JDBC/Multiple Table References
I've got a procedure that works through Quest's SQL Navigator, yet gives me exceptions when I try to run it through Java. I have narrowed the problem down to a select statement within the stored procedure that looks like this...
SELECT
FROM
request potential,
request my_request,
The problem is arising from the fact that I use a table twice in the from clause, so I can use it in different ways in the where clause later on. Has anyone experienced a similar problem? Any help will be much appreciated, thanks...

How do I reference multiple tables in SSAS Data Source View Named Calculation functionality?
Hi SSASers -
On the Data Source View node of SSAS Visual Studio Interface, I want to create a named calculation that references multiple tables. Something like: CASE WHEN tableA.Column1 = 'Y' Then tableB.Column1 ELSE tableB.Column2 End, but the compiler throws an error
here "Deferred prepare could not be completed".
What is the syntax for referencing multiple tables on this node or how else can multiple tables be used to create a calculated value in SSAS? I'm new to SSAS and so far have been building big views and building calculations this way. Another option is the
Calculation tab off the cube node but this calculation will need to be based off of dimensions AND measures so please provide a syntax example here also.
Thanks in advance!
CarlThanks Jiri! The named query functionality off the Data Source View node is exactly what I was looking for - it's just a view on the SSAS side of things instead of the relational dbase.
Sorry for the delayed answer verification - got pulled into something else last week. Carl

JDBC-XI-FILE scenario. How to extract data from multiple tables
Hi,
At this moment I didn't have the access for XI system. So here I have some silly question. Could you please clarify the same ??
If I got to extract data from single table using JDBC adapter I can put the below query in communication channel
SELECT *FROM orders WHERE new='true'.
But if I got to extract data from multiple tables, logic to be used should be like as shown below. ( from previous thread------prabhu).
SELECT <Table_2>.EID, <Table_2>.FName, <Table_2>.LName, <Table_1>.REC_DAT, <Table_1>.DESCRP
FROM <Table_1> INNER JOIN <Table_2> on
<Table_1>.CARDNO = <Table_2>.CARD
where REC_DAT = <condition>
union
SELECT <Table_2>.EID, <Table_2>.FName, <Table_2>.LName, <Table_1>.REC_DAT, <Table_1>.DESCRP
FROM <Table_1> INNER JOIN <Table_2> on
<Table_1>.CARDNO = <Table_2>.CARD
where REC_DAT = <condition>
But my query is ........how to put the above entire code in one line. (i.e in Qery place of communication channel ) ??
Thanks
KumarHi Palnati,
You either use a select query with join or a stored procedure which will contain the logic to extract the data from multiple tables. But, the limitation in case of stored procedure is u can hv only one selct query in it.
You write ur actual query provided in the parameter 'Query SQL Statement". u can also wrt a stored procedure in it. Also, u can provide a update statement in it which will update a certain flag so tht u don selct the data again.

Sender JDBC Adapter : Fetch records from multiple tables
Hi Friends,
I am using sender JDBC adapter to select few records from DB2 database table.
This scenario is working fine.
Now my requirement is to fetch records from 3 tables. These table are independent to each other. There is no primary key or foreign key.
Please let me know how to write the sql in sender JDBC adapter to fetch records from these 3 tables.
Thanks,
Sandeep Mauryahi sandeep...
if the tables are completely independent and do not share any primary / foreign key relation ship...
why dont u think towards creating a seperate interface for each of them..
or if u still want to select from multiple table at once..the best way would be to write a stored procedure on the sender side which do all the fetching n processing and pass the final resultset to PI
or u can think towards fetching the data from 1 table and then in UDF do lookup from other tables..which again is tricky and performace intensive -
In reciever jdbc adapter config sending data to multiple tables
Hi Masters,
Can u help me with examples step by step procedure of sending data to multiple tables in reciever jdbc adapter .. configuration....
thanks in advance,
jp.Hi,
My understanding is you are trying to use one scenario for ex a file to jdbc and want to post data into multiple tables.
If you are using Message Prortocol XML SQL format then once you define the data type for one structure then juz right click on the statement name and select Duplicate. This will create another statement in the same data type change the table name and the parameters in the duplicates strucutre.
<b>Document Formats for the Receiver JDBC Adapter</b>
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/2e/96fd3f2d14e869e10000000a155106/content.htm
All the other configurations are same simple file to jdbc scenario.

