JCheckBox with "in-between" state

Hi all,
I'm looking for a way to create a JCheckBox with 3 states: on/off/between. This is for use in a JTree, where every node has a checkbox. Each checkbox will be selected if all childnodes are selected, deselected if all childnodes are deselected, and semi-selected if some childnodes are selected and some are not.
I've seen this in some applications, and the checkbox is then drawn checked, but the inside of the checkbox is then painted in gray instead of white.
It would really surprise me if no-one has done this yet, but I've googled without results. I don't really know where to start, because I would like the checkbox to still use the colors and drawings defined in the current look and feel...

I suppose that the third state of the CheckBox is the visual state we see, if we have previously called the
setDisabledSelectedIcon() method. Isn't it?
So, in the three different cases you call setSelected(true), setSelected(false) and setDisabledSelectedIcon().
And if you want the user to act and change this Check Box, in order for all childrens to listen to? I think there is no problem as the box is not really disabled, it just seems disabled and selected.

    Can a dashboard support a date range prompt? We are trying to make a prompt and use a between statement. Suggestions?

    I think you are using the prompt from the Prompt tab in Answers. What you need to do is use Dashboard prompts.
    Although Dashboard prompts have a "between" operator," if you use the 'between" operator, the ability to save the selections to Presentation Variables (PVs) disappears. When I need a "between" dates type prompts, I do the following:
    1) Create two Dashboard prompts set to PVs, say StartDate and EndDate. (In the Edit Formula area, use a CASE stmt on the column chosen -- doesn't matter what the column is -- so no action is performed on the column) (e.g., CASE WHEN 1=0 THEN ColumnName.TableName ELSE 'TEST' END)
    2) Change control to "Edit Box" so users can input the dates. (If you select two appropriate date columns, you can use the "Drop-down List" option and have the user select a valid date. In that case, you wouldn't use the CASE statement in step 1.)
    2) In your report, filter on the date column, convert the filter to SQL, and type in the following:
    +"Column name"."Table Name"+ BETWEEN '@{StartDate}' AND '@{uEndDate}'
    3) Place both the prompts and the report on a dashboard and when a start and end date is selected, the "between" function is performed on the report.

    The Additions TYPE and LIKE
    The additions TYPE type and LIKE dobj are used in various ABAP statements. The additions can have various meanings, depending on the syntax and context.

    I have a Problem with Romming Between SSIDs withing the same WLC but with deferent VLAN . the WLC are providing the HQ and one of the Branches the Wireless services .
    Am using all the available 9 SSIDs at the HQ , and am using only 4 of it at the Brnche.
    The problem that i have are happening only at the Branch office as i cant room between the SSIDs within Diferent VLANs but i can do it with the one that pointing to the same VLAN. Once the client ( Laptop/Phone ) connected to one of the SSIDs. it imposiible to have him connected to the other ones with Different VLAN. meanwhile, It says its connected to the other SSID but its not getting IP from that pool.
    here is the Show Run-Config from my WLC .. and the Problem happening between the SSID AMOBILE and ASTAFF. i have the Debug while am switching between the SSIDs if needed .

    Well you need to understand the behavior of h-reap or what it's called now, FlexConnect. In this mode, the clients are still remembers on the WLC until the session timer/idle timer expires. So switching between SSID's in h-reap will not be the same when switching when the AP's are in local mode.
    Take a look at the client when connected in FlexConnect in the WLC GUI monitor tab. Thus will show you what ssid and vlan the client is on. Now switch to a different ssid and compare this. It's probably the same because the client has not timed out. Now go back to the other ssid and look again. Now on the WLC, remove or delete the client and then switch to the other ssid at the same time. Or switch SSID's and then remove the client. The client will join the new ssid and in the monitor tab, you should see the info.
    There is no need to have clients have multiple SSID's unless your testing. Devices should only have one ssid profile configured to eliminate any connectivity issues from the device wanting to switch SSID's.

  • What's wrong with my SQL statement?

    Guys,
    Please help me with this one.
    I am using Oracle JDBC Driver 9.2.0. When I did "select column1, column2 from tableName where rownum<1000", it was really fast. But when I do "select column1, column2 from tableName where rownum between 100 and 200", it won't return. The whole program just sit there, like there is some kind of infinite loop going on or something. I don't know Oracle database at all. Is there anything wrong with my SQL statements or there is some special Oracle SQL statement requirement/syntax?

    Please help me with this one.
    I am using Oracle JDBC Driver 9.2.0. When I did
    "select column1, column2 from tableName where
    rownum<1000", it was really fast. But when I do
    "select column1, column2 from tableName where rownum
    between 100 and 200", it won't return. The whole
    program just sit there, like there is some kind of
    infinite loop going on or something. I don't know
    Oracle database at all. Is there anything wrong with
    my SQL statements or there is some special Oracle SQL
    statement requirement/syntax?

    why don't you just try a standard WHERE

    I recall having problems myself using PL/SQL Developer and trying to get the with clause to work on 9.2 some years ago.
    A workaround might be to create a view based on the query.
    Also, your error message is "ORA-00972: identifier is too long"...

