Jdev 11g R1: disable af:panelCollection view menu
Hello,
Is there any way to disable the default view menu of af:panelCollection in this new release?
JVN
I think we address this issue with the ER I filed. If yu don't want to hide the menu as a whole - which was my proposal - plays with skinning and you see that there is a way to hide the the column menu too. For example, the submenu is part of af|menu. Hiding af|menu hides everything, but hiding af|menu af|submenu only hides the sub menus, which there is only one. However it takes some trial and error using firebug to get to an instance specific skin that only touches the column menu you want to disable
So as said, you have 2 options:
- wait for the ER to be implemented (where the is no release date for yet)
- use skinning to find a hook that hides the menu

Minor display bug in JDev 11g "View Annotation" with Subversion
Hi all,
A very minor visual display issue with the "View Annotations" feature of JDev 11g when using a Subversion repository. To reproduce, simply follow these steps:
1). Open up any source file and right-click in the editor; select Versioning -> View Annotation. The annotations will be shown, and if you right-click again, you will see a check-mark next to the "View Annotation" menu item.
2). Open another source file. Annotations are not shown. Right-click in the editor; you will see that "View Annotation" menu item displays a check-mark (even though annotations are not shown). Select Versioning -> View Annotation. Annotations are now shown, but you will see the check-mark is no longer displayed.
To summarize my analysis; it appears that "View Annotation" was intended to be a global setting (as indicated by the check-mark), but is actually implemented on a file-by-file basis. Obviously a very minor display bug not affecting functionality, but a bug nonetheless.
JohnJohn,
I filed a bug

View Menu featuresOff in panelCollection
Hi,
JDev version: 11.1.1.3.0
I need to off "viewMenu" and keep "detach" in panelCollection, but in the following code view menu does not get off. Why this happens? Is it a JDev version issue?
<af:panelCollection id="c_165" featuresOff="viewMenu" inlineStyle="height:80px; width:715.0px;">
<f:facet name="menus"/>
<f:facet name="toolbar"/>
<f:facet name="statusbar"/>
<af:table value="...
</af:panelCollection>
{code}
But, when I try featuresOff="detach", It works. ?
Thanks,
-PrasadWell, the doc for 11.1.1.3.0 says only "freeze", "detach" and "wrap" are supported. This is what you already found out yourself. The link to the rich client demo probably points to the current version. As the server can't be reached (right now) this is only a guess.
I checked 11.1.1.4.0 and this says
>
Supported values are:
Value Turns off
statusBar Status bar
viewMenu 'View' menu
formatMenu 'Format' menu
columnsMenuItem 'Columns' sub-menu item
columnsMenuItem:col1,col20 Columns with column ID: 'col1' and 'col20' inside 'Columns' sub-menu
freezeMenuItem 'Freeze' menu item
detachMenuItem 'Detach' menu item
sortMenuItem 'Sort' menu item
reorderColumnsMenuItem 'Reorder Columns' menu item
resizeColumnsMenuItem 'Resize Columns' menu item
wrapMenuItem 'Wrap' menu item
showAsTopMenuItem Tree/TreeTable 'Show As Top' menu item
scrollToFirstMenuItem Tree/TreeTable 'Scroll To First' menu item
scrollToLastMenuItem Tree/TreeTable 'Scroll To Last' menu item
freezeToolbarItem 'Freeze' toolbar item
detachToolbarItem 'Detach' toolbar item
wrapToolbarItem 'Wrap' toolbar item
showAsTopToolbarItem Tree/TreeTable 'Show As Top' toolbar item
wrap 'Wrap' menu and toolbar items
freeze 'Freeze' menu and toolbar items

So how about an update of your jdev to at least 11.1.1.4.0?