Inserting data into multiple tables in jdbc
I am doing on file to jdbc. Now I got a requirement to insert data into multiple tables on the receiver side. How can I do this ?
Hi,
you are going to insert data into 4 tables in a sequence one after another , I see three options.
1) Stored procedure and 2) creating 4 statement data structure (one for each table)
The third option is writing a SQL with join for the 4 tables and use action command = SQL_DML. Example as follows....
Write SQL code and place it in access tag. Pass values for the columns using key tag...
<stmt>
<Customers action="SQL_DML">
<access> UPDATE Customers SET CompanyName=u2019$NAME$u2019, Address=u2019$ADDRESS$' WHERE CustomerID='$KEYFIELD$u2019
</access>
<key>
<NAME>name</NAME>
<ADDRESS>add </ADDRESS>
<KEYFIELD>1</KEYFIELD>
</key>
</Customers>
</stmt>
Refer this http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi71/helpdata/en/44/7b7855fde93673e10000000a114a6b/content.htm
Hope this helps .... -
Hi All,
I am a newbie for T-Sql, I came across a SP where multiple tables are engaged using multiple joins but the where clause contain a column field without any table reference and assigned for an incoming variable,like
where 'UserId = @UserId'
instead - no table reference like 'a.UserId = @Userid' ............ Can any please do refer to me any material that clears my mind regarding such issue................... help is appreciated.
Thank You.As suggested above, use table alias with columns for unique referencing and to make the code easier to read.
BOL example for table aliasing:
USE AdventureWorks;
GO
SELECT S.CustomerID, S.Name AS Store, A.City, SP.Name AS State, CR.Name
AS CountryRegion
FROM Sales.Store AS S
JOIN Sales.CustomerAddress AS CA ON CA.CustomerID = S.CustomerID
JOIN Person.Address AS A ON A.AddressID = CA.AddressID
JOIN Person.StateProvince SP ON
SP.StateProvinceID = A.StateProvinceID
JOIN Person.CountryRegion CR ON
CR.CountryRegionCode = SP.CountryRegionCode
ORDER BY S.CustomerID ;
GO
GO
LINK:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms124824(v=sql.100).aspx
Check the use of TABLE ALIASes and COLUMN ALIASes in the following blog:
http://www.sqlusa.com/bestpractices2005/organizationtree/
Without the use of aliases the code would become unreadable.

JDBC outbound reading from multiple tables
Hi,
I have a scenario in which I have to read data from multiple tables.
The keys of these tables (employee details) are dependent on a employee master table.
Now there is a 1-N relationship between master and the details table. I have to send the data to an IDOC.
I am stuck since reading from all the tables at the same time is not possible.
Please suggest some solution.
Thanks,
VaibhavHi Bhavesh,
Thanks for ur reply. It solved my problem.
Full points to you...
Pls help me with one more issue.
As per the method u told i am reading from multiple tables. Each table has data for multiple employees.
The response message is of the format
<STATEMENT_Table1_response>
<row>
Data for emp 1
</row>
<row>
Data for emp 1
</row>
</STATEMENT_Table1_response>
<STATEMENT_Table1_response>
<row>
Data for emp 2
</row>
<row>
Data for emp 2
</row>
</STATEMENT_Table1_response>
<STATEMENT_Table2_response>
<row>
Data for emp 1
</row>
<row>
Data for emp 1
</row>
</STATEMENT_Table2_response>
<STATEMENT_Table2_response>
<row>
Data for emp 2
</row>
<row>
Data for emp 2
</row>
</STATEMENT_Table2_response>
I want to collect it to an idoc where i have data of each employee collected together. Like
<Emp1>
<Data from Table1>
<Data from Table2>
</Emp1>
<Emp2>
<Data from Table1>
<Data from Table2>
</Emp2>
I have tried many ways and looks like a custom code in java have to written.
Is there anything else possible?
Thanks in Advance,

I'm having trouble getting my xml document inserted into multiple tables. My xml has a parent child relationship. The main node is the parent I'll call <CAKE> then later on in the xml doc it has a node called <INGREDIENTS> which is a repeating element (more than 1). I need to insert information from the root node, <CAKE> into 1 table and all the info from <INGREDIENTS> node into another table.
I've tried to get Steve Muench's book a try (chapter 14) but when I try to run the examples from the book (XMLLoader) i get the following error.

Using radio button selection in multiple tables
Hello All,
I've got a bit of a design issue and it being a Friday my brain is a bit foggy and I can't seem to figure out a solution.
what I want to do is have 3 tables. The user should only be able to select one line from any of the three tables.
I can do this by having events that clear down selection on the two other tables on any selection of the third, but the select buttons of tables don't really give the UI impression that only one row can be selected. To do this I'd like to use the radio button element.
so
table A
choice - name
(o) - Anne
(o) - Bob
(o) - Charlie
Table B
choice - name
(x) - David
(o) - Ellen
(o) - Fran
Table C
choice - name
(o) - George
Here the entry in table B for David is selected. But any selection of any of the other options should deselected.
My thoughts are to use a radio button ui element, bind the "selected" value to a unique id for each row/table (an attribute of the node element for each table) and the value to a common shared attribute (not table specific).
Any better ideas - and certainly any which would mean I'm not going to have to maintain a lookup table of my unique ids and node elements to find out which one is selected?
Cheers,
ChrisOk - here's how I did it.
I created another lookup table which had a guid and reference to the element.
in the each elements I had a guid which I bound to the key for selection property of the radio button in the table.
I then bound the selected key property to an attribute that was common to all elements.
in my "processing" logic I read the selected key, read the lookup table - and therefore got the reference to the selected element.
Would have been an awful lot easier if I could have used a reference to the element itself as the "key" - but that was required to be a character field.
[image showing radio button selection working across multiple tables|http://i51.tinypic.com/bi79dx.jpg]
End result works quite nicely.
Cheers,

