re-read my earlier reply -- the comment was :
Thedatabase you're using went out of support over 2 years

than the minimum supported version ---> 7.3.4.At no time did i refer to the client s/w being required !!
also it was not tested against unsupported version of the

also rdbms 7.1.3 isn't y2k compliant.
use it at your own risk..
what "claim" are you saying oracle made ??

It would be nice if someone please guide me to the download of Oracle JDBC Thin Driver for oracle 9.2.0.4.
    Thanks in anticipation

    user566773,
As far as I know, all Oracle JDBC drivers are meant to be backward compatible.
According to the table on the following Web page, the latest Oracle JDBC driver can be used with Oracle 9.2.0.x DBMS.

  • JDBC thin drivers for oracle 8.0.5 for linux

I want to use Java SDK 1.2.2 and need the oracle thin drivers.
I have trouble with the 816 thin drivers connecting to the 8.0.5

when using statement.executeQuery(..... I get the following
    Exception.
    Exception error: java.sql.SQLException: ORA-03120: two-task

I think my solution is to upgrade to a 8.1.6 server or use the
java 1.1.6 driver on the JDK1.1.6
I tried downoading the 8.1.5 enterprise server but this fails to
    complete.
Can someone help me to this version on CDROM or to the JDBC thin

You must include "classes12.zip" instead of "classes111.zip".
Since "classes111.zip" is required only for Java 1
and "classes12.zip" is required for Java 2 which means from J2SE 1.2 on forward.
In adition you might need to inlcude "nls_charset12.zip" as well. Try it first without and if it is not working include it as well.
The required files can you get from the OTN.
    This should help

  • Oracle 8 JDBC thin driver for tomcat

    Hi all,
I have tomcat3.3 installed on HP UNIX with java version "HP-UX Java C.01.18.05"
I need to connect to an oracle 8 database using a Oracle JDBC thin driver. Where can I obtain this driver? How to install and configure it for the tomcat application?
    Thanks for your help.
    Regards
    Shriram

If you go to the link which the last person posted, http://technet.oracle.com/software/tech/java/sqlj_jdbc/content.html, there is no indication for HP-UX. The only OS it lists are NT and Solaris. Does anyone know if these versions will work on HP-UX?
    Please help.

  • JDBC Thin-Driver and Oracle Stored Procedure

I've got a Oracle stored procedure which returns a Oracle record.
How can I retrieve the record in java using the JDBC Thin-Driver ?
    Record:
    TYPE messagerec IS RECORD
    (log_level VARCHAR(2), timestamp VARCHAR2(19), text VARCHAR2(200));

Using PL/SQL BOOLEAN, RECORD Types, and TABLE Types:
Oracle SQLJ and JDBC do not support calling arguments or return values of the
PL/SQL BOOLEAN type or RECORD types. Also, when using the Thin driver, they
do not support calling arguments or return values of PL/SQL TABLE types (known
as indexed-by tables). TABLE types are supported for the OCI driver.

  • JDBC thin driver and Oracle 8.1.6

    Hi,
I have installed Oracle 8.1.6 on Windows NT 4.0 with service pack 4 and using Oracle JDBC thin driver driver (classes111.zip). My application is multithreaded, but each thread maintains its own connection (and own set of Statements). Things are okay in single threaded mode, but in multi threaded mode, I get weird errors!
    1. My resultsets are SCROLL_SENTITIVE and UPDATABLE
    2. Sometimes, while updating a row, "No current row" SQLException is thrown, although a row exists that satisfies my select criteria
    3. I am also calling executeUpdate() for inserting new rows and such rows are not seen by successive resultsets!
    Appreciate any hints! Thanks!

    Try this isntead.
    java -classpath d:\jdbc\classes12.zip;. jdbccheckup

Hi, We are using Weblogic 6.1. We are currently using JDBC Oracle Thin Driver (ClassName

Our database is Oracle 8.1.7.4. We want to upgrade to Oracle 9i (Oracle version
9.2.0.4). I would like to know the compatibility of this built-in Driver for Weblogic
6.1 with Oracle 9i (9.2.0.4) and can I continue to use the same JDBC driver. Also
we have plans to upgrade our Weblogics to 8.1 version. Can we continue to use
the same Oracle Thin driver that comes as part of WLS 8.1, for Oracle 9.2.0.4.
I need this reply ASAP. I appreciate any help in this regard.

Hi. The driver we shipped will still work with the later DBMS, but there

so I highly recommend that you download Oracle's latest appropriate

the weblogic startup script creates for the server.
Every release of weblogic will tend to include the latest oracle

  • JDBC Thin Driver for Tomcat 6

I just upgraded to Tomcat 6. For older version of Tomcat I was using ojdbc14.jar and for Tomcat 6 I am still using ojdbc14.jar.
Everything is working but wanted to know if there is a newer version of the Oracle Thin Driver for JDBC?

There is one version per release of the database (with sometimes minor releases for bugfixes released later. which will have the same filename but different internal version numbers).
Only exception I know of is Oracle 11 which ships with both 1.5 and 1.6 compiled drivers.

