Jdbc sql insert to oracle DB.

Dear All,
I'm using the jdbc connector to insert data directly into an Oracle database table.  I've got the SQL insert command which XI has generated by using the logSQLStatement parameter and I've proved the statement is good by pasting it directly into Toad where it is executed perfectly.  However XI is throwing the following errors;-
Unable to execute statement for table or stored procedure. 'SI_ORDER' (Structure 'STATEMENT') due to java.sql.SQLException: ORA-01858: a non-numeric character was found where a numeric was expected
MP: exception caught with cause com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.RecoverableException: Error processing request in sax parser: Error when executing statement for table/stored proc. 'SI_ORDER' (structure 'STATEMENT'): java.sql.SQLException: ORA-01858: a non-numeric character was found where a numeric was expected
Does anyone know what might be the problem or even where I should start to troubleshoot this?
Any help is much appreciated.
Pete.

Your question is how to load data from a text file into arrays?
Start with a
StreamReader to read the file one line at a time.  Then break each line into individual values, and add each value to a
List<T>.  Then call .ToArray() on each list to set the value of each array-bound parameter.

  • ClassCastException while inserting in oracle.sql.BLOB

    Hi,
    I have to insert a blob data in to database . I wrote the code . I'm having a ClassCastException problem in the line oracle.sql.BLOB blob = oracle.sql.BLOB.createTemporary(st.getConnection(), false,
    oracle.sql.BLOB.DURATION_CALL); while trying to store a BLOB value I'm using Oracle 9i. (JDBC classes12.jar).
    if I use the method with a dedicated database connection that specifies the driver as oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver there is no problem .
    But when I use JBoss to run , I will get ClassCastException
    I imagine that somewhere in the code of this method there is a cast of the underlying connection leading to the ClassCastException when used in conjunction with the jboss datasource. The code to save the BLOB is as follows:
    String sql = " update test set code = ? where id = ?  ";
                 BLOB   newBlob = BLOB.createTemporary(dbcon, false, BLOB.DURATION_CALL);
                  newBlob.putBytes(1,data.getBytes());
                  stmt = dbcon.prepareStatement(newsql);
                 stmt.setBlob(1, newBlob);
                 stmt.setInt(2, Studid );
                 stmt.executeUpdate();
                 stmt.close();Can any one tell me how can I get this code to work with the datasource implementation.
    Thanks

    I think this could be a problem with the class loader . Take a look at this thread It should solve your problem.

Bulk processing is meaningless in this context. It does nothing to increase the performance - as context switching is not the issue.
    The biggest factor is pulling 20 million rows's data via database link across the network. This will be slow by it's very nature.
    I would use bcp (Bulk Copy export) on SQL-Server to write the data to a CSV file.
    Zip that file. FTP/scp/sftp it to the Oracle server. Unzip it.
    Then do a parallel direct load of the data using SQL*Loader.
    This will be a lot faster than pulling uncompressed data across the network, a couple of rows at a time (together with the numerous moving parts on the Oracle side that uses a HS agent as interface between SQL-Server and the Oracle database).

  • Error oracle.sql.* and oracle.jdbc.driver.* not found when using oracle as a database

    I am using oracle as database and weblogic 4.5. I have copied the classes12.zip file in lib directory of weblogic. I am getting the error that oracle.sql.* and oracle.jdbc.driver.* not found when i am importing these packages in a jsp file. what i need to do to import oracle driver packages?I put it in the classpath also.

    Hi Anupama,
    First of all I would be surprised if you would not like to use the connection pooling feature of weblogic (in which case you might not be needing the import the classes directly), and would like to open direct connections to your database. Anyways for doing that I would recommend you to check out the readme doc that ships
    along with the jdbc oracle (classes12.zip etc). I am giving an excerpt over here:
    These are a few simple things that you should do in your JDBC program:
    1. Import the necessary JDBC classes in your programs that use JDBC.
    For example:
    import java.sql.*;
    import java.math.*;
    2. Register the Oracle driver before before calling other JDBC APIs.
    (This is not needed if you are using the JDBC Server-side Internal
    Driver because registration is done automatically in the server.)
    To register the Oracle driver, make sure the following statement
    is executed at least once in your Java session:
    DriverManager.registerDriver(
    new oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver());
    3. Open a connection to the database with the getConnection call.
    Different connection URLs should be used for different JDBC
    drivers. The following examples demonstrate the different URLs.
    For the JDBC OCI8 Driver:
    Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection(
    "jdbc:oracle:oci8:@<database>",
    "scott", "tiger");
    where <database> is either an entry in tnsnames.ora or a SQL*net
    name-value pair.
    For the JDBC Thin Driver, or Server-side Thin Driver:
    Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection(
    "jdbc:oracle:thin:@<database>",
    "scott", "tiger");
    where <database> is either a string of the form
    <host>:<port>:<sid> or a SQL*net name-value pair.
    For the JDBC Server-side Internal Driver:
    Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection(
    "jdbc:oracle:kprb:");
    Note that the trailing ':' character is necessary. When you use
    the Server-side Internal Driver, you always connect to the
    database you are executing in. You can also do this:
    Connection conn
    = new oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver().defaultConnection();
    Hope this helps,
    Thanks,

