JDev10G: Struts Diagramming and Action calls in JavaScript

I've noticed that a Struts diagram does not reflect actions that are called from within JavaScript methods. Is this something that will be included in JDeveloper 10G 9.0.5 production?

We are not currently going into the code (java or java script) to look for action calls. I will enter an enhancement request for this functionality.

Struts Diagram and CVS Problems

We're having a difficult time with the StrutsPageFlow.oxd_struts and CVS. Anytime a developer makes a change to the Struts diagram and commits the struts-config.xml file, the StrutsPageFlow.oxd_struts file also gets committed. When a different developer updates the struts-config.xml file the StrutsPageFlow.oxd_struts file has a conflict on just about every item. We're also encountering this on our *.jpr and bc4j.xcfg files.
JDeveloper 10g is stealing a lot of our time as we're having to manually work around a lot of CVS conflicts on files that are not shown in the project but associated with project files like the struts-config.
Anyone else having CVS issues with these "behind-the-scene" files?

Unfortunately, this is a known issue. The only workaround we can suggest for struts at the moment is using an exclusive editing mode. Whenever a developer needs to modify the struts diagram, he should issue a cvs edit. Other developers should use the "List Editors" functionality in JDev to check whether someone is currently editing the file.
We're working on resolving these team development issues in the 10.1.3 release.

ActionForms and Actions

I have managed to make a console extension for my custom authentication provider. But there is one problem - how to handle submitted form data. Currently there is no quality tutorial at weblogic sites :( I found some but there are some steps skipped!
I only know that I have to make Struts ActionForms and Actions. But I really do not know how.
Could you please help me.

These are 2 very different things.
Function modules are called on the server-side in the BSP controller or event-processing... No fancy thing here, this is only ABAP.
Javascript is used on the client side and called from the view of your BSP. You can write Javascript code directly in a BSP view or use MIME repository to store your .js files
In advanced aspects, you can use Javascript to call server using AJAX but you should get familiar with the basic aspects first.

Script help - caller's ANI and workflow call control actions

Greetings!
Apologies in advance for the wall of text.
What does work: We have a main script where we do a database lookup on the caller's ANI - specifically, their area code. If there is a match in the DB we queue the call to a regional queue. If there is no match (some block their caller ID, or the ANI is less than 10 digits) we queue the call to a general queue. This works. Every time.
Except ..
So the call comes in, we do a successful lookup and route to the regional queue. The agent handles the call and transfers the caller to another queue. The agent in the second queue discovers the caller needs to go back to the regional queue and we have a call control action configured to handle this. And this is where I'm looking for some help.
And so, the call control action setup does a blind conference back to the main script which does the lookup again based on the original caller's ANI and routes the call to the regional queue. However, everyone can hear everyone and the business unit would prefer the customer not be aware of the agents talking until the agents want to bring the customer into the conversation.
So, if I change the call control action to another option (supervised conference) I lose the ability to route the call based on the original callers ANI. The main script queues the call to the general queue. I've done the reactive debugs and the caller ANI does not populate, the extension of the agent initiating the call control action populates the ANI field. What's more confusing is the caller ANI does populate in the enterprise data on the agent desktop. So the data must be "there" somewhere, I'm not sure how to get it so I can do the DB lookup.
What am I missing?

That's an nice way to do this. But I found another way around simple enough for the end customer too. It gives the ability to change things themselves.
a) Under System Parameters > Media Parameters enable the 'User Prompts override System Prompts' parameter
b) Create a subfolder (named el_GR in my case) under Applications > Prompts .../gen/phone
c) Upload your number prompts recorded in the language you want
d) Modify the 'Create Generated Prompt' as shown to the screenshot
e) Now you can hear the string numbers in your language

JDeveloper IDE Crashing using double click on DataAction in struts-diagram.

Has anyone had this problem with Jdeveloper10g?
We have a workspace for an application that has grown fairly large. The
problem happens when we try to drag a DataAction from the Component Palette
onto the struts-diagram when in the the JDeveloper10g IDE and then
double click the icon to create a data action. We get this message:
An Error has occurred in the Java VM
An operation has failed because an error has occurred in the Java VM. The current
activity may fail and the system may have been left in an unstable state. The following
is a stack trace.
java.lang.StackOverflowError
If further errors occur, you should restart the application.
If the error was an OutOfMemoryError, try closing some components, such as some
diagrams, or increase the Java heap size.
Also, report the problem on the JDeveloper forum on otn.oracle.com, or contact Oracle
support, giving the information in this message.
The Version of JDeveloper we are using is: 10.1.2.1.0 Build 1913 but we also had the
same problem using this same workspace in Build 1811. If we try a different workspace
there is no problem and we don't see the issue. Neither do we see the problem if we drag
either a DataPage or a plain Action from the Component Palette and the double click
either of those to create a Jsp page or an action.
We have spent hours using diffing software recursively on the workspace directories trying
to determine what may have gone wrong. We have eliminated a great deal from the problem
workspace including deleting everything from the struts-diagram (In a copy of the ws of course).
We really can't afford to rebuild the workspace from scratch and this problem causes us a
significant headache. It seems like a serious bug in JDeveloper itself.

