Jdeveloper 10.1.3 and serena dimensions 10.1

Dear All,
as jdeveloper 10.1.3 seems support serena dimensions 9.1 (which is obsolete), is it possible do to some config
to make jdev work with the new version dimensions 10.1??
when i try to invoke the serena dimensions version support in jdevoloper, it always report
"Dimensions versioning operations not available, could not find dmcli in the system path."
(even though i have install the necessary serena client program dmcli.exe)
is it possible do some config to try to let jdev recognize the path to the dmcli.exe??
(as i think serena dimensions 9.1's command for checkin/checkout is compatible with serena dimensions 10.1...)
thank you.

Marcos,
both IDE's run off a directory (unzipped into different directories), so there is no conflict to expect. Just use the full versions that come with their own VM

  • JDeveloper and Serena Dimensions

I have just upgraded to JDeveloper 10.1.3.2.0 with Serena Dimensions extension 10.1.3.40.66. We use Serena Dimensions 9.1. I can connect with the Dimensions server with no problem and can set the workset version but can never get the check in/check and similar versioning menu items to be non-grayed. How do I get to where I can move code to/from Dimensions?

    Hi,
If you go to the Help button on JDev and run check for updates, you should be able to select Dimensions from the list of Extensions retrieved. If you then select Versioning from the Main Menu, then "Select Versioning System" Dimensions should be added.
Select this and then create your connection and workspace.
For Versioning->Check Out to be activated from the main menu or context menu. You need to have an existing project pointing at sources you pulled from dimensions using the serena client. Also, jdev needs to be connected to the dimensions server and the file needs to be in the checked in state before it can be checked out.
Let me know if you're still stuck.

Syncronizing with the Dimensions client or from a file explorer works fine.
I have tried to reinstall both jdev, Dimensions client and the extension with the same result.
This makes the extension pretty useless.

    Hi,
    1. Disabling auto checkout
go to menu Tools -> Preferences -> Versioning -> Dimensions -> General
this is the GUI approach to manipulating the preferences xml file that you have found. You should never need to amend this file manually
1.c/2 We have an ER to provide a way to work on a file locally/writeable. It is not possible in this version. You could use the file system to set the file to writeable, but it is not supported
3.a the Help files are the only documentation that we provide. It is not expected to be a full tutorial on Dimensions, but to support using the JDEV UI to interact with Diremnsions.
What do you feel is missing from help?
I have noticed that the Tools - Preferences for Dimensions are not documented in help and I will get a bug raised for that.
    b. the lock icon does, indeed, mean logged out. If you hover the mouse over the file in question the tool tip gives the meaning of the icon.
ii. I don't recognise this second icon. Can you reproduce it and hover over the file - let me know what it is, I will get the icons updated in Help

  • How to populate member values to Year and Period Dimensions

    Hi,
I have set up the following members in account dimension:
    Lease From (Date Type)
    Lease To (Date Type)
    Lease Amount (Currency Type)
If I input Jan-2012 in Lease From, Nov-2013 in Lease To and 1,000 in Lease Amount, all in BegBalance->Fy12, how can I populate the 1,000 to the correponding Period and Year dimensions using business rule. I need 1,000 in Lease Amount->Fy12->Jan all way through to Lease Amount->Fy13->Nov. I do not want to create a input form with all the years and periods for monthly input as I may have over 100 lease information with different from and to dates.
Or is there any alternate method I can get the expected results.
    Thanks.