  • Jdbc thin driver connect oracle as internal

I need to connect to Oracle as Internal using jdbc driver, is there a way we can do this using jdbc thin driver. Actually I don't want to pass username and password as it will be harcoded in a properties file.

    Hi Minol,
Have a look at this code example that shows how to Connect to Database as internal ( as sysdba ). In this code sample the properties are hard-coded, you can supply these Properties by loading them from a properties file.

  • Problem using JDBC Thin driver with Oracle 8i Personal Edition

Hi all, I have an issue I have been unable to figure out. In order to make my code as portable as possible I am using the JDBC thin driver to access my database. I have been able to connect to an instance of Oracle 8i on a Sun box by hardcoding the following string into getConnection() call:
    conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:@(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(COMMUNITY=tcp.world)(PROTOCOL=TCP)(Host=<myhostname>)(Port=1521))(ADDRESS=(COMMUNITY=tcp.w orld)(PROTOCOL=TCP)(Host = <myhostname>)(Port = 1526)))(CONNECT_DATA = (SID = <mysidname>)))", <myuser>, <mypassword>);
My problem is that I cannot figure out what string to use to connect to my local instance of Oracle 8i Personal. I used the following string (the sid I got from the looking at the init.ora file):
    conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:@(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(COMMUNITY=tcp.world)(PROTOCOL=TCP)(Host=localhost)(Port=1521))(ADDRESS=(COMMUNITY=tcp.world)(PRO TOCOL=TCP)(Host = localhost)(Port = 1526)))(CONNECT_DATA = (SID = orcl)))", "scott", "tiger");
That didn't work, so I took the only entry found in my tnsnames.ora file in as:
    conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:@(DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS_LIST = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC0)))(CONNECT_DATA = (SID = PLSExtProc)(PRESENTATION = RO)))", "scott", "tiger");
I am not knowing what is wrong, but that didn't work neither. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks....

    try this:
    conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:scott/tiger:@hostname:1521:sid");

  • JDBC Thin driver and Oracle names server

    Hi
Any managed to get the Thin driver to user the Names Server aliases, ie I want to connect to service xxx like
jdbc:oracle:thin:@xxxx and not specify instance and port as the DB is running in a multiple machine cluster and can be switched to a different machine...
With OCI driver I have managed on NT but having problem with OCI/Linux and Beta 10g...
    Tks
    Andre

I don't have much experience with OCI from JDBC, but should work like any other kind of connection via SQL*Net. I.e. I would check if connection can be made using SQLPlus, check environment variables (ORACLE_HOME etc.) of 9iAS instance, check version of JDBC classes and their readme.txt. There are also some settings in sqlnet.ora file which might affect this (like default domain - try to use full name of alias - OCRL.WORLD or whatever alias you have there). You may also want to switch tracing for SQLNet and/or listener on (it's not easy to find in doc how to do it, though) to check if there is at least some traffic between klient and server...

  • Is there free jdbc type4 driver for oracle?

i neen to connect to oracle to develop my application, but there's a problem when tryin' to resolve peoblem of character set. in oracle, as i know, it uses unicode that resulting in the font code, which is not falling into the character set of unicode, whould cause failure in translating user defined font code. beside, for i do not know what kind of license that oracle jdbc type4 driver publishes, hope someone are able to tell me wheather there's any software like freetds in sql2000, because, if necessary, i may need to redistrubite the jdbc driver for my own use!
    thanks in advice,

Oracle has drivers available from their site (free ones) for java and the specific version of Oracle you are running.

  • Jdbc thin driver with Oracle 9i database

    Hi,
I'm having a problem with java code which previously deployed ok on an Oracle 817 database. In attempting to access data from a 9i database I get the following error:
    java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [ttcgcshnd-1], [0], [], [], [], [], [], []
From looking around I get the impression that the problem is with an incompatability with the driver and the 9i database. Any ideas as to whether this is true or not or suggestions on how to resolve it?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • JDBC Thin Client for Oracle 8i 8.1.7

    Hi,
Trying to Driver.getConnection(.....); to an Oracle 8i 8.1.7 DBMS. My client: NT4 and JDK1.3.1 and 100% Java Thin Client "classes12.zip" and "nls(?)_classes12.zip" for JDk 1.2.x
getConnection(....) is is timing out and exception says "network adapter could not establish connection....". No doubt, the paramters of getConnection(<parameters>) are valid and correct.
Is it really because the downloaded classes are only for JDK 1.2.x and do not work with jdk1.3.1? In this case I will install jdk 1.2.x again at client host.
Or is there another thing I have not concerned yet? Note I CAN connect to the host the Oracle 8i DBMS is running on (via BEA Jolt to several Tuxedo services as well as via an HTTP request to an CGI script). So the naming service works. Also te host is alive. A collegue confirmed that the database i want to connect to is also alive and running.
Any experienced JDBC programmer who can help me?
    Greetings from Germany, hans

    Hi,
If you get this error, check the follwing things,
    1. make sure you created a listner for your database.
    2. make sure the created your DB listner is up & running as service.
    3. try to connect to database & see that that DB is open for e-transactions (make sure the DB is not in SHUTDOWN mode).
These checks will solve your problem.
    Good luck,
