Jdbc parameters in weblogic

I want to know about the different parameters in weblogic which can improve performance.Is there any doc which help us understand this.I know few parameters like datacache, implicitcaching ,statement cache etc.But i would like to exact purpose of these and how can we achieve the performance optimization by tuning these parameters
Pandu

Hi,
Can you go to "Services --> JDBC --> <Datasource> --> ConnectionPool --> Advanced". Here you can see various parameters related to performance tuning. Here is the link to the document "http://download-llnw.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13222_01/wls/docs100/pdf/jdbc_admin.pdf".
Thanks.

  • JDBC parameters in *.dbc file

    Hi,
    I have JDBC parameters as bellow , EBS version 12.1.3
    FND_JDBC_BUFFER_DECAY_INTERVAL=60
    FND_JDBC_BUFFER_MIN=5
    FND_JDBC_BUFFER_MAX=20
    FND_JDBC_STMT_CACHE_SIZE=100
    FND_JDBC_USABLE_CHECK=true
    FND_JDBC_PLSQL_RESET=false
    FND_JDBC_CONTEXT_CHECK=true
    FND_JDBC_BUFFER_DECAY_SIZE=50
    FND_MAX_JDBC_CONNECTIONS=100
    MY Assumption is as bellow
    When JVM starts.
    +Each JVM pool will open 5 connections in each pool.If all 5 are used it will open  5more connections as so on..
    +And Max connections per jvm at any give time is 100.
    + I am getting confused around FND_JDBC_BUFFER_MAX
    My Assumption is each pool have FND_MAX_JDBC_CONNECTIONS - FND_JDBC_BUFFER_MAX at any time,
    Can somone please provide more details on FND_JDBC_BUFFER_MAX .
    MOS doc does not provide accurate details.
    -Thanks
    Vijay

    What happens if all 20 Connections are actively used  as of now.. They will still terminated / cleaned ?
    If the connections are still being used then more available connections will be added to the pool (temporarily) until some of them get cleaned. If more JDBC connections need to be allocated and all the existing ones are still in use then you would start encountering out of processes/connections errors. That's why you need to tune your parameters (based on the number of JVMs, load, JDBC connections, ..etc) to avoid such errors.
    So it means that pool will start from FND_JDBC_BUFFER_MIn and once it reached FND_JDBC_BUFFER_MAX , buffer maintenance starts.
    If oool reached FND_JDBC_BUFFER_MAX, again FND_JDBC_BUFFER_MIN number of new connection will opens. but each pool will try maintain FND_JDBC_BUFFER_MAX of connections (20) under normal usage .
    Am i Correct ?
    Correct.
    Please keep in mind that each JVM has its own JDBC pool.
    Thanks,
    Hussein

  • Using Oracle8 JDBC Drivers with WebLogic 5.1

    We are currently using the BEA WebLogic 5.1 application server and Oracle 8.0.4. We are using the JDBC OCI driver that came out-of-the-box with the WebLogic software. However, we would like to use the driver developed by Oracle, instead.
    Does the Oracle8 JDBC driver (both type 2 and type 4) interoperate with WebLogic 5.1? If not, what are the problems that prohibit them being used together?
    Thanks... Steve Bursch

    Summarizing from previous threads on this forum (I have not run this configuration myself):
    The main issue is that you will not be able to use Oracle-specific functionality from the Oracle driver.
    This includes all types in oracle.sql, or any APIs on oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleXxxx classes, or JPublisher-generated wrappers for SQL Object Types, collections, or REFs.
    Also, since Oracle does not support side-channel result sets, but requires explicit REF CURSOR out parameters from stored procedures/functions, you will not be able to return REF CURSORs to the client, from stored proedures or functions - the getCursor() API that is required is Oracle-specific and not part of JDBC.
    As long as you limit yourself strictly to standard JDBC types, and do not require the return of result sets from the server, you should probably be fine.

    I need access to the remote database (oracle 8) in cf thru' dsn.
    Where should I create DSN (in local system or in weblogic 7.0 connection pooling)?
    How should I get access to the remote database? While using Oracle thin driver, you need to install Oracle client on ur comp.
    U can create a System DSN (Control Panel - Data sources ODBC)
    Create a new System DSN provided Oracle client is installed on ur comp and it installs the required DLL on ur comp.
    This will suffice ur DSN requirment in Coldfusion
    If it is with connection pooling, can any one please help me how to create it and how it works?
    process : req-->(cf-->weblogic)-->database(remote)Guess ur Cold Fusion pages will call jsp/servlets in Weblogic which in turn will tune to the remote database say Oracle.

    JayHi. When we turn on jdbc logging, oracle's thin driver prints this out. There
    are two separate versions of the thin driver. We ship the regular one. The
    other one is a debug version. The best course is to download oracle's
    latest appropriate thin driver and put the debug version ahead of all weblogic
    jars in the classpath constructed for the server. Then when you turn on jdbc
    logging, you will get copious debug output.

    Hi Owen,
    You may have to get the latest patchset from oracle for your OCI client
    libraries. You should talk to Oracle support about this problem as the core
    dump is due to Oracle's driver.

  • Creating JDBC datasource in Weblogic 10

    I have a requirement to create JDBC datasource at runtime if necessary. Weblogic provides JMX services for creating datasource however this required credential of Admin Server (node manager).
    As my application is deployed in one of the managed node and as per the security policies admin credential will not be available..
    so how can I create a datasource at runtime on fly applicable only for my node.. this should not require admin credentials?
    Edited by: user5798282 on Apr 28, 2010 12:50 PM

    Thanks for your reply. However both seems to be way of creating datasource in weblogic 8 . The first one is deprecated in Weblogic 10, the 2nd one requires weblogic admin username and password

  • JDBC Drivers for Weblogic to connect to Oracle 11g database

    WebLogic Server Version: 10.3.6.0
    We had Oracle 10g database that we were connecting using JDBC data source (driver : Oracle's Driver (Thin XA) for instance connections; versions:9.0.1 and later). We migrated our database to 11g now. Is it still the best driver to connect to 11g database or should we change it to something else?

    why not using an 11 driver to connect to db 11g?

  • Httpd parameters in weblogic.property

    Hello!
    I actually have two questions:
    Anyone happens to know what are the important httpd parameters that would improve weblogic performance when included inside the servers weblogic.propterty file (not the global one which goes under /weblogic, this property file actually goes under /weblogic/testserver/)? Also if there's any recommendation for tuning these parameters to better the performance?

    Correct.

If anybody can assist, it would be greatly appreciated.
    Some background: I have the JDBC JAR inside the classpath for my server, and it is loading it properly because I can test the connection pool from within the appserver's admin console.
    In appserver:

    Make sure you don't have the JDBC jar in the client classpath too. Just make