    Hi
This is a really complex problem! It may help you to look at the documentation around the CapEx planning module as this is Oracle's take on calculating asset depreciation etc on a similar basis (create asset in BegBalance -> NoYear and calculate which periods to poulate depreciation data in using dates, variables and rules). The business rules are presented in full in the doc below but I warn you the code is complex and not easy to understand, although you may get the principles
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/cpx_admin_11122.pdf
You ought to be able to do something using dates and period / year indicies (remember dates are stored in Essbase in something like the format YYYYMMDD, e.g. 20121107 so should be easy to compare whether the date for the period is within range of the dates entered).
I have also tried to do something similar using smartlists in a prototype before but this proved a bit more complicated and not necessarily any more reliable than using dates
    Hope this helps

  • Date and Time dimensions

After reading the following article, I have decided to use SSAS dimension wizard for generating our Date dimension, which creates a DATETIME PK.
    http://www.made2mentor.com/2011/05/date-vs-integer-datatypes-as-primary-key-for-date-dimensions/
I have also created a separate Time dimension as granularity of an hour is required.
The Time dimension is very simple and only contains a surrogate key (INTEGER) and actual time in hours (VARCHAR).
    DimTime(TimeKey, TimeInHours)
Our Fact table will now have a link to both the Date and Time dimension using the PK's.
Our analysis is required by hour, day, week, month and year.
My query is; Will this current structure cause any problems when creating MDX scripts to analyse our data (i.e. drilldown and rollup queries) Hour - Day - Week - Month - Year

    Hi Darren,
According to your description, there a day and hour granularity in your fact table, so you want to a hierarchy like Hour - Day - Week - Month - Year, right?
In your scenario, you created a time table that only contains a surrogate key (INTEGER) and actual time in hours (VARCHAR). We cannot create a Hour - Day - Week - Month - Year hierarchy without ant relationship between date table and time table. As per my understanding,
you need create a foreigner key in time table, and join those table in the data source view, then you can create such a hierarchy. Here are some links about create time dimension, please see:

  • Resolving loops in a star schema with 5 fact tables and 6 dimension tables

    Hello
I have a star schema, ie 5 FACT tables and 7 dimension tables, All fact tables share the same dimension tables, some FACT tables share 3 dimesnsions, while other share 5 dimensions.
I did adopt the best practices, and as recommended in the book, I tried to resolve them using Context, as it is the recommended option to Alias in a star schema setting.  The contexts are resolved, but I still have loops.  I also cleared the Multiple SQL Statement for each context option, but no luck.  I need to get this resoved ASAP

    Hi Patil,
It is not clear what exactly is the problem. As a starting point you could set the context up so that it only covers the joins from fact to dimension.
    Fact A, joins Dim 1, Dim 2, Dim 3, and Dim 4
    Fact B, joins Dim 1, Dim 2, Dim 3, Dim 4 and Dim 5
    Fact C, joins Dim 1, Dim 2, Dim 3, Dim 4 and Dim 6
    Fact D, joins Dim 1, Dim 2, Dim 3, Dim 4 and Dim 7
    Fact E, joins Dim 1, Dim 2, Dim 4 and Dim 6
If each of these are contexts are done and just cover the joins from fact to dim then you should be not get loops.
If you could lay out your joins like above then it may be possible to specify the contexts/aliases that should work.

  • Currency and Groups Dimensions in Legal Consolidation, BPC 7.5

    Dear BPC Experts:
I am using BPC 7.5 NW SP03, and building Legal Consolidation now. According to the SAP Library,http://help.sap.com/saphelp_bpc75_nw/helpdata/en/bpc_nw_index.htm, it says in 7.5, the currency and groups dimension are required and should hold currency members and consolidation members seperately. I have couple of questions about this design.
    1. Are GROUPS and CURRENCY dimensions both included in Legal Consolidation Application at the same time?
    2. How to move data in currency diemnsion into corresponding members in GROUPS dimension?
For example: THe GROUPS member, CG1(its currency is USD). How to let data in currency USD move to CG1.
    3. In Legal Consolidation data package, should I modify the prompt dimension from CURRENCY_DIM into GROUP_Dim?? cause 7.5 has CURRENCY dim in its package setting at default. However, the consolidation package is based on GROUP perspectives.
Does anyone give me any idea in it? I really appreciate your help.
    Best Regards,
    Fred Cheng

