servo. As far as I can tell the problem is that when an ordinary user, my app cannot use libusb. But I can generally use other USB devices like flash drives or digital cameras.
    It may be a matter of adding my self to a group but can't figure out which (there seems to be no usb group in /etc/group.
    Any ideas/hints please?

    I know even less...;) but I found out what I did wrong, rather silly in retrospect but as I said, never had to fiddle with udev: I added the usb group but did not add GROUP="usb" to the udev usb_device rule. Now its OK, thank for the tip!

    On your phone: Settings>Store...tap the ID shown...sign out...sign back in with the ID you want to use.

  • How to refresh dataservices when underlying table changes

    I'm writing a Flex application using FlashBuilder that accesses several MySQL tables. I've generated data services to access the tables and have used a datagrid to display the data successfully.
    I then realized I was missing a couple of columns in one of my tables. I used phpAdmin to add the columns to the table. When I try to add the new columns to the datagrid, they don't show up in the Bind to Field dropdown. (I am able to type in the new column names, but they don't seem to function in the grid.)
    Looking at the service datatype and code in the Data/Services tab, I can see that they're not showing the new columns. I tried doing a refresh, but they still don't show up.  I've snooped through the code in the services folder and I could try to add them myself. Before I do, I thought I'd better find out if there's a better way.
    Is the data service generation a one-time only type of function or is there a way to have it "re-generate" the data service so as to include any new or changed columns? Any advice on how best to handle this in the future (short of "finish the data model first" )?

    Do a "Configure Return Type" on the Operation which is bound to the datagrid. Right click on the operation -> Configure Return Type. This will generate a new data type with a new property corresponding to MySQL column.
    Add a column to DataGrid either in Code OR right click on DataGrid -> Configure Columns and add new column with 'HeaderText' and 'Bind To field' values.

    Branching this to a new discussion.  What type of account are you logging in as?  Is it an adminsitrator account?  If so please try creating a new local administrator account and see if you face the same difficulties.
