JDBC ResultSet lowercase Column names

Hi,
My group has a body of DBMS access beans which use lowercase column names for result set get(s)* ..ie rs.getString("empno");.
Are current JDBC context uses KIVA\NAS.
We've recently attempted to use these beans under Oracle JDBC OCI (type 2). We've noticed that Oracle JDBC prefers rs.getString("EMPNO") .. or rs.getString(1).
Is there a way around this? Or do we have some serious changing to do?
Thanks in advance.

The column names our current driver takes in getString() is not case-sensitive. I am not sure whether that was the case with some previous versions. Is it possible that you can try it on the 8.1.6 driver?

  • OMBPLUS Error OMB01701 on lowercase column name

    Hi, I am trying to rename columns on tables that have been imported into OWB from a Sybase database with mixed and lowercase column names. However I get the OMB01701 error.
    I can see these columns looking at a dummy table I created also by importing from an Oracle database.
    OMB+> OMBRETRIEVE TABLE 'test_table2' GET COLUMNS
    UPPER_COLUMN lower_col Mixed_Col
    Issuing this command fails
    OMB+> OMBALTER TABLE 'test_table2' MODIFY COLUMN 'lower_col' RENAME TO 'LOWER_COL'
    OMB01701: Column lower_col not found.
    As does this
    OMB+> OMBRETRIEVE TABLE 'test_table2' COLUMN 'lower_col' GET PROPERTIES (DATATYPE)
    OMB01701: Column lower_col not found.
    Is there any way I can reference these lowercase / mixed case columns in OMBPLUS and rname them to uppercase ?
    Thanks,
    Phil

    Hey Oleg, thanks for the reply and the code snippet. Shame about the bug ... we need the columns in uppercase in the OWB repository, as we are running various TCL scripts over the imported sybase tables which don't work well on lowercase column names. We have a few hundred to do.
    I have tried the snippet you supplied in the Design Centre OMB Plus window and a DOS OMB Plus window to no avail. The line that gets an error is 'set yourModule [$project findGatewayModule $moduleName]' (I stepped through each line till the error occured).

  • Sybase JDBC driver & Invalid column name error

    I submitted a note a year ago concerning JDBC-ODBC bridge and SQL Server db. Same Invalid column name error. The resolution was a bug in the XSU code.
    This time the error is with a jconnect5 JDBC driver from Sybase to a Sybase ASA db. ASA is Adaptive Server Anywhere.
    <ERROR xsql-timing="140">oracle.xml.sql.OracleXMLSQLException: S0022: Invalid column name 'name'.</ERROR>
    However if I use a Sybase JDBC driver from INet Software of Germany, I get the desired result of my query.
    Below are sample XSQLConfig.xml definitions.
    INet Software Sybase JDBC driver definition:
    - <connection name="deasa">
    <username>dba</username>
    <password>sql</password>
    <dburl>jdbc:inetsyb:LEMKAU:2638?database=asademo</dburl>
    <driver>com.inet.syb.SybDriver</driver>
    <autocommit>true</autocommit>
    </connection>
    Sybase jconnect5 Sybase JDBC driver definition:
    - <connection name="asa">
    <username>dba</username>
    <password>sql</password>
    <dburl>jdbc:sybase:Tds:lemkau:2638?ServiceName=asademo</dburl>
    <driver>com.sybase.jdbc.SybDriver</driver>
    <autocommit>true</autocommit>
    </connection>
    I believe the bug has to do with the numeric codes that the drivers use to determine data types are not properly interpreted.
    See XML General note title "insert-request, xsu 2.1.0 beta & SQL Server" for reference.

    Thanks for the notification. We will look into this issue...

  • Invalid column name error in JDBC adapter

    Hi all,

  • Return column name in lowcase

    Hi,
    how can I make Oracle ODBC Driver (8.01.72.00) returning column name in small letters ?
    Thanks for any help.

    Pardon my stupidity, but I'm still a little confused. Perhaps it's too early in the morning...
    If you create a table foo in Oracle, i.e.
    create table foo (
    col1 varchar2,
    col2 integer )
    col1 & col2 are stored as uppercase in the database, although queries against the table are case-insensitive. For instance
    select col1 from foo;
    select COL1 from foo;
    select cOl1 from foo;
    all return the same thing
    If you instead create a table
    create table foo (
    "col1" varchar2,
    "col2" integer )
    col1 & col2 are stored as case-sensitive column names, in this case lower case. Because the column names are case-sensitive,
    the SQL statement
    select "col1" from foo;
    will return the correct data, while
    select col1 from foo;
    will cause an error.
    Is this helpful to you? I guess I'm not sure where it is that you're generating or gathering column names, so I'm not sure how much control you have.
    If you're gathering column names by making calls to catalog functions like SQLTables, I assume you can simply use the appropriate LOWER() function call to create lowercase column names.
    If you can explain in a little more detail, preferrably with reference to the particular ODBC calls you're making, I might be able to help a little more.