    Hi Collet,
Thanks for such a quick response. Based on your answer,
The group-type dimension is used for storing the group component of legal consolidation. The group-type dimension represents the relationship of entities for a given consolidation result. This group is consolidated in a single currency, so there is no need to have another dimension. As of Planning and Consolidation 7.5, you can continue to use the currency-type dimension for this purpose, or you can split it into a group-type dimension (type G) and use a pure currency-type dimension (type R) to allow reporting in multiple group currencies.
If at all I go by that will that be sufficient to have only Group Dimension and ignore RptCurrency field in BPC 7.5?
As of now I am having my Group Dimension looks like this.
Member ID          EVDESCRIPTION        GROUP_CURRENCY        PARENT_GROUP      ENTITY
    G_CG1                XXXX                          USD                                                                 E_CG1
    G_CG2                XXX                            USD                                   G_CG1                   E_CG2
    G_CG3                XXXX                          USD                                   G_CG2                   E_CG3
So now do I need to enter any RptCurrency Members under Group Member ID column to have RptCurrency ignored once for all. By the way our RptCurrency and Group Currency is USD only.
Please advise as right now we are not able to have Currency Conversion Functioning properly. I mean when I executed FXTRANSLGF, I am able to my DM status as Successful but saying 0 Submitted   0 Success   0 Fail
I am unable to crack this. I tired playing Groups and RptCurrency but same result. Successful but no records. We have maintained all Exchange Rates corrctly.

  • Multiple 'logical joins' between a fact table and one dimension table

It appears that one cannot create multiple ‘logical joins’ between a fact table and one dimension table in OBIEE using the Oracle BI Administration Tool. For example, considering a Business Model with a dimension table TIMES and a fact table FACT containing START_TIME and END_TIME, we would like to create separate logical joins from FACT to TIMES for the START_TIMEs and END_TIMEs? Obviously, the underlying foreign keys can be created, but as far as I can tell the Oracle BI Administration Tool doesn’t support this. The workaround would be to replicate the TIMES table, but that’s ugly.
    I seek an alternative approach.

Try this. Create an two aliases for the TIMES dimension (Start & End) in the Physical Layer and then remove foreign key to the "Parent" Times dimension. Create the Foreign Key in the Physical Layer to the new aliases and then create the complex joins in the BMM Layer to the new aliases as well. This will allow you to present both dates within the same table in the Presentation Layer. Not the most elegant solution but it works.

  • Pie chart with two measures and date dimension navigation not working

    Hi Experts,
Pie chart with two measures and date dimension navigation not working. Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi Deepak,
I had time dimension in the RPD.
I have stacked bar chart with same time dim like year & month in the report. when I go to legand and set navigation it is working fine. But not with pie chart.
I am not not sure what is the problem. When I click on Pie chart it is not navigating to the target report. Can it be any other issues..???

  • 3 facts and 4 dimensions

    Hi,
In my RPD I have 3 facts and 4 dimensions and the joins defined are as below
Physical layer - All joins are FK and inner (1:N)
    FACTA-------------- Dim1,Dim2,Dim3,Dim4
    FACTB-------------- Dim1,Dim5,Dim6
    FACTC-------------- Dim1,Dim7,Dim8,Dim9
BM layer - All joins are complex, inner
    Question is
When i am fetching the data some records are showing blanck and some with records
i wants table to be filled with records not blanck anywhere
    thanks

If you set the content level for Fact B to be TOTAL for Dim 2 the metric will be null since there is no relationship between these tables. If you want the metric to repeat for this dimension you need to set the metric content level to TOTAL for Dim 2. Try that with one of the metrics and verify the behaviour.