    Depending on the version of the database you have, you could use transportable tablespaces.

  • JDBC send data to oracle, oracle only accept column name in Upper case

    Hi experts,
    I am doing a scenario File --> XI --> JDBC,  JDBC send data to a Oracle 10g database, I have configured JDBC receiver to use XML-SQL format. in oracle database ,  table "EMPLOYEE" has a column "NAME", but when I send data to oracle using JDBC receiver, the column is "name", then XI complains
    " 'EMPLOYEE' (structure 'insert'): java.sql.SQLException: FATAL ERROR: Column 'name' does not exist in table 'EMPLOYEE'.
    can anyone help me to let oracle accpet column "name". I can't change colum in JDBC receiver from "name" to "NAME".
    Thanks a lot.

    <i>can anyone help me to let oracle accpet column "name"</i>
    Making Oracle case insensitive is not possible (in my opinion). By default all object names are stored in UPPER case in the rdbms dictionary.
    When XI searches for column name in Oracle, this search is case sensitive. So u have to configure accordingly.

  • JDBC Thin Client and Oracle Long Datatype

    I am using Wepshere 4.0.2 , JDBC 2.0 (thin driver) and oracle 9i.
    I have a procedure which takes Oracle Long Datatype as its parameter.
    I use following code to execute procedure.
    String dataforsql="AAA000000003 123123 07/01/200301/01/2003";
    byte[] bytes = dataforsql.getBytes();
    InputStream is = new ByteArrayInputStream(bytes);
    cstmt=conn.prepareCall("call nscw.CPPF_SAVEPDCRAWTABLE2(?,?,?)");
    cstmt.setAsciiStream (1, is,bytes.length);
    The above code works perfectly for data upto 4000 bytes. Once the data crosses the 4000 mark.
    i get a procedure error
    ORA-01460: unimplemented or unreasonable conversion requested

    cstmt.setAsciiStream (1, is,bytes.length);Oracle's support for CLOB (and BLOB) columns using set{Ascii,Binary}Stream() generally s*cks. You'll have to read Oracle's own JDBC manual (you can read it online at http://technet.oracle.com) for whatever sequence they recommend.
    E.g. for insertion and updation of CLOBS, you're supposed to use an oracle-specific function (EMPTY_CLOB()) as the value in the INSERT/UPDATE statement, and then do a SELECT, getClob(), and use Clob APIs to update the actual column value. At least officially. Or you have to use some Oracle-specific APIs in oracle.sql.Connection and oracle.sql.CLOB.

    Try ojdbc14.jar as the JDBC driver instead of classes12.zip.
    Refer:
    http://otn.oracle.com/software/tech/java/sqlj_jdbc/htdocs/jdbc9201.html
    http://docs.sun.com/source/817-5603-10/index.html
    Database Driver
    This section describes the known database driver issues and associated solutions.
    ID      Summary
    4700531      On Solaris, an ORACLE JDBC driver error occurs.
         This new Java Database Connectivity (JDBC) driver is for Oracle (R) working with JDK1.4. The problem is caused by a combination of the Oracle 9.1 database and ojdbc14.jar. Applying the patch will fix the problem on Solaris 32-bit machine, running an Oracle 9.0.1.3 database.
         Solution
         Obtain and apply the patch to your server from the Oracle Web site for Bug 2199718. Perform the following steps:
         1.Go to the Oracle web site.
         2.Click the 'patches' button.
         3.Type 2199718 in the patch number field.
         4.Click the 32-bit Solaris OS patch.Go to Metalink.oracle.com.
         5.Click patches.
         6.Under patch number, enter 2199718.
         7.Click the 32 bit Solaris OS patch.
    4707531      On Solaris, accessing an Oracle 9.1 database with an Oracle 9.2 Client may cause data corruption.
         If you use an Oracle (R) 9.2 client to access an Oracle 9.1 database, data corruption might occur when a number column follows a timestamp column.
         The problem might be caused by using the ojdbc14.jar file with an Oracle 9.1 database. Applying the patch might assist in addressing the situation on Solaris 32-bit machines, running an Oracle 9.1 database. This JDBC driver is for Oracle working with JDK1.4.
         Solution
         Obtain the patch that Oracle might make available from the Oracle web site for Bug 2199718 and apply it to your server.