Load Multiple Tables (schemas) from same XML file
Hi,
This is first time i am working XML files.
I have one XML file with two tables (schema). I need to load those two tables into two different Target tables.
This is the startegy to choose tables.
<Entry type="full"> --Table 1
<Entry type="short">--Table 2
I am try to find the tables like this using condition split (Type == "Full" ) but tables are not splitting as expected, is am i going with wrong approach??
Can anyone suggest me to process multiples tables from same XML file??Hi Naveen,
After the issue in my environment, the package works well that the data in the XML file load to two destination tables based on one column values. The screenshot is for your reference:
To troubleshoot this issue, could you please check the values in the type column? Verify the values have exactly the same characters, case sensitivity. It seems that you haven’t write correct values in the Conditional Split Transformation. They should be like

LEFT OUTER JOIN multiple tables - using the 9i syntax
I've always written my queries using the (+) operator for outer joins. I want to start using the new ANSI standard available in 9i. I can do it when I'm joining two tables in a simple query, but how does it work when I am joining multiple tables?
Here is an example of some SQL that works with the (+) outer join syntax. How can I convert this to use the LEFT OUTER JOIN syntax?
SELECT *
FROM audit_entry aue,
audit_table aut,
audit_statement aus,
audit_row aur,
audit_row_pkey aup1,
audit_row_pkey aup2
WHERE aue.audit_entry_id = aus.audit_entry_id
AND aut.table_name = 'TEST_AUDITING'
AND aut.table_owner = 'CLA_JOURNAL'
AND aus.audit_table_id = aut.audit_table_id
AND aur.audit_statement_id (+) = aus.audit_statement_id
AND aup1.audit_row_id (+) = aur.audit_row_id
AND aup1.pk_column_name (+) = 'TEST_AUDTING_PK_1'
AND aup2.audit_row_id (+) = aur.audit_row_id
AND aup2.pk_column_name (+) = 'TEST_AUDITING_PK_2'
I can join audit_statement to audit_entry easy enough, but then I want to join audit_table to audit_statement, how do I do that, do I start nesting the join statements?
Thanks
RichardThanks for getting back so quickly, I have tried the suggested SQL with mixed results:
SELECT COUNT(*)
FROM audit_entry aue
JOIN audit_statement aus ON aue.audit_entry_id = aus.audit_entry_id
JOIN audit_table aut ON aus.audit_table_id = aut.audit_table_id
RIGHT OUTER JOIN audit_row aur ON aur.audit_statement_id = aus.audit_statement_id
RIGHT OUTER JOIN audit_row_pkey aup1 ON aup1.audit_row_id = aur.audit_row_id
RIGHT OUTER JOIN audit_row_pkey aup2 ON aup2.audit_row_id = aur.audit_row_id
WHERE aut.table_name = 'TEST_AUDITING_TWO'
AND aut.table_owner = 'CLA_JOURNAL'
AND aup1.pk_column_name = 'TEST_AUDTING_PK_1'
AND aup2.pk_column_name = 'TEST_AUDITING_PK_2'
I had to change the order slightly, between the first two JOINs but otherwise it executed OK. My problem is, it should only return 175 rows but its returning 30625 rows. If I comment out the second reference to audit_row_pkey I get the expected result:
SELECT COUNT(*)
FROM audit_entry aue
JOIN audit_statement aus ON aue.audit_entry_id = aus.audit_entry_id
JOIN audit_table aut ON aus.audit_table_id = aut.audit_table_id
RIGHT OUTER JOIN audit_row aur ON aur.audit_statement_id = aus.audit_statement_id
RIGHT OUTER JOIN audit_row_pkey aup1 ON aup1.audit_row_id = aur.audit_row_id
--RIGHT OUTER JOIN audit_row_pkey aup2 ON aup2.audit_row_id = aur.audit_row_id
WHERE aut.table_name = 'TEST_AUDITING_TWO'
AND aut.table_owner = 'CLA_JOURNAL'
AND aup1.pk_column_name = 'TEST_AUDTING_PK_1'
--AND aup2.pk_column_name = 'TEST_AUDITING_PK_2'
It looks the same condition is being used in each case but why do I suddenly get so many rows - its joining differently somehow. It must be to do with the order, do I need to bracket the query?
Thanks again
Richard
