JDev Locks up entire machine

I have recently moved from a Dell Inspiron 8100 (Pentium III 1.0Ghz w/512mb of RAM)to a Inspiron 8200 (Pentium IV 1.6Ghz w/512mb of RAM) and I am now experiencing problems with my entire machine locking up when I run JDev. The lockup does not occur with any particular action. Sometimes it happens within a few minutes of opening Jdeveloper and other times I can run for an hour or so. It locks up the machine so that the only way to recover is to shut it off at the power switch. I have heard of issues with Pentium 4s and the JVM but I am not sure this is the case. I dowloaded the latest version from OTN and reinstalled JDev. I even went so far as to rebuild my entire workspace and all of the projects it contains. The lockup happens in both JDev RC2 and Jdev Version 9.0.2.829.
Any ideas what could be causing this?
Thanks,
Brad Gibson

Have you had any other problems with the Inspiron 8200? I have an 8100 (1.1MHz, 512Mb RAM), and I experienced lockups with the original BIOS. After upgrading the BIOS to a later revision, the lockups at least seem to have gone away. In my case, the lockups would happen doing lots of different thinks - using IE, or sometimes just copying lots of files. Needless to say, it was a very serious problem.
From what I remember reading, the lockups were due to overheating issues, and the BIOS fixes adjusted the fans so they run more frequently. The problems seemed to occur more often when using third-party RAM (like I was), due to differences in the power consumption and size of the DIMMs. Hopefully Dell didn't build the 8200 with the same problem.
I would suggest checking the Dell support newsgroups to see if other 8200 users are experiencing lockups with their machines, and if, they are, if there are known solutions.
If this turns out to not be the case, please let us know, and we can investigate other possibilities.

  • Mouse tooltip is locking the entire system

    Hello friends at www.oracle.com ,
    after defining some tooltips to Forms fields like text items, display items, push buttons, etc., I've seen that the following sequence of actions may cause a system lock. (Assume there's a main Forms program, and a Forms sub-program has been called through main menu.)
    1. Put the mouse pointer over a field that has tooltip text.
    2. Close the Forms sub-program by pressing ALT-F4 (Windows shortcut to close any program); it will take you back to the Forms main program. (Tooltip text will still stay stopped at mouse position)
    3. Move to another Windows program, like Explorer for example, and try to return to the main program. This main program is now locked, shows the 'Working...' message at hint line, and stays locked.
    Only CTRL+ALT+DEL will stop it, and the Forms main program never sends any answer.
    Could you please tell me why does a simple tooltip may lock an entire system?
    Hope I was clear - if not, please ask me.
    Thanks, and best regards,

    Quit the App Store app and reset your iPad.
    Double click the Home button to show the screen with running and recently used apps. Each app icon will have a sample page above it. Flick up on the page (not the app icon) and the page will fly away and the app icon will disappear. This quits that app. Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

  • How is it possible that in preference the lock by Time Machine is unlocked the day after i locked it

    How is it possible that in preference the lock by Time Machine is unlocked the day after i locked it

    The crossdomain security policy stuff is annoying, but it's there to prevent this sort of scenario:
    Joe Blackhat writes a flash game about Bob the Goldfish. Joe Blackhat decides that a fun thing to do might be to write an SMTP client in ActionScript so that fans of Bob the Goldfish could unknowingly send spam while they play. Bob the Goldfish game goes viral. Everyone is playing it and spam volume bajillion-duples. Spam kills the internet. The End.
    This is facetious and contrived, but without crossdomain security policies, the internet would be a much more dangerous place. JavaScript has even more restrictive crossdomain policies. I don't think this is going away.

    Try chatting with an Adobe Support Specialist:

    This may take awhile: you may find yourself chatting (via typing) with someone from India, but they are good at solving these kind of problems.

  • Updating  a  row  in  table  exclusive  lock on entire table

    Hi
    We have table master table and few child tables .
    when we try to update a row in master table , it is locking entire table
    i.e seems update process holding exclusive lock on entire table
    it is not allowing any furthur update to that table
    Could you please tell me what could be the problem for that
    Thanks,

    Does the table has primary key - foreign key relationship? Try disabling the constraint and see if it works. If it works then it is about unindexed foreign key issue.

  • Lock the entire computer, except for one program?

    I am having my 20th high school reunion this weekend and was wondering if there is a way to lock my entire MacBook except for a guestbook I would probably make in Filemaker Pro or something. Thanks in advance!

    create a normal user (no admin) , and censured all the program except filemaker. you can find this option in account setting.
    look at create user account:

  • Locked into Time machine

    Has anyone else been locked into Time machine? I've just had to reboot due to being locked into Time machine, which by the way seemed unreasonably empty.
    I went into to look for a file from several months ago and could only find files for the last month or so, Time machine clearly registered that its database stretched back a couple of years but each entry was empty. When I tried to exit Time machine I couldn't. In the end I had to use the power button to force a restart.
    Is it just me or is OSX getting more and more flakey with each release. 10.3 was solid but since then (the switch to Intel?) the OS has been tripping up more and more.