    Pankaj D.

    We're trying to migrate a Sql server managment studio database to Oracle 11g using SQL Developer 4.0. We can successfully connect to both Sql server managment studion 8.0 and Oracle 11g using the tool, as well as click through the Migration Wizard and start the migration.
    This opens the Database Migration dialog box, which indicates the capture process starts normally. we get the following error:
    ora :01440 : can not insert null into migrlog (id column) ,
    \and then after some time , i get an error that migration failed
    i am not getting the reason,I thing it may be due to reason that , I have table's column in my source db with more than 30 character.
    If i am migrating one by one table . then it is not giving any error, and identifier name is getting shrink in 30 character. but i am not getting the view , stored procedure , indexes , and others
    then what is the solution  for that, somebody pls suggest any help?????????????

    Pl do not post duplicates - related to migration of db from sql server to oracle 11 g
    Continue the discussion in your original thread
    The error message is explicitly clear
    ora :01440 : can not insert null into migrlog (id column)
    Your process is trying to insert a NULL value into the ID column, which presumably cannot be NULL

    I'm development a application in Java with oracle, to manage media files. When I try to insert into oracle , I have this problem "oracle.sql.BLOB cannot be cast to oracle.sql.STRUCT" , and I don't know what that can be ..
    This is my code , please help with that.. If you have a smaple code of java and oracle to insert media , that will be a great help ..
    public void loadDataFromStream(OracleConnection con)
    try {
    Statement s = con.createStatement();
    OracleResultSet rs = (OracleResultSet)
    s.executeQuery("select * from blobs where id='video2.avi' for update ");
    String index = "";
    while(rs.next())
    index = rs.getString(1);
    index+="1";
    System.out.println("llego hasta aki");
    // el error esta en esta linea de abajo ...
    OrdVideo vidObj = (OrdVideo) rs.getCustomDatum(2, OrdVideo.getFactory());
    //rs.getBfile(3);///
    FileInputStream fStream = new FileInputStream("/home/jova/movie.avi");
    vidObj.loadDataFromInputStream(fStream);
    vidObj.getDataInFile("/home/jova/movie.avi");
    fStream.close();
    System.out.println(" getContentLength output : " +
    vidObj.getContentLength());
    OraclePreparedStatement stmt1 =
    (OraclePreparedStatement) con.prepareCall("update blob_col set image = ? where id = " + index);
    stmt1.setCustomDatum(1,vidObj);
    stmt1.execute();
    stmt1.close() ;
    index+="1";
    System.out.println("OK");
    catch(Exception e) {
    System.out.println("exception raised " + e);
    System.out.println("load data from stream unsuccessful");
    }

  • How to resolve ORA-00001 Error in SQL Insert?

    Hi all, I need your appreciated help.
    I make a plsql procedure that is inserting a row according cursor value, I'm having oracle error ORA-00001: unique constraint (constraint_name) violated.
    You may see this message if a duplicate entry exists at a different level: in RDBMS MySQL I have the syntax IGNORE to resolve this duplication error... and in Oracle ?
    Thanks for your time and hints.

    How to resolve ORA-00001 Error in SQL Insert?ORA-00001 means table has unique/primary key/index and you are trying to insert a row with key value that already exists in the table. I'll assume table COUNTRIES has primary key on COUNTRY_ID. Then change SQL to:
    SQL = "INSERT INTO COUNTRIES(COUNTRY_ID,COUNTRY_NAME,REGION_ID) SELECT 'BZ','BLZ',3 FROM DUAL WHERE NOT EXISTS(SELECT 1 FROM COUNTRIES WHERE COUNTRY_ID = 'BZ')"There is a good chance table COUNTRIES also has unique key/index on COUNTRY_NAME. If so use:
    SQL = "INSERT INTO COUNTRIES(COUNTRY_ID,COUNTRY_NAME,REGION_ID) SELECT 'BZ','BLZ',3 FROM DUAL WHERE NOT EXISTS(SELECT 1 FROM COUNTRIES WHERE COUNTRY_ID = 'BZ' OR COUNTRY_NAME = 'BLZ')"SY.
