JButton unclickable and mouse scroll question

hello,
Is it possible to make a JButton unclickable?
also.. Can i speed up the pace of a scroll panels
"scroll effect" for a mouse wheel?
Thanks,
jd

1) Yes. Try setEnabled(false);
2) I think so. JComponents like JTree and JTextComponent implement Scrollable to interact with JScrollPane in an intelligent manner. Subclass the component to override the results returned by this interface to adjust the behaviour as desired.
I'm not sure if you could change it globally though, although you could fiddle with subclassing JScrollPane to watch the effect, since it implements Scrollable itself.

  • Audio volume and mouse scroll wheel-WMM inferior to 3rd party?

Whenever I can't use my Wireless Mighty Mouse (maybe I forgot it at home etc.) I try to use other mice lying around from bygone eras.
When I end up using a 3rd party bluetooth mouse, say a Kensington, or even a Microsoft, I notice that I can click on the Volume menulet on the menu bar at the top right of my OS screen, and with the volume bar expanded downwards I can then use the scroll wheel to adjust the volume.
When I use the Apple mouse and its scroll ball nothing happens. I have to actually click and drag the volume slider, a much more precision demanding exercise.
What gives? How come the mouse driver for a Kensington/Microsoft allows something the Apple's own seems to ignore? Is there some Terminal tweak I could do to enable this behavior on the WMM?
    Many thanks, as always, people.

the mouse works fine doing all the other things. well, i dunno, how changing USB would make any difference. Though I did try that, with no effect.
    i have a PS/2 mouse & keyboard connected with a PS/2-USB adapter.
And *sometimes the scroll wheel does work*, & then suddenly stops doing what its supposed to do!!??

  • Keyboard and mouse scroll wheel freeze

A friend and I both using INDD CS4 occasionally find that, while working in an InDesign file, the keyboard input stops working (can't use keyboard shortcuts or enter text) as does the mouse scroll wheel. They work fine in other applications, just not InDesign. We can still click things okay and use menus with the regular mouse buttons, however. The issue stops about a minute after mousing around within the application.
It's a strange phenomenon. Any ideas out there?
Using InDesign 6.0.2 on Windows XP SP3.

This sounds like it might be a driver problem of some sort.
You can eliminate the video driver as the cause (a prime suspect) by right-clciking a blank spot on the desktop and choosing properties. Go to the Settings tab and click the Advanced button. Click the Troubleshooting tab and set harware acceleration to none.
If the problem goes away, find an updated driver for your video card. If not, try installing an updated mouse driver. If neither of those works, come back and tell us.
You should also update to 6.0.3

  • Decouple trackpad and mouse scrolling?

I am using a Magic Trackpad and Logitech LX7 on a MacPro 1,1 running Lion.
I have tried (using System Preferences for mouse and trackpad) to revert the scroll wheel action to scroll in the "old" direction but when I try that the trackpad scrolling direction also changes.
Is there a way to decouple the scrolling direction of the trackpad and mouse wheel?

I am with you both too. I like natural scrolling on my trackpad, but not on a scroll ball for a mouse. The only solution I can find is what someone else brought up in a different thread: there is an app called "Scroll Reverser" that lets you choose which input devices (mouse, trackpad, or tablet) are reversed. Be warned, it is quite confusing to get set up. At least it was for me. But It is working fine now and is just what I wanted.
    The link is http://pilotmoon.com/scrollreverser/
p.s. if this solves your problem, don't forget to mark your problem as "Solved" so others can find the answer too.

  • Sound and mouse scrolling not working in windows 8

I installed windows 8 on my Imac (late 2011). I have managed to solve most of the compatability issues but the three I have left are No Sound (I really need this), scroll wheels dont work on any mouse (nor does the touch functions of the magic mouse), and the facetime camera doesn't work. If you could help me solve any of these issues it would be excellent. Also yes I am aware that apple will eventually release drivers for windows 8 but I need it now, so don't tell me to wait. Thanks in advance for any help you can give!

Wait. Or, remove Windows 8 and install Windows 7. Or, install Windows 8 using Parallels or Fusion rather than using Bootcamp Assistant.

  • Spice on KVM, mouse scrolling no longer works

    Hi,
Using a redhat workstation, I have installed archlinux on KVM using virt-manager, set the display to spice and video to qxl. On the guest arch linux, I have installed from AUR xf86-video-qxl and spice-vdagent.  So far so good.  However,  scrolling using the wheel mouse does not work anymore when the spice-vdagentd is running.  If I stop spice-vdagent, scrolling works again.
Anybody have a workaround with spice-vdagent and mouse scrolling?
    Thanks in advance.

