JDev 9.0.3 - Working with Custom Tags Hangs JDev Repeatedly!

All,
I recently upgraded from JDev 9.0.2 to 9.0.3 because of the new support for JSP 1.2 and Servlets 2.3. As you probably know, JSP 1.2 includes additional support for custom tag development. Unfortunately, JDev 9.0.3 keeps hanging repeatedly when trying to work with a custom tag library. I have seen a couple other postings on this forum that indicate the fact that I'm not alone in this experience.
It seems that I am able to open a taglib and make a modification, and then save the taglib without a problem. However, if I attempt to make any further changes to that taglib again without restarting JDev, it just hangs JDev and I have to kill the JDev process and restart JDev. This has made JDev extremely frustrating and unusable developing custom tags. I do not have this problem with JDev 9.0.2, but that version does not support the additionally tag library functionality of JSP 1.2, which is supported by 9.0.3.
Is this a bug with 9.0.3? Does anyone know of a workaround I can try?
Thanks in advance,
Kyle Corley

    Other potential things to check: make sure you are getting the right value passed in
    productCatalog="${applicationScope.product}"
    ${product} by preference would take a pageContext, request or session attribute before the application level one (it uses pageContext.findAttribute).
    What do you get if you just print out ${product} on the screen?
    It should call a toString() on it for rendering purposes.

  • How to set the default path of the tag while working with xtype "tags"

    Hi,
    I am working with xtype tag, where i have to select tags in the dialog box. Everything is fine, but my requirement is set the tags path.
    Currently it is defaulted to /etc/tags and showing all the tags. Instead i have show only the single tag path that is required for me.
    Is there any way where i can set the root path and set to my custom tag path like: /ets/tags/mycustomtags/
    Thanks for the support in advance
    Riyaz

    Hi,
    Use namespaces property to set the path. But it only works with namespaces that you directly creates under /etc/tags
    so for example if you want to use or show two namesapces /ets/tags/mycustomtags & /ets/tags/mycustomtags1
    then set this property as
    namespaces       string[]             mycustomtags
                                                       mycustomtags1
    and if you have only want to show one then
    namespaces       string[]             mycustomtags
    I hope it will help you.

  • Discoverer Viewer/Plus does not work with Custom EUL owned by APPS user

    I am facing a unique issue with one of my customers. They have a custom EUL named XX_EUL_US and this does not allow connecting through discoverer viewer or discoverer plus.
    I have worked with custom EULS before at other customers and this was never the case. I am being told that this issue is happening as the EUL owner is APPS instead of some other user. Is this the case? Can discoverer viewer not be used with EULs owned by apps user?
    Please not that the Default EUL in ICX profiles is set to this EUL and no other EUL profiles are set.
    Appreciate any thoughts on this.

    Hi,
    I am not sure what you mean when you say you have a "custom EUL named XX_EUL_US". The EUL table should be created in a schema named XX_EUL_US. This will then be the EUL owner. You will then need to connect to Discoverer Administrator as the EUL owner and grant privileges to Apps users and/or responsibilities.
    The user should then be able to connect to Discoverer Plus/View using their apps username, responsibility and password.
    To be able to connect directly from an apps menu you need to have the ICX parameters set correctly. The ICX: Discoverer Default End User Layer Schema Prefix should be set to XX_EUL (without the _US). The ICX: Discoverer End User Layer Language Override should be set to US or not set at all.

  • Can Actions Menu of Interactive Reports work with Custom Authentication?

    My testing is leading my to believe that Actions Menu do not work with Custom Authentication (but only work with APEX Authentication) in APEX 3.1.2? If that's true then is there a work around to this?
    Just to clarify, I've posted/asked this question twice before:
    1) Re: Actions Menu in Interactive Reports does not sort, filter, select cols etc
    2) Interactive Report actions don't work for users (i.e. for non-developers)
    But I've come to believe this is the main problem. I just don't know how to resolve/work around this?
    Thanks for any help.

    I haven't setup a sample because my custom authentication is using LDAP authentication. I'm not sure how I can replicate that on the samples server?
    I'm using LDAP authentication with a Page Sentry function. My further testing reveals that the Page Sentry function is setting the APEX variable user to NULL (ie blank) whenever there's any code in the Page Sentry function box. PL/SQL code as simple as
    BEGIN return TRUE; END;
    in the Page Sentry function box sets the "user" is set to <null>. When the Page sentry function box is left empty (no code specified) it sets the "user" properly after authentication against the specified LDAP directory.
    What all this has to do with Interactive Reports...
    It seems like when the user is NULL it messes-up Interactive Reports that are stored in the flows database. Although it shows the default report properly, but no runtime interactive actions (filtering, sorting, column break, etc.) work.
    Can someone please correct or confirm this?
    Thanks.

