JDev 10.1.2 Bug

I upgrade from JDev 9.0.5.2 and now I have the following problem ...
I have two datapages and a dataaction between then, the dataaction has a custom method that references the current row of a view object being bound in both datapages. When using 9.0.5.2 the current row I got in the model matches the selected row in the uix page, but with 10.1.2 getCurrentRow() returns null in the model.
I'm using batch mode sync.
Is it ok to supose that the view object currency it's going to be keep through the app tiers ?

It should be a fine assumption.
If you have a reproducible testcase that illustrates the problem, can you open a TAR with Metalink and upload your testcase so our support engineers can investigate?
Does the problem go away if you try immediate sync mode?

I think i hit a bug with Release 2 of JDev 11g
Here is the scenario for the bug (the bug happens when using a popup only)
1- Created new simple Fusion ADF Application with JDev 11.1.2.0 without business components.
2- Created a new jspx page.
3- I put a button and a popup on the page
4- Added a showPopupBehavior (operation) on the button and linked it with the popup
5- Up untill now there are no problems when i click the button the popup is showing.
6- Now added a dialog, PanelGroupLayout and an input text or an output text inside the PanelGroupLayout.
7- Added a PopupFetchListener Method on a bean to modify the input text before showing the popup.
8- Binded the Input or output text to the bean.
9- Now when i run the application and click the button to show the popup i get (java.lang.NullPointerException) with the code ADF_FACES-60097.
(it seems like the bean can't see the inputtext which is bounded to it)
10- FYI, tried exactly the same steps with JDev 11G R1 (11.1.1.4) and it is working with no problems.

Forget it,, i solved the problem.
Which i think is a bug,, it was something i haven't even thought to look at, because i never faced such problem.
The bug is : Here is what i noticed and i think should be, in all Jdeveloper in general in all releases
the properties of all the UI Components are set to their defaults ,, well guess what only in Jdev R2
the popup when placed in a page its properties are all set to default except two properties:
1- ChildCreation - is set to deferred, which is not the default value which is (<default> (immediate)) --- this property is the cause of the error.*
2- AuotoCancel - s set to disabled, but the default value is (<default> (enabled)) --- this just a note.*
Now after setting the ChildCreation property to its default (which it always was in all previous releases) i can modify the content of the popup even before displaying it to the user (Just like before ^_^)

JDev 10.1.2 Bug Fix Release?

There were rumors that a bug fix release for JDev 10.1.2 is due by 2004 year end. Is this still a valid rumor?

I have also noticed this behavior of data actions created in JDev 9.0.5.2 being transformed into data pages when migrated to JDev 10.1.2. The following are the steps to create a simple project to reproduce:
JDev 9.0.5.2
1. Create a new application workspace using Application Template "Web Application [Default]".
2. Open struts-config page flow diagram.
3. Create a data page /welcome, a data action /logout, and a data page /login.
4. Create a forward (default success forward) from /logout to /login.
5. Double click /login to create login.jsp and type "You have successfully logged out" on the page.
6. Back on the struts-config page flow diagram, double click on /logout to define the action named LogoutAction that extends oracle.adf.controller.struts.actions.DataForwardAction.
7. Add the following event handler:

8. Back on the struts-config page flow diagram, double click on /welcome and create welcome.jsp.

1. Add the application workspace created above. You will be prompted to migrate. Click Yes.
2. Open struts-config page flow diagram. The logout data action will appear as expected.
3. Click on source tab to view struts-config.xml.
4. Close the struts-config.xml file. You will be prompted to save changes. Click Yes.
5. Reopen struts-config. Click on page flow diagram tab. The logout data action appears to have changed to a data page. Double clicking on it no longer takes you to the action class; instead, you are prompted to create a JSP page.
I read the suggestion above about editing the oxd file, but it is my understanding that this file is (re)generated and should not have to be edited by hand; it is my guess that changes made manually as suggested above would revert eventually. Is there a better way to solve this problem?