It probably needs a clean the instructions are at
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302417
I clean the scroll ball about every 4 weeks or so

  • Hardware Inventory Keyboar and Mouse

Hi i have a question i want a report that have the basic information abount the workstations, so far i can obtain of the clients that have de configuration manager 2012 the CPU serial (service tag), model, ram, SO and user. from the Monitor the manufacturer,
serial number and model, but i need the serial number, manufacturer and model of the keyboard and mouse too any of you can tell me how to do this? i dont now if this information can be obtain from the registry of windows or any other place, i have search in
all the web but cant find nothing i hope you can help me.

My guess is that information will not be available; at least not for the majority of your systems. If, by chance, each individual computer installed the vendor-specific driver for their keyboard, then perhaps that information might be available in a per-vendor-specific
registry or wmi location, or perhaps buried in an almost-impossible-to-find set of characters imbedded within the pnpdeviceid for that device driver -- but again, ONLY if the per-vendor driver is installed.
For example, you can plug in an HP, Dell, or Microsoft mouse... and Plug-n-Play will detect it and the end user is happily on their way using the "Generic" mouse driver.  Unless they wanted to do super-duper ultra fine control, or there was some compelling
reason to install the vendor-specific mouse driver...I highly doubt it was installed.
otherwise, look in win32_keyboard and win32_mouse on any particular systems' root\cimv2.  but again... I suspect it'll just say "generic" or something equally boring.  I'd be extremely surprised if you found serial number and model for keyboard
    and mouse.
Question:  is this really something that a manager has actually requested?  If so, find out from them how important it actually is to know that.  Will the company save money knowing that?  Lose money less quickly knowing that?  What's
the financial driver for knowing that information?  Depending upon that answer, you can propose a all-out project to enforce having everyone install the appropriate keyboard and mouse driver, and appropriate actions against people that do not follow the
rules and do so.  (I'm being a bit sarcastic here...I suspect no manager with a budget will actually want to devote budget dollars to such a project...)

  • Viewing a video (YouTube, etc.) disables the mouse scroll wheel - switch to Opera and scroll on a page, return to FF and wheel is reenabled.

After viewing a video (usually YouTube, but not exclusively; either directly, or embedded in a web page), the mouse scroll wheel will become disabled. If I then switch over to Opera and use the scroll wheel on any open page, the scroll wheel will be re-enabled upon return to FireFox.

    Important questions:
What ActiveX control are you using?
I'm using the PDF activex control to display a PDF on the front panel of my VI.
What version of LabVIEW are you using?
     I'm using LabVIEW 7.1
What "control pages" are you talking about?
The pages of the PDF: it has several pages. If a mouse is held over it the user can scroll using the scroll wheel, or if they right click they can access the Adobe menu.
It's these that I'd like to inhibit them doing.
    Thanks

  • Overlay an item over an activex control and/ or disabling the mouse scroll wheel

There seems to be several references in the discussion forum to placing a picture control over an activex item to prevent the activex item being selected etc.
The thing is, I can't seem to do it: the activex control is always on top, no matter what I do and no matter what control, or decoration I use.
    What am I doing wrong?
Failing that, is there another way of stopping the user getting access to the activx control?
Essentially what I want to do is stop them accidentally scrolling through the control's pages with the mouse scroll wheel. I've stopped them accessing the scroll bars, BUT it is still possible to use the scroll wheel unfortunately.
Something else I tried was a tab control: placing the activex control on a page and then trying to make the page on top transparent. Needless to say that didn't work....

  • TS2662 trackpad and mouse will not scroll

On 27" iMac using OS 10.7.4, trackpad and mouse will not scroll or swipe, can point with both, click only with mouse, scroll only with keys on keyboard.  What have I done now??? They are all paired with good batteries. Have checked in settings and they are enabled to scroll.

In Lion the scrolling is natural i.e. reversed to the way that computers typically scroll. Think of the scroll as grabbing the page an moving it either up or down vs moving the scroll bar down up or down. Also, the scroll bars are "hidden" by default and only show up when you are scrolling.
Are you using and Apple mouse? If you go to the system preferences and then to the "mouse" section there are options to change the natural scrolling. And if you go to System Preferences and then to "general" you can set it to show or hide the scroll bars.
If this is not what the issue is let me know and let me know what mouse you are using because there is something else that it could be.

  • How do I get the scroll bar back to the right side of the screen and how do I get the mouse scroll wheel to work again?

Yesterday the scroll bar on Firefox was moved from the right to the left of the screen and the webpages do not scroll when using the mouse scroll wheel.

Reset the pref <b>layout.scrollbar.side</b> to '0' or set to '2' to place the scroll bar at the default right side.

My apple wireless mouse scrolls in the opposite direction. When I scroll up, down, right and left it always scrolls the opposite direction. Can anyone help?

    Hi Malky H.,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your mouse is not scrolling in the direction you are expecting, check this Mouse setting in System Preferences:
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Mouse.
Scroll direction: natural: Select this option to move the contents of a window in the same direction as your fingers.
You can find this information here:
OS X Yosemite: Use an Apple Magic Mouse
Note that these steps apply to previous versions of Mac OS X as well.
    Best Regards,
    Jeremy