PanelCollection's View menu label became white after skinning
Hi OTN,
I have applied a custom skin to my ADF application, following official guide.
trinidad-skins.xml:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="windows-1252" ?>
<skins xmlns="http://myfaces.apache.org/trinidad/skin">
<skin>
<id>SBAskin.desktop</id>
<family>SBAskin</family>
<extends>fusion.desktop</extends> // not extending fusionFx.desktop ?
<render-kit-id>org.apache.myfaces.trinidad.desktop</render-kit-id>
<style-sheet-name>css/master.css</style-sheet-name>
</skin>
</skins>trinidad-config.xml
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="windows-1251"?>
<trinidad-config xmlns="http://myfaces.apache.org/trinidad/config">
<!--<skin-family>fusionFx</skin-family>-->
<skin-family>SBAskin</skin-family>
</trinidad-config>In master.css there is some slight styling of header and table rows.
After that one of page's panelCollection's "View" menu label became white.
A label in facet:toolbar is also white.
To find out the cause of the problem I deleted everything from master.css. But the labels are still white.
Here is a page structure: http://img843.imageshack.us/i/structure.png/
Please, take a look.
If I switch back to fusionFx family, the colors are ok.
How can I return colors back to normal in current custom skin?
And also, please take a look on a commented code row.
I thought I need to extend fusionFx.desktop as soon as fusionFx is a default skin-family. But <extends>fusionFx.desktop</extends> gives nothing.
That should I extend?
Thanks.
ADF 11.1.1.4
Seems, white color comes from decorative-box with theme="dark".
But why isn't it white with default skin family?
Edited by: ILya Cyclone on Mar 25, 2011 6:46 PMHello,
What Jdeveloper version are you using?
in my application trinidad-config.xml , I have Fusion not FusionFX
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="windows-1252"?>
<trinidad-config xmlns="http://myfaces.apache.org/trinidad/config">
<skin-family>fusion</skin-family>
</trinidad-config>
I doubt this will help you! but you may try it.

JDev 11g JSF design view problem
Hi everyone
I have a problem with JDev 11g
whenever I'm trying to edit a jsf page the design view only shows the tag names like the image below
[http://www.imgplace.com/viewimg134/241/9511g.png]
this is only happens when editing jsf pages and everything is ok while editing jsp
so why is this happening and how to fix it?
thanks
Edited by: user13266332 on Jul 23, 2010 10:09 PMThanks for the link Shay Shmeltzer.
but unfortunately that didn't help much
i tried running jdev.exe with the console open and also enabled "Show Design Time Messages in Log" but i didn't get any error message
also tried adding different libraries to project but the design view still doesn't render the tags.
any other solution? -
Right clicking is not working on any of the websites. I read up that it's a Yahoo sidebar issue. But, in my extentions, Yahoo sidebar is not there. I had removed all toolbars, but from 'view' menu. Now how do I get my right click to work?

When I log on to Firefox, the home page displays a tool bar called "MP3 Tube" powered by Yahoo. I would like to remove that toolbar permanently from my start up page. I have tried to uncheck it in the View menu under Toolbars, but it reappears every time I log off and log back on to Firefox.

JDev 11G Release2 Critical Bug, is it?
Hello, Oracle JDev 11G Colleagues
I think i hit a bug with Release 2 of JDev 11g
Here is the scenario for the bug (the bug happens when using a popup only)
1- Created new simple Fusion ADF Application with JDev 11.1.2.0 without business components.
2- Created a new jspx page.
3- I put a button and a popup on the page
4- Added a showPopupBehavior (operation) on the button and linked it with the popup
5- Up untill now there are no problems when i click the button the popup is showing.
6- Now added a dialog, PanelGroupLayout and an input text or an output text inside the PanelGroupLayout.
7- Added a PopupFetchListener Method on a bean to modify the input text before showing the popup.
8- Binded the Input or output text to the bean.
9- Now when i run the application and click the button to show the popup i get (java.lang.NullPointerException) with the code ADF_FACES-60097.
(it seems like the bean can't see the inputtext which is bounded to it)
10- FYI, tried exactly the same steps with JDev 11G R1 (11.1.1.4) and it is working with no problems.
here is the sample application Download