Jdev 10g: property inspector bug

The property inspector is not showing the value of "valuePassThru" on af:selectOneRadio controls.

Jdev 11 Table validations bug.

Validation errors on ADF editable table fires only when you change a row by clicking.
If you press any submit button they disapear.
Also validations dont fire if you navigate to a diferent row by pressing Tab key.
is this a bug?
Is there any way that these validation errors do not disapear when i press any button?

Hi,
don't think this is a bug because you perform sever side validation that is not existing on the client. So this validation only happens when you change the row currency on the binding layer, which is not happening when you use the tab. To see this error immediately you would need to assign a submit event when leaving a filed. So if you set autosubmit=true on your cell component renderers then this fires quite happily (but who wants to pay the price for this ?)

Jdev 11 ChangeEventPolicy="ppr" bug

When you drag and drop some operations on a page, Partial Page Rendering is set for Iterator automatically
ChangeEventPolicy="ppr"
But if the iterator is used in a table then the table refresh every time you select a row.
Also when you have scrolled down in the table and select a row the visible range is returned back to the first page and the selected row is not visible.
after removing ChangeEventPolicy="ppr" the table behaved correctly again.
So is this a bug?
We should not use ChangeEventPolicy="ppr" for iterators used in tables?
If not why it is set automatically when you drag and drop some iterator operations?

JDeveloper 11g R1 (11.1.1.1.0) design time incorrectly shows the "ppr" as the default setting for the ChangeEventPolicy of an iterator binding. The default of this property is still "none", even though you see "(default) ppr" in the property inspector.Regards,

JSP Code completion DOES NOT WORK in JDev 9.0.3.1

Does anyone know when the next release of JDev will be? We are seriously considering dropping the use of JDev due to the bugs it has. In particular, the code completion for JSP authoring simply FAILS! This is a very very VERY nasty bug, and we are pleading!!!

ADF Binding issues in JDev

Hi all,
Fairly new to the ADF/JDev world so still learning here. I've posted several threads on this forum for issues I have been running into with JDev. Mostly memory and freezing issues. Today I'm running into another. It seems that JDev can't handle deleting existing bindings and then readding them. I know it sounds silly that key functionality inside JDev does not work as expected but I thought I would post to see if maybe I am doing something incorrect. So here is my usecase. I added several tables to a jspx page via drag and dropping data controls to the page. Everything worked fine. Then I decided that I used the wrong data control so I went to the page's binding tab and deleted the bindings (to clean up). This seemed to occur fine although it did take several mins for jdev to complete this task. After the deletion of the bindings I again went to the data control panel and dragged and dropped the datacontrol I wanted as a ADF table into my jspx page. It seems like after I did this JDev completely froze giving me the progress msg of Editing Bindings. Now call me silly but how can anyone get anything done using JDev and ADF if JDev continues to freeze up and crash like this? imho JDev/ADF "is" a bug. Don't worry I have a solution for this already....restart and try again! And to all those who say I am flaming... nothing gets better unless you point out the weaknesses.
JDev version: 11.1.1.6.0 on Oracle Linux 5 (Intel 64-bit, Developer).

Don’t delete data controls from Jspx page. Better delete these data controls from navigation Panel. Then i working fine I Think. Better try this way.

Unable to connect to Oracle 8i using the JDBC - OCI8

I am unable to connect to the to the Oracle 8i database using
JDBC 8.1.5. er. Each time I try I get the message:
"java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no ocijdbc8 in
java.library.path"
When I try to establich a "connection" using the connection
manager with JDeveloper 2.0 I get the message:
"No ocijdbc8 in shared library path"
What's the problem? Is it that I do not have the appropriate
driver? It is unlikely because the thin driver works...

I dealt with this problem. For some reason OCI drivers
installation is not included in typiclal Jdev 2.0 instalation.
(bug?). In your instalation kit find Oracle 8i instalation disk,
and run the installer on the client machine (i.e. the same
machine where Jdev is installed where you were not able to
connect with OCI-8). Choose client installation and choose
custom installation. Than in the product list choose JDBC
drivers. Make sure OCI drivers are included. Install it. Now you
can find file ocijdbc8.dll in your ORACLE_HOME/bin directory.
Now you should be able to connect using OCI-8.

