JComboBox cannot drop down,why?

Question

here is the source code:
import java.awt.*;
import java.awt.event.*;
import javax.swing.*;
import java.applet.Applet;
public class Btn extends Applet
     JComboBox cmb1;
     String[] str={"123","456","789"};
     public void init()
          cmb1=new JComboBox(str);
          add(cmb1);
Here you can see there are 3 items with the cmb1,and when the appletviewer
runs,yes,I can see the JComboBox,and the arrow on it,but when I click the
arrow,it doesn't drop down at all.(When I press arrow keys,the current item
also changes,but doesn't dropdown at all).I don't know why.There seems no
errors....

hi,
two 'mistakes':
- use JApplet instead of Applet
- add your items to an applet and set that panel as your applets contentpane like this:import java.awt.*;
import java.awt.event.*;
import javax.swing.*;
public class Btn extends JApplet
    JComboBox cmb1;
    String[] str={"123","456","789"};
    public void init()
     JPanel pnl = new JPanel (null);
     cmb1=new JComboBox(str);
     cmb1.setBounds(10,10,150,25);
     pnl.add (cmb1);
     setContentPane(pnl);