... 44 moreForget it,, i solved the problem.
Which i think is a bug,, it was something i haven't even thought to look at, because i never faced such problem.
The bug is : Here is what i noticed and i think should be, in all Jdeveloper in general in all releases
the properties of all the UI Components are set to their defaults ,, well guess what only in Jdev R2
the popup when placed in a page its properties are all set to default except two properties:
1- ChildCreation - is set to deferred, which is not the default value which is (<default> (immediate)) --- this property is the cause of the error.*
2- AuotoCancel - s set to disabled, but the default value is (<default> (enabled)) --- this just a note.*
Now after setting the ChildCreation property to its default (which it always was in all previous releases) i can modify the content of the popup even before displaying it to the user (Just like before ^_^) -
11.1.1.4.0 PanelCollection View
Hi,
We are developing an application(11.1.1.4.0) on top of EJB 3.0. In my page we have a table that is embedded within a panelcollection. Inside the panelcollection I have a toolbar with a selectmanychoice drop down menu and a command button. The table is bound to a list in my backing bean, now the problem is the default "View" action within the panelcollection that doesn't behave as expected.
In my page there are some forms in top of the page and the users have to scroll down the page to see the table. When I scroll down and click on the "View" in the panelcollection, the menu doesn't respond. But when I hit the down arrow in my keyboard the menu shows up but not exactly next to the view menu item. It appears on the top of the page.
I created exactly the same page with only the table in it and the "View" menu item works fine. The problem comes up only when I have to scroll down the page to reach the table and hit the "View" menu in the panelCollection. Any ideas?
ThanksWhich JDK are you using?

Error while running HRFacadeClient of JDev 11g Tutorial
Hi,
I was following the tutorial under Build a Web Application with JDeveloper 11g Using EJB, JPA, and JavaServer Faces
Section 19 says to run application under OC4J,
<strong>19.</strong> Right click the <strong>HRFacadeBean</strong> in the Application Navigator and select <strong>Run</strong> from the context menu to launch the facade bean in the Embedded OC4J sever.
Curently OC4J not available under JDev 11g Production version, so it runs under Web-logic Server which comes with JDeveloper 11g. Please see the log below:

SanthoshHi Heidi,
I tried once again to install a fresh instance of Oracle soa suite 10.1.3.0 and upgraded it to 10.1.3.4 successfully. I did all the JDeveloper 11g installation and configure SOA process all successfully. I can create a connection to OC4J using 12401 RMI port successfully but none of my applications are deployed to server.
This message is repeatedly displaying in messages tab:
Exception returned by remote server: com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIConnectionException: Disconnected: oracle.oc4j.admin.management.shared.SharedModuleType. local class incompatible during deploy ...
The default OC4J RMI port is 23791 but in my installation it is set to 12401 when I checked the Runtime Port option of Oracle Application Server and the connection is fine with this port but applications can not be deployed with this configuration.
I can deploy applications on separate standalone OC4J instance successfully but not able to do it with my SOA application server.
Any comments will be appreciated.
Thanks again
Esfand

Jdev 11g Production - Unable to edit EO/ VOs from Application Navigator
I created an ADF Model project. In this project I created ADF's 'Business Components from Tables' using the wizard. I went through the wizard and created EO, VO, AM and business diagram. After that, I was able to execute the AM (right-click and Run), but when I tried to open the EO or VO to edit properties (Right-click and Open), I was unable to do so.
I have created a word document with snapshots of the steps followed and the error I got. Please find it here - http://files.oraclecorp.com/content/AllPublic/SharedFolders/EBS%20Integrations%20Shared-Public/Errors_ADF_BC.doc
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.I suspect a usual useful drive-by-answer from dvohra.
user8028667, under JDev 11g you're right, it should be right click > Open (entity name). This should open the Entity Object document window.
Unfortunately the link you've provided appears to be internal to Oracle and can't be viewed by the vast majority of readers on this external Oracle forum. I'm guessing you're an Oracle employee because of the link you supplied. The Oracle JDev PMs normally point Oracle employees to post on internal forums, not external customer forums.

