JDev Newby Question: Visual Assist forms on attributes (like JD Edwards)

Hi,
Normally I use JD Edwards Enterprise One as software for ERP.
Now for a customer we are starting to use JDeveloper to develop a custom website for them.
Usually in JD Edwards it is possible to associate a Data Dictionary (attribute in JDev), which represents a column in a table or a field on the form, with a "Visual Assist".
This Visual Assist can provide you with the correct information for this Data Dictionary (or attribute). When you click it, you'll get to another form where you can select the data you want. Much like an LOV.
In JDeveloper this feature is not automatically generated. Only the Data functionallity on an attribute provides a calender where you can select the date you want.
Is there anyone who also uses JD Edwards Enterprise One, and who knows how to build a Visual Assist form?
Is is then also possible to make this Visual Assist an automated feature on an attribute? So every time this attribute is added, this Visual Assist will be included in the form?

Check out the LOV feature of ADF BC - it allows you to associate a list of values to a field - and then in the UI the field, by default, will have a button to open the list of values to choose a value.

Column value substitution in tabular form element attributes

I also mentioned this at Re: how to make only some rows editable in html db.
but thought that this deserves its own thread.
In Doug's sample Sudoku application in that thread, he uses #COLUMN# substitution in the Form Element Attributes and it works fine, but in my example page at http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=24317:219 I used the same technique and no matter what I do, the #COLUMN# substitution is not expanded by the Apex engine.
This is driving me nuts, any ideas why it works in one application but not in another?

The styling looks terrible, not sure why, the template is simply

</tr>I had a lot of trouble getting this to work because the wizard generated tabular form appends 2 hidden fields containing the PK and the row-checksum to the last (editable?) field on each row. If the last editable field has #COL# substitution, it expands the substitution and forgets to close the INPUT tag thus causing malformed HTML (I think this is a bug in the rendering engine).
The readonly condition is sal>1000 which now works. The SAL>1000 fields are now readonly.
But now the update process is broken. If I enter a number in the first blank SAL field (empno=3641) and click Submit, I get no errors but the change is not saved. Wonder why.
Hopefully, Scott (Spadafore) will take mercy on our amateurish experiments and give us some definitive answers soon!

Wee inconsistency in region template "Form Table Attributes"

In the region template definition there is a field for specifying form table attributes. If I specify table attribute(s) they work as expected. If I then add an item type of "Stop and start table" to the region, the custom attributes are not used in the subsequent tables.
It's a minor thing... perhaps this can be fixed (or has been fixed) in 3.0?

In the Source section set
Source value or expression to be the name of the database column that has the URL (company_url)
Post calculation Computation to be '<a h ref="' || :pxx_company_url || '">' || :pxx_company_url || '</a>'; where pxx_company_url is the page-item name.
I have specified 'h ref' instead of 'href' so that the forum software doesnt mess up the post.

Those requirements are go way beyond what PDF forms can do and are meant for, some of them would require involving other programs or are mutually exclusive and contradictory. You are wasting your time even thinking about doing this as an "offline" PDF form. Simply sign up for an online forms/ survey service like FormsCentral or Surveymonkey.

Basic questions in adobe form

Hello Experts,
i have a few questions in adobe forms
when we first create a form, in the left side of the screen, we have a hierarchy i.e
*MASTER PAGE
CONTENT AREA
UNTITLED FORM PAGE
can you pls explain the concepts of the above... can we have more than 2 master pages in a single page? whats this content area? can we have more than one?
Suppose if i want to build a form with the following elements :
Header part : which should be displayed in all the pages
Body part: which should display internal table which should flow to the next page
immediately after the display of the internal table, i should display some other text
Footer part: should be displayed in all the pages
Now my question is, if i want to build this form, which elements should be a part of what i.e master page or content area or untitled form page?

MASTER PAGE:
Master pages specify the layout and background for the form design. You can add objects that will occupy the position throughout the form design on a master page. The Master Pages tab is hidden by default. A typical form design that has two pages with different dimensions contains at least two master pages, one for each page.
CONTENT AREA:
Content areas provide anchoring and layout management for all the objects in a form, including subforms.
UNTITLED FORM PAGE:
Pages represent the pages of a form. Each page derives its size and orientation from a master page and, by default, each page is associated with the default master page that LiveCycle Designer creates. Each page is created with a default subform that covers the whole page. If your form design contains more than one master page and page, you can choose which master page to assign to a page.

For the form designing, put the header and footer part in the Master page as it has to appear in every page. For the table display wrap the table in subform and make the contect type as "Flowed". This will make the table to grow to other pages.

Few common questions about Mobile Forms

I have a few questions about mobile forms:
Can a form be integrated with a portal, which is build NOT on Adobe CQ\AEM technology?
I've created a form and loaded it to the server repository via Form Manager. Now I can access it in my browser like this:

And the question is: what is the right way to share forms to users on a production environment (without integration in a portal pages on so on, let it be just a link to a form which users have to fill in)? I mean, should it be the same link, or it is only for developers need and to share forms to users some other way must be used?

For integrating on custom portal, you would need to integrate with form submit proxy for handling of submission as mentioned @ http://helpx.adobe.com/livecycle/help/mobile-forms/mobile-forms-service-proxy.html.
As far as url of form is concerned, it’s really up you. You can choose to hide the request parameters as couple of other customers are doing. You can find more information about hiding form template and content root from request parameter @ http://blogs.adobe.com/foxes/hide-parameters-from-mobile-form-url/

Max number of questions in Studio forms

Is there is a limit to the number of questions you can add in a Studio form?

I'm not sure if there is a max number of questions in a form, but we have encountered issues when using Studio on a SQL server with a max amount of data being stored in a record.
It seems that SQL server can only store a max of 8060 bytes per row. This has caused us a few headaches, especially after the studio wizard allows the form, but when you go to
submit the form you get an error message.
Its not an issue with an Oracle database though!

What you try archive. Form element attributes is not place where you enter HTML. You enter only attributes there like
onmouseover="toolTip_enable(event,this,'Customer Code')"PS: when posting code wrap it to {noformat}{noformat} tags

Are Form-type attributes available in the Oracle Workflow included in the Oracle Database 10g or do I need to install the Oracle Workflow included in the Oracle Application Server 10g?

How to get rid of the annoying question : "Close This Form?" while exiting?

When trying to exit a form without doing any changes, sometimes the form asks the question : "Close this Form?".
I would like to prevent this question, but I have not found any way to catch this (I've put PAUSE command in the ON-MESSAGE trigger at form level, but it does not fire...)

Contact Apple support at 800MYAPPLE and ask them to assist you with resetting your security quesitons.
They will ask you to verify your identity. Not usually a big issue. Call them ask for assistance.
They can walk you through getting the security question issues resolved.

How do I get my Web Form - to look like - Paper Form

I have several fairly complicated forms in PDF and WORD.
I was hoping the acrobat form wizard could convert them and then i could import them to formcentral to be then embedded as html forms on website.
Problem is:
1. imported forms can not be converted into embedded html
2. from reading help, i would have to re-design/author the form from scratch.
Which I am willing to do:
Provided:
1. I can actually create a form that looks like the original online (or similar to)
2. I can then print this as PDF (so that it looks exactly like the original pdf) or that it actually fills the original PDF fields from the original pdf document.
IS THIS POSSIBLE?

I want to have a form online that looks like the form on paper.
the client can fill it out.
submit
it sends him a copy of the completed form
it sends us a copy of the complted form
if it needs to be changed, a staff member can edit it.
what do I have to do to achieve this?