  • Invalid column name 'SKEY_VAL' Error when Populating a planning dimension

    I'm trying to populate a planning dimension from a view in MSSQL. I thought that I had mapped the all of the required columns in my interface in ODI, but I am getting the following error:
    207 : S0001 : com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: Invalid column name 'SKEY_VAL'.
    I can see in Operator that ODI is generating the following SQL
    select
         LEFT(DIM_ACCOUNT.FLEX_VALUE,80)     as C1_ACCOUNT,
         DIM_ACCOUNT.PARENT_FLEX_VALUE     as C2_PARENT,
         LEFT(DIM_ACCOUNT.DESCRIPTION,80)     as C3_DESCRIPTION,
         LEFT(DIM_ACCOUNT.DESCRIPTION,80)     as C4_ALIAS__DEFAULT,
         SKEY_VAL
    from     DOT_STAGE.dbo.DIM_ACCOUNT_T_V as DIM_ACCOUNT
    where     (1=1)
    But I don't know why it is asking for the SKEY_VAL column or how I can map a value into this column when setting up the interface?
    I've read through the user guide and the getting started guide and I can't find any reference to this SKEY_VAL column.
    Does anyone know what causes this error and how I can fix it?

    1) No SKEY_VAL is not a variable.
    2) This is my first attempt at using ODI, I did not create the SQL. All I did was to create a reverse a model against my MSSQL staging database and create and reverse a model against the planning application. Then I created an interface for the Account dimension in planning mapped the account, parent and description columns from my SQL table to the Planning dimension and I get this error. There are no columns called SKEY_VAL in either the source or the target and I have not created any objects with this name in ODI. I can see that ODI is asking for this column when I execute the interface, but I don't know why.

    As stated by Ken, the Organizer does not consider duplicate file names as duplicate files : the full path with folder hierarchy is taken into account. I have the same situation than you with my camera limited to 10 000 ... I am working with this fact since 1999, and I have no organization problem with that. Absolutely no necessity to rename in my case, but you may have other requirements ?
    If so, it's good to know that you can use the downloader to rename at the import stage (hence the questions of Ken about the way you import).
    You mentionned batch renaming : that can only be made from within the organizer, and I would seriously recommend thinking twice before deciding to do so, a full backup before that being a must.

    Hi,
    I am sorry because of formatting but while I am entering text looks fine but in preview it is all scrambled. I was looking on the Web for similar problems and I did not find anything similar. Its very simple sample and I could not believe that the problem is in SUN JSF library. I was thinking that problem is in some ResultSet parameter or in some specific Oracle implementation of JDBC thin driver. I did not try this sample on any other platform, database or programming tool. I am new in Java and JSF and I have some experience only with JDeveloper.

  • Invalid Column Name Error : JDBC Driver 9.2.* accessing Oracle 7.3.*

    We are migrating a web app from JDK 1.2 environment to a JDK 1.5 server enviroment. Previously the web app used the classes12.zip package, now we are using ojdbc14.jar for the new server environment.
    Now this particular app uses Oracle7 Server Release 7.3.3.6.0. to retrieve data. I would run a query and get the result set explicitly using the column name.
    sql_query = " SELECT DISTINCT(INSIDE_SALES_TEAM_NAME) AS D_INSIDE_SALES_TEAM_NAME FROM AGED_INVENTORY" ;
    rset.getString("D_INSIDE_SALES_TEAM_NAME");
    However, after migration to ojdc14.jar (using Oracle JDBC driver 9.2.0.8.0) I can't retrieve the resultset in the above-mentioned fashion. I will always get
    java.sql.SQLException: Invalid column name
    If I use the following, then I do not get any error in retrieving data from the resultset.
    rset.getString(1);
    Any cause for this scenario?
    Thanks,
    TA

    Yes of course. I just the posted code snippet. This code used to work in old web server environment. Now we have to modify the resultset line to make it work when using ojdc14.jar.

  • What is the key column name and value column name in JDBC Adapter parameter

    Hi
    I am doing DataBase Lookup in XI
    First i have created a  Table in Database( CheckUser) which has two fields UserName and PhoneNumber and then i have created
    I have created one Communication Channel For Reciever Adapter .
    I have given the parameters like this
    JDBC Driver : com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver
    Connection : jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://10.7.1.43:1433;DatabaseName=Ravi;
    UserName.... sa
    password.... sa
    persistence : Database
    Database Table Name : CheckUser
    Key column name and Value column name i left blank and activated
    and then
    I have created
    Data Types : Source ...... UserName
                      Destination.... PhoneNumber
    Message Types
    Message Interfaces
    In Message Mapping
                  I have created one User Defined function DBProcessing_SpecialAPI().This method will get the data from the database....
    In this function i have written the following code
       //write your code here
    String query = " ";
    Channel channel = null;
    DataBaseAccessor accessor = null;
    DataBaseResult resultSet = null;
    query = "select Password from CheckUser where UserName = ' " +UserName[0]+ " '  ";
    try {
         channel = LookupService.getChannel("Ravi","CC_JDBC");
         accessor = LookupService.getDataBaseAccessor(channel);
         resultSet = accessor.execute(query);
         for(Iterator rows = resultSet.getRows();rows.hasNext();){
              Map  rowMap = (Map)rows.next();
              result.addValue((String)rowMap.get("Password"));
    catch(Exception e){
         result.addValue(e.getMessage());
    finally{
         try{
              if(accessor != null)
                   accessor.close();
         }catch(Exception e){
              result.addValue(e.getMessage());
    And the i have mapped like this
    UserName -
    > DBProcessing_SpecialAPI----
    >PhoneNumber
    when i am testing this mapping i am getting the following error