Hi,
I am getting an error as " Fatal error encountered during file installation. the installer will now cleanup and exit ! " while installing the JDEV on my mac 10.8.2.
I have tried with both java versions 1.6 and 1.7. and I have both the versions of java in mac but in the java preferences page shows only 1.7.
I have tried with shay's blog too.
I have installed other JDEVs 11g versions in my mac but they are success with shay's blog. I have recently updated OS ( with minor version changes) after this update iam unable to install the JDev and unable to view the both the java versions in pref's page
Please help me out.
Thanks
ShyamUnfortunately upgrading to 10.8.2 messes up your previously configured steps and you can no longer rely on Java Preferences to define your JDK setup.
What I suggest is doing this:
1) Delete your current JDev installation + the system directory
2) Ensure that the symbolic link as described in step 3 of the following link is still present and points to actual file
3) Follow the steps in this blog: https://blogs.oracle.com/blueberry/entry/how_to_saddle_your_mountain ... to reinstall JDev.
This should get you back up and running.

Bug in JSF 1.2 RI using in JDev 11g
Hi,
We have found a bug in the JSF RI version used by JDev 11g TP2:
In com.sun.faces.application.ApplicationImpl.createValidator, a MessageFormat is created using an erroneous pattern : created validator of type ''{0''}. This method is called by oracle.adfinternal.view.faces.util.rich.ConverterValidatorRegistrationUtils.addValidatorById. So, when the logging level is set to FINE, this crashes our application.
FYI, this seems to be corrected in the last version (1.2_06) of the JSF RI.
We tried replacing the jsf-api.jar and jsf-ri.jar files in lib\java\shared\oracle.jsf\1.2 with that new version but we are getting compilation errors in our JSPs.
Before we spend time trying to do that, can you please tell me if that sounds like the right thing to do (or if there is another solution). Also, can you please confirm that the subsequent versions of JDev will include a corrected version of the JSF RI.
Thanks.
OlivierHi,
the right place is JDeveloper/jsf-ri for JDeveloper. I'll file a bug

JDev 11g: Best Practice Multi Field Validation / Reset in a Dialog Control
I'm using JDev 11g and want to do the following (excuse my newbie learning curve):
1. Ability for the user to have a "dialog" form that they can edit their user information such as name, password, email, etc.
2. When user clicks OK want the system to validate that password fields are the same (there are two of them).
3. When user clicks Cancel I want the form to reset and the dialog to close.
Sounds easy right? However, I've seen several ways to implement and none of them seem straight forward and don't appear to work like I would want so instead spending the next day coding want to know if there's an easy solution.
For # 2:
The examples on the web use a phase listener for multi-form validation which when using a small dialog in a larger arena seems like overkill since the entire view will get my event right? Is there a similar thing for subform or subview?
Another example uses a listener for value change, however that doesn't work to well when trying to validate two fields match.
For # 3:
A standard OK Cancel dialog does not auto reset a form within it (it leaves the text - even invalid text in the field). Adding my own button for reset doesn't close the form and adding a reset listener doesn't close the form either. Is there a simple way and I'm just overlooking it? Should I use the standard buttons and somehow assign the cancel to reset the form or define my own and somehow close the popup? There's not too much documentation I can find about using Javascript to modify objects such as closing a dialog.
Anyone have the best approach that should be followed with less headache downstream and better portability to other forms with more complex validation? Any examples I missed that shows this working in a dialog?
Thank you,
KrisHi,
I don't understand #2, so ignoring it
#1 You can set the immediate property on the two password fields. In a value change listener you compare the two provided values and if they match, you continue processing. Otherwise you set an error message and call response complete. Note that as much as we like to provide everything declarative, coding is something that we cannot neglect completely in a programming environment.
#3 You can intercept the dialog close event and in this event determine which button was pressed. If it was the cancel button, get the current row from the underlying iterator and call refresh() passing one of the arguments you find when typing "Row." e.g DB refreshWithDBForget.
