JDBC Driver details
hello
I have a JDBC Sender scenario. I installed the JDBC driver and I would like to know where can I get the data for the communication channel:
JDBC Driver
connection
also where and how do I create username and password?
are they u/p on the JDBC Driver or this are the U/P directly to the DB?
Thanks
Kfir

You have already installed driver in PI system,so you shoul know the driver name,which db driver you have installed??

user name and password should get from Data base team,the details what you are going to enter,the user name should have authorizations to access the data base.
data base name also you will get it from Data Base team,like where you updating or inserting data.

These resets appear to coincide with a clearing of the cached queries for the DSN from memory, breaking all my sub queries that try to use the initial cached one. I am grasping at straws to discover the reset culprit, the DSN tests always show OK, there is not packet loss at the switch level. If anyone has some suggestions, I am all ears!
The resets are completely random and under no load. My sql 2008 r2 box is set to unlimited connections.
An example of a DSN setup is :
Maintain Connections [x]
String Format [ ]
Max Pooled Statements 100
Timeout 20 Interval 7
Query Timeout 0
Login Timeout 30
CLOB [ ]
BLOB [ ]
Long Text Buffer 64000
Blob Buffer 64000
Validate Connection [ ]
I am running the following :
CF Enterprise 10,0,13,287689
Tomcat 7.0.23.0
Ubuntu 1204 x64
Java VM 20.4-b02
Java 1.6 (Sun Microsystems Inc)
I have seen it suggested to uncheck the maintain connections advanced options but this doesn't seem like a good approach to the problem and will cause more stress on the sql box IMHO.
I have also seen it suggested to enable Validate Connection but documentation on this is a bit sparse...
Here are more examples of the initial reset error and then the subsequent cache related errors :
Database Error Information:
Native Error Code: 0
SQL State: 08S01
Query Error: [Macromedia][SQLServer JDBC Driver]A problem occurred when attempting to contact the server (Server returned: Connection reset). Please ensure that the server parameters passed to the driver are correct and that the server is running. Also ensure that the maximum number of connections have not been exceeded for this server.

Native Error Code: 0
SQL State: n/a
Query Error:

Thanks in advance to anyone who has a suggestion.Hi, could DBA check MS SQL Server connection logs???
May be server has some limits (for example sessions, memory and e.t.c.) -
OpenSQLException: JDBC driver not supported?
Hi @ all,
I need to connect to a DataSource with the WebAS 7 via SQLJ. As I try to connect to it with the SQL Engine set to "Vendor SQL" I get:
"The given connection "com.sap.engine.services.dbpool.cci.ConnectionHandle" is not an Open SQL connection"
As I try to get a connection to the dataSource via SQLJ with SQL Engine set to "Open SQL" or "Native SQL", I get the following Exception:
ResourceException in method ConnectionFactoryImpl.getConnection(): com.sap.engine.services.dbpool.exceptions.BaseResourceException: SQLException thrown by the physical connection: com.sap.sql.log.OpenSQLException: JDBC driver not supported for MS_SQL_SERVER database.
How can I get the SQLJ- Support?
Kind regards,
Uwe