  • Ranking and Date dimensions

    Hello everyone,
I am trying to sort some values descending in order with addtional time dimensions so i can prompt them on my dashboard.
I can get it to rank correctly when I omit the Date fields (Year,Qtr,Month) however, if these are present then i get the ranking based on smaller values due to the dates because OBIEE is breaking it down to the month
which have different costs associated to that date.
    Example:
    Field1 | Value(desc) | Rank
    1001     $3,654      1
    1400 $1,520      2
    3501     $1,511      3
    3508     $1,200      4
    1601     $958     5
    1401     $608     6
    1602     $200     7
So when Month is present for example, my amount is not 3,654 but rather 2 rows that sum up to 3,654. I do not want that to happen, but i still want to have the fields so i can filter.
    Field1 | Value(desc) | Rank | Month
    1001     $1,830      1 Jan-2009
    1001     $1,824      2 Feb-2009
Does anyone know how to display as the first table with the additional Date fields on affecting the row result?

    Hi Darren,

  • Two fact and one dimension table

    Hi folks
i am new to this field ( 3 months ), my TL has given me one task i have to finish it up today itself, Can anyone one give me some idea how to implement
    req. The req is
    1. there are 2 fact and one dimension table is there, i have to create reports on Quaterly and monthly basis by using one dimension table.
Can any one tell me what all are the steps in need to follow
2.What is standalone and integrated systems?
    Regards
    Reddy

    Hi
If u r having mapping keys for quarter level n monthly level then create a Alias for the dimension table.Use the original dim table for quarter level mapping and the alias dim for monthly level.
    Thanks

  • New calculated member based on existing measure and a dimension value

    Hi
I’m trying to create a new calculated member in my cube based on an existing measure and a dimension value.
I can do it easily in DSW but I want to do it as a Calculated Member in Calculations tab from my cube.
I have a dimension called Product in which one attribute is UOM (unit of measure) and a measure called Quantity. The relationship with the fact table is “Regular”.
For each product we have a unit of measure and an associated quantity measure:
    Product Name
    UOM     Quantity
    Product 1
              Km
             50
    Product 2
              Kg
             60
    Product 3
              Kw
              25
    Product 4              L
    15
    Product 5              T
             1.5
    Total                                     151.5
The calculated member I want to create is “Kw” and has to contain the value from Quantity measure when Product.UOM is “kW” and should look like this:
    Product Name
    UOM     Quantity
    Kw
    Product 1
              Km
             50
    Product 2
              Kg
             60
    Product 3
              Kw
              25
     25
    Product 4              L
                 15
    Product 5              T
             1.5
    Total                                     151.5
    25
So far I tried using the MDX with “IIF” or “Case” but with no results.
What statement I should use in this case?
    Thank you.

    Hi Cees,
    Thank you for your answer.
I never used yet the “Scope” statement and yet it’s an elegant solution.
I use it as in your example:
    CREATE
    MEMBER CURRENTCUBE.[Measures].[Kw]
    AS NULL,
    FORMAT_STRING =
    VISIBLE = 1 ,
    ASSOCIATED_MEASURE_GROUP =
    'TR Other';
    Scope [Measures].[Kw];
     Scope [Product].[UOM].[kW];
     This = [Measures].[Quantity];
     End
    Scope;
    End
    Scope;
…and the calculations are solid…with one exception: when I took out UOM from the query there are no more any resuts:
    Product Name    Quantity    Kw
    Total
    It’s only working
if using UOM in the query.
    I also thought that a
tulpe might be another solution as:
    ([Measures].[Quantity],[Product].[UOM].&[kW])
On this last one I’ve got the expected results with one exception: when I use UOM in the query all the other UOM values are listed each one of them
having the [Kw] measure calculation value.
    Product Name    UOM     Quantity    Kw
    Product 1              Km
             50
    Product 2              Kg
             60
    Product 3              Km
              25             25
    Product 3              Kg
               25             25
    Product 3              Kw
              25             25
    Product 3              L
    25              25
    Product 3              T
    25
      25
    Product 4              L
                15
    Product 5              T
             1.5
    Total                                     151.5
    25
…and without UOM in the query I have what I’m expected:
    Product Name    Quantity
    Kw
    Product 1              50
    Product 2              60
    Product 3               25
     25
    Product 4
    15
    Product 5
     1.5
    Total                       151.5
    25
Maybe we can work together to find a solution.
    Thank you,
    Oks