  • Other events interfere with abort for state machine started by an event

    In the attached VI there is a state machine that is triggered by a boolean “start” change event.  There is also a boolean “stop” that stop the state machine, a numeric “voltage” that has an event handler and a boolean “exit” that has an event handler.
    The stop button works as expected unless if the voltage value is changed before the stop button is pressed.  I was thinking this might be because there is an event for the voltage value change but there is also an event for the exit button value change and the problem does not occur if the exit button is pressed before stop.
    If anyone could explain the reason I am only running into the problem with the voltage value change and/or how to properly implement the stop/abort function I would appreciate it!

    Well that certainly solves the problem I was having!  The case in a while in a case in a while reminds me of the 10-level deep if statements I used to end up when starting C programming.  I guess the inner case/while are required for the state machine and the outer while is required for the Producer / Consumer.  I always find myself thinking in terms of "if/then" statements and the case/comparison took the place of that. 
    Regardless, problem solved.  If anyone has tips on how to make it (attached) look better, please post them!
    Lynn, I wasn't quite sure about your instructions on passing the exit and stop commands through the queue.  I went with the idea of keeping the long-running loop separate.  I know I still have a bit more to work out such as use of exit button while state machine is running, and the stop button only works in between state machine iterations.

    Hey Tom,
    Glad to see you found your way to the keyboard shortcuts area. Here are a couple notes that might keep your Fireworks experience happy:
    •Try to keep your Fireworks files small... Don't have too many pages when you are going to be using a lot of states; I know it is tempting to have the entire project in one file... separating the different sections by pages and the different states of the sections by the states, but it will be worth your while to keep these files smaller and have multiple files in place of multiple pages. This will do wonders for helping the app remain consistent.
    •If you do choose to use multiple smaller files in place of large ones, use 'Command + `' (1 key left of 1/! key). This will let you flip through open pages. If you want to go in reverse, add shift (Command+Shift+`).
    •Try using the terminal command 'purge' if/when things get slow, this coupled with the aforementioned smaller files has helped me avoid crashes.
    •Make some custom tool panel layouts and save them in Window > Workspace Layouts > Save Current. If you want to update a workspace layout, just type the name of the layout you wish to save over.

    hey, just hoping somone can help me with this return statement
    i have to add a method called "specialReport" this method takes a year as it's parameter. if the parameter is not a year between 1930 and 1969 inclusive it displays an error message, "not a valid year"
    if the parameter is a valid year, then it compares the parameter with the year field. if they are the same, and is the movie has been rented at least five times, the method will display the message "a good year for movies" if the years are different or the movie has NOT been rented at least five times, the method displays the message "try a different year"
    btw, the Year field is : yearReleased

  • Loading Between States

    This has always seemed to be a small issue, but an annoying issue/process for loading a page. I am designing a gallery "ribbon" in muse consisting of black and white images that turn to color on rollover. Instead of loading the "button" together with both the color and black and white image, The B&W image is loaded at a different speed than its Color counterpart so while rolling across the ribbon on first load of the site, (what most visitors will be doing), it seems as though the image disappears until the color image counterpart is loaded (along with the rest of the page). Is there a workaround to get the black and white image to stay until the color image is loaded. At least it wouldn't disappear.

    Understandable, however I still think it's bezarre that a video state can remain in a "buffering" state and never change back to "playing", which it really is. To me, when a video state changes to buffering it means that the video needs to be paused to allow time for the network catch up. The FLVPlayback component does do this for almost all scenarios. However in this one instance at the beginning of playback, the swapping between states and finally ending in a buffering state indefinately is problematic. I figure there was an edge case scenario from within the control that allowed this to leak through.
    I can write extra code to check the buffering state against the playback status of the video. I suppose, given the nature of buffering, that it should be separated from video events and left as its own entity. Such that a video can be paused or playing, yet the buffer may be empty (at which point the video has to pause), full, or at a point that's safe for playback.

    I have a Macbook Pro and am having difficulty printing documents from ‘Pages' from my Hp Deskjet 1510. I have installed the necessary software for the printer and it is connected via USB. Every time I try to print the printer icon comes up as it should, 'printing' and then 'job completed' and then the icon disappears. (Nothing is printed.) I thought it might be something to do with Pages compatibility with the printer but exporting the document to Word or making it a PDF doesn’t change anything. I don’t have Microsoft Word on my computer. The scanner does work and when I printed a ‘Test Page’ that worked too.
    Let me know if you know why this is happening.