Uwe KunathHi Uwe, all,
for using Native SQL/JDBC or Open SQL/JDBC, the database itself and the JDBC driver must be recognized as being in the supported set. The answer to that depends on what you mean in detail by "Web AS 7". Roughly speaking, it should be the JDBC driver released by Microsoft.
Open SQL/SQLJ is only available with a Open SQL/JDBC data source. Hence, there is no way around using Open SQL/JDBC.
Now, Open SQL/JDBC and Open SQL/SQLJ both requires tables (and other database objects) to be deployed via the Open SQL for Java Dictionary. Up to and including WebAS Java 7.1, the Open SQL/Dictionary supports deployment to the system database, i.e. the database (and schema) used by the installed server itself.
Given the above, the JDBC driver for a Open SQL/JDBC data source must already be present, because it must be the driver used by the server itself. When defining data sources, it is referred to as "system driver".
This leaves us with a Open SQL/JDBC data source to the system schema. You can then also consider to establish a data source alias to the server's system datasource.
Hope this helps. Best Regards, Dietamr -
Sql Exception on Testing Configuration with SQL Server JDBC driver for XA
I have a requirement of analyzing the behavior of SQL Server JDBC data sources for XA transactions in our application.We have been using Non-XA drivers for both Oracle and SQL Server as we had no requirement for transactions spanning across multiple databases in past.I have setup and tested the XA driver for Oracle (Oracle Driver (Thin XA) for Instance Connections 9.0.1,9.2.0,10,11) in Weblogic 11g and its working perfectly for transactions spanning across two databases.No when I am trying to configure weblogic 11g R1 for Sql server JDBC driver to support XA transactions with driver details as follows,
Server:Weblogic 11g R1
Driver Type: MS Sql Server
Database Driver :Oracle's MS SQL Server Driver(Type 4 XA) Version:7.0,2000,2005)
Database:SQL Server 2005(Single Instance)
and try to create a new data source and select "Test Configuration" and following error is thrown ,

1.Copying sqljdbc.dll copied to SQL_Server_Root/bin directory from WL_HOME\server\lib.
2.Copied instjdbc.sql to sql server machine and executed the script with following output,
Changed database context to 'master'.