Minor display bug in JDev 11g "View Annotation" with Subversion

Hi all,
A very minor visual display issue with the "View Annotations" feature of JDev 11g when using a Subversion repository. To reproduce, simply follow these steps:
1). Open up any source file and right-click in the editor; select Versioning -> View Annotation. The annotations will be shown, and if you right-click again, you will see a check-mark next to the "View Annotation" menu item.
2). Open another source file. Annotations are not shown. Right-click in the editor; you will see that "View Annotation" menu item displays a check-mark (even though annotations are not shown). Select Versioning -> View Annotation. Annotations are now shown, but you will see the check-mark is no longer displayed.
To summarize my analysis; it appears that "View Annotation" was intended to be a global setting (as indicated by the check-mark), but is actually implemented on a file-by-file basis. Obviously a very minor display bug not affecting functionality, but a bug nonetheless.

[Bug] Compiler bug in JDev 10.1.3.0.4 (SU5)

Hello,
I would like to report a bug with Java 5 compiler in JDev 10.1.3.0.4 (SU5) build JDEV_ADF_10.1.3_NT_030125.0900.3673 regarding covariant return types.
As of Java 5, it's now possible to override a method with a different return type as long as the new return type is a subclass of the overridden method's return type. JDeveloper compiler will manage that correctly (no compilation error), but will result in a java.lang.AbstractMethodError if the overriding definition come from an interface.
So the reproduction case is :

quick workaround is to set project output directory to the WEB-INF/classes directory and compile the jsp from jdeveloper, oc4j then updates the loaded class file without re-compiling the jsp.
This works fine, but if I let OC4J try to compile the JSP problem still occurs, anyone have any ideas why either of these problems occur?

Is this a bug of JAAS/JAZN in JDev 10.1.3 ?

I implement file based security eith JAAS and JDev10.1.3, that works but there are two strange things that I wonder where it is bug :
1.) When I go to JAZN Data Properties from JDev , I see many 'uncreated' users like : DataBase_User_zbLu50HDPQULTOUZkmbSn3fjEowJ-YHy, DataBase_User_lE4mfb1ETJPcD3sOeYaSfiHw3n0hM8BQ etc, what are these ?
(they get deployed also when I deploy the app to OC4J)
2) When I deploy to OC4J stand alone, my real users I created from JDev for testing do not seem to get deployed, only the 'garbage' users that I mentioned above get deployed.
On the OC4J Server, to make it workm I have to manually copy : jazn-data.xml
FROM : C:\OC4J\j2ee\home\applications\MyApp\MyAppViewArchive\WEB-INF\classes\META-INF
TO : C:\OC4J\j2ee\home\application-deployments\MyApp
Is this also a bug ?

Xtanto,
1) what you call "garbage" users are the database connects you have defined in JDeveloper. You can delete them from jazn-data.xml before deployment. The "garbage" you see is used for password indirection, to make sure the clear password is not added to the jazn-data.xml file
2) Create jazn-data.xml file in your project. Add the users you like to use. Then create orion-application.xml in the same project, which by default points to the jazn-data.xml file in the project. This then should make OC4J using the jazn-data.xml file of your project instead of generating a new one

When I add a validator and specify an appropriate text resource for the error message, JDev deletes my carefully authored description comment from the property resource bundle.

Hi, I am using Oracle supplied HR schema, table EMPLOYEES. I created EO on EMPLOYEES table. All the attributes show correctly as Persistent first.
Under Default Value section, I selected Radio Button "SQL" and entered valid Sql statement, Hit save button. I moved to next attribute, then I see. The previous attribute for which I entered Sql statement as default value, turned to Transient. But this is a Persistent attribute. It is not allowing me to change it back to Persistent.
Hope the above steps will help to reproduce the bug in your system.