  • ADF wont work with custom LoginModule! Question for Mr. Nimphius!

    ive setup login module as shown in:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/howtos/10g/jaassec/index.htm
    code:
    actionContext.getHttpServletRequest().isUserInRole("Administrators") works! but i also want this code to work in ADF:
    appmod.getSession().isUserInRole("Administrators")
    with default loginmodule "oracle.security.jazn.tools.Admintool" everything is ok! i can get roles in adf but with custom login module i cant!
    in ApplicationModule config i have setup
    jbo.security.config =
    jbo.security.context = oracle.security.jazn
    jbo.security.enforce = Must
    jbo.security.loginmodule = oracle.sample.dbloginmodule.DBTableLM.DBTableLoginModule
    please help!

    thank you very much for the reply!!!!
    i did what you told but no luck... :(((
    i still can not get user role from application module!
    this code:
    if (AppModule.getSession().isUserInRole("Administrators"))
    System.out.println("User is in role! ");
    simply does not work!
    ive tested on standallone oc4j, ive tested on embeded jdveloper 10.1.2.1 !
    i get NullPointerException at at oracle.jbo.server.security.jazn.JboJAZNUserManager.isUserInRole(JboJAZNUserManager.java:113)
    the thing is that i can use isUserInRole() from request but i can not from application modulle....
    ...ive lost hours in decompiling and tracking down ADF code just to realize that there is no way to use custom login module with ADF because the thing is hard coded to use xml or ldap..
    the only way i see how to solve the problem is to extend oracle.jbo.server.SessionImpl
    and override
    getUserRoles()
    and
    isUserInRole(String s)
    i can substitute session class with my own by setting
    SessionClass = oracle.jbo.server.ExtendedSessionImpl
    in file jboserver.properties (which is inside bc4jmt.jar)
    the easier way is to write my own function isUserInRole() in EntityImpl... i always can get user principal name with AppModule.getUserPrincipalName()
    what do you think?

  • Problem with custom tag

    I have written a custom tag that I am having problems with. It works on some machines, but not on others. I have a page that uses many 'standard' tags. I have correctly set the URI etc, because all of my other tags work. However, on some machines, my custom tag gives me an error:
    attribute does not support request time values
    I'm assuming that I have the correct versions of standard.jar etc because all of the regular jstl 1.1 tags work. It is just my custom tag that throws an error.
    here is the .tld for my tag:

    Any thoughts/help greatly appreciated...

    I encountered the same problem in our environment. I did the same thing as
              James. Simply re-initialize all variables in the do end tag.
              Also, with the nested tags you use you may also need to implement cloneable
              in the inner tag if the outer tag keeps references to all the inner tag
              instances.
              For instance if the outer tag kept a vector of references to the inner tag,
              then you would need to use clone() on the inner tag before adding it to the
              vector.

  • Not able to work with customized Java roles which were edited in ABAP stack

    Hello All,
    I am trying to copy standard roles into customized roles (i.e. Z roles) using PFCG in XI system. All ABAP based roles are working fine, but all JAVA based roles are not working. I generated profiles as well. And I check all the authorization objects in both standard and customized roles. Everything look same but customized roles are not working.
    And when I check the logs on JAVA stack I found the error which says " User XXXXXXXXXX IP address HTTP request processing failed. HTTP error [403] will be returned. The error is [You are not authorized to view the requested resource.No details available]."
    I thought there might be any Jco RFC connections missing between the stacks and I tried to check in Visual Admin, but I was not able to find much info regarding these roles.
    Am I missing anything or is there any other way for these roles to make customized roles.
    And can any one tell me how to run a trace for JAVA stack activitites as we do in ABAP using ST01. Any help will be rewarded. Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Farooq.

    Java roles work with influence of permissions in Application Server which we call actions in UME. As you are aware in PI user master record will be in ABAP stack. So the roles in ABAP stack will be having only RFC connections to JAVA stack for the specific JAVA based role. So you need to edit the permission on Java App Server. For that you need to log on to server through visual admin and then go to services and you will find the standard groups assigned to actions. But I don’t remember that under which service you will find them
    Under that service you will find some 200 actions. And you have to add the name of the custom created JAVA roles on ABAP to all those actions where you find the standard roles. And its a very very lengthy procedure. So SAP advice to go for customized ABAP roles and Standard JAVA roles.
    Hope this answer clears your query.
    Farooq.

  • Problem with custom tag attribute types

    Hi,
    I try to figure out how to pass an attribute to a custom tag that is of a type other than "String"?
    In my case, I should pass an attribute with a type of "java.util.ResourceBundle".
    My tag looks like this:
    <tt:cs sel="ab" ce="<%= java.util.ResourceBundle.getBundle("de", Application.getApp().getLocale())%>" />
    I always get the message that the attribute ce is empty.
    Isn't it possible to have attirbutes that are of an other type than string? How could I solve this problem?
    Thanks a lot!
    Regards Patrick

    In JSP 1.2, in the Tag Library Descriptor, you can specify a tagt attribute as
    <attribute>
       <name>attr1</name>
       <required>true|false|yes|no</required>
       <rtexprvalue>true|false|yes|no</rtexprvalue>
       <type>fully-qualified_type</type>
    </attribute> Notice the XML element <type>fully-qualified_type</type>
    Not sure if you can do this in JSP 1.1