creating JDBC XA procedures
instxa.sql completed successfully.
3.Verified that MSDTC service is running on both SQL Server and weblogic machines with XA Transaction enabled and DTC option enabled for both inbound and outbound connections.
4.Copied sqljdbc.jar (version 3.0 downloaded from msdn portal) to "C:\Oracle\Middleware\wlserver_10.3\server\ext\jdbc\sqlserver" directory and updated weblogic_classpth variable in commEnv.cmd file.
set WEBLOGIC_CLASSPATH=%JAVA_HOME%\lib\tools.jar;%BEA_HOME%\utils\config\10.3\config-launch.jar;%WL_HOME%\server\lib\weblogic_sp.jar;%WL_HOME%\server\lib\weblogic.jar;%FEATURES_DIR%\weblogic.server.modules_10.3.2.0.jar;%WL_HOME%\server\lib\webservices.jar;%ANT_HOME%/lib/ant-all.jar;%ANT_CONTRIB%/lib/ant-contrib.jar;C:\Oracle\Middleware\wlserver_10.3\server\ext\jdbc\sqlserver\server\ext\jdbc\sqlserver\sqljdbc.jar
Can some one please provide some input on whats causing this and any other steps needs to be followed to implement XA support using SQL Server JDBC driver.You seem to have done everything correctly and diligently. I would ask that you open
an official support case. -
Hello All -
I'm new to Java and I'm attempting to connect a newly created MySQL database to a simple Java application as shown here.
import java.sql.*;
public class SimpleJDBC {
public static void main(String[] args) throws SQLException, ClassNotFoundException{
// Load the JDBC driver
Class.forName("c:/Drew/JDBCon/mysql-connector-java-5.0.6-bin.jar");
System.out.println("Driver Loaded!!!");
// Establish a connection
Connection connection = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql://root/ce_workshop");
System.out.println("Database connected");
// Create a statement
//Statement statement = connection.createStatement();
// Execute a statement
//ResultSet resultSet = statement.executeQuery("SELECT * FROM XXX");
// Iterate through the results
//while (resultSet.next())
// System.out.println(resultSet.getString(1));
// Close the connection
connection.close();
1) I've setup a the following directory in Microsoft Windows:
C:\Drew\JDBCon\
2) I've added the mysql-connector-java-5.0.6-bin.jar file to the C:\Drew\JDBCon\ directory
3) I've added the SimpleJDBC.java file to the C:\Drew\JDBCon\ directory
4) I've compiled the SimpleJDBC.java file using the following:
C:\Drew\JDBCon>javac -cp C:/Drew/JDBCon SimpleJDBC.java
5) Then I run the file:
C:\Drew\JDBCon>java -cp C:/Drew/JDBCon SimpleJDBC
But get the following error:
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: c:/Drew/JDBCon/mysql-connector-java-5.0.6-bin.jar
at java.lang.Class.forName0(Native Method)
at java.lang.Class.forName(Unknown Source)
at SimpleJDBC.main(SimpleJDBC.java:7)
I've tried many things, but nothing seems to work.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
DrewHi jschell,
Just a little background...
For the last 4-5 years, I've been using Microsoft Access and VBA to develop databases and small utilities to assist in certain jobs at the company I work for. Due to being a small division of a large corporation, and the reluctance for upper management to modify the purchased company databases, a small group of us started simple data extracts years ago and then uploaded the data it into Microsoft Access for both analytical and reporting purposes. As you may know, Access is very limited, and weve taken it far beyond the intended limit. We deliberately do not load some data tables due to the overwhelming size (2+ million records).
In the last 6 months, in my free time, Ive taken the initiative to learn (or attempt to learn) both MySQL and Java (SQL is no problem for me). Ive bought Introduction to Java Programming - Comprehensive Version - 5th Edition and read a good majority of it (some parts skimmed) along with reading a MySQL book; majority of it being SQL that I already understand and have for years.
I completed the book last week; keep in mind, not in utter detail. I had thought that I could get started with a simple application that would connect to a simple MySQL table and then build an understanding of the Java language from there.
I didnt mention in my last post that I was able to get the MySQL driver to load and a connection established in Netbeans. I figured that instead of completely relying on Netbeans for my first real application that I should get it to work through the DOS prompt.
I realize that my understanding of Java is probably at a 3 on a scale of 1-100 right now, however that is why Im writing to this forum. My main goal is to get the simplest possible application running using a MySQL driver and obtain a connection. I would greatly appreciate any help in getting this done, or a recommended website tutorial on creating a simple JDBC application. Ive attempted to find these, and did, but wasnt able to find anything that I could understand.
Also, I do understand classes and that you import, extend, or inherit them when writing programs, I just havent had the chance yet to practice this.
Regards,
Drew -
More precise JDBC driver error messages?
Hi,
is there a way to tell the Oracle JDBC driver (9.0.2.3) to provide more detailed error messages in an SQLException message string when a table cannot be found? The usual message "Table or view does not exist" does not provide information on the actual table or view that was missing. I would like the table or view name to be included in the message provided by the SQLException.
(In general I would appreciate more detailed error information in the Oracle JDBC driver exception messages.)
Best regards Uweperhaps this might help:
* Get error message of an SQLException with the following form:
* <p>
* <code>Code=<Vendor-specific error code>:'<error message>':SQLState=<SQLState></code>
* <code>
* Note: SQLState "S1000" is returned for general errors or if driver does not support SQLState.
* @param sqlException SQLException to create error code from.
* @return Specific error message or null if <i>sqlException</i> not available.
public static String toString(SQLException sqlException) {
String result = null;
if (sqlException != null) {
StringBuffer sb = new StringBuffer();
while (sqlException != null) {
sb.append("RDBMS Vendor Code ");
sb.append(sqlException.getErrorCode());
sb.append(": \"");
sb.append(sqlException.getMessage());
sb.append("\" : SQLState=");
sb.append(sqlException.getSQLState());
sqlException = sqlException.getNextException();
result = sb.toString();
}//else: input unavailable
return result;
}//toString()
* Get string representation of a SQLWarning.
* @param sqlWarning
* @return Specific error message or null if <i>sqlWarning</i> not available.
public static String toString(SQLWarning sqlWarning) {
String result = null;
if (sqlWarning != null) {

sb.append(sqlWarning.getErrorCode());
sb.append(", SQLState=");
sb.append(sqlWarning.getSQLState());
sb.append(",message=");
sb.append(sqlWarning.getMessage());
sb.append(",cause=");
sb.append(sqlWarning.getCause());
sb.append(";");
sqlWarning = sqlWarning.getNextWarning();
}//next subsequent warning