Problem Solved! This condition is caused by a circular dependency set up when the view was checked as a depndency for the model. We had a small class in the view that was being used in the model so the model was made dependant on the view and this causes an infinite loop condition of some sort when double clicking on a newly dropped in DataAction as described below.

How can I have a backing file call a JavaScript function?

I have a Weblogic portal with a JSP portlet. The portlet has a backing file. How can I get the backing file to call a JavaScript function in my portlet?

your questions are not correct because you are mixing up server side operations with client side operations.
First server side code executes then the page is sent to the browser , then any javascript executes on the browser. So asking for javascript to be called from backing file (server side) doesn't make sense or asking for javascript to read a parameter doesnt exactly work either.
However in your server code suppose you have a variable action in the request that you want javascript to know then in your JSP you would add something like

i.e. you can output the javascript that has the variables you need or the function calls you want.
Like I said understand whats server side and whats client side.

How to call that javascript file?

How to call a javascript function from XSL

I'd a requirement to take an action each time a page loads
I called the javascript function from addLoadEvent() available in javascript.
But my reviewer commented that it should be called using XSL as we are using XSLT,
What is preferred?
To pass function name to the already available function or somehow call it from xsl ? if second is preferred option then,
how to call a function through XSLT, if it is to be called aftr the page loads?

Set a new servlet to form.action in a Javascript method

Hi!
I have a JSP page with a form where I set a servlet to call on submit in the action attribute. This servlet is supposed to be called when pressing the submit button at the end of the page.
In JSP:
<form action="<c:url value="/commitment"/>" method="POST" name="CommitmentAdd">
My problem is that I have a select box inside my form where I use 'onchange' to call a Javascript method, and in that method I want to set another servlet to the forms action (using the servlet-mapping url-pattern name in my web.xml file).
(I want the JSP page to change due to what you choose in the select box and I'd like to have that code in a separate servlet.)
In Javascript:
document.CommitmentAdd.action="/commitmentAddReload";
document.CommitmentAdd.submit();
When the Javascript method is called I get the error:
"The requested resource (/commitmentAddReload) is not available."
How can I set a new servlet to be found and called on submit?

Where to call the javascript function

I am using JSF and ADF.
I have a javascript function called by the body onload.
The javascript is to set the first the first column of a table fixed.
But when I click the next page link which is generated by defaut,
the function from the javascript disappears.
Can I call a javascript function when pressing the next page link which is
generated by default ?

My javascript function is to make the first column of the table fixed which
is something like the function in the Excel.
The function is called by body onload.
But when the 'next page' link is clicked, it will not refresh the whole page.
The above cannot be called.
So I wanna add it during the action of pressing the link.

Alternatively, you can base the "transient" attribute on a SQL expression or SQL function.
High level steps to implement an action item that calls a stored produce include:
- Add the button to the generated page
- Add a forward to the group router that picvks up the name of the button and forwards to a custom action
- Write a custom Struts action that calls a custom method on your handler
- This custom method can use the BC4J app module to obtain a DBTransaction, and then create and execute a CallableStatement that calls your stored procedure.

netui:form how do i create Action URL in JavaScript

i can call the action method from the java script but actionForm is not passing
to JPF....

The javascript that you suggested is similar to what we're using. When the onChange
message is fired, both bits of javascript produce the following url;
http://localhost:7001/mpsportal/getVersion.do?product_id=1
This works fine in the weblogic browser but not in portal. If you use an anchor
to fire the action, portal creates the following url;
http://localhost:7001/mpsportal/mpsportal.portal?_nfpb=true&portlet_1_1_actionOverride=/portlets/task/getVersion
So I've tried to put the 'extra bits', namely 'mpsportal.portal?_nfpb=true&portlet_1_1_actionOverride=/portlets/task/'
into the javascript as below;
javascript:window.location='mpsportal.portal?_nfpb=true&portlet_1_1_actionOverride=/portlets/task/getVersion.do?product_id='+document.forms[0][getNetuiTagName('product_id')].value;
When this is run in portal it produces exactly the same url that portal produces
except it has the parameter tagged onto the end;
http://localhost:7001/mpsportal/mpsportal.portal?_nfpb=true&portlet_1_1_actionOverride=/portlets/task/getVersion.do?product_id=1
Unfortunately portal doesn't like the parameter on the end and gives an error
message 'Unable to find action getVersion.do?product_id=1'. The problem is that
the value on the form, the product id in this case is not stored when the javascript
jumps back to the server so it has to be sent in the url.
If we can find a way of sending these values through in the url without portal
complaining OR forcing the form to submit its values then its problem solved.

Expanding and clarifying what BJD said;
After you create the temporary sub-VI that BJD mentioned, open its front panel and copy the reference control that LV created when it created the sub-VI.
This reference control will be correct class etc that you need. Use the control to replace the original control that you were attempting to wire up.
The technique of "create sub-VI...copy" always works for me.
There is one more thing that you should watch out for.
The mechanical action of the boolean can not be set for latch action when attempting to read the value using a value property node.