  • BT848 TV not working with custom 2.6.22 kernel

    Hi,
    I installed a custom compiled 2.6.22 kernel (built the traditional way, using menuconfig in /usr/src/linux-2.6.22) but then tvtime could not work with my BT848 TV card (error message - "not a video4linux device" and "cannot open capture device /dev/video". The device is there and a simple video app. I wrote myself says:
    cyclops: Opened V4L2 device: /dev/v4l/video0
    cyclops: VIDIOC_QUERYCAP: error 25, Inappropriate ioctl for device
    The TV worked with kernel 2.6.21, although to listen to radio with gqradio I had to start tvtime first to get any sound. I double checked my config but can't see anything missing, I have compiled custom kernels many times and so I could say I am not inexperienced. I am using latest Arch x86-64 on an AMD Athlon 64 machine.

  • Exception Handling with Custom Tags/Exceptions

    Hello all --
              I'm looking for some guidance in handling Custom errors in my app. I can't
              seem to find the message string of my custom exception when trying to call
              my JSP Error page. I'm consistently getting:
              javax.servlet.jsp.JspTagException: runtime failure in custom tag
              'CalendarHandler' .
              I am using custom JSP tag libraries to process logic on my EJBs. When I
              reach an error in business logic I raise a custom exception and propogate
              this back up to doStartTag:
              public int doStartTag() throws JspException {
              CalendarProcessor cp = new CalendarProcessor();
              try {

              // pageContext contains information for the JSP;
              // Initialize the page with the current context and session
              cp.init(pageContext.getServletContext(), pageContext.getSession());
              HttpServletRequest req = (HttpServletRequest)pageContext.getRequest();
              cp.processRequest(req, eventAction );
              } catch (CalendarException ce) {
              throw new JspException(ce.getMessage());
              return SKIP_BODY;
              Then, in my JSP, I am enclosing the TagHandler in a try...catch block; I
              can't catch CalendarException because it is Throwable and conflicts with

    I have tried many ideas, such as packaging the tag handler class, and putting the class file in other loctions, but nothing has helped.
    I know that Tomcat is recognizing PhotoListTag at some point (when it parses the TLD file, but not when compiling the JSP, I think), because if i change the <tag-class> to an invalid class, i get an "Unable to load class photoList" (which is a confusing error message btw, as photoList is not a class, but a tag name).
    Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I've been going in circles for hours, and i'm thinking this problem has a simple solution.

    Thank you for your quick replies. Unfortunately, they do not solve my problem. If I put PhotoListTag in the com.yourdomain package (and move it to classes/com/yourdomain), the error changes to reflect the different package (e.g. package com.yourdomain does not exist). Also, deleting the class files and restarting Tomcat did not cause any changes.
    Although my knowledge of how Tomcat works is limited, it seems to me that something like this is happening:
    When a request for /photodb/photolist.jsp is recieved, tomcat processes that file, processes the tld file, and checks for that any classes called using a tag--in this case <photodb:photoList>--exist. If the class is invalid, the error message "Unable to load class photoList" is given.
    Otherwise, it translates the jsp into java, and attempts to compile it. This is where the problem occurs. It seems that the jasper compiler does not know where to look for the PhotoListTag class. Is there a way that this can be changed, or is could the problem be caused by something else?

  • Build-time errors with custom tags in wkshop sp3

    We have custom tags which create tag variables declared in the .tld file as follows:
    <tag>
    <name>contentsIterator</name>
    <tag-class>org.cap.documentaccess.taglibs.ContentsIteratorTag</tag-class>     <tei-class>org.cap.documentaccess.taglibs.ContentsIteratorTEI</tei-class>
    <body-content>JSP</body-content>
    <display-name>Contents Iterator</display-name>
    <description>
    </description>
    <variable>          <name-from-attribute>id</name-from-attribute>          <variable-class>org.cap.documentaccess.Content</variable-class>
    <declare>true</declare>
    <scope>NESTED</scope>
    </variable>
    <attribute>
    <name>id</name>
    <required>false</required>
    <rtexprvalue>false</rtexprvalue>
    <description>
    </description>
    </attribute>
    The calling jsp contains the following:
    <cap:contentsIterator id="content">
    The app built fine in wkshop(sp2) but in sp3 we get the following:
    A name-from-attribute variable cannot reference a tag attribute that is request time or is not required.
    Has the sp3 compiler become less forgiving or was this an oversight in sp2?

    if u are using weblogic workshop for ur application import c.tld into WEB-INF
    and just import standard.jar, jstl.jar to WEB-INF/lib.
    if u are using other than weblogic work shop like tomcat
    1.just copy c.tld to WEB-INF.
    2.create a 'lib' directoty inside WEB-INF copy standard.jar,jstl.jar files to that lib directory.
    i think it should work.