Database Classname: com.businessobjects.datafederator.jdbc.DataFederatorDriver
Any Advice on what I may have missed?The issue was solved, thanks to Patric Wan:
u201CFailed to open the connection. Details: JDBC driver not found.u201D
This means Data Federator JDBC driver was not added to:
C:\Program Files\Business Objects\common\<version>\java\CRConfig.xml
How to connect the Data Federator Server using JDBC?
1. Retrieve the following files from the machine where Data Federator is installed, from the directory [data-federator-installation-dir]/JdbcDriver/lib.
- thindriver.jar
- avalon-framework-4.1.5.jar
- jacorb.jar
- log4j-1.2.8.jar
- logkit-1.2.jar
2. Copy these files to a directory of your choice ([your-jdbc-driverdirectory]).
3. Add [your-jdbc-driver-directory]/thindriver.jar to CRConfig.xml <Add to Classpath tag, you can refer to original sample.CRConfig.xml should be at: C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Common\4.0\java\CRConfig.xml, or search your BOBJ products install to find this file>
4. URL: jdbc:leselect://<host>[:<port>][/[<catalog>]][[;param-name=value]*]

Test JDBC Driver For SQL Server 2000 Failed
Hi:
I have trouble setting up the database connection using jdbc driver in the studio, could anyone help me please? I have MS SQL 2000 MSDE installed on my local machine. I downloaded and installed the JDBC Driver for MSSQL 2000 from Microsoft.
I put the following jar files into the/lib/ext/ directory
msbase.jar
mssqlserver.jar
msutil.jar
In Studio 4.1 EE, I went to Runtime>Databases>Drivers, Add a new Driver with these information:
Name: MSSQL Driver
Driver: com.microsoft.jdbcx.sqlserver.SQLServerDataSource
URL Prefix: jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://localhost:<PORT>[;DatabaseName=<DB>]
Next I run the Test Driver...
Database URL: jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://<machineName>\\<instanceName>;DatabaseName=<xxx>
User: <username>
Password: <password>
I receieved the a popup box and message in the output window:
Internal test driver incomplete. the driver may not support the required DatabaseMetadata methods. take a look at the Output Window for details.

Your replies are greatly appreciated.
Perrycom.microsoft.jdbcx.sqlserver.SQLServerDataSource is a very old direct driver. I'd recommend using the DataDirect 3.2 driver. It can be found at:

Issue encountered when Login as sysdba role using Thin Oracle JDBC Driver
Hello all,
we are now considering to use Thin oracle JDBC driver to create database in our project, but we met one issue when we tried to connect to oracle as sysdba role using Thin driver, and it throws java.sql.SQLException: Io Exception: SO Exception was generated, I have found some tips on oracle jdbc website and it says :
How do I connect as SYSDBA or SYSOPER?
The only way to do this is to use the Properties object when connecting, rather than specifying the username and password as strings. Put the username into the "user" property, and the password into the "password" property. Then, put the mode into the "internal_logon" property. Something like the following:
Properties props = new Properties();
props.put("user", "scott");
props.put("password", "tiger");
props.put("internal_logon", "sysoper");
Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection (url, props);
When connecting as SYSDBA or SYSOPER using the Thin driver, the RDBMS must be configured to use a password file. See "Creating and Maintaining a Password File" in the "Oracle Database Administrator's Guide".
So, i did execute orapwd command to create a password file and also set remote_login_passwordfile=execlusive in my initxxx.ora initial parameter file, however, when i tried to connect, it failed.
private static void createEmsdbDatabase(){
String url = "jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:";
StringBuffer sqlStatement = new StringBuffer();
sqlStatement.append("create database xxx");
sqlStatement.append("maxdatafiles 254 ");
sqlStatement.append("maxinstances 8 ");
sqlStatement.append("maxlogfiles 32 ");
sqlStatement.append("character set UTF8 ");
sqlStatement.append("national character set UTF8 ");
sqlStatement.append("DATAFILE 'c:\\oracle\\xxx\\system01.dbf' SIZE 18M REUSE ");
sqlStatement.append("logfile 'c:\\oracle\\xxx\\redo01.log' SIZE 2M REUSE, ");
sqlStatement.append("'c:\\oracle\\xxx\\redo02.log' SIZE 2M REUSE, ");
sqlStatement.append("'c:\\oracle\\xxx\\redo03.log' SIZE 2M REUSE ");
try {
DriverManager.registerDriver(new OracleDriver());
Properties props = new Properties();
props.put("user", "sys");
props.put("password", "password");
props.put("database","xxx");
props.put("internal_logon", "sysdba");
Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection(url, props);
Statement statement = conn.createStatement();
statement.executeUpdate(sqlStatement.toString());
statement.close();
conn.close();
} catch (SQLException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
But what made me puzzled a lot is if i use OCI driver, it did work great, why??? guys, anybody knows, please give me some tips, thanks in advance.
regards,
Kaixuan @ Shanghaiclarify my question in detail:
Step 1 : create password file using orapwd command
Step 2 : create database instance using oradim command
Step 3 : login using sys as sysdba to startup database, e.g startup nomount pfile='...\initxxx.ora'
Step 4 : create database.
java code showing below:
private static void createEmsdbDatabase(){
String url = "jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:";
StringBuffer sqlStatement = new StringBuffer();
sqlStatement.append("create database xxx ");
sqlStatement.append("maxdatafiles 254 ");
sqlStatement.append("maxinstances 8 ");
sqlStatement.append("maxlogfiles 32 ");
sqlStatement.append("character set UTF8 ");
sqlStatement.append("national character set UTF8 ");
sqlStatement.append("DATAFILE 'c:\\oracle\\xxx\\system01.dbf' SIZE 18M REUSE ");
sqlStatement.append("logfile 'c:\\oracle\\xxx\\redo01.log' SIZE 2M REUSE, ");
sqlStatement.append("'c:\\oracle\\xxx\\redo02.log' SIZE 2M REUSE, ");
sqlStatement.append("'c:\\oracle\\xxx\\redo03.log' SIZE 2M REUSE ");
try {
DriverManager.registerDriver(new OracleDriver());
Properties props = new Properties();
props.put("user", "sys");
props.put("password", "password");
props.put("database","xxx");
props.put("internal_logon", "sysdba");
Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection(url, props);
Statement statement = conn.createStatement();
statement.executeUpdate(sqlStatement.toString());
statement.close();
conn.close();
} catch (SQLException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
issue was met here, when i tried to login as sysdba using sys, and in my java code, i use Thin driver, it then thrus exception, but when OCI driver is used, it works great, i don't know why.
that is, when i use "jdbc:oracle:oci8:@" as database URL and then properties.put("database","xxx"), it works great. but, when i use "jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:" as database URL and then properties.put("database","xxx"), it failed. hopefully, i have clarified my question clearly. thanks. -

Weblogic 12.1.3 JDBC driver
I migrated our application from 12.1.2 ADF to 12.1.3 and we have issues, a possible cause can be JDBC 4.1 , I want to use JDBC 4.0 driver for our datasource, I found ojdbc6.jar file in WLS 12.1.3 too, if this is JDBC 4.0 how can I use it ,if not and I copy over ojdbc6.jar from 12.1.2 ADF ,how can I define it in datasource list of drivers.
Hi Joe,
our app is working on ADF 12.1.2 with proxy user but it doesnt work on ADF 12.1.3, I logged issue in ADF forum but no luck only problem could be JDBC difference , casue we get follwoing exceptions:

Cannot establish connection - JDBC driver for MS SQL server 2000
Hi,
We are facing problems in connecting to SQL server 2000.
We have installed the latest version of the driver from followin link and following
https://websmp108.sap-ag.de/msplatforms > SQL Server > JDBC Driver for MS SQL Server (Version 3.70.10)
We have given the following entries in our communication channel:
JDBC Driver : com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
Connection: jdbc:sqlserver://<SQLserver IP>:1433;databaseName=production_info
Please let us know the procedure to find if the JDBC driver for SQL 2000 is installed from our SAP XI.
ERROR DETAILS:
Error during database connection to the database URL 'jdbc:sqlserver://<SQLserverIP>:1433;databaseName=production_info' using the JDBC driver 'com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver': 'com.sap.aii.adapter.jdbc.sql.DriverManagerException: Cannot establish connection to URL 'jdbc:sqlserver://<SQLserverIP>:1433;databaseName=production_info': SAPClassNotFoundException: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver'
Please help.
Regards,
RehanHi Chris,
We have used the same because we have downloaded the driver from following location
https://websmp108.sap-ag.de/msplatforms ; > SQL Server > JDBC Driver for MS SQL Server (Version 3.70.10)
I have tried with both "com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver"; and "com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver";, but still I am facing the same error.
Service market place has given the driver as "JDBC Driver for MS SQL Server (Version 3.70.10)", is there a way to find out if it is for 2000 or 2005?
Thanks for your reply.
Regards,
Rehan -
Need help with MS SQL server JDBC driver
Anyone has experience getting ACS working with SQL2005? We keep getting ‘com.adobe.adept.persist.DatabaseException: java.sql.SQLException: No suitable driver’
We’re using sqljdbc.jar and sqljdbc4.jar that downloaded from Microsoft website. We added this to every library folder under tomcat, JRE and SDK but it did not help. Any suggestion will be helpful.
Thanks-Hi,
We have ACS with SQL Server 2005 Std correctly working.
We have this settings:
############ SQL Server Connection ############
com.adobe.adept.persist.sql.driverClass=com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
com.adobe.adept.persist.sql.connection=jdbc:sqlserver://ip-addressSQL:PortSQL;databaseName =Adept
com.adobe.adept.persist.sql.dialect=microsoft
com.adobe.adept.persist.sql.user=userSQL
com.adobe.adept.persist.sql.password=passSQL
Wi use Microsoft SQL Server JDBC Driver 3.0 downloaded from Microsoft website (http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=21599)
Good luck, -
I have just set up the developer edition coldfusion and a standard SQL Server. When trying to set up a datasource i recieve the following error: [Macromedia][SQLServer JDBC Driver]No more data available to read. I have no clue what this means. I have tried to find some documentation on this but with now luck. Can anyone help?
Here are some details:
SQL SERVER CONNECTION MANAGER:
Trying to connect to a localhost sql server
I have TCP/IP Enabled
Dynamic Ports is set to 0 under IP ALL
127.0.0.1 is enabled and the port is set to 1433
COLDFUSION ADMIN:
server: 127.0.0.1
port 1433
username/password set to null (using windows authentication)
Has anyone ran in to this issue?
Thanks for helping.You can use domain credentials with CF. To do so you've got to create the datasource in Windows. Then, in ColdFusion you select ODBC mapping and point it to the Windows DS.
If I recall correctly, there's a switch in SQL 2005 that you've got to flip to allow SA rights to log in from the network. I could be way off base on that one though.
You may want to consider creating a new SQL account with its own password and assigning it to your target database (usually, I grant data reader and writer - your app may vary) and use those new credentials in your JDBC mapping in CF. -
Oracle.jdbc.driver.OraclePreparedStatement
When I go into a Query Template and click on the "SQL Query Details" I get the following pop-up warning.
oracle.jdbc.driver.OraclePreparedStatement
I select ok on the warning box and none of the tables show up in the Available table list. This Query template has been working for months and I have made no changes to it. I have asked the DBA if they have made any changes to the DB and they claim they have not. Does anyone know what this error/warning is or have any idea of any logs I could research on the MII platform to get more details?
Thanks