    With these settings the network now works flawlessly, however, when i have my ethernet cable plugged in, my internet access via my airport card(on the macbook pro) is no longer available. Hoping you can tell me why this would be with this info i've provided.
    Educated guess. The networking devices have priorities as to which are used. The standard order is that Ethernet has a higher priority than Airport.
    While your Ethernet is unplugged it is inactive and the Mac ignores it. Once you plug it in, the Mac sees that it is active and switches traffic to that interface.
    I actually take advantage of this feature at home, but configuring my Airport and Ethernet with identical fixed IP addresses. Normally I'll use Airport, but if I'm copying a huge file and I want faster performance, I'll just walk my MacBook (previously iBook, previously Powerbook) over to my Ethernet switch and plug in my MacBook. Magically, the Mac detects that the Ethernet is active and continues the file transfer uninterrupted over the faster 100baseT Ethernet connection. When the transfer is finished, or if I really need to move back to the Comfy Chair, I unplug the Ethernet cable, and all activity reverts back to the Airport, all without disrupting any existing networking connections.
    You on the other hand have totally different settings for your Ethernet and your Airport, so when you switch to Ethernet, you basically loose your Airport connections.
    Something you can try:
    System Preferences -> Network
    Gear icon on the bottom left, next to the [+] [-] icons.
    Select *Set Service Order...*
    Now Drag the network interfaces into the perfer priority order you want. In this case put Airport above Ethernet.
    NOTE: You may want to create a new Network Location for this, instead of messing with your normal home Location (which is most likely the default Automatic. That way you have your original you can always fall back to.

    The phone number format as well as the date language and format and the time format are controlled by the Region Format setting. Go to Settings > General >International > Region Format.  When you change a region format, you can go back one page (to International) and see an example of the date/time/phone number format that your selected region format will produce.

  • Issues when installing Windows XP on a PXI-8108 with a Solid State HDD

    Hi,
    I have been assisting a client with installing Windows XP onto a PXI-8108 controller.  They have replaced the default HDD with a solid-state HD.
    We have attempted to run the System Recovery CD.  The recovery part works fine, ie. you select Acronis, it unzips all the files to C drive. 
    However when it gets up to the bit where Win XP Setup starts (after rebooting once the Recovery section completes), we have issues.
    It can't find files, ie. dmconfig.dll, gm.dls, etc on the Win XP CD.  When it tries to find mfc40u.dll, it came up with an error:
    "The file Setup placed on your hard drive is not a valid Win XP System image.  If you are installing from a CD, there may be a problem with the Windows XP CD."
    We have tried two different recovery CDs, and we even tried just a plain Win XP CD.  All had similar issues.
    We have tried different SATA settings in the BIOS - both IDE AND AHCI.
    It may just be that we have a faulty SSD, however it seemed to work ok when we had it connected to the PXI via USB (with the default HDD still in place).  I was able to run diskcheck, which did not bring up any errors.  Disk Management showed things were healthy.
    So what I would like to know, is if there is any issue with a PXI-8108, and SSDs?  We have successfully performed this operation a few months back using the same brand of SDD, but with a PXI-8104.
    Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

    This is more than likely a failing disk.  SSDs don't always report failures in the same way as a rotating drive.  Also, the tools that are helpful with diagnosing rotating drive failures don't always work with SSDs.
    From the thread, it sounds like you have another system with this same SSD and it is working properly.  Does that system have the same PXI Controller and Chassis?
    I have seen these types of errors if the media for the OS installation is corrupt, but it sounds like you have tried different CDs.
    I realize you have limited access to this drive, but here are my recommendations:
    1)  Put the failing SSD in a different system (desktop is preferable), and install a base version of XP.  If this fails, RMA the drive, they normally have 3-5 warranties.
    2)  Run Crystal Mark Info and check for SMART failures:

    3)  You can securely erase the SSD, which is not for the faint of heart.  This will restore the drive to a new condition.  If the drive has a bad cell which is causing data corruption during the OS install, securely erasing the drive will hopefully cause the firmware to map out the bad areas.  This is a good tutorial, just ignore that fact that it is targeted at Intel drives.

    As I wrote Apple will diagnose an Apple product even if it is out of warranty for free. That should be your first step to find out if the problem is the battery or something else.
    Once you have Apple telling you a 7 month old battery is defective (if that turns out to be the case)  then it becomes a game of horse trading. You'll need to speak to the tech and when he tells you there is nothing he can do you will need to speak to the tech manager and when she says most likely there is nothing they can do you go to the store manager, etc.  It is unlikely (though possible) that they will give in easily you need to be firm, polite and let on that you're willing to accept a partial reimbursement.
    So again the first step is to find out what is wrong.

    One of these imports have to be commented. The imports are reside in the source code, not just in jar or other class path entries. If the imports are in different files then you'd browse the sources and find import with the same name but in different name spaces. This is happened if you you don't wanna add a big jar to the class path instead you created a class file with the same name because of huge references. And you just wanted route it out of the jar and possibly remove dependency.