  • JDeveloper 9.0.3 and JDK 1.4.1

    Hi
I remember that you couldn't use JDeveloper 9.0.2 with Java 1.4 - the menus, buttons, some windows wouldn't appear. In order to build my application with Java 1.4 I had to have both installed on my system: 1.3.1 to run JDeveloper and 1.4.0 to build.
Just for a test I have installed JDeveloper 9.0.3 and pointed it to JDK 1.4.1. It seems to work. I know that JDeveloper 9.0.3 has been certified with 1.3.1.02 only but it works for me and my servlet application with the latest JDK.
I wonder if others use 9.0.3 with JDK 1.4.x. If yes - did you run into problems?
    Thanks
    Witold

I am also having touble with running a JDBC application when I set JDeveloper(9.0.3) to JRE 1.4.1. I get an exception from the "setDate"(not defined in JRE 1.3.1) of the "CallableStatement".
    Actual exception follows:
    "java.lang.AbstractMethodError: oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleCallableStatement.setDate(Ljava/lang/String;Ljava/sql/Date;)V"
    any ideas?
    Thx.

  • Dynamically read height and width dimensions of .mov

    Hi there!
I am wondering if anyone knows of a way to dynamically get the height and width dimensions of a quicktime movie, before streaming it?
The circumstances are this. I have clients who upload quicktime movies to my server. Right now, I use code to embed movies in a fixed size page, but the movies can vary quite dramatically in terms of their dimensions. For example, if the movie is 400px wide, it looks fine in my page. However, if it is 800px wide, it extends out beyond the borders of my page and looks terrible. I could just make a huuge page, but then the tiny movies look ridiculous
If I could somehow gets the dimensions of a movie before it starts streaming, i could create a large target page for larger movies, and a small target page for small movies. Basically it comes down to being able to somehow dynamically read the dimenions of the movie.
Is this even possible? Like my boss keeps telling me, it's all just Math isn't it?
    Thanks!!!

    Hmmm...
I think the movie dimensions are exposed to JavaScript, but only after the movie has opened. So you would have to load the movie into the plugin, then get the dimensions, then use JavaScript to rewrite the page. Which I don't think is quite what you had in mind; you're wanting to collect this information and deal with it before you write the page.
Let me see if I have this straight...You are allowing clients to upload movies to your server, and then you're hoping to generate an embedded movie page on the fly in PHP to display the movie just uploaded, correct?
For a library of movies, you could generate a small database of all the movie dimensions, then just look that data up in the table when you generate the page. The trouble is, I don't know of any way to get the movie dimensions except to get them from QuickTime, and to do that you have to load the movie into either the player or the plugin. You could, for instance, have an AppleScript that looks at each movie and populates the database, but I don't see how you could trigger that to run on upload, and I don't know what kind of server you're using.
Now here's an idea...If you have some way of arbitrarily reading and parsing the QuickTime file, you can get the dimensions out of the file, but it isn't easy. If you are lucky, the moov atom will include a prfl atom (movie profile) which includes the video dimensions. But the prfl atom is not mandatory, which means you have to look at each trak atom that contains video and examine the size *and position* and accommodate the fact that you may have multiple, overlapping video tracks. But you could get the data by parsing the QT atoms yourself. All the data you need to do that is here:
    http://developer.apple.com/documentation/QuickTime/QTFF/QTFFPreface/chapter1_section1.html
...and may God have mercy on your soul!
Seriously, though, you CAN parse a QT file, and that might be the best (though obviously not the easiest!) way to get the data you want dynamically. QuickTime does help you out by giving you all the offsets for all the atoms, but it can be tricky!