  • JDBC Column Name Not Writing

    I am using the following to return a results set from SQL Server and writing it to a text file. The data in the writes to the file, but I can not get the column name to write to the file.
    flNewExcelFile oflTemp = new flNewExcelFile();
    File flTemp = oflTemp.svFile();
    BufferedWriter outData = new BufferedWriter(new FileWriter(flTemp));
    String dtRow;
    ResultSet rsRs = rsSPResult.rsObj();
    ResultSetMetaData mtdData = rsRs.getMetaData();
    int cols = mtdData.getColumnCount();
    for (int i=1;i<=cols;i++)
    dtRow = mtdData.getColumnName(i);
    outData.write(dtRow);
    outData.newLine();
    while (rsRs.next())
    for (int i=1;i<=cols;i++)
    dtRow = rsRs.getString(mtdData.getColumnName(i));
    outData.write(dtRow);
    outData.newLine();
    outData.close();
    I am connecting to the data via a DSN-Less connection:
    Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
    String sourceURL = "jdbc:odbc:DRIVER={SQL Server}; Server=ServerName;Database=dataBaseName";
    databaseConnection = DriverManager.getConnection(sourceURL,"UserID","PW");
    And creating the results set:
    Statement sqlStatement = conn.createStatement();
    ResultSet rsData = sqlStatement.executeQuery("Select * From Contract");
    TIA

    but I can not get the column name to write to the file.what happens?
    looks like you are writing an m$ excel sheet.
    1. you are possibly missing something in the steps needed to get column names into you flNewExcelFile object.
    2. are you getting the columns names as a row, rather than the header?
    if that is so, you might have to write the column names in some particular manner.
    3. what is this flNewExcelFile class. the documentation to flNewExcelFile might give you the answer, if it is a third party class.

  • Problem in XI - JDBC (oracle) Scenario, case sensitive column name

    I had a XI -> JDBC scenario, connecting to a SQL server, where the query was being generated using Message Mapping (XML SQL Format),
    now the database has been migrated from SQL server to Oracle, and we are using the same XI scenario, but now the problem is, the query generated using message mapping doesnt work because it seems the query (UPDATE statement) requires the field name as having All capital letters, i mean the Column name in query to Oracle has become case sensitive,
    can u help me out

    Hi
    Oracle doesnt have restriction that Query has to be in uppercase for any column. But it is good go use Upper case for the Query.
    Use oracle editor to do the query if it is working fine and then use XML SQL in XI
    Check this thread SAP has given some

    Check FAQ on the JDBC adapter, see SAP Note 831162

  • JDBC send data to oracle, oracle only accept column name in Upper case

    Hi experts,
    I am doing a scenario File --> XI --> JDBC,  JDBC send data to a Oracle 10g database, I have configured JDBC receiver to use XML-SQL format. in oracle database ,  table "EMPLOYEE" has a column "NAME", but when I send data to oracle using JDBC receiver, the column is "name", then XI complains
    " 'EMPLOYEE' (structure 'insert'): java.sql.SQLException: FATAL ERROR: Column 'name' does not exist in table 'EMPLOYEE'.
    can anyone help me to let oracle accpet column "name". I can't change colum in JDBC receiver from "name" to "NAME".
    Thanks a lot.

    <i>can anyone help me to let oracle accpet column "name"</i>
    Making Oracle case insensitive is not possible (in my opinion). By default all object names are stored in UPPER case in the rdbms dictionary.
    When XI searches for column name in Oracle, this search is case sensitive. So u have to configure accordingly.

  • Lowercase first letter in column name of non-interactive report

    I have a report from this query:
    SELECT DISTINCT
    v.isotope, v.location,
    v.activity_in_ucuries as "uCi"
    FROM inventory v
    where v.location = 'IN PROCESS'
    and v.activity_in_ucuries > 0
    Note 'as "uCi"' - when the report displays the lowercase u is displayed as an uppercase U
    In the column attributes , I have set the column heading as lowercase. In the report attributes I have Heading Type set as custom
    and the column heading shows lowercase. I have also tried using the a heading type of Column Names. With all of these changes the
    report still comes out with an uppercase U.
    Is there a way to prevent the automatic set of the first letter to Uppercase or alternatively, force the first letter to lowercase?
    Thanks
    Donna

    I am using theme 13. I don't have any experience changing the templates, so the report template has the following in Column Headings:
    <th#ALIGNMENT# id="#COLUMN_HEADER_NAME#" class="t13ReportHeader">#COLUMN_HEADER#</th>
    Can I make a change in here to prevent the transformation of the 1st character to uppercase? (I would also love to change the u to mu!)
    I do have a test application in theme 3 that seems to preserve whatever case I enter it in...I suppose I can change themes, but I would like to stick with theme 13 if possible.
    Thanks for any additional help.
    Donna