    Hello, not sure how this might affect a TM drive, or not, but...
    Here is what i needed to do for my drive "320GB HD", the last command is just for clean up
    Open Terminal and type these commands carefully with the spaces & change 320GB HD to the name of your drive.
    sudo chflags 0 "/volumes/320GB HD"
    sudo chown root "/volumes/320GB HD"
    sudo chmod 1775 "/volumes/320GB HD"
    sudo -k
    That said, these should be sufficient to do the job:
    sudo chflags 0 "/Volumes/320GB HD"
    sudo chmod a+rx "/Volumes/320GB HD"

  • Will it lock the entire table?

    Here is the table structure……….
    Table1(columnP, column1, column2) where columnP is the primary key.
    Update Table1 set column1 =’22’ where column1 =’11’
    In the above code,
    1.     Primary key is not used in the where criteria for the update.
    2.     Updating the same column which is used in the WHERE criteria.
    Does the above code will lock the entire table to update the data?

    This would (of course) lock only the rows with column1='11', regardless of your oracle version.
    Regardless also, whether there is a primary key or not, by the way.

    How can a password be assigned to lock an entire LLB of VIs? I have a great number of VI's that I have placed into a few LLB's. I would like to lock them with a password without having to load and save each one individually. Is there a way to do this?
    Many Thanks...

    If you have labview 8.x you can make or build  a source distribution. If you do it correct. You can make a mirror of your current project, but with password. I find it more convenient working this way. See picture.

  • [SOLVED] Virtualbox VM Hard Locks Entire Machine

    This is a very strange issue. I have a Windows 7 VM that I use for school. Last week, it was working just fine. However, today whenever I start the VM, my entire laptop hard locks. It locks so hard that I cannot switch to a TTY, the mouse cursor is froze, the screen stops, it's locked up HARD and the only thing I can do is forcefully turn it off.
    This VM is critical for me, is there any way to get this working again?
    Edit: I forgot to mention I tried rebuilding the kernel modules and restarting.

    See wonder's post.  What is required is:
    /etc/rc.d/vboxdrv setup
    I did do that before posting this thread, and it did not fix it.

  • Flash content locks entire machine

    I'm using Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.3 with Flash Player 9 under

  • How to copy a Jdev project to another Jdev on a different machine

    I have an application running in JDev 9052 using uix and bc4j objects connecting to an Oracle database. It is running on a Terminal Server Windows 2000 machine.
    I want to move this project to a different PC in a different location running Windows XP professional and Oracle Personal Version.
    I have done a clean install of JDeveloper 9052 and zipped up the project on the Terminal Server and downloaded it to the new location. I setup my JDeveloper environment to be identical to the original. Same JDevhome and My work environment and so on.
    The only difference is that the connection information is slightly different since the host name and SID are different. The connection name is the same.
    After unzipping the project into the new environment, I open the projects JWS file to add it in. I then rebuild the bc4j and web portions of the project. I can then run the bc4j part and see the database records. I can also open up my UIX pages in the preview section and they connect to the database properly.
    When I run the application from JDeveloper I get the following error: The page cannot be found
    This is caused by the URL being rendered improperly. What it tries to find is:
    http://192.168.1.101:8988/SMART/Login.uix%20"%1"
    If I erase the characters at the end in the browser address field and get:
    http://192.168.1.101:8988/SMART/Login.uix
    Then the application will work.
    The only thing I can figure out is that I don't transfer the application properly.
    Does anyone have any ideas on what is wrong here?
    Thanks ver much, Steve

    Here is how I got it working
    1. open the projects and make sure the Dependencies are checked for the other project
    2. open the JClient client project that contains the calling form
    3. select the databinding.cpx file and you see that one datacontrol is used
    4. To add the other datacontrol (the other BC project) select an attribute from it in the data control palette and drop it to the calling JClient panel.
    5. Delete the create item because all that we care for is to get the the second data control registered in the project's cpx file
    6. Open the databinding.cpx file of the second (the called JClient project) and copy everything between the <containee> elements into the clipboard. Note that you can have one or more of them
    For my example, the databinding.cpx content of the second JClient project contained the following binding reference
    <Containee
    id="FormUIModel"
    ObjectType="BindingContainerReference"
    FullName="mypackage3.FormUIModel" >
    </Containee>
    7. Open the databinding.cpx file of the calling project in a text editor and paste the content of the clipboard to it. Save the file.
    8. Add the following code to a button that calls the JClient form in the other project (in my example the called form has a name of "Form" and is in a packe mypackage3 that I imported
    Form frm = new Form();
    frm.setBindingContext(panelBinding.getBindingContext());
    frm.setVisible(true);
    The reason you have to do all this is because the binding context is passed from one form to the other, which means that its databinding.cpx file need to contain all the binding information.
    You could make your life a lot simpler if you don't use two model projects. But this is your design decision and i can only tell you how to get it working.
